[Q]Surface 1 covers on Surface 2? - Microsoft Surface

I am going to purchase my Surface 2 RT on saturday. I was wondering do I have to purchase the touch 2 or type 2 covers or will the covers for the first surface work also? I am on a budget and the covers for the 2 are more expensive so I was wondering.

Old covers work on the new surfaces as well.

Thank you so much that's great to know. But then what's the advantage of the new covers? Sorry for sounding like a newbie

Type cover 2 has keyboard backlighting, a trackpad made of feltish material rather than the plastic material found on Type cover 1, and is a teeny bit thinner. As for Touch cover 2, it also has backlighting, as well as a lot more sensors on the keys than the Type cover 1, increasing the sensitivity of the keyboard

Yep, the backlights are the main feature, although both covers are also a bit thinner than their original versions. The Touch 2 is also a lot more accurate (I'm not sure I'd say "sensitive" so much as that it has a better idea of where your finger was and hence can guess what word you actually meant and learn the way you type, much like a phone or tablet on-screen-keyboard).

Thanks for the replies. I have a Motorola KZ500 Bluetooth Keyboard and Trackpad. Hopefully it works with the surface 2 until I can justify buying the type 2 cover.

That should work fine as an input device.
You also may be able to find gen1 covers for cheap. Heck, I'd consider selling you mine to offset the cost of buying a gen2...

Hmm I was thinking about just saving up for the gen 2 type cover but how much would you be willing to sell your gen 1? And is it the touch or type and what color?

Touch, black, used but good condition. I'd need to look at the going rate for them, but I'd be willing to cut a bit of a deal for an XDA member. PM me if you want to make me an offer; the public forum probably isn't the best place.

Stylus for SGT 7 Plus

Samsung stylus works for me!
Sent from my GT-P6200 using Tapatalk
My wife and I are both using the Samsung conductive stylus.
She bought it for me for a gift and at first I was skeptical because I had not used one before. But I quickly adapted to it and now the stylus goes with me everywhere I go (it works great on my Atrix and the touch screens at work).
The stylus has greatly reduced the need to constantly wipe the screen of fingerprints, although the rubber tip does leave a barely noticeable smudge on occasion. I find that my accuracy is much improved, especially trying to click on tiny hot links.
Swiping is intuitive as well, but if you swipe too quickly it may skip. You also need to get a feel for how hard to press down on the tip. As far as using drawing or note taking apps, I don't use either, but I have done some scribbling and note writing as a test on the stock pen memo app that came with the tablet and the stylus seemed to work fine. Just don't expect razor sharp detail in your penmanship or artwork.
As I would expect from a Samsung product, the build quality is fantastic. The black and chrome finish looks classy and the stylus has a solid heft to it. The barrel is roughly the diameter of a regular writing instrument and has a very natural feel when held in my small/medium sized hand.
I'm actually considering getting two more so I can have one at home, at work and one in the car, so I'll always have one available. Yes I've forgotten to take it with me and went through withdrawal.
adonit jot pro.... it's amazing stylus for capacitive screen... works well on ipad and galaxy tab... i myself plan to buy one, but i can't buy it because i don't have credit card
How are these stylus (Samsung or Adonit) works on screen protector?
My past experience with the stylus on screen protector hasn't been very positive. The stylus is hard to move and lots of skipping.
Just wondering....

I'm using a China made stylus on my tab with a scratch proof screen protector. It works great although I need to apply just a little pressure sometimes...

I use a box wave stylus and it works great. I use it for drawing and playing games and it never missing a press. Very light pressure and it still works. They can be found on Amazon for an about 8 dollars.

Case Mate Barely There!

Hi guys, I have recently fell in love with the case mate barely there metallic silver for the Galaxy S. However, I have a Galaxy S LCD and I know that case mate do a case for the i9000 and the i9003! Anybody know the difference? Also, when I was on amazon, it said that they have a newer model of the product but when i clicked on it, it looked exactly the same?
Any suggestions or help would be great! And if you have this case please comment on what you think about it Thanks
I used it for a few months and found that:
1. It made the gps worse.
2. It caused scratches on the bezel when you put it on or removed it. Which is ironic because it's supposed to protect the bezel.
But on the plus side, it made the phone feel a bit more solid and look nice without making it noticably bigger.

I think it is great! Protected my phone very well through a festival and loads of gigs, solid case. I have broken the little bit above where the gap for the volume rocker is, but that was kind of expect. In the upper right corner there is also a crack for me, I will try attaching some images for you now! I might just order another one!

It looks like the one I have. It worked great. I always thought the touch pad was too slippery. The case made me more comfortable handling it. I no longer worried about it slipping out of my hands. The only down side is that it was too thick to charge on the touchstone.
I just got the HP case. They are only $4.99 with free shipping for Hp and it works with my touchstone. I bought 2. check out this link they have a lot of things on sell. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676227

Why do you even reply? I was curious about what this community has to say. Keep your negative remarks to yourself, this is what ruins our community.

Yikes, a bit of a strong reprimand for someone just pointing out a good source of comments on the case. However, I have one, and use it when I take the pad outside. It does have difficulty with touchstone, though I have made it work with careful positioning.

These are those low-quality generic cases from china. You can't see it but, the dye rubs off and stains your device. The TP is black so most don't notice but if you get a different color or use it on say, an iPad, you will get a nice surprise. Also, it doesn't fit the TP snugly - the thing moves around in there a bit. My advice get the official case on Ebay or something better. It's priced at $4 for a reason.
They are super generic, but they are of good quality for the price. I'm using one on my TP right now. It's very decent, but I am a bit of a case junkie and have 4 different cases at the moment. That said, I'd recommend it.
Further, I've had no issues with it not being color fast, and the fit is perfect...but that's just my experience. I also bought mine from ebay, not that it makes much difference, I'm sure...

Minisuit / Poetic cases redesigned for Infinity.

They have redesigned the Minisuit and the Poetic 2 piece cases and put the cutouts in the right spots. Of the two, I grabbed the Minisuit, since I have had both for the Prime, and there were almost identical - granted the Poetic is a TINY bit better, but nothing substantial. They are both "PU Leather" (look it up on Wiki - Modern technology permits up to three or four horizontal layers being taken from a single hide. The leather used in the backing of bicast or PU Leather is a thin layer, remaining after other layers have been removed for traditional leather work They actually have to dye a leather pattern back onto it for lighter colors, this is why I avoid the browns, even if they look... okay, they are not very natural real looking.
After this they coat this thin, THIN split leather with a layer of polyurethane applied to the surface and then embossed (to have a texture)
For the money? Its damn nice, feels super soft, shines beautifully (try Pledge, which list leather as one of its applications- shines really nice)
Anyway the MiniSuit is $11.95
http://www.amazon.com/MiniSuit-Tran...words=minisuit+case+asus+transformer+infinity
And the Poetic is 18.95
http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Transf...words=minisuit+case+asus+transformer+infinity
- At these prices, you can't go very wrong, and they do protect your tablet and dock. They do make it thick as a big phone book though, LOL! I usually only "sheath" my Infinity when traveling or taking it outside the house.
I received my Poetic today from Amazon. As the previous poster stated when closed out its thick as a phonebook. However, for 18+ bucks this is a very nice case.

Just ordered the poetic case for $18,95
It seems nice and practical. Have to protect our baby
Can't understand why it is taking them until the 22 october to have it shipped to sweden.......
I was wondering if something like this existed. Last time I looked at the thread, I didn't noticed what I was looking for but this time I did.
I want the Dock easily removable, so I can, say, leave it in the car to be charged as I am running around on foot, using hte tablet in standalone mode only. I seems like either of these cases do exactly that, with what seems simple snaps that hold the dock part to the rest of the case.
Question - what exactly is the difference between the MiniSuit and the Poetic?

Ok so i got the Poetic delivered by mail today 6 days from US to Sweden, that was faster than i expected!!
Actualy you can snap off the keybord and that is easy with 2 simple snaps.
The drawback with that is that you loose a good method of closing it if you drop it, there should be some easy snapping for closing it.
I will attach that function by my self as it should be easy to do. and half the solution is in place already from where the keybord dock snappers are in place. Yes the Poetic case brings a little extra weight but on the other hand it protects the pad quite nice i think, and it looks good!
SD-Card can be reached aswell as USB, MicroSD, charging and camera. The keybord dock was not easy to fit in because the strappers are in the way, so i simply didn't attach them they aren't realy needed. I use the snappers only when i detach the keybord from the tablet and want to hold it in place.
Sorry for my english, but i hope you understand what i mean.
Best regards
Mackis

I have this case for about 6 months now and I love it! The keyboard is removable so if you dont need it for the day, take it out and the case is a wee bit slimmer. Best case for the price on Amazon! And it is build very well. The magnets that hold the keyboard are strong but over powering and does not mess with the screen at all. The keyboard does have an auto off feature if you leave it turned on. Just hit a button a few time when ready to use it again to wake it up. Once again GREAT CASE!

I personally love the zaggkeys I just bought this monday. My tablet now feels like a small but powerful notebook. It's got the best of all worlds. The only issue is, I can't disable the onscreen keyboard. Does anyone know if all bluetooth keyboards have this problem?

I'm using Zaggkeys too, really very useful. I installed "null input method" and problem solved.
I'm curious. Can this case be "backward folded", where the back of the tablet lays flat on the keyboard?

I have the same question. Can you fold the Zagg 180, so the Keyboard is on the back of the tablet.
Dave
This is what I'm using. So far after a month I like it, it's thin and has pretty good battery life. It turns the screen on and off when opening and closing.
