[Q] Why are Location services running when Locations are turned Off?

One or two location services are always running in the background even when Locations are completely off, after multiple reboots. Any reason why?
On a simmilar note: does "com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel" need to always be running? It seems to be related to the phone dialer but there isn't much info.

Did you find out yet? Wondering the same thing.
I've always wondered this. If you enable show hidden sync in greenify you will see location sync. It auto turns it self back on after reboots and randomly if you manually turn it off and wait too.

Never did figure out why they need to be actively running in memory when they aren't being used. In fact, over time more Google services have appeared there as permanent residents including a 4th Location based service called GoogleLocationService.
You can force stop them but they will return so it's best to just let them be, or experiment with the Disable Service app. Without the corresponding setting enabled they don't seem to bring a significant battery drain but it is still worrying why these services need to be in memory and using any CPU time at all if their functionality has been disabled.
As for com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel, that seems to be a necessary process relating to phone/dialing functionality.

Touch and hold on that notification and drag down slightly and you'll see it say settings. Then you can hit turn off when maps opens.
Awesome cheers
How would I turn it back on?

Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought. It was already checked so I un checked and rechecked and it still doesn't show when I pull down notification window. Weird, works on my pixel but not this

The only other thing I can think of would be if it's blocked in Android settings>maps. Have a look there and see if notifications for the app are turned off there.

Must be some 3rd party app you installed.
It has either "draw over apps" rights (Settings->Security->Draw over apps) or even root rights (if you are rooted).
remove the permissions one by one and reboot to find the culprit app

I hope it's an app but I uninstalled everything I added to the device yesterday and it's still there. It goes on and off periodically. A reboot didn't fix it.
Yellow font 'offline' in a gray bar.
Anyone else seeing this?

Yes... Exact same thing.
I have the same issue on my Pixel XL. Just started about 15 minutes ago. Haven't downloaded any new apps in at least a week.

Can you guys go to settings->developer options: running services and send a screenshot of all running services?
also are you guys rooted?
Also pulling a logcat might shed some light into it.
Well this is both scary and good. It just stopped. If it starts again I'll take screen shots and post.
No I'm not rooted.
Well cancel that... It started again... Incoming requested info.
I'm having this problem on my Pixel XL. As soon as I deleted "Zedge" it went away. I redownloaded it and I am trying to replicate the "offline" message to see if it goes away again when I uninstall Zedge.

@Nsain1 got Zedge installed as well. Wonder how it can draw an overlay though without the "draw over apps permission".
ES File Explorer is also often a goo candidate when it comes to weird ads and such.

I stopped using ES Explorer a long time ago. It's not installed on my phone.
So I uninstalled Zedge and ES Explorer and rebooted. The message is still coming up. I appreciate the suggestions. This is odd for sure.
Not rooted. I wonder what app is causing this, it will notify offline even though i am connected to wifi, and it will not show up if i will turn off wifi.
Zeke125 - By chance you don't have control 4 do you?

Notifications issue?

Hi there
I have a question for the international users of the Magic 2. I have not yet owned a Honor device but had several Huawei Mate devices in the past. The ones which I had from China always had the issue with delayed/not syncing notifications, for example Whatsapp etc. It only got better with the international firmware on it.
Does the Magic 2 also have this issue, seeing it only comes with Chinese Firmware?
Thanks very much!
I have the HM2 and I haven't experienced any issues with notifications, using Whatsapp, Telegram or whatever.

I have had a different experience unfortunately. Some apps only seem to sync and receive new notifications when I open them.
I've tried adding the problematic apps to "unrestricted data access" (despite it saying this should not effect notifications) to no avail.
Hope someone else has a solution!

That's exactly what I was afraid of, I also know this from my previous Huawei Mates.. well I have placed the order now already for it.. so I guess I will have to see.
Go to settings->apps->apps->WhatsApp(for example)->power usage details->app launch.
Change to manual and enable all. I think you can then switch it back to automatic.

These problems usually originate with power consumption settings and launch settings, if you let it run in the background and launch itself, it should work perfectly.
In any way I use Whatsapp regularly and it seems working fine with the default settings I had when installed.

And this
Most people that are having issues with notifications are totally unaware of the the aggressive battery saver on Huawei devices. You need to manually allow apps to run in the background and not be killed by the battery saver. Unfortunately the settings are but hidden and some time there are more than one option to were to do so.

This works, thanks for the replies! :good:

Am I the only one with notifications issues?

Since I've had my phone, some notifications just don't come through no matter what I do. WhatsApp will not work unless I wake up my screen and my calender reminders never work unless I happen to be on my phone.
All permissions granted, battery optimization turned off, auto start enabled and no restrictions on these apps. Quite annoying.
Does anyone know how to sort this?
LOL this has to be the funniest post I've ever seen here. Like 25% of posts and comments on mi 10 ultra forums are about notification issues bud. Did you even attempt to search?

Are you on stock Chinese by any chance? Switch to the EU ROM, this will resolve your issue easier than it is to explain every setting needed for some notifications to fully work. Took me ages but I did do it. Then I went EU, no issues, worked straight away.

I'm on the stock rom. Not planning on switching to the EU rom any time soon as I need Google Pay and my banking apps working.
Would you mind telling me how you got it working?

Thanks, I've done this and still notifications only come through when I wake the screen up.
Definitely try the EU ROM. It has its own problems but it's better than the stock.
Yeah I get this all the time. Its so frustrating. This bug has a mind of its own and seems to choose when it likes to stop notifications working

It is very strange, because WhatsApp is one of the apps whose notifications seems to be reliable.
Gmail is one that I am not 100% sure about. But I feel it is somehow related to the way gmail handle its notification, since I experience similar behaviour on other phones.
Teams and Outlook are 100% notifications rate for me.
Possibly I have set something else in MIUI settings, I have to check everything.
