Busybox part of CM? - General Questions and Answers

I just installed Busybox when I saw, there is another Busybox binary on my system. Is BB part of CM, can I remove my downloaded Busybox from Play store? Thanks.
Note to self: ask Google first...
Busybox is part of CM. But I may have lost the correct symbolic links to busybox. How can busybox set all links to the binary again?

[Q] Which busybox installer?

A lot of (rooting) guides contain something to the effect of "install busybox from Market" - but which one?
BusyBox by Stephen (Stericson): https://market.android.com/details?id=stericson.busybox
BusyBox Installer by JRummy16: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer
What differences are there, if any? Is there a preferred version?
Use the one by Stericson. The other one includes like 13 versions of Busybox which is unecessary.
ps. You only need to install Busybox if your apps require it. Apps like Titanium Backup include their own optimized version.

Or if you're used to GNU/Linux commandline environments and like to have one on your phone, too. Yes, the commands are limited but god, it even has vi!
Can someone tell me what exactly is busybox, and what it does?

It is a set of Unix-like command line utils targeted at minimal size installation

[Q] Busybox 1.18.2

I have CyanogenMod 7.2 RC5.6 and I want to use supercharger v6 and the requirements are Script Manager and Busybox 1.18.2.
I downloaded Busybox 7.7 from Android market, but it does not include 1.18.2.
I checked into Busybox change log and found "busybox-1.18.2.tar.bz2", but is not executable.
How can I proceed?
use this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer
Busybox 1.18.2
In Google Play, shows that this app is incompatible. I downloaded through other sites and I'm experiencing problems with Superuser.
When I restarted my phone, I lost the app Root Explorer and Script Manager, basically some of the apps that are on SDcard.
What is going on? How is this possible, losing some of the apps that are on Sdcard, but not all of them?
P.S: I have Sdard 8gb class 4, using S2E with Sd-ext4 1gb.
Please give me a general picture of what might be the problem/problems!!
best busybox
If you are using cm7.2 rc5.6 then you will be surely having the latest busybox installed. Check your current busybox version using busybox installer. And btw v6 supercharhlger requires any busybox above version 1.16.2. So if your busybkx version is above version 1.16.2 then go for installing the script.

[Q] Help installing Busybox

I got a rooted TF300T with .30 stock firmware, and I wish to install Busybox.
How do I do it? There's a Busybox app at play store, but something tells me that it's more to it than just installing a simple app...
Just download busybox installer from the market and run it, it really is that easy.

[Q] Just a quick question about BusyBox

I wanted to try out AdAway on my N5 and therefore had to install BusyBox (Hostfile install didn't work before BusyBox, worked afterwards). But after AdAway did not work and I still had ads, I uninstalled it and then wanted to uninstall BusyBox as well, since I don't have any other app that requires it, as far as I know and I didn't have it installed before AdAway anyways.
Since then I feel that my N5 behaves choppier and more sluggish. Did I do someting wrong? Did the uninstall remove more than I previously installed with the app (installed and uninstalled the BusyBox binary with "BusyBox" by Stericson)? Or am I just paranoid?
My N5 is rooted and unlocked, No custom recovery or ROM installed.

BUMP. I also installed busybox by Stericson for ALSA mixer which is used for call recording. And I am also a bit scared of the busybox:
- Will it prevent OTA updates if I am totally stock (even recovery) with root only
- Why uninstall disclaimer is so fearsome. It is saying that it is possible that all rooted apps will stop working and even ROM can become unstable. Is it true with stock rooted nexus 5?

[Q] Messed up Busybox

Hello,
I am unable to install busybox
it says that "it looks like the installation of busybox was not successful.." and asks to install in some other location.
I tried Xbin and Bin but it could not be installed properly.
All app which need root permission are working fine.
I tried to uninstall and re install ..re install using busybox installer.
Also I re-flash CM 10 beta 6 ( Format /System ) deleted xbin , bin directory and reflashed rom) but nothing works
Its confusing that even after deleting xbin, bin directory formatting /system reflashing CM10 yet busybox is not installing.
PS: Busybox was installed successfully on stock ROM it was for a brief period was installed successfully on CM 10 as well. But when I reflash my rom (due to some reason) and tried to install busybox since then I am having problems
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
