hi,
I'm not sure when exactly this issue started on my phone, but I updated my touch pro with the chevron updater and have quite a lot of apps installed.
after several seconds workling with the phone, the touch screen stops working while the phone acts perfectly normal. I can use the keyboard and tilt the phone but I cannot use the touch screen anymore.
By turning the phone off and on it works again.
has anyone experienced a behavior like this?
I noticed my touchscreen becoming unresponsive when loading particular websites. Even had it freeze once (only time it ever froze on me)
What were you doing when it does this? Do you have the multitasking reg edit on?

I know this is an old thread but this is the only reference to the exact same problem that I'm having. I'm having difficulty putting this down to hardware as the screen becomes responsive again when locking and unlocking which might point to software.
It could be a hardware issue that is resolved by locking then unlocking the phone but I don't know enough about the construction of it to have an opinion.
The advice I've had from htc is to wipe the 'phone and start again but I don't expect that to solve it (especially as their call handling system refers to Window Mobile 7 - the second large commercial organisation I've seen that on in recent weeks without looking too hard!).
Has anyone else seen this since the original post or @exilkubaner was a solution found to your problem?
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I hard reset my HTC 7 Pro, but no success, my screen doesn't respond until i lock/unlock the device.
So, any one have resolved this issue since the first post ?
Regards
Had the same issue, but I didn't have any roms installed.
Brought it in to Sprint and they found that I had a fried ribbon connecting the screen to the phone. Replaced under warranty.
It happened again, I determined that it was caused by my click in belt clip/holster. When I pull the phone out, it pulls the screen away from the keyboard a bit.
^Wow. Nice find. I'll have to be careful with mine now as I could easily run in to the same problem pulling it out like that.
This is the most annoying POS program I have ever seen , whether I have a stock rom or custom rom this annoying program pops up whenever it wants usually while Im doing something , but it also just starts for no reason while sitting on a table ! Yes I turned it off in setting , that doesnt turn it off , that doesnt do sh1t , I mean at least have an on off button for this annoyance , anyone know of a place in the registry to cut this off (gooddaytodie, heathcliff,Jax ???)!!
It's easy enough to remove it from a custom ROM, but if you're getting the app triggering randomly like that, it's probably not a software problem. That sounds like a hardware issue, with either the capacitive buttons being too sensitive (a problem some phones will exhibit, especially while plugged into a charger and then laid on their backs) or with something in the case being messed up. I've had TellMe trigger a few times when I was gripping the phone really hard playing Z0mb1es, but not since then and never while just lying there.
I was hoping Id get your attention and yes I figured it was a hardware issue with the capacitive buttons , but is there any way to disable tell me and yet retain the actions of the capacitive buttons? its really annoying , it may be a hardware issue however after researching this its quite prevalent on the new nokia phones as well I am using a samsung 1st gen focus and I do have a custom rom , if you can point to the right location in the registry to remove this pest I would be appreciative , I will report back to you to let you know how it works out?
Thanks again GDTD , always pleasure hearing from you!
I know of no way to just "disable" it, though that's probably just because I haven't looked. It's part of WebSearch.exe, which if removed or renamed would prevent TellMe from launching (it would also break the other functions of that app, though, such as the barcode scanner and Bing Music).
The Focus is indeed the device I've most commonly heard complaints of having over-sensitive buttons / touchscreen that occasionally push* themselves. I've never tried, but I've heard there's a tool - in the Diagnostics app, I think - that lets you adjust the buttons. Maybe that would help?
* I was going to say "touch", but that... didn't look right.
Thats exactly what I was thinking that there might be some controls in diagnosis that adjust the sensitivity , but, alas I dont know what they would be , if you have the time could you look for me?
I don't have any Samsung phone, and the Diagnostics app is completely different between OEMs. You're better off just doing some searches of the forums, especially the Focus sub-forum.
yep I have been, I used to know all the good codes , but I guess I will have to start searching again, thanks anyway! I think I might be heading back to Android ,after this fone has run its course , just so much you can do with the platform ,unlike windows and crapple ! I am really ticked off how Microsoft keeps sabotaging itself , win 8 phone kills win 7 phone as win 7 phone killed mobile , every two years ,ya have to start all over again ,you will never catch apple and wont even catch a dream of android!
Hello guys, Im sorry if this thread is already here somewhere but I didnt manage to find any info about this one.
Basically I've just bought a new phone (Xperia SP) and one of the very few things I actually dont like or miss here is the HTC Sense settings features when it comes to incoming/outcoming calls and their controlling just by moving the phone around. I was very used to that and loved it with my good old HTC Desire, may it rest in piece.
I havent managed to find any app for that on market, which could be aswell caused by the fact that English is not my native language and I dont really know which keywords should I use to find such app.
In case u know some apps that can do such things Id like just to point out the main functions that Id like to get on my Xperia:
- first of all Id like my display to lock temporarily as soon as I reach my ear with the phone when I pick up a call, to prevent unintended actionc caused by my troll ear.
- the feature that lowered ringtone's volume to minimum when u picked the phone from a table or just turned it upside-down.
- and finally the feature that allowed u to quickly turn on loudspeaker just by turning the phone upside-down after answering the call.
- +the pocket mode would be nice as well but I can live without that one.
Thank you in advance for any app-tips <3

Hi,
I am interested in utilising older smartphones as video players in an art installation. I am wondering if it is possible to strip a phone back to a very basic system whereby when the phone is turned on it will play a video on loop until turned off, with no other functionality (no pause, play etc, no use of touch screen or buttons except for on/off switch).
This is a complete shout in the dark and I may well be in the wrong neighbourhood, but some input from people who actually understand modding old tech would be appreciated.
I currently have an old LG Optimus Black P970, but am mostly interested in the theoretical side of things at this point.
Many thanks
Maddy
