Newer SGT2 10.1 model comes with bootloader protection or something? Still rootable? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 2 days ago and I love it. When it comes the root part I have 3 questions related to it. Specifically is the model GT-P5110
1) Does the newer tablets comes with bootloader locking chips? It happened to me once with the iPod 2nd gen. long time ago. The newer model (or MC model had a bootloader feature that was blocking the jailbreak). Does this happening to android tablet? Just to be sure.
2) If yes on the 1st question do I have to be care with root? My tablet comes with Android 4.0.4. I didn't update it. Came with pre-installed 4.0.4. So which guide do you recommended to follow in order to root this beautiful tablet ?

I'm thinking also for the second one. I'm scared for the 1st one since it's working good for 4.0.3. I don't take any risks. Any confirmation about my choice?
Sorry for being noob. I have rooted many Android devices in the past and I need some help. As you know every root (for each device) is different.
Thank you

[Q] Unsure how to root Galaxy Tab 2 P3110

Hey Guys,
I've just purchased a Galaxy tab 2 P3110 (7.0) and i would like to root the device, and put Cyanogenmod 10 or 10.1 on it, as this is christmas present for a close relative and want the added features Cyanogen offers. I already have this installed on a Samsung S3.
I've seen quite a few different guides on the forums and other websites, all with differing ways to root the device and install custom ROM, can someone please provide a recommended guide to follow.
Check the 7 tab development thread.
Basically you need to download a program named Odin and use it to flash the proper cwm recovery to your tab. Then you boot that recovery to install the rom. You don't need to root, rooting is only if the rom you use is not rooted, like stock rom etc. You also don't need to unlock the bootloader or anything like that.

Kies is just so that you have the correct usb drivers so that your device is recognized by windows. You can also just install the drivers stand alone or Kies.
get odin and the file from the chainfire topic on the dev section
flash it and voila
quite simple, purchased mine last week and already flashed a lot of things

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all your great help so far.
Not sure if this is applicable but figured i would check before i do it. I've noticed on my device its listed as a P3110, but on a few of the instructions and the CF-AUTO root its listed as model number GT-P3110, from what i have its a plain tab 2, without phone.

yeah we just drop the GT- from the front of the model name as a sorta shorthand the 3 Models for the 7" (not counting the verizon that uses a different model number string) are the GT-P3100, GT-P3110 and GT-P3113 and the 10.1" versions replace the 3 at the beginning with a 5 so they are GT-P5100, GT-P5110 and GT-P5113 they are the same thing whether they have the GT in front or not, its just quicker to not type it out everytime.
BRILLIANT

[Q] Rooting Questions for a Galaxy Note Tablet

I am brand new to Android. I just bought a Galaxy Note Tablet 10.1 but it's the GT-N8010 model. I would prefer to have the US version GT-N8013 because it seems that there are a few apps / functions are not available in N8010 model.
I've seen several threads about flashing for phones but not for the Note Tablet 10.1. And I can't find anything about how to actually get started from the very beginning. I've always had Apple products so even the terms flashing and rooting are new to me. I need bare bones basic instructions on how to root my note tablet. I bought the ODIN app and it won't let me use it until I rooted and that I needed to be a superuser? I'm so confused... /:
Can someone please help me? What apps do I need and what's the actual process? I appreciate any help anyone could give me.
Thanks!

I used this thread that's sticked in the note Q&A to root my tablet. I actually did it yesterday after getting the german jb 4.1.2. I wanted to use the multiwindow app, so I had to root. I am new to this as well, but that thread got me through the process flawlessly. =) I used the pc version of Odin to do mine though.

[Q] casual root s3 vrbmf1 4.1.2

I have just purchased an s3 from Verizon (sch-I535). Yeah, I know it's last years model but the price was to hard to pass up. It is at 4.1.2 vrbmf1. I have not rooted a phone since my droid X and that was a 1 touch program called z4root. I have been trying to find a 1 touch root for this phone but all links seem to be dead. I'm interested in the "casual" root. can anyone point me to a good link for the casual root for this firmware version and a good step by step? I apologize ahead of time if I'm in the wrong forum. Thanks.

[Jailbreak]Root Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (Verizon- i925) - Root/Jailbreak/Recovery

It's 2016, and I need to know the truth about rooting the I925. I reset it to factory settings and here is what I have:
Model SCH-I925
Android Version = 4.1.2
Kernel Version 3.0.31-1481643
Build # JZ05454K.I925VRAMK1
Hardware Version I925.03
Is is possible to put Cyanogen on this?
I have tried several ways and the only successful way I have rooted it was King Root. But I was never able to get a recovery on there. I used Heimdall, according to the Cyanogen Website, with no success. I really thought CASUAL was the answer, but now I see that it doesn't work with the updated version. I need the pro on here to help me! I really want cyanogen on it! I am a newbie and using Windows on this..
Try the forum for your model .
I too fall into the same category and have not found a definite answer, has the MK1 stumped all who come against it? Or is root and unlocked b/l a trade secret? I have rooted many devices in my past from G1 to EVOs to newer devices and nothing has been more or less unknown around here like this device is....what gives??
What locked bootloader
Sent from my SM-N920C using XDA-Developers mobile app
It's hard to find a good how-to with this one it seems. There are many tutorials but usually for the other variants and not the Verizon one. The ones that seem to be for the right device use apps to install a recovery but the apps don't seem to support this model either.
I guess there is no luck for this tablet at all... I got it for cheap at this point (4 years after its release)! And there doesnt seem to be a way to even downgrade

So this means there is no fix for Galaxy note 10.1 SCH-I925. Would you happen to know if Casual is available for this model somewhere in this forum. Thanks for your response. mariomr
No sorry no idea .
the only thing that is achieved is to root, unfortunately there is no way to unlock the bootloader to install TWRP
I also found the 4 stock files to recover by odin, but I did not verify it
sorry for my english

Tab 2 - GT-5113 Rooting info

My wife has a Tab 2 / GT-5113 that need to be rooted so I can do some much needed updates. It is running version 4.2.2 and the only instructions I can find are for 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 and I need to be sure I'm using the correct method for this tablet. I'm well versed on rooting HTC's since I have done a number of them, but not these so I need some directions on the Samsung side.
