Hi friends,
I was just wondering if the hardware-updated N5 is being sold now at the Google Play shop. I want to buy the updated one, but I don't know if they're still shipping the old version. If that's the case, I would like to wait until I can buy the updated one.
Anyone's got a clue?
Thank you so much
Mine shipped from the Play Store on December 3rd, arrived on the 9th and appears to be the updated version. The buttons have no rattle. I took a picture of the speaker holes and compared it to the photo in this thread and the size of mine matches the larger holes in what is supposed to be the updated version.
That's my experience, nothing official, so I can't say whether one you order from the Play Store would be the same or not.
Thank you.
I've read that post and some people have been given an updated N5, but for other people not. Let's hope here in Spain arrives one updated.
Looks like 312 and newer are the modified ones.

Check your box. If SN starts with 310K, it's old. 311K is revised.
dnt get so exited

Mine is a 311, I thought it was the 312 going forward that were revised> Mine doesn't look like it has the larger speaker grille and the buttons dont rattle, although I do have it in a Spigeon Slim Armor case... but even before the case no rattle.
Probably because if there is a difference its not even noticeable.

I have the 311 and im not sure if its the updated one or not but i have absolutely no button rattle or anything so im completely happy with mine
Do you think they'll keep building new hardware versions indefinitely? It may be, in fact, what they intend to do, since they don't produce huge numbers of devices all at once any more, but, rather, add smaller batches to their stock according to projected demand. This certainly gives them the opportunity to work out the kinks with LG, which, in theory, would have a significant effect on customer satisfaction. If this is the case, however, then waiting for the next best iteration could bring you right up to the release of the Nexus 6.

the 3xx designation is not a hardware rev, its just a production date
310 - Oct 2013
311 - Nov 2013
312 - Dec 2013
Guess what is going to happen right after New Years..
401 - Jan 2014
All of this stuff about new hardware is probably BS. Things are probably fitting better/rattling less/not as yellow/blah blah blah because they arent shipping out bad phones rather than magically making them better.
One guy on Reddit gets a phone that rolled over from 311k to 312k that happened to have a larger speaker hole by 0.002" and automatically that means Google updated everything. Not so fast...

One of my friend is gonna return from the US for vacation on december 31st and I was hoping to get a nexus 5 via him.
So my question is when will be nexus 5 be available again?I know that its a silly question but I think you can predict the availability of the next stock by the pattern of the nexus 4 stock last year.
moreover im hearing alot of defects in nexus 5.do majority of the nexus 5 has this issue or its just a few unlucky ones?im saying this because i cant RMA it if it does have any defects.
your help is appreciated.
I think it would be difficult to predict stocking levels, even trying to base it on the Nexus 4. From what's been showing up on the order pages, I'd guess more stock will be coming mid- to late-November.
As far as defects go, remember that most people come to forums and complain. Far fewer come to say that everything's great. So issues that are really pretty isolated seem like they're much more widespread. That's no guarantee of getting a perfect unit, of course, but then again there's no consumer electronics device being sold today where you can likely get such a guarantee. They all have issues.

No. The article means that if you want to purchase a black N5 16 GB from the Play Store, you can't right now because its sold out. Previously, the Play store would allow you to purchase this particular variant of the phone but it would say that it wouldn't ship until anywhere from 2-5 weeks later. Now, it won't let you purchase that model at all because its still out of stock and Google presumably doesn't have an accurate estimate of when they will be receiving more stock. They will eventually have stock but they just don't know when. So that's what the article is referring to, that the phone has flip flopped between being available for purchase with a 2-5 week shipping delay vs not being able to be purchased at all (its current status). Please keep in mind that this only applies to the black 16 GB version. Other colors/configurations are available for purchase from the Play store but with delayed shipping several weeks later.

Guys, did Nexus 5 really get an hardware update? I mean I just got my nexus 5 ordered Dec 24 and the serial number starts with 311, I don't really see speaker holes any bigger and I don't see and sharp edges or light bleeding. How can I tell once and for all that I do in fact have an updated hardware if there is really such a version.
Thanks
For the last time, there is no updated hardware version.
311 is the build month of October 2013. Hardware version is REV_11 in the bootloader and all of them have been that so far.
AHA! sorry guys I read about updated version a while back everywhere and did not see any other news otherwise.
Thanks

Hi,
Some reading: Will everyone please stop talking about different hardware versions?...
Hi,
So after a really long search through every single tablet on the world its only this last choice left to make.
Brand new sealed box Galaxy Note 2012 version (16GB)
vs
refurbished Galaxy Note 2014 (16GB) + extra 50$ more expensive (400 instead of 350).
I'm not willing the pay for the full price of the 2014, the question is, is it worth to get the newer but in refurbished condition?
The only big differences I see between those two are the better screen and the new software.. everything else looks pretty the same..
What do you say?
I'd like to hear your opinion as an owner please,
Thanks,
Jordan.
As an owner of the 2012 version, I am waiting for a good deal to sell mine now so that I can get the 2014. Samsung has a bad rap when it comes to updating their pricier android devices, and upgrading hardware in order to secure the validity of the device is one of the only options left for the 2012.
I'm not counting on them releasing the rumored 4.4,2 update for the n80xx line at all.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
If I were you, I'll never touch refurbished stuffs.
But still the choice is yours.
May be 1 other alternatives is just wait until the 2014 edition price drops
I don't have an answer for you but i can tell you I wouldn't get too hung up on which version of android it has. I am constantly updating my phone with newest ROMs and in my experience the difference between jellybean and kit kat or even ICS aren't very noticeable. I just bought a new 2012 version and so far it seems fine to me. I didn't even look at the new one though because i want going to spend over 350.
FYI, in case you didn't discover this, amazon has white ones for 350 and Best buy has gray ones for 350. Not sure if BB has free shipping though.
Thank you all for replying,
That was kinda what I was thinking,
Another question,
Are the ROMs available, still active? do they still updating their self? like atleast once a month?
I'm not an addicted user who changes ROM every week, but I know that atleast for the beggining I would wanna have the option to play with it alil,
Whats the latest official ROM samsung has provided to the device and whats the latest there is out there on the ROM list (ones with touchwiz)?
Thanks again.
There isn't a huge community of users for either tablet as its rather expensive. But even the 2012 edition is one of the most powerful tablets on the market today.
Samsung doesn't do the best at releasing updates but they have promised we will see 4.4.2 on the 2012 edition this year. Tho to be fair the amount of difference I expect it to make is near zero. The only functionality the tablet is missing is wireless display options. The only thing I wish I could change is running touch wiz.
Biggest reason I can see to go with the 2014 is the regular charger. The 2012 has a proprietary connection that isn't easy to find replacements for.

So........ what did you decide?
I have both versions and can honestly say that apart from my 2014 having the air command feature there is no real benefits from it. There are not many customs roms out for either of them and what there is don't offer anything better than stock imo.

Refurbished = Someone did not like it and took it back, or worse they took back caused it had a problem and the repair people turned it on and it booted, ha it works, resell it.

$300 for a 2012 is high in today's market.
You can find new 2012 on-line for less than that.

Samsung Galaxy 2012 (GT-N8000) no doubt!
When you wanna get best tablet by my opinion buy this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...UTF8&qid=1397148945&sr=8-5&keywords=note+10.1 or whenever you want. When do you don't need calling functions get 2012 GT-N8013 it's cheaper version of Samsung Galaxy GT-N8000. Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 is still too expensive. And 2012 have better support, upcoming KitKat 4.4.2 and a lot of custom roms!
But it's only my opinion... Everything is on you! :highfive:
I picked up this one a few days ago, and so far its been great, no issues. To me it was a pretty good deal.

haha. I do hope they do actually release it on the 3rd... but optimism is so non-British. Cynicism sits much better ^.^ I think the standard build phones would ship pretty fast anyway so a release on the 3rd for them makes sense; whereas customised moto maker ones will probably take more time anyway.
Here's to hoping a company makes a decent screen protector for this phone too in time for its release! oh wait... hope... bad...

Neither on the Nexus 6... Those round screens sure look nice but they are more fragile and makes it impossible to put a tempered glass.
Anybody notice that after the launch there has been zero follow-up by Motorola to ride the positive buzz to a launch? This makes zero business sense unless we consider what also happened just after the launch.
I am wondering if Lenovo is the issue. They zapped 500 from Moto's mobile division in Chicago and also let go of key software dev teams. It could be possible that given the staff reductions and distraction and disruptions this is not a good time frame to launch and would explain the pull of the announcement. Apparently feedback from Chicago does not suggest a facility "all systems go" for a launch and employees reporting they are still in shock and key positions were also laid off that are not filled to cover a launch.
I would not hold breath for a Sept 3 launch and also concerned for product support since apparently will be given to Lenovo who have no clue about Motorola (if you have dealt with Lenovo, they do not appear to have a good grasp of their own products as far as support). Shame too, since was looking forward (big time) to a 64GB version. Hoping I am reading too much into the events.
Whatever the case, you do not launch with such positive buzz and go dark like this. That defeats a key purpose of a launch in the first place.
It is mad to think that Motorola have done/said nothing after the announcement of the Style however the only good thing is the fact the shipments and general day to day sales i.e the Moto G 2015 seem to be going as planned without a hitch.
Not long to go before we see what happens lol. But honestly I cant see Lenovo making a mess of this, they are a well respected company also but tbh sometimes companies do make some proper stupid decisions ... Note 5 Not selling in Europe pops to mind hahah.
Sent from S3 via Tapatalk App.
Hoping that is correct The tweet being pulled and the complete darkness after a big launch is not a normal bridge to carry though to product release. a lot of momentum is lost. Whatever the case, Lenovo's timing appears bad.
Motorola Germany just answered a twitter question regarding the release. They expect a release in Germany around the middle of September. So maybe they can hold the 3rd September release in the US
All I know is that unless your quick your going to be left dissapointed as you're going to have a longer wait. In the UK the Moto X Play is already out of stock it went on sale only a few days ago.
I have a feeling the same will happen with the Style.
Wonder if this is common with Motorola and they run out of stock at launch. I know this was the case with the Nexus 6 but thats always the case with any Nexus LOL.
Motorola is very weak in regards to supply chain management and tend to be their own worst enemy. Was hoping Lenovo would help, but appears not to be the case. It is very ironic for a company so weak in supply chain to add the well-intended customer option of case customization.
I posted that the battery COULD be the Achilles Heal for the Moto X Pure, but Motorola supply chain for the critical launch release phase could be as well.

Do plenty of research first. I sent my 6p back because after 4 days of normal use the frame was twisting. It would no longer sit flat. I carried my phone in my front pocket as i have done with all my phones. I also had much worse reception. I constantly dropped to 3g at work whereas with this phone I don't. If on Verizon there is also no visual voicemail so if you have advanced calling enabled you get text messages instead of a notification that you have voicemail periodically. Your mileage may vary but I couldn't wait to be rid of it.

You know Nexus phones get the updates right away.. so why didn't you just buy the Nexus instead of the MXPE? Sounds like a personal problem...
C'mon, apologists. Waiting a few extra weeks isn't the end of the world for most of us, but it should've been out by now, given Moto's near-stock software design. The fact that it's taking longer to update their brand new, revolutionary, carrier-free flagship than some competitors' heavily-skinned, carrier-variable models is a very bad sign about Lenovo's priorities.
If 11 months from now we're finding out that the MXPE will not be receiving Android N at all, we can probably look back to this episode and say: "you know, we should've seen this coming." I'm enjoying my phone, but I absolutely don't blame anyone for hedging in favor of the 6P despite a few weaknesses (no expandable storage) because of Lenovo's poor showing this past 3-4 weeks.
So, go to the dev section and install MM...

Can you link to where Moto/Lenovo gave the MXPE an exact date of when MM was going to come out? Last I heard they were rollin' it out in phases... and even then, there were no exact dates... if peeps want to spend more on the 6P/Nexus and not worry about delayed updates, then they should have bought it, but yet, they didn't and are complaining about the "slow" updates on the phone(s) they 'decided' to buy instead..
Go to the dev section and install those MM updates posted there if you guys are really that bent on getting MM on your device...
I can wait, nothing in MM that I really want, much less need, anyways...
A few weeks is nothing. We'll get it.
This isn't like the Atrix and ICS, where the phone was out for a fair bit and also canned once google bought Moto. The phone is new. If other regions are getting it first, then that's just how the testing works.
They really don't want a repeat of Lollipop. I heard horror stories on how badly that update botched the 2nd Gen Moto X.

Do those dev section roms include T-Mobile B12 & VoLTE support??? That's what many of us are waiting for. If it was only a matter of wanting MM then yeah, that's a no-brainer, but no way I'm going through all that crap for a rom that doesn't have the T-Mobile support I've been waiting for all along.
From what I can tell there is no band 12 in the Indian mm but doze works ****ing wonders on this phone even completely stock. I'm on modded marshmallow now and will switch to official mm when its released. Simple enough
