[Q] I think virus got in my mobile - Sony Xperia L

I downloaded an android app from 4shared, and when I installed it the phone suddenly shut down, when i tried to switch it on its stuck on the ribbons screen, none of the hard reset methods worked it simply does nothing, what can I do without going to costumers care??:crying:

For starters you could not install cracked apps. It is not safe as you can see and it is not right to people who work hard on providing those apps to begin with. Also price of most apps is so low that there is really no excuse.
On topic now, have you tried repair with Sonys computer software ?

Try using SUS repair firmware, I am not sure if it will work as your phone doesn't turn on but you can give it a try.
- If not then try Flashtool (androxyde), download/install it.
- Download the relevant firmware FTF, just search the forums.
- Flash the ftf via flashtool-follow instructions.
Then you should be good, avoid sideloading apps from elsewhere unless you KNOW it is safe, if you do sideload an app scan it via antivirus (android obviously) e.g. Dr Web Light. Don't download pirated apps, it is morally bad (especially on XDA) and the likelyhood is that it will install malware on the system.
---------- Post added at 03:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:29 PM ----------
BTW for androxydes' flashtool don't worry if Windows doesn't mount the storage, as long as flashtool detects it your fine.
BTW I have never come across android malware that does this, did it require root permission?

first try to boot in safemode if it works u can uninstall that app..
for safeboot press and hold volume down button then power on
if this not work repair it with sony sus

What app did you download from 4shared?

Extremely frustrated, need some advice for PIN lock

I locked my phone a week ago (drank a little, was incredibly angry) and forgot the password the following morning. Tried every combination under the sun that was close to my usual lock PIN and had no luck. I read about the pattern unlock asking for a Gmail login, and I was never prompted.
I tried many solutions, including the ADB program but my phone was not set for debug. I decided to change my Gmail password online with the hopes my phone would prompt me, but no such luck. A day ago I found a program that would bypass the screen lock, but it had to be installed from the Android Market. Installation didnt work because I changed my Gmail password, but cant set it on my phone now.
I really dont want to lose my photos and data, it would be a huge setback and Im already having a difficult time with it.
Is it possible to install a custom recovery image WITHOUT losing all of my data, or will it wipe everything clean in the process? Are there any realistic options I have to be able to remove my PIN lock or recover my data?
I would really appreciate any help I can get, because it seems I have no other options left and Im left with a phone I want to throw in the trash.
You didn't say if you are rooted or not. If you do have root then you can probably just flash another rom and you wont lose anything. If you don't have root.. then I got nothing. If you don't already have a rom on your device but you are rooted you could probably find a app that would allow you to get right into your phones flash memory and put a rom in that way.
Also, pull our your micro sd card on there. If thats where all the data that you want to save then you could be in luck that way. You didn't mention where the data is saved. Pm me if you have any questions or you don't understand

Sorry, didnt think to mention those details. Phone isnt rooted, all data like photos and such is saved internally.
I never really looked into digging into the phone like this, but after I locked it I started looking at every possible option. Even sending the phone out to a data recovery specialist. Im basically at the end of a fraying rope, and it really sucks, Im so stressed.

So you tried your passcode those thirty times and then what happened? Nothing? I think that you should just keep on trying your passcode over and over again and maybe it will come up with you signing into your google account... maybe.
Data like photos, videos, files, etc etc are all stored on SD card (internal), except application data. Only application specific data like its configuration, etc go to internal partitions that get erased when loading custom ROM.
So your best bet would be to install a custom ROM and then get the data from your SD card. When a custom ROM says it is going to wipe everything, it means partitions like /system, /cache, etc, and not the internal or external sd card.
But for this you would need to be rooted. So try the one click to restore to stock (in one of the threads here). This is worth a try since this method should not clear internal SD card.
why dont you flash the community kernel giving you CWM, then flash a rom?

Idk if you can get into download mode if you're not rooted.. never tried it.
If you can't get into download mode you might be able to do the stock reset. I would make that a last resort though, it will probably wipe your pictures.
You do this by powering down the phone and then using the three finger method, holding down the power, volume up and down buttons. Let go of the power at the Samsung logo and then it will boot into a green screen. From there.. you have to figure it out because I don't know what the screen looks like. I can't remember from all those months ago when the last time that I was on the stock firmware for a while.
Optimus is right....just pull the battery...put phone in download mode and flash community kernel...when it starts booting...3 button back to recovery...if you don't have a custom rom on your phone...when you get to recovery..go to apply update zip and select and flash it...that will give you green cwm ...then go to mounts and storage and select mount usb storage...you computer will recognized your internal memory then you just transfer another rom on your SD card ....unmkunt usb and flash like normal...hope that helps...

How do I put the phone in download mode? I know how to get to recovery mode, but not download mode (if they are different).
When I mount the USB storage, I can just pull everything from my phone?

Download mode screen has a small exclamation mark, something like in the pic I have attached. It is totally different than recovery. Recovery allows for a bunch of options that can be manipulated on the phone itself. Download mode allows phone to be updated only via a connected device i.e., a computer that pumps in data to the phone. By data I mean OS.
You cannot mount anything like USB storage in this mode. This mode is more like a mode that the manufacturer uses for automating initial OS onto the device, in a totally automated process. This method is also sometimes referred to as "restoring stock" meaning, restoring phone to how it was when out of factory.
Pull the battery....put battery back in...(first of all have Odin open)..hold vol up and vol down while plugging usb ...u should see a yellow android with a broom and it says downloading...on Odin you should see comm## in yellow if you are connected....download gtg ultimate unbrick and extract...on Odin click the pit button and go to where u extracted and double click on infuse.pit...then click the pda button and put the PDA file in there...and do the same for phone...hit start and your on your way back to stock

To add to this:
Since you seem to be new, try to ensure you don't disconnect the phone from the PC until this process is complete. And get the phone drivers loaded onto your computer before you start this process.
Most importantly, as mentioned above, open odin first, and then connect the phone in download mode for odin to recognize the phone.

I find it odd that you were never prompted to unlock with gmail password as well, it actually says pin lock, not puk lock correct?
Did you try changing your gmail password back to what your phone thinks it is so you can run this program you heard of, that might work right? Just thought i would throw this out there if your having toruble with the more technical solutions being offered to you.

Its the PIN lock, rather than a pattern or SIM lock. I did try that actually, but Gmail wont allow me to use the same password twice. I spoke with someone at Google who referred me to a specialist, and I will ask for their help on doing this. I was told by someone else that with the phone not seeing the correct password it will essentially be logged out, but Im really hoping that is not the case.

[Q] Modified Device?

I went to check for updates and I got this, "your device has been modifed, Software updates are not available".
So I checked under Status and it says "custom''.
I have never modified this device as I have zero reason to. I tried reformatting without the SD card and it works for about a week then I get the message again. I have done this about 4 times already.
Anything? Did I pay full price on a refurb from Best Buy, that I special ordered because no one had a 32 gig?

Of course, my GN2 is not supported by Kies version 2.0. Why would the Samsung flagship phone actually work on the program that Samsung is pushing us to use. Guess Itunes is still my best bet for an ANDROID operated phone, I feel the blame will probably fall on Verizon. Sorry, rant... [Q] Can't access fastboot...

Hey guys,
first of all, my powerbutton stopped working some weeks ago. I thought that not much of a problem, so I remapped this thing and perfect.
I noticed, if I turn off my phone, take battery out and back in, it restarts instantly. Seems to be stucked at "ON" or something.
Well I also noticed without touchrecovery, it's quite a problem to navigate through cwm recovery.
But there's still fastboot... naaah I couldn't find the phone in Windows to install drivers, thought that's a problem of Win8, but after that I tried same thing in ubuntu with manually installed drivers... still nothing.
Okay next thing, is, there are so many apps in the market, which install some recovery, autoflash stuff... Did that, (yeah I gave root access and so on) and still nothing happened, I'm still stuck with this cwm recovery and can't install new roms.
Now my Question(s):
Is there an Option to install some new recovery?
Is there a way to get Fastboot working?
Is there a way to get the Powerbutton in this state back to work?
Or kinda best worst case, is there an option to get my Nexus back to Stock and unroot to send it in, I still got warranty but this would require stock phone...!
Thanks!

have you tried flash touch recovery with ROM Manager app?

Try capacitive buttons on your current recovery. On my current recovery the search button makes the same that the power button, so if in your recovery the button have the same behaviour then you can easily flash a stock rom
Okay, i just got told: "If the power button is always pressed, fast boot does not react on input from keys or over adb.."

[Q] Samsung S6 (SM-G920V) bricked

I have a Samsung S6 (SM-G920V) Verizon 32 GB. It was rooted with Ping-Pong Root (apk).
I try to install TWRP. At the restart, my cell phone would not start more. Apparently it was not compatible with my version of mobile phone.
TWRP not installed, so I understand.
When I turn it on, it stays on a light-blue screen.
I try to install a stock firmware with Odin3 but the application remains frozen with the message 'NAND write start!' for several hours. And sometimes the status message 'Set Partition' appears in the box where it should say 'PASS' at the conclusion flashing.
You have a solution? What?
If I can give links to the files you need, also they are grateful.
Are you in download mode with the phone when you are trying to odin back to stock? Silly question but I have to ask.

The bootloader is locked on Verizon. No custom recoveries for our phones.
I had trouble getting Odin to work on mine once. I went back and forth with 3.09 and 3.10, closed odin, opened it back up and it finally took. Try a different USB port if you have one.

What I meant was, what button combination are you using to get into download mode?
Are you doing it like this?
Power Down the Galaxy S6
Press and Hold the Home Button, Power Button and Volume Down Buttons at the Same Time
Continue Holding These Buttons Until You See a Special Download Mode Menu
Once You See that Download Mode Menu, Immediately Let Go of Those Buttons
You’ll Need to Press the Volume Up Button to Accept the Warning
If so, what firmware are you trying to flash? Did you check MD5?
Have you tried a different cable?
Different USB port?
Even a different PC? (If one is available)

Is the file from this post the one you have been trying? With your problem, it should be. This is a full wipe tar.
Also, make sure kies isn't open the same time Odin is.

Yes, I'm doing that.
I tried installing the firmware of the following links:
and
- https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952613680
Yes, I checked MD5 both.
The cable used is provided by Samsung.
I tried three different USB ports, always in the same PC.

I think I download a firmware with a similar name.
I'll try this, and then you commented.
Kies always kept closed (even the process was not listed in the task manager).

If that doesn't work, some people have reported having luck restoring their phones using Samsung Smart Switch. It's main purpose is to transfer data from one phone to another but it also has "Emergency Recovery" and "Software Update and Initialization" sections.
Here is a YouTube video to help you out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8AZyalTf5Y

Lg Stylo MS631 brick w/ boot loop

Long time viewer first time poster. My son attempted his first root with custom Rom project a few days ago. He did outstanding. He got the phone rooted, custom Rom (katana) installed. It was going great until last night he allowed the phone to install an OTA update. Well after that the phone keeps boot looping with said message.

I can get to the factory reset page. But after I run through the motions it starts back to that loop. I am unable to get it into download mode. If there is any info that you need please ask me and we will answer everything. Please any help will be appreciated. He purchased this phone on his own. And I really don't want to have to tell him he has a fancy coaster. Thank You

Download mode =
First of all turn off the device by holding down the Power for a short while. Then press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons simultaneously for about 5 seconds. While still holding these buttons connect the USB cable into your phone.
You can release held keys, when information about Download Mode appeares on your screen.
Good job! You should be in the expected mode right now.

Yes I know those steps to achieve download mode.
My issue is that it isn't working like that I keep trying
but I am unable to enter that mode. Would the battery percentage affect entering download mode.

No the battery life will not effect it going into download mode. I would always have a full battery because if you shut down during a flash it is most likely a failed broken flash. Did you in stall twrp or cwm?
Sent from my LG-H636 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Twrp was installed along with custom Rom. Apparently he tried to upgrade the phone using an OTA download. This when the phone started having it's issues. I have a video of it. But I am unable to up load it to this site. When I get home I'll upload to another site and provide a url link.

Go download the rom and put it on your sd card. It may possably be still be on there if you didnt del it. Boot in to twrp and select wipe then factory reset. Then flash the rom again and you should be able to boot in to android OS.

Unable to enter download mode or twrp. It stuck in the loop. I can enter the reset mode but when I say yes to reset it just goes right back to that loop

I understand. It has been a while since i seen the reset mode screen [emoji2]. Sounds like the phone rejected the android rom that is installed now. That rom is not compatable with the phone. Just so you know for future ref newer roms are more buggy. Best to wait for stable builds. Any ways go to select the reset key it is resetting it is clearing off the rom. Wipe cash and there may be an update by SD card seletion. You would need to try to up date from there. (flash twrp) you def dont have twrp any more if you did the boot into recovery keys and ended up in orignal recovery. You will need to take a photo of the recovery mode bc i cant rember what it looks like as per slecetion. I rember the little hurt Android guy with the red trangel tho ha. May half to do ABD method wich is a bit harder for I. I will research to see if it can be flashed via Odin. [emoji2] . We Really need the phone to go into download mode for any possable flashes to be made via P.C. I will look up ADB code while you try stuff.

Incorrect. In ADB you have multiple options, you will be given choices. When you enter > 10 < for rebooting, it then gives you the option of a normal reboot, reboot into recovery, or reboot into bootloader. The last option is always an exit to bring you back to the main menu in case your entry was an accident. ADB can kick you into the correct boot , it also has the function to add an update.zip (your rom ect). This would probably be your door persay to unbricking the phone. [emoji2]. You would need to learn ADB. Have you plugged in the phone to the laptop and seeing if odin/the laptop recgonizes it while the phone is off?. Try plugging it in off and then on. It helps if you can see the phone in my computer via file explorer. ADB would also tell you if it is recognized. I do beleive you do not need to be in download mode for ABD to work for you.

Well since you are having no luck getting it connected to a p.c and getting it in download mode. You can call the phone company you bought the phone from and tell them it is in a boot loop. Tell them It just randomly happened lol. This phone is known for boot loop issues. Haha. Worth a try to call and ask. If it is as new as you say it will be under warranty. You can also tell them you tired a factory reset already too 😀. See you would be telling them the truth there too. I am on my s2 Rite now creating apps that's why it says s2. Sadly I don't see you getting the phone going because you can't get it hooked up to the p.c. If I was local I'd try hooking it up to my p.c but I am assuming that you are far far away from me. Let me know what happens. I do hope for the best for ya.
