[Q] Languages for Android OS - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone;
Today, i made a decision to update my GT-P5510 tablet to Android 4.2.2 via download its file from Sammobile...
But, there was only one problem here; I am living in Turkey but there is no offical update upper than android 4.0.4 for my country...
So, i need to use English version... I agreed that, i gone to website than dl the firmware than installed it to my tablet via Odin...
After the update i see a suprise!..
Dadadaa!.. My tablet updated to Android 4.2.2 successfully but still Turkish!
But i really cant understand how can it be? Can it be linked with Gapps (offically come installed with Stock ndroids as you know) why my language is Turkish?
So, if operating systems languages nıt important, why there is a lot of different language version for an offical stock rom?
Can anybody explain this surprise for me?
Thanks...

Let me tell you by an example:
It's not necessary for President to know people, but for the people they have to know President. :sly:

The difference between those versions is not just languages... Most ROMs contain many languages that you can select from, that's not really a surprise (although the selection varies by region). The difference in versions is what's called CSC (Customer Sales Code, or Consumer Software Customization, whatever it is). It determines the list of supported locales, and your default locale (language, formats), settings for your carrier(s), etc. Basically, it's a bundle of settings specific to a region of a product distribution.
As for how your phone automatically recognized your language, I am not 100% sure, but it could be by carrier, or by physical location based on the network. For example, when I installed European-based ROM on my old Galaxy S2, it recognized my language as English (Canada). The funny thing is that Canadian English does not even exist as an option in that ROM -- if I change it later to US or British, I can't go back to Canadian, because it's not listed! But it's still set like that during the initial setup. Go figure...

He is looking for the international version of the fxz for the ME865, not the Chineese, or US AT&T version.... he flashed our ROM and now his SIM is AT&T locked....
First question, do you have the MB865(American version) or ME865(Chinese version)?
NVM reread it and seen Jim's post

do we even have an international fxz? if we do does it work on our phone?
Originally the phone i took it with the ME865 Asian version probably because Chinese was not the main language when i start the phone.
after i mess up with the phone and i was not able to restart it
i download the USA version from AT&T but as i said the software is locked only with AT&T sim card so i cant use 3g network since my provider is from Middle East (Dubai)
i found later on and i download the Chinese version ME860 but main language is Chinese so after starting up the phone even if i choose English some part of the phone and some notifications remain in Chinese language.
what am looking is the Asia version ME865 or the official Rom comes from Motorola its self and not from any specific provider
sorry for the confusion but with my S2 i didn't had this problem that the only reason i regret buying Motorola

Your first issue was flashing a ROM that does not support all the hardware. Now I can link you to the ME865 fxz, but it is the Chinese version, and it is not a "Motorola" blank slate, it is from a carrier, ALL ROMS that are stock come from a carrier, that is how it works.
Here is the true ME865 fxz, but that is the Chinese version, and you HAVE to flash that first, since that is the hardware you have, you might have to download some languages to from the market to get it all to work in your native language though:
http://4tel.mobi/edison_china_5.5.1-1_GC-86_EDSCHN-6_cfc_ME865_bbs.mfunz.com.rar
For good and for Bad luck i already have both version
i really appreciate your support i
new that the XDA guys are nice but i never expect so much
i will stick at the moment with the AT&T version till later on (i really hope) to get the availability with more stock Roms.
the thing is that the Chinese version you send me is the same as the one i have already and based on what i read on the net is only for china but the one was on my phone was the official Motorola unlocked software which as i see at the moment is not yet available for download
thanking you one thousand times for the support and hope in the near future to get what i am looking desperate for.

P6210 Offical Samsung UK Stock ROM

Hi all,
I am trying to follow up on the rumours of ICS being released in the UK via Kies. However, I have a US firmware on my SGT 7+ (P6210UELA3) and I'd like to get the UK version (or EU if there isn't a UK one) on there to see if I can grab the ICS update.
Does anyone have a link to the official UK/EU firmware from which I can grab and flash the ROM?

He heard it here from qubeuk user: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28725729
It may be a short-term released firmware he accidentally updated to, but it's not available yet. According to its build time, it was compiled some hours after the P6200 firmware.
I understand Samsung strategy. Releases only one firmware per device per week, only for one small region. They know xda members will jump on it, install it, and besides Austrian users, experienced users will stress-test the firmware. Maybe they solve bugs, too, like the P6800 WIFI bug (and I bet this can be applied to P6200 users, too, check P6800 forum). After testing that, they will fix all errors and release firmwares for all regions and all models in a few weeks.
And, they're right. No better and cheaper testers than experienced users. And this way, simple users will just get a stable version later.

I don't wanna get into a useless fight but think it over again. Open your eyes and see what happens when a device like tab7+ comes to surface months after ICS is introduces with HC installed and almost a year is needed to get ICS in a very limited region first, but letting experienced users to install it on their device. Why? Money?
Believe me, this is the strategy. This way, major bugs affect only a few "official" users (Austrian people), but experienced ones can find all bugs by using and testing devices for free. Why? Less investment?
So, "sorry", but believe this is how it works. And I believe your opinion is based on decades of software production knowledge, but mine is.

You are completely wrong about the ICS timeframe just so you know. Its only been on the street for 7ish months. And on tablets for farrrrr less time.

You're completely right! I remembered that G7+ was released in February but now I see it was released in last October. Sorry, my bad. Anyway, it doesn't change my opinion on Samsung firmware upgrade policy.
Official UK ICS 4.04 GT-P6210 Firmware
Here is the link for the official UK 4.04 ICS firmware for the P6210 I've downloaded and installed via Odin today on 2 6210's no problems and much better than honeycomb. I also change my CSC as mine was set to France and now set to UK so updates via Kies work etc.

I used a program from the play store which change the CSC from XEF (France) to XEU (UK) link below. It didn't state that it work for the GT-P6210 but did work fine with a little messing. If I ran it from 3.2 Honeycomb it didn't come up with any options to change the CSC and just showed I was on XEF (France) CSC so what seemed to work for me is to factory reset 3.2 (or 4.04 if you have already installed update)and leave it at the language selection screen do not enter any set-up details then turn off and enter download mode and flash 4.04 firmware from Odin. Once that's finished complete initial set-up and get into the 4.04 OS and install CSC selector from the Play store and run it selecting XEU (UK) from the list and install the new CSC. This will automatically do another full reset on the device changing the CSC to the new region and will now updates OTA or through Kies no problem as your CSC matches the firmware (this is confirmed when you open Kies as it shows the CSC on the initial screen).
Whenever you change the CSC it always wipes the device a little annoying but only needs doing the once so not a big problem to get the device right.

[Q] Switching firmwares

Hello friends, I'm trying to fix up a GT-N8000 for a friend, it's got ZCBLL5 firmware on it(he got it from china somehow). It did not come with the play store(or any google apps), and since he's an apple guy, he turned to me for help. As it's not my tablet, and i haven't messed much with samsung devices, i don';t want to brick it, so i'm turning to the xda community for a bit of help. We're located in canada, however i see there isn't a canadian firmwrae for this variant. Which would be the best region FW to install, and would it mess up the 3g ability, like would it mess up the IMEI or the CSC. Or would i be better off to root and sideload/flash GAPPS? And would the 3g still function here in canada with the chinese FW. Thanks in advance
Well the german firmware is the one which is updated first so I would advice either the German one or the Nordic one, once you do that you will stop receiving OTA and will have to manually update. I am from India and have installed german and Nordic ones cell services just work fine. The issue with IMEI getting messed to my knowledge will happen only with custom roms.
Once you install any of these roms you will get gapps automatically

[Q] update (how to?)

hello there!!!!
i know that the title sound very lame? very once again this title, but i really need your help
here is the deal, my GF gave me for my BD (in may) the tab 2 10.1 (p5100) she bought it over amazon (us) so i was so happy with the tablet, then i read hat there was an unpdate (4.1) so i try to do it over the air, no look, then over KIES, and the program show me a window that say: 'your device does not support upgrading via kies' so, why? i thought, then do a google search, and i found that my tab is for African market, (WTF) kenya to be exact,
this is the information about my tab:
pda: P5100XWBLE4
csc: P5100OJVBLF1
modem5100XXLE4
then i read my tab is region free? i mean is not looked with any carrier or something
so, thats the deal, and now i want to update it, and here are my questions
1.- i read that i can update via Odin, but do my tab need to be with the unlock bootloader to do so?
2.- my tab is still 4.0.4 and i know that there is an 4.2.2 official update but i don't know wish one is better (the 4.1) or 4.2
3.- i already download odin and the oficial 4.2.2 france room (does this come in spanish? because i live in honduras (thats why my bad english and sorry about it) and my GF does not speak english
4.- anything else i should know about?
i want to keep it oficial at least 6 months more (then will look for a room) Thanks in advance for your reads and your answer
Your answers:
1. No
2. Off course 4.2.2
3. It depends on ROM whether they supports or not, but ya I hope Samsung will, to check upgrade your tab to 4.2.2. Then go to SETTINGS > LANGUAGE AND INPUT > Choose your default language
4. Don't ROOT or install any custom ROM if you want it to keep it official, they will modify for settings.

From where did you buy this phone?
If you selected the language, then all default apps should change to the selected one. Make sure you didn't buy a fake S8.
Check these signs: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-spot-a-fake-samsung-galaxy-s8/
won't help with Samsung apps - you're going to lose that functionality (nothing missed), but just download HK firmware and use ODIN to install. Simply install a vpn apk such as expressvpn and you will now have google in china!

Might need to be careful with which HK firmware you upload... I can't read Chinese so, I'm unsure. But I made certain that I used the right one for the HK 6gb phone, as I wasn't sure if it was the same for the 4gb phone with less storage and exact same model number. Good luck.
