LG G2 ATT variant root and unroot - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi All,
I have been reading the XDA for days now. I have att D80010D. I have not taken the software upgrade which has prompted. I want to root because I would like to use tasker or Lima, remove bloat. Not necessarily to get paranoid kitkat given kitkat will be coming in March. I read way to root and looks very clear how it is done. Does the current root process have a way to avoid the root counter increase? Is there a way to unroot and get to the factory defaults? I know you can flash the factory reset and there is a thread for it but does it reset the root counter?
Appreciate your kind help.
Thanks.

How to remove CM 10.1 and unroot for warranty?

Hey guys, I need to bring my phone in to AT&T for warranty on a defective screen but my phone is currently rooted with CM 10.1. The online AT&T representative said that since this is a hardware defect, the software won't make a difference but I don't want to take any chances.
Is there a guide on how to unroot and go back to stock software so I can still use my warranty?
Thanks!
All help is greatly appreciated!

Search for information on running an RUU. Also, questions like this go in the Q&A section not development.

Sorry I remade my post there. Mods please delete this thread
Moved to Q&A
If you're AT&T, you'll want to make sure you are S-OFF before running the JB RUU per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181929
Well I didn't change anything to my phone and brought it to ATT anyway and they still replaced it. They obviously saw that it was rooted and said for future reference they don't usually warranty anything when the software has been modified.
Anyway, now I'm stuck with 3.18

[Q] Regarding rooting my AT&T LG G2

Well..
I would like to root my at&t lg g2 d80010q before I update and go to kitkat. I have looked around the xda site for ways to do it but, frankly, things are scattered and, its making it difficult for me to understand what to do.
Is there someone here who can guide me to a thread in which it will help me root the device and than retain the root through the update..
any advice will be appreciated..
thank you.

is there a root for kitkat?

i recently had to flash to the kitkat update loosing my root.
is there a way to root kitkat?
No, and this is not the place to post that.
How is it possible you have been a member for two years yet you are stupid enough to post that here? Read the damn rules mate this is ridiculous.
Also to answer you question, with the veil of ignorance you seem to live under I doubt there is root on KitKat for you.

lol quick post wasnt paying attention all i saw was g2 att and thats what i have so i posted this question.
holy calm down bro... People make mistakes. I spilled coffee on myself this morning are you going to freak out on me too?
Meh, I took my aggravation on my unreliable internet connection out on you. If you are updated to KK already there is no way to root, you need to downgrade via LGFlash and then root before taking the KK OTA to keep root.
ioroot is working for KK now

Thanks for the link. I will read up on it. That's too bad that we can't install custom recovery yet. I wanted an aosp Rom ?
Would you suggest downgrading? Or would that mess up something? Not recommended?

the way things are right now there may never be a recovery for stock kit kat so if you want aosp then yes I recommend downgrading to 10d here is a link on how(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476)
I myself wanted stock kk with custom recovery so I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672931 just in case you want kk with root/recovery which is currently the only way

if is Sprint variant which is the same as Boost variant the Bootloader is Lock and you won't be able to install custom recovery (TWRP) and just get root, but without TWRP you won't be able to flash any roms.
i recommend you to keep track on this Thread LG G STYLO (LS770) Thread
Wel i have the oem enable option in my dev options so if i can switch the hardware so the phone runs off gsm instead of cdma i should be able to unlock run on tmobile and install twrp...right??

I'm surprised that no one has called you out or closed this yet! You're in the Android Wear WATCH section. You need to find the section for your PHONE and search there. If you still can't find your answer, then post there.

there is no real section for our device on XDA there is this http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lg-g-stylo but it's not exactly the same as the one for the Galaxy S3 for example the Stylo forum is a collection of threads in different sections that have mentioned the phone itself hence why this thread is on that forum....

He would still have better luck getting an answer in the general Android development PHONE section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development than in this WATCH section.
well if a moderator would like to move this thread to the appropriate section that would be appreciated

[Completed] LG G2 D802- Terminologies & Best LP ROM?

Hello, i decided it was time to root my 16gb D802 G2. i am newly registered though i have been reading the forums regularly and even have stock rooted my phone because lg being lg. Despite that, i was at complete loss when i head down custom roms and i dont know where subforum ask about the "best" lp rom for my phone.
So i wonder if maybe you could point me to where i can find terminologies and in which subforum i should post my previous question.
Also as far as i know there is no way to brick your phone without a way to recover, still if there is an irrecoverable brick it would be nice to know more about it. Thx for your time
Hello there, thank you for using XDA Assist.
HERE is a list of terminology and all you need to know about root and android words. HERE is your rooting guide for your device, or basically a compilation of youtube videos to root any variant of your phone. and HERE is where you usually ask your device related questions.
Hope i helped! Happy rooting!
