Hey there i'm new here!
Sorry if my post is in a wrong section, i searched about my question but didn't find anything.
Was enjoying my new nexus 5 and tapping around in the section "About phone"
tapping at the android version as usually there comes up the image of the current android version (Kit kat)
and continue tapping at the build number it said "You are now a developer".
What does it mean?
If i continue tap there its says "No need, you are already a developer".
It means that you have enabled developer options. Press back and you will see that you have a "developer options" setting.

Some people have been reporting washed out displays on new nexus phones (Nexus 6p and 5x) and this has happened to me. However, I found the solution. Follow the following steps.
1. Go to settings.
2. Tap about phone.
3. Tap build number 7 times (or until it says developer options are enabled).
4. Go to developer options.
5. Scroll down until you see "Show Surface Updates" and enable it.
6. You should see purple flashing every time something on the screen moves. Scroll up and down a couple of times and then disable "Show Surface Updates".
7. Your screen should be back to normal.

Greetings.
Thank you for using XDA Assist.
I think you should read the sticky threads for the Assist forum, as this really doesn't belong here. Perhaps share this info in the relevant device specific forums.

Hey there,
So I just got an Honor 6X to replace my bootlooped Nexus 5X. I've been trying to enable the developer options in the menu but taping the build number won't work, any idea why? I literally just started using the phone 20 minutes ago.
Thanks
Dunno if you are on Nougat or Marshmallow, but just for reference the place where you should tap is the one that i underlined on the picture in attachments, i did the same on Marshmallow. If tapping doesn't shows a pop-up message as habit about the remaining taps to unlock the dev options, it's the first time that i hear this issue. Check it
As per the title, I've enabled the Developer Options menu by tapping the build number 7 times, the entry appears in the Settings menu but when I try to open it I get a message : "You must first Enable Developer Options". Is there another setting hidden somewhere else ? I can't find anything by using the built-in search engine.

Hello, No there isn't.
Reboot the phone, tap build number again 7/8 times and see if it works again. If your on branded firmware it's sometimes disabled.

I already tried this several times before posting here, and I'm running the stock Samsung ROM. Weird thing is it used to work some time ago.
Like two or three months ago, i opened up the developer settings with the "tap 7 times on the build number" method. And i used it, then i wanted to turn it off. To do this: i went to my application settings, found the "settings" app and cleared data and the cache. With this method, my developer settings gone.
So, i wanted to turn it on again couple of days ago, tapped on the build number and a pop-up showed up like this:
"No need, developer mode has already been enabled"
Then when i go to the main settings page, where the developer settings were in, there was no developer settings.
And yes, i know where the developer settings exactly is. So please don' t answer me like "check again", "tap on the build number for seven times", "restart your phone" or something like these.
And no, since i cant reach to the developer settings, i can't open the "OEM unlock" and "USB debugging" settings.
And i also tried the "Activity launcher" app but it didn't work too.
Please help...
Did you thy this one?

Just reset the phone if you really need dev options
From what can tell despite being enabled, I can no longer see developer options in settings. I'm assuming this happened after I rooted, because I had been in the setting before. I tried a few searches but they were all related to how to enable developer option.
You may need to re-enable the developer options again by clicking the "Build" number a bunch of time in the "about" section of settings, then developer options should re-appear in settings.

ok, yea that was the first thing i did when I was unable to locate it. I even searched it but nothing came up. What's odd is I kept going back, scrolling through thinking I was missing something...after maybe the 4th time I searched it again, despite it not working previously, but it showed up. So i am able to access it through searching, but I still don't see it in the settings list.
OK,
Might be a dumb question, but you do know that to get to "Developer" options you first need to go into "Settings", then "System", then drop down "Advanced", then scroll down and second from the bottom is "developer options".
If it's not there, then maybe go back into developer options using the search as you stated, then turn off developer options via the slide switch at the top, then re-enable it using the build taps and see if it then adds it back into settings.

wow, wtf. I used developer options already on this phone to enable usb debugging.
I had no issues finding it, I swear it was just in the list with the regular settings, the ones with the color icons next to them....but you're right, it was right where you said it was. Doesn't look familiar at all considering I've already accessed the setting a couple times before.
Thanks man, idk how long it would've taken me to figure that out.
