P6210 Offical Samsung UK Stock ROM - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Hi all,
I am trying to follow up on the rumours of ICS being released in the UK via Kies. However, I have a US firmware on my SGT 7+ (P6210UELA3) and I'd like to get the UK version (or EU if there isn't a UK one) on there to see if I can grab the ICS update.
Does anyone have a link to the official UK/EU firmware from which I can grab and flash the ROM?

He heard it here from qubeuk user: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28725729
It may be a short-term released firmware he accidentally updated to, but it's not available yet. According to its build time, it was compiled some hours after the P6200 firmware.
I understand Samsung strategy. Releases only one firmware per device per week, only for one small region. They know xda members will jump on it, install it, and besides Austrian users, experienced users will stress-test the firmware. Maybe they solve bugs, too, like the P6800 WIFI bug (and I bet this can be applied to P6200 users, too, check P6800 forum). After testing that, they will fix all errors and release firmwares for all regions and all models in a few weeks.
And, they're right. No better and cheaper testers than experienced users. And this way, simple users will just get a stable version later.

I don't wanna get into a useless fight but think it over again. Open your eyes and see what happens when a device like tab7+ comes to surface months after ICS is introduces with HC installed and almost a year is needed to get ICS in a very limited region first, but letting experienced users to install it on their device. Why? Money?
Believe me, this is the strategy. This way, major bugs affect only a few "official" users (Austrian people), but experienced ones can find all bugs by using and testing devices for free. Why? Less investment?
So, "sorry", but believe this is how it works. And I believe your opinion is based on decades of software production knowledge, but mine is.

You are completely wrong about the ICS timeframe just so you know. Its only been on the street for 7ish months. And on tablets for farrrrr less time.

You're completely right! I remembered that G7+ was released in February but now I see it was released in last October. Sorry, my bad. Anyway, it doesn't change my opinion on Samsung firmware upgrade policy.

I used a program from the play store which change the CSC from XEF (France) to XEU (UK) link below. It didn't state that it work for the GT-P6210 but did work fine with a little messing. If I ran it from 3.2 Honeycomb it didn't come up with any options to change the CSC and just showed I was on XEF (France) CSC so what seemed to work for me is to factory reset 3.2 (or 4.04 if you have already installed update)and leave it at the language selection screen do not enter any set-up details then turn off and enter download mode and flash 4.04 firmware from Odin. Once that's finished complete initial set-up and get into the 4.04 OS and install CSC selector from the Play store and run it selecting XEU (UK) from the list and install the new CSC. This will automatically do another full reset on the device changing the CSC to the new region and will now updates OTA or through Kies no problem as your CSC matches the firmware (this is confirmed when you open Kies as it shows the CSC on the initial screen).
Whenever you change the CSC it always wipes the device a little annoying but only needs doing the once so not a big problem to get the device right.

ICS Update for Canadian 7+ Owners

Uh, has anyone in Canada actually gotten the update to ICS?
Seems awfully quiet up there.
bull****)Im not in canada but quite sure that there is no ics)
Sent from my GT-P6200 using xda premium
It was supposed to start rolling out on April 30th.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/30/samsung-canada-ics-touchwiz-rollout/
But all those Canadian owners of the Galaxy Tab 7.0+ who are registered users of this forum have yet to actually confirm this . . . .
I just confirm to VitaZora I dont have any upgrade for canadian 7.0 plus (no IR)

Check the thread garyd9 started - there have been responses. No update yet - and the release only to all those devices said the 7.0 Plus was ELIGIBLE for the upgrade, not that it'd be deployed on all those devices by May 1. The ICS upgrade is rolling out to Galaxy SII owners right now, but no official date for the Tab series has been given.
If I am right, I think I understood that the Galaxy line's ICS update was starting to roll out in Canada on May 1st, but would keep going on until all the eligible devices receive the update anywhere between now and the end of Q2.
No ICS yet
Hi; I am in Canada , have the p6210 wifi only and no ICS update yet through ota, have registered with Samsung as some have suggested, Kies says cannot update device through Kies, still waiting
sam mobile just posted a new firmware for GT-P6210.
region: P6210UELA3_P6210XARLA3_XAR
of course, I still cant find GT-P6210 anywhere in the firmware lists, 6200,6201,and 6211 is all I see for tab plus.
edit: Not ICS, HC3.2 found here with link.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522382
Will let you know if I find anything interesting.
wrong thread, I know. I got excited, as I said I never saw them post a 6210.

Interesting. I had wondered why sammobile.com hasn't had any firmwares posted for the GT-P6210. http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=3&o=1#osa
I don't see any signs of 6210 firmware at sammobile.com. http://twitter.com/#!/samkiesupdates

[Q] Software Update - choosing country?

Hi Everyone,
I got the Galaxy Note 10.1 as a gift for a friend. While I was checking if everything was working fine, I noticed that there is an option to chose the country for 'software updates'.
The device was bought in Helsinki, Finland and will be gifted to a person who will be moving to the US soon for higher studies. At the moment, I didn't chose any country and just let it be. Can someone let me know what this location choosing is all about for the software update?
For example, If I chose Finland now and later when the device is in the US, will it receive software updates only when there is an update released for Finland? On the other hand, is it fine if we already chose "US" as the country even though the device is still here in Europe?
Thanks in advance. Cheers....
The product code determines witch updates will be available not your choice of country to view the TOS in.

Thanks.
So it doesn't matter if I chose US or UK or Finland now for setting the software update?
But then why does the location need to be set for software updates when starting up a new device?

You are not setting any thing, you are choosing which TOS to read.
Follow up question... if I may.
My Note 10.1 came from HK (N8000OZSALI1) but I see that there are a bunch of 4.1.1 updates for other countries. Can I use those with my Note so I can update it (via Odin i assume) ?
Yep... Via ODIN or mobile ODIN...

Jelly bean OTA update not detected

Hello everyone,
I live in the UK and got my Note 10.1 Wi-Fi N8000 for last Christmas from my brother who worked in South Korea. Everything was in Korean and I switched it all in English and everything works fine.
The thing that bugs me right now is that I would like to upgrade to Jelly Bean but nothing new is detected when I hit the Software Update button... Do you have any idea why?
Is it simply not available for me yet and should I just wait more? That would surprise me as I noticed that JB has already been deployed in many countries now, and 4.1.2 update seems to be on the way...
Or more likely in my opinion, does it have anything to do with my tablet coming from South Korea?
In any case, what should I do to get Jelly Bean?
For now, my Note is working under the original ICS 4.0.4, and is not rooted. I am ok with rooting my Note if need be but if possible, I'd prefer not to use Kies...
Thanks for your help!
root and update with odin to get the latest 4.1.2 check the step by step guides first though so you know what you are doing.

you can't update OTA because the firmware that you are using is of South Korea.. so the only way to get JB is to flash it... and don't worry everyone here don't use kies... we use ODIN...
what you shoud do first is download these necessary files:
1. Odin - the flashing tool
2. the firmware you wan't to flash
optional:
3. root
4. custom recovery..
here's the link for guides and downloads - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080366
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016792
Thanks very much!
I would have a few more (newbie) questions still:
- Once I flash a new ROM, will I be able to get OTA updates or will it be never possible?
And actually I don't understand why using a South Korean firmware prevents me from updating OTA... How do the South Korean do then, they can't update OTA? If I got a South Korean IP by connecting to a South Korean VPN for example, would OTA updates work? Or am I totally wrong? :silly:
- About choosing the new ROM (I'll stick with the official ones for now), does the country matter or can I choose whatever I fancy? (I live in the UK right now but I'm from France so I don't know if I should choose one version over the other)
- And one last but not least thing: as my Note is from Korea, my device model is actually SHW-M480W and is not like N80XX.
As it is Wi-Fi only, it should correspond to N8010 but are you sure that flashing a N8010 firmware will actually work?

Difference between SM-P9050ZKAXEF and SM-P9050ZKADBT

Difference between SM-P9050ZKAXEF and SM-P9050ZKADBT
Hello, I am thinking of buying the Note 12.2 but I would like to know the defference between these two part numbers. What do they mean XEF and DBT? They are imported from Germany or France?
Thank you.
DBT is the German Unbranded version, XEF is the French Unbranded version. The only difference lies in the firmware (Which has the same code). The country code is just to indicate the country of origin for product details purposes.
There are a few small differences in the firmware (Shutter sound, for instance). But since you can freely flash official firmware without risk to your warranty, it's not overly important.
Send from my DBT SM-P905 with Tapatalk 2.
Thank you very much for your answer. I have seen your name on many threads about this device, so you have the knowledge. I have 3 more questions:
1. Is there a way to get the full list of the differences between the two firmwares?
2. If Samsung releases an update lets say first for Germany, then the German device will get the update and the French one will get it later when it is released for that specific country?
3. You mentioned that there is a way to flash the firmware I want. This is done without triggering Knox? Can you post a link for the official firmwares?

Sadly, no. Samsung never gives out such lists, and to my knowledge nobody has compiled one.

Yes.
Samsung's updates usually go like this: First release is for XEO, Poland. (That's where the test centre is located).
A week or three later, provided nothing goes wrong, DBT, XEF and BTU(UK) get the update. The order of which one gets it first varies, but they're usually around the same week.
Next up is the rest of the world. The US releases follow a different schedule because those devices have their own device number.
Sometimes a country decides to skip an update or two due to a problem, or because the newest update fixes specific issues that do not apply to that country. For instance there was an update for the Note 3 that fixed the WiFi passwords not being remembered. The issue didn't affect DBT, so DBT didn't get that update. This has been the case for the P905 on several updates recently due to the LTE whitelists needing to be adapted, which can only be done via an update.
3. You mentioned that there is a way to flash the firmware I want. This is done without triggering Knox? Can you post a link for the official firmwares?

So long as you flash an official firmware from the same region, it won't trigger KNOX.
You can find most of them here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-P905/
Keep in mind that you can only flash the same firmware number or higher. You can't downgrade.
Thank you very much for answering my questions. From what I understand if I buy the import from Germany, I will not be able to flash the France firmware because they are different regions, correct? I live in Greece, so you suggest finding a tablet with Greek firmware or importing one of the above?

France and Germany are in the same region. The regions are defined as EU/EEA, Asia, Middle East, USA, etc.
The Greek firmware also falls within the EU/EEA region.
You can cross-flash the firmware from any of the EU/EEA countries without issue.

Depends a little on what is happening.
If you don't get an OTA download, but you see on SamFirm that there is an new firmware for your phone. This can sometimes happen, in that case one way to resolve it is to download the new firmware from a reliable source and flash the phone with Odin. Once done it generally resolves itself, and the next OTA just works normally.
If there aint a new firmware for your phone like its a carrier specific version for your phone, then your out of luck, as you will have to wait for your carrier to make it available. Now in this case there are sometimes options, like i had one phone with a carrier software, but i could also flash the regions general firmware that was available, or one from an other european country. But how this works for your country, you will have to look that up.

For unlocked devices the upgrades usually take longer because they need to be sure that it will work with all possible carriers. As an example, I have a carrier unlocked device in Argentina and only 2 days ago I finally received the Android 13 update. So, did you checked in the official pages that there is a new version for your phone?
