Okay so I backed up my rom fine. When I went to restore it, CWM would get a little ways through restoring data and reboot the phone. What the hell?
Running stock rom and the latest version of CWM.

This is happening to me, as well, and it renders the restored phone inoperable as it seems to fail and reboot during the data restore. Wiping the data altogether and thereby starting fresh is the only way to get it to boot. Not Happy.
put your phone in download mode and try reflashing the cwm with the latest one: 6.0.4.3 via odin.

So I've been flashing several roms back and forth, including GB through CWM. Then I reflashed to KD1 using Odin, and now I would like to restore my system to the way it was before all the flashes. I did make a restore, I can select it through CWM, it says it restores OK but upon rebooting, it's stuck on the boot screen (galaxy s 4g exclusively...).
What could be wrong?
Im having to same problem im wondering if it has something to do with the license. If you go to device settings mine is telling me no valid license

Try clearing your cache and factory reset after restoring, then reboot.
Well what I did is flash back to KD1, then did an advance restore of only the data, and that fixed it. Didn't try any of the other options in advance restore, as I have all my data back now.
check your mounts before restoring.
I am having some serious issues with my phone today. What exactly is the point of formatting system, data, and cache after you wipe? What is the advantage and what happens if you just wipe and not format? I have never had issues making backups and restoring them until I started having to format before flashing these new JB roms. I have noticed that any backup I make (even ones that I have successfully restored without issue numerous times) completely stop working after I format my phone. Phone has bricked three times today.
This morning I had to bust out ODIN again and flash the Root66 (stock root) to fix the phone. Annoying, but no big deal. After I'm done I made a backup of the stock root. No issues. Then I go into recovery and factory wipe, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik. Did that twice. Then formatted system, data, and cache twice too. Flash the TasteOfBeans rom...installs no problem. Working great. Spent about two hours setting my phone up the way I used to have it. Boot into recovery and make a backup of this rom since I have set it up. About an hour goes by and I need to use my GPS so I boot into recovery and attempt to restore the stock root backup I made just this afternoon and it fails. Why the hell is it failing? Then I go to reboot system so I can at least get back into the JB rom and it just get stuck on the samsung boot logo (my boot loader is unlocked).
I had these exact same order of events occur with JellyWiz last night. I'm pretty over the whole format system, data, cache after wiping because this is the only new thing I have been doing and its cause me to bust out ODIN about three times in two days and all my backups are failing.
VERY frustrating...
To make it even worse after my most recent run in of failed restores and stuck on boot, I just ran odin again flashing the same Root 66 that I have been using to solve my issues all day and now its stuck in the Verizon 4G LTE boot.
So, even after using ODIN the phone is stuck in the Verizon 4G LTE bootloop. I flashed the Stock Root 66.
After I gave up on that, I decided to completely unroot the phone and start from scratch so I flashed the stock unrooted zip in ODIN. Same result...cant get past the Verizon boot screen. What is happening? Is my phone completely screwed or is it fixable?
Alright, perhaps you should try odin flashing the phone back to complete stock. No Root66, just factory firmware.

Odin the stock Verizon ROM.
During first reboot after Odin, sometimes the phone will hang. Pull out the battery. Count to 10. Put the battery back and hopefully the phone should boot.
....just double check all the proper boxes are checked and unchecked in Odin. PDA only.....

Back when I was on Jellybean, I decided to go back to ICS because of random reboots. I backed up all of my apps, through titanium, and flashed an ICS backup. Everything seemed to work fine. After i restored my apps, everything started crashing. Since then i have tried everything from factory resetting to flashing images through fastboot. Every time i try flashing images, it says "done" but i reboot and it's just the way it was. Clockworkmod isn't working either, it either gives me an error or reboots recovery in the middle of a restore. If you need any more info, i would be happy to get it.
When you tried to restore your back up from Jb to ICS it caused issues. You can try and push a new clockwork recovery and then restore a back up or you can also just fastboot the stock image and start all over again. What xoom do you have and what clockwork based recovery were you using (rogue or something else)?
Hi,
I installed CM 10.2 on my A510 to try it out, did a full wipe, and got stuck in a boot loop. Wiped again and reinstalled but had the same issue. I have tried again with CM 10.1.3 and the AOKP roms but have the same issue, full wipe before each install. Right now I cannot get past the boot screen where the tablet restarts and tries again and again and again etc....
Any help would be welcome.
Thanks
When you say Full Wipe, it means Factory reset ?
Did you try to restore a Backup with CWM or TWRP ?
Yes factory reset. I tried restoring with CWM but each of my backups fail to restore either failing to restore /data or /system.

Yes to all the above. Did the stock ROM one hour ago and doesn't boot loop buts just sticks at the iconia tab logo. Also when I try to get recovery now I just get a dead Android picture.
Edit: Using Stock ROM I get a message that Android is upgrading Optimizing aa 1 of 46, 2 of 46, 3 of 46 and it then retorns to the iconia tab logo and stays there
I finally got the tablet working again by installing the original ROM using fastboot for each of system, flexrom, boot and recovery. I then installed 10.2 which works OK apart from the fact that when using Titanium to restore my apps the tablet reboots randomly. So far I've only managed to restore 10% of my apps.
EDIT: Constant reboots now regardless of what I'm doing, downloading, installing etc. Going to try another ROM, 10.1 or AOKP. On 10.1 now, restoring apps from Google works for a while but after a certain stage random reboots starts again.
Lastest, back in endless boot loop. Tried restoring by fastboot but flexrom restore fails every time.
I have a similar problem on my A700... Installed 10.2 and then suddenly did not boot anymore. Tried to flash the nighly before the newest one but id did not change. Then i made a backup in CWM and formatted DATA. Now i boots but if i restore the backup, it won't boot. I can find my files in a 0\0\0\0\0 Folder or something like that. So nothing is lost, but it's not in the running system.
How to restore these files and apps?
After at least 25 wipes and flashing various roms 10.1 10.2 and AOKP I think my tablet is reasonably stable now. I formatted - /data /system /flexrom internal storage, everything except the external sd a few times then installed and have only had one random reboot since 2am. Instead of restoring from titanium or direct from Google I reinstalled all my apps individually and the restored my data from titanium. Hopefully this will be the end of this.

So I have been using Hyperdrive for a while now and love it.
But my gps doesn't lock on, i know there have been plenty of topics on it.
But i thought that since I was not able to do a complete factory reset that this could be the source of error.
I am using CWM 6.0.1 and every time I try to factory reset my phone it gets stuck on formating /data. It ran all night last night with no prevail.
I have no idea what to do.
I tried to flash TWRP over CWM but cant figure out how to do that either I guess.
I run Ubuntu and have heimdall installed but am missing the proper librarys to factory reset
so I am at a loss and would appreciate any help I can get
Thanks ahead of time
If I were you sir, I would odin back to stock and start over. And you can use ROM Manager to flash CWM, and use Goo manager to flash twrp over CWM, You would not be able to restore a backup of CWM with TWRP and vice versa. Hope this helps.
