[Q] Does your screen look very smudgy? - Sony Xperia L

I can't really explain what I'm thinking of, I don't have a problem with the LCD itself, but on the surface of the screen it looks really smudgy, but in a weird way. My older phone or tablets screen had fingerprints of course, but it's different on the XL. You can't see it in the dark, but outdoors in the sun (even now in winter) I can barely see the screen because of it. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about if yours also loook like mine.
That's the only reason I use a screen protector, but I don't like the feel of the screen protector so I'd like to remove it.

I know what you mean, I'm facing that too. I think it's preety weird since my Defy from 2010 doesn't look like that at all when I use it.

And do you use some kind of screen protector or you just have to bare with it?
I bought an XtremeGuard screen protector and it looks better with it, but it feels sticky, and I don't know which one is worse.

I don't use a screen protector, since it reduces the touchscreen sensitivity. But it feels a little bit better with it.

That is because of screen is coated in a special way. Just learn to live with it or get a screen protector but then you will have to learn to deal with lowered sensitivity.

I already have a screen protector, and I have no problems with the lowered sensitivity, every one of my touch has been detected since I applied, but I wanted to peel it off because the surface of the protector feels sticky.
I'll probably just buy another screen protector, because I don't think I could live with that coating.

[Q] Smudge/stain/spot on the screen

I have the Captivate for almost 2 months, but I think this issue is valid for all Galaxy S phones.
Some weeks ago it appeared a stain/smudge on the middle of the screen that can be easily seen with a light color background. Also, I noticed that its seen even with the phone turned off. See both photos attached.
I use invisibleSHIELD. Since the stain is noticed even with the screen turned off, I'm wondering if it may come from the protector instead of the screen itself.
It would be easy if I removed the protector, but if I do so, I'll loose it.
Has somebody had that problem?
May it come from the screen protector?
Thanks
I would imagine that it's the screen protector and the actual phone screen. Just take the screen protector off.
I don't have this problem but you can remove the screen protector and reapply it easily. Just use tape to lift it off the glass and rinse in a bowl of warm water with a drop of dish soap to clean and reapply. I've done this to my screen protector 5 or 6 times for various reasons.
yes my friend this is caused by the screen protector. mine had the same issue. apperantly its from using the squeegy tooo hard!
Could be your LCD Has a burned in Image
If you remove your screen protector and still notice the screen smudge try tilting the phone slightly to get a good angle and try o see if the smudge is internal, if it is I would say its a bleeding LCD, I had this issue with a HTC tilt at&t sent me and they sent me a brand new one free of charge.

It was applied by a authorized ZAGG reseller. I watched and he didn't use it too hard. Any way, I'll remove it.
You had this problem with a invisibleSHIELD by ZAGG protector too or other?

When you had this problem with HTC, were you still able to see the smudge?
What kind of case is that? It looks very slim and pretty cool!

It should be covered under warranty still. Their site offers a 1 year warranty so you should be able to take it back to the seller and get a new one installed free
Its the case from at&t, its like a silicon plastic thing. Lol. I got it too.

I have this same issue with my HTC Magic, that has a screen protector on it. There is a similar mark, smudge on my screen, as a result of a particularly large raindrop hitting my phone. Based on this thread, I can breath a sigh of relief that it didn't damage the screen!

micro scratches?

Is anyone else experiencing micro scratches?
I've baby'd my phone since I got it, never letting the screen touch anything, the pocket I put it in only ever has my phone it in, nothing else, ever.
Just recently after owning the phone for a little over a month now, im noticing micro scratches on the screen.
It's not normally seeable, but if your in a place with bright lighting or outside its pretty noticable and really annoying.
I figured with the gorilla glass on these things It'd wouldnt be an issue to not have a screen protector, especially for someone as careful as me.

99% of ppl think here that they are carefull with their phone...nope not even joking
on topic : get a a screen protector... a sand grain can successfully scratch u r screen but nails and knifes cannot
My commuter case came with a screen protector, but i've heard they're not the best and that an invisible shield would be better.

Lol this. It sounds freaking ridiculous that something that is sharp/dangerous to us, can't damage the phone, but something we don't even think about can.
Damn Mohs, and his scale.
These phones come with an oleo phobic coating, so some of the micro scratches could be in that as well.
and yeah, dust and sand can contain ground up quartz, sucks.. :/

Really? My Gnex did too, and that felt ALOT better than the straight glass on the HOX. I love this phone, but that's one of the few things I miss about the Nexus
I'm going to try to pickup an invisible shield for it.
I figure that even though the screen protector wont fill in the scratches, the light would reflect off the invisible shield instead of the screen making the scratches less noticeable. Does that make sense?
Yes. I had a few scratches on my sensation, and I put a skinomi screen protector on it, and now you can't see the scratches.

Good to know :good:
Now I just need to put a screen protector on for the first time ever.
I've heard putting it on in a steamy bathroom makes it easier.

If you would like, ATT puts them on for free in store I'm pretty sure. But the shields are expensive. I've heard some great reviews on skinomi so you could give that a shot. As far as a steamy bathroom, I usually turn on the shower for a little it really does help. Might be a placebo but I've gotten all my screen protectors near perfect.. I'm having too much fun using the phone naked though. Still contemplating getting a screen protector cause it would help with the face grease after talking on the phone.
I should be able to get an invisbleshield for fairly cheap locally.
Or I could order the bodyguardz screens online and get a 2 pack for about the same price as the invisbleshield, but then I have to wait a week.
Has anyone tried toothpaste or something else to remove the scratches? I have been contemplating it but I haven't seen any conclusive answer on what does and does not work.
From what some said, toothpaste works by grinding down the glass to get even with the scratches. Didn't sound like a good idea to me but I am open to suggestions

the toothpaste trick is NOT FOR PHONES.
Don't do it, you'll most likely scratch the **** out of your screen and make it look really foggy.

[Q][A510] Screen protector

Which would you guys prefer/recommend, matte vs clear screen protector for the A510?
1)Which would likely to affect the touch sensitivity?
2)those with matte protectors, how do u think about the screen display after installing it?

Not matter which you choose, with the A510's current firmware, you will most likely loose screen sensitivity after a restart. You'll need to toggle sensitivity every boot.
I've tried a matte protector before. I didn't like it. Yes, it does make the screen look premium and classy and smudge free. But the all of my whites were exploding into a rainbow of different colored pixels. Note that some users don't mind though. I'm just extra OCD.
Bottomline, I'd rather wipe my screen every day, rather than look at my whites explode.
thx
thanks for the opinion, salisbury_steak!
I've installed a matte screen protector few hours ago. personally, I feel much contented and satisfied.
but I do agree with the screen sensitivity. however, I have had no problems with the touchscreen sensitivity back when I was using 1.044.. now im using 1.076, and yes, I have to disturb the touch sensitivity option on every restart.
You're welcome. And you're correct, at the end of the day, it is your tab. I'm glad you're happy with your selection.

Screen coating is coming off?

Noticed that from the place where my thumb usually makes up/down scroll is strange area, and even I clean the screen, this area is still there. See Yourself - I made a picture, clean screen, water steam (breath), and this middle area is the problem. My thumb is normal, I'm a normal user and I had newer such problem with any phone.
Is the Gorilla Glass really so bad or is it coated with some stuff which is just coming off?

No, I have not used any kind of screen cover, but seems that Moto G screen is covered with the the water-resistance coating and this is failing off - it's clearly visible when cleaning the screen with some liquid, only this area stays wet.
But I don't think this is normal behavior. I can't imagine what the power users screen is now or will be later. I contacted with the Amazon ( I have one dead pixel too), let's see what they say.

If it contains a dead pixel better get a replacement, all the best for that.
BTW water repellent coating is done on the internals of the device.

I know about internal coating. But as You see, the screen is also coated. I have the proof.
I made a test, sprayed water to the screen, and as You see, the damaged area stays wet, while the rest rejects it.
The question is - do I have faulty screen or this will happen to everyone sooner or later?

well you are the first one to report something like this and i agree with you because this might happen with others also sooner or later. Its very much possible that your screen is faulty since you mentioned its new (maybe the screen had tiny dust particle before the coating took place) many members are using the phone without any screen-guard but none have mentioned anything like this..A lot of member have got dead pixels on their screens and got them replaced.
I'm using a screen guard since the screen will get scratched over the time.

Well, Amazon just replied and they will replace it with the new one, so I have to wait for the new one and later send the old one back. Let's hope that this one's screen ( I still don't like to add the screen protector, as it's kind of ugly) will last longer.
If you apply the screen protector carefully, you won't even know it's on! It's your choice tough but what you reported is pretty worrying. That area of the screen seems too big tough for it to be a thumb, (you touch with just the tip of the thumb) do it was probably already a little damaged when you got it and with the time it got bigger and bigger. Or maybe you scratched your screen somehow?

the is an oliophobic coating on the screen of the moto g (part of the gorilla glas). this is also the reason why you generally get less fingerprints on the display than on a screen protector and why it's much easier to clean the display than the scren protector

I'm 100% sure that I haven't scratched the screen purposely, juts normal, id even say careful using. And if I clean the screen, it's bright and like a new, impossible to detect any damages, also this problematic area is clean and shiny. But when I touch it or spray water etc, it's clearly visible. So choices are:
1) Add screen protector (let someone do it, once I added it to iPhone and the result was terrible).
2) Polish the whole screen, so that this coating is removed.
3) Replace.
4) Ignore.

Yes, You are right, it's anti-fingerprint oleophobic coating and be warned, seems it's just won't last.

Screen protector on phone in box? Can we remove it?

Hi,
Just got this phone and I can't be 100% if it has a screen protector fitted to it already or it is one of the normal in box protectors just a bit thicker.
I don't really like it to be honest - I normally don't use screen protectors so wonder if someone removed it from theirs and how it is.
Thanks

It's a factory installed screen protector.. If I'm not mistaken, most honor phones come with one installed.. Like the 7x as well.. Up to you if you want to remove it..

Cheers, that's what I suspected..
The screen feels too resistant and a bit like an old tactile touch screen instead of a smooth 2018 screen with it on.
. I'll try it for a few days before I decide to take it off or not.

If you're on the latest 130 firmware version, touch sensitivity has gone down from the factory 100 version. It might not be the SP fault for low sensitivity..

Without the poly film screen is better. In fact with poly film the touches were sometimes not working and was not that smooth. For better experience you should remove it and use the phone or use any screen protector. Honor can ship something better in future.
The back cover is fine though and looks good with phone
On my phone the screen protector is not applied properly. It is at a slight angle so there is a small gap on the top half between the protector and the edge of the screen. That makes a sliver of brighter screen; it looks a bit weird.
I've just noticed how dirty this screen protector gets. It seems to catch fingerprints into a dull grey film and it doesn't wipe easily. I will have to remove the thing.

I removed mine and i tell u the screen is much better without it. The original screen does not keep finger prints, it gradually fades away.
