I've unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device. When i go to recovery through rom manager or fastboot, the Android with the stomach open appears with the red triangle above.

that is the stock recovery.
you need to flash a custom recovery if you want to flash roms/kernels/mods.

Hello all,
Im trying to flash a new recovery image, but none seem to be working. Im not sure if you're familiar with the file names, but Ive tried "recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-crespo.zip" and "3101-orange.img"(j_rodd's modification of koush's). I tried to go to the source but it seems koush's site is down right now.
The phone is unlocked, however when I select recovery from the bootloader the phone shows a package unboxing image and then an android next to an exclamation in a triangle. Regular boot is fine.
Thanks in advance.
you're doing this in bootloader, right?
You have to be in bootloader, open cmd on computer and flash through there.
You can find 3.1.0.1 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988686

Are you on stock rom? if yes, then no matter how many times you flash the custom recovery(cwm or jrodd), once you reboot your phone and enter recovery, you'll always end up with stock recovery.( the image you are getting android next to triangle is that of the stock recovery)
what you should do is enter bootloader, fastboot flash ur recovery, and from there (without reboot) enter recovery directly. i would recommend you flash a custom rom.
After pressing the usual recovery keys combo, what I see is a green android with a exclamation mark on the screen. It just stay there. What should I do?
No one
I have the same problem.
I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093403 to unroot my devices (i had rooted + cwm 8.4.4.11 ROM). All went well except that i didn't had a bootloop so i didn't do the last pass.
After that i can't go anymore in recovery mode, i receive the green droid with yellow exclamation mark.
I even tried to use nvflash following this thread http://tabletroms.com/forums/transf...ash-stock-3-1-recovery-roms-update-3-2-a.html, but still can't get into recovery mode.

Thanks for the info. If that's the case, what should I do if I need to flash a different recovery rom? I need to root my TF.

How to root when I'm stuck at the stock recovery screen. Any advise on how to bypass this stock recovery option?

You have 3 choices:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198303
each one will root and optionally install ClocWorkMod recovery.
You don't need to be in recovery mode to root; recovery mode (with cwm installed, not stock recovery) is used to install custom rom / Kernel.
i can only boot a rom when i choose the recovery option from the bootloader. its the newest possible bootloader.1.14.005 i think.if i want to install a rom i have to go to the bootloader, then install open recovery with fastboot then reboot the bootloader , then reboot to the newly installed recovery wipe everything , install the rom, power off.boot into bootloader load the kernel with fastboot, then restart the bootloader an then if i want to boot in to the rom its just stays on the logo with the red warning, so i taught its a brick but then went to bootloder and chose recovery - this way is boooting the rom.
Please could someone explain it to me - is that the way to do it for now???
Tried to install open recovery from goo manager its says installed but its not, still boots the rom instead.
It sounds like you're flashing the boot image into your recovery partition instead of into your boot partition.
You are the man .Thanks ))
i am using Android L downloaded from google and want to go back on Parandroid but when i switch it to recovery mode...no recovery mode is der ..only recovery screen black screen with android....when i try to download th e twrp app it is saying you dont have root permissions. On the fastboot mode when i do fastboot oem unlock..then it says it already unlocked...:crying:..

Just flash a new recovery by fastboot. Everything should be just fine.

Yes, fastboot flash recovery.
However, i'd recommend full return to KK stock first or you may misplace your sdcard data so back that up to computer then return to stock. From there, flash recovery

I dont know that the official preview repartioning the device or not and what changes made on the configs because i dont try that.
Maybe you can try everythings from the begining, so flash the latest KitKat factory image and after upgrade your recovery. I think its a faster way if you dont have enough knowledge. No need flash radio etc.
Basically with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img should work after you cleared the recovery partition ( fastboot erase recovery )
If you want testing a recovery how it works without flash just type: fastboot boot recovery.img, after rebooting your phone, your device looks like before with no changes, if it working than you need flash and use it.

When the image of an Android with a red triangle appears:
While holding down the Power key, tap the Volume Up key.
That should get you back into the custom recovery that you just flashed

This screen is part of stock recovery.
I am having some issues trying to flash Recovery (TWRP). When ever I try to boot to Recovery after flashing it, it says "No command." even after I did everything correctly.
My Nexus 5s bootloader is unlocked and I am currently running Marshmallow 6.0.1 if that matters.

What do u mean it says no command, do u mean u still end up in stock recovery, the one with the android and triangle? If that's what's happening then u aren't flashing twrp correctly, or ur not booting strait to recovery after flashing it, how are u flashing it, via command line? If so do this:
fastboot flash recovery "recovery name here".zip
fastboot reboot recovery
That should fix your issue, if u don't boot straight to recovery after u flash it, or if u use something like flashify, when the device reboots it overwrites recovery with the stock recovery, which is what ur seeing

And after flashing the custom recovery again, do not unplug the USB cable or let the device boot. After flashing the recovery, the display should go back to the bootloader, use the volume rocker to highlight recovery, press the power to get into recovery. This will make sure that you flashed right this time. The TWRP logo should be display if everything goes right.
Recovery is flashed with the fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery name-of-file.img".

Yeah, sorry for missing that.. And do you need a rooted device in order to flash a TWRP?
Root is not required to flash a custom recovery or a custom rom.

It seems to me that this is only required with TWRP 3.0.0 while 2.8.7.1 will happily survive a normal system boot. I've tried right now, just one phone, back to back tests, no other changes.
How come the phone overwrites 3.0.0 with stock but leaves 2.8.7.1 untouched? This is weird.
Am I missing something, perhaps?
