Hi there,
I was flashing my Samsung infuse 4g and my little brother grabbed the USB cable. so everything got messed up!
when I connect the phone to my computer this message shows up "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again."
I've tried to do that and nothing seemed to be working
I've tried to flash another ROM but the problem is that the phone won't go into download mode so I can use Odin.
Please help!

Actually this is download mode my friend. Just load odin and you are gonna be able to flash a rom in the phone and you'll be back on track in no time

I had to flash the ClockworkMod-Recovery first because it didn't accept any ROM.
It worked just fine. now I'm running the AoCP 6.4 ROM and the phone is way way faster than before
Thank you so much! )))))

I have the samsung galaxy s 4g. First off it can get into download mode, with the yellow triangle. Second, It's recognized in normal mode i.e., mass storage, samsung kies, media. Odin also recognizes it in normal mode as 0:COM. Though when starting in download mode windows tries to install it but fails and says usb not recognized. Also Odin no longer shows it as 0:COM. Any suggestions?

It is not as easy as just using ODIN to flash back. Why do you think it is messed up?

I've searched and can't find any answer to why it won't connect through download mode but will through the normal mode

The answer IS out there, I found it when I first started... But, here's the spoon:
1 Start Odin, plug in phone while it is off and battery out
2 hold the volume up/down buttons and insert battery
3 If Odin does not recognize phone then, reinstall the drivers
4 Repeat steps 1 and 2

Can you see enough of the screen to root your phone? I would recommend rooting it, downloading sgs kernel flasher, downloading a cwm kernel, flashing it, then reflashing through cwm stock gb and see if it fixes it. It might be a hardware issue though. Have yet to hear somebody say their screen stopped working after using kies.
Use the first link in my signature for detailed directions, links and downloads.
You don't need to **** with ODIN. I recommend my method. No ODIN
It's a bad download... Happened to me when I first updated to 2.3.6 via kies...

What won't let you root? SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse? I just did it today.
Make sure you are patient with it.

Just dawned on me... You need to make sure you have enabled USB Debugging Mode for SuperOneClick to work.
On the device, go to Settings > Applications > Development and enable USB debugging
Hi All,
I'm hoping someone can help me with my non-rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Tablet (GT-P110). The tablet won't go into download or recovery mode, and it's saying "Firmware Upgrade encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES and try again". I've tried using Kies, but it's not recognising the device.
I've downloaded Odin 3.09 and a stock ROM from Samsung Updates. When I go to flash the ROM via ODIN it fails at around the 60-70% mark. I've tried a different stock ROM, but the same thing happens.
Is there anything else I could try?
Many Thanks...

Try a different cable if possible, different pc/laptop and go to samsung website and download drivers for your tablet model. Sometimes Kies doesn't do a good job with drivers.
Try rebooting tablet and connecting it right away to pc/laptop.
Good luck.

I have tried a different cable, laptop and downloaded the drivers from the Samsung website, but I was still stuck with the same problem. I tried using Odin 3.07 and this got me further than before. It went through the flash process and I then got the blue reset message. The problem is that the tablet doesn't reset and just goes to a black screen. When I try to manually reset the tablet it comes back with the same message "Firmware Upgrade encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in KIES and try again"
Has anyone got any other suggestions I could try?
Many Thanks...
I've had the exact same issue before and in my case simply removing the external sd card before flashing with Odin solved the problem.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 2
I never thought of that because I keep a nandroid copy on my external SD, so I always pull it from my phone or tablet when flashing /reset just to be safe. Doesn't everyone do that?

Ok so I had a similar problem with my samsung phone as well where i couldnt go into download mode. So i pretty used the download mode combo(it wasnt in download mode). I just flashed stock firmwere and apparently it worked and you said odin was recognizing it so the best bet is to flash stock firmware via odin even if its not going to download mode
Hope i helped you

Now I'm getting an error:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again.
It's a tablet:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (p5100)
In my computer im using windows 10 pro, and adb device is not regonized.
What I neeed to do to get pasted that error?
Thanks for the help!
There is nothing to worry.
It is easy to solve this.
Just download Odin in your pc.
Download the official firmware if your device here.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-P5100/
Now open Odin In pc
Connect your device to the pc .
Now in the app under PDA browse for the firmware you have downloaded and click start.
Wait till it says pass.
That's it you have successfully solved your problem.
Now it will take some time to boot.
In case you feel that you are in a bootloop just go to recovery and perform a factory reset .
Odin download http://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.10.6.zip

Greetings;
I don't know if you already entered Download Mode...
Most problems accessing Recovery and Download Modes are due to having the USB Cable connected.
Remove the cable; press the key combination; and it will boot.
(Except if there's some incompatible ROM flashed by mistake).
After that plug the USB Cable again (if your USB Drivers have also installed for Download Mode) Odin will recognize it (like shown in your Screen Shot).
REMEMBER:
While Flashing do NOT Remove USB Cable, untill Odin Displays "Pass" message.
Further issues: Let us know. We're would be Glad to help.
Hello. i think i bricked my phone by trying to update from micro sd with an update for a different version. It can only go into download mode and recovery mode. I treid to follow other guides using Odin to try and fix it but when i connect the phone in download mode to the PC, Odin does not register this. There is nothing wrong with the cable or USB port either. The phone does register though in recovery mode, but nothing happens during this. Please let me know what I should do.
edit: another thing, i also tried using samsung kies to do the same thing, but the phone gets stuck on connecting and doesnt go any further
also, is it actually possible for this phone to run android 4.0+? or did I just ruin a perfectly good phone.
Thanks, adz09
was time to send it to rest, btw did you try installing samsung smart switch then use odin to try to flash the firmware?
