I have just purchased an s3 from Verizon (sch-I535). Yeah, I know it's last years model but the price was to hard to pass up. It is at 4.1.2 vrbmf1. I have not rooted a phone since my droid X and that was a 1 touch program called z4root. I have been trying to find a 1 touch root for this phone but all links seem to be dead. I'm interested in the "casual" root. can anyone point me to a good link for the casual root for this firmware version and a good step by step? I apologize ahead of time if I'm in the wrong forum. I am looking for some updated information on the Samsung Fascinate 4G. I received it as a gift, it is unlocked from Telus and running on Rogers, but it doesn't have root. I have checked it with root checker. I have read every post in the forum regarding this phone, and I know it can be done, but the posts are all well over a year old, some of the links don't work, and some of the posts are contradictory. Does Superoneclick root this phone running Gingerbread 2.3.4, Baseband: T959PTLKH2, Kernel: 2.6.35.7-T959PTLKH2-CL455087? Some say yes, others have had problems. I am leery on trying it because I am not 100% sure I can get someone to help me get it back up and running because it is a bit of a lone wolf. I was all set to try Odin, but again I don't want to be stuck with a phone that isn't working and not sure how to get it running again. Can somebody help me figure out how to root this baby. I would love to see the potential. Thanks for your time.

I have the AT&T SGH-I317... unfortunately, the toolkit lists the Android version of my phone as 4.1.1, but my phone automatically downloaded and installed 4.1.2 the first time I used it the other day. My question is, do I need to wait for the toolkit to be updated with 4.1.2 for my specific phone, or alternatively, would it be safe to use the 4.1.1 version in the toolkit, or use one of the other ones listed as version 4.1.2.
I'm perfectly happy to wait if necessary. Don't want to take any chances of messing up my new phone. This will be my first rooting or unlocking of any kind. I'm an adept PC user but phones are new territory for me.
So, if someone knows how I should proceed, I'd be very grateful for the assistance. I'm asking this here because I'm a new member and can't yet post in the developer forums.

I haven't tried the toolkit since the latest update. I know the Sprint version has CF-Auto root. Check your thread for that one. It worked for me after the 4.1.2 update with no issues.

I just bought my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 2 days ago and I love it. When it comes the root part I have 3 questions related to it. Specifically is the model GT-P5110
1) Does the newer tablets comes with bootloader locking chips? It happened to me once with the iPod 2nd gen. long time ago. The newer model (or MC model had a bootloader feature that was blocking the jailbreak). Does this happening to android tablet? Just to be sure.
2) If yes on the 1st question do I have to be care with root? My tablet comes with Android 4.0.4. I didn't update it. Came with pre-installed 4.0.4. So which guide do you recommended to follow in order to root this beautiful tablet ?

I bought a verizon galaxy s4 a few weeks ago and foolishly updated it. I now want to root it and i havent rooted anything in months but i wasnt to worried until i cant seem to find if you can root with version VRUFNK1. I found 1 thread where someone said they bricked there phone trying on this version. If it possible please let me know and what method to use.
you can actually root it safely only if you downgrade back to the VRUFNC5 bootloader , the use the vroot method.

I done some research and am very lost as to what to do. there are no clear instuructions on how to downgrade from vrufnk1 to vrufnc5 at all that I can find. can someone elaborate on this and give me a little more detailed instuctions and possibly links to the files ill need or websites where to find them. And is it possible to even downgrade without first being rooted? Sorry its been years since i have done this and it was way simpler on the kindle fire.

I am also in this predicament. I had a galaxy nexus that I would flash different roms to every week but I upgraded via Verizon to the S4 a few months ago -- bloatware is awful and is taking up over 7GB of my 16... Would love to get a jump on rooting, but I can't find anything on this build aside from this thread and another few posts that were also unanswered. Any help or direction would be great -- do y'all think there will have to be another way to root this build, or can downgrading be okay?

I too am in the same boat, for some reason with i545vrufnk1, I can't root so want to downgrade the firmware to a firmware that allows me to root, tried all the various methods to root but for some reason I can't, think it might be the firmware or the knox software package.
I believe you could root with Towelroot.

I followed the downgrade instructions and got root back. Is it Verizon that makes it a pain in the ass? I don't know what I would do without this place and helpful people

i tried this guide verbatim, mine bootlooped and rebooted after i tried connecting to wifi every time.
had to go back to nk1 and its stable now. farkin verizon...

Is is possible to put Cyanogen on this?
I have tried several ways and the only successful way I have rooted it was King Root. But I was never able to get a recovery on there. I used Heimdall, according to the Cyanogen Website, with no success. I really thought CASUAL was the answer, but now I see that it doesn't work with the updated version. I need the pro on here to help me! I really want cyanogen on it! I am a newbie and using Windows on this..

I too fall into the same category and have not found a definite answer, has the MK1 stumped all who come against it? Or is root and unlocked b/l a trade secret? I have rooted many devices in my past from G1 to EVOs to newer devices and nothing has been more or less unknown around here like this device is....what gives??

It's hard to find a good how-to with this one it seems. There are many tutorials but usually for the other variants and not the Verizon one. The ones that seem to be for the right device use apps to install a recovery but the apps don't seem to support this model either.
I guess there is no luck for this tablet at all... I got it for cheap at this point (4 years after its release)! And there doesnt seem to be a way to even downgrade

the only thing that is achieved is to root, unfortunately there is no way to unlock the bootloader to install TWRP
I also found the 4 stock files to recover by odin, but I did not verify it
