hey guys,
I haven't changed the rom on my sensation for about a year and recently tried to install MIUI 2.8.17 & CMX (Cyanogenmod 10).
However both boot up then crash during initial start up or shortly after.
I'm not really a noob when it comes to modding i know a bit about how to do it etc is there something i missed in the year ive gone absent from ROM'ing?
Any help greatly appreciated
You probably have an old firmware. Take a look at this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Hi Guys,
I am an IT person, but totally new to Android. I am having Samsung Galaxy S 4G (T959v) running GingerBread (2.3.6).
I had upgraded from Froyo to GingerBread using Kies mini... and since that I am facing a lot of issues running... like slow responsiveness, phone hangs, some times unable to make calls, very high RAM usage etc...
So to fix these issues, I am thinking to install custom ROM (Jelly Bean 4.3 - CyanogenMod 10.2). But I don't know how to do that.
What I read on thread is it first needs to ROOT the device, but I am not sure how to ROOT the device.
Please help me to ROOT the device in easy steps and install custom ROM.. (Off course without bricking my device )
Thanks.
Look at the second link in my signature. Instead of flashing the whole package just flash AntonX's kernel. Read the first couple of posts in the Heimdal thread and you will hopefully know what I am referring to.
From there, follow the directions in the OP of the ROM thread that you would like to flash. The OP will also tell you what works and does not work for that ROM.
I would suggest making a backup copy of your efs folder for the just in case..

You can find the Wiki, FAQ, lumin30's guide, and more here.
Like I said before, you have to search and read.
Thanks guys for all info and help.
I flashed cyanogenmod 9... it's working...
I liked the new experience (I am coming from stock GB) ... Trying out the stuff now...
thanks again!!!
I've done a fair bit of rooting and flashing in the past, but got lazy
On my Galaxy S2, I used the simpler Cyanogenmod one click installer package, which rooted my phone and flashed CM10.1 / v4.3
A week ago I updated to CM11 / v4.4 using system update, and now I'm in hell, the cyanogenmod website lists CM11 for the GS2 as a present release snapshot, and it's riddled with problems
I need a daily driver, not an experiment and I really need to go back to my old 4.3 ROM
I understand that there's no way to do that via system update
So my question is,
Can I simply run the cyanogenmod one click installer again and get CM10.1 (which the installer still installs)
Or would that cause problems?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Hello,
I have never installed any ROMs on my Android phone, since I lost my old one I got a new one the S2 Plus. My question is can anyone help me install a stable kitkat? I understand that I have to root the device, don't I?
Also anyone mind explaining what all the CMW's and Cyanogenmods are?
Cheers,
I am really having issues getting CM12 running properly on the acclaim i.e. nook tablet (bntv250a).
Currently running cm11 thanks to some really excellent advise from LS.xD on here.
But using the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/development/cm-12-l-lollipo-nook-tablet-acclaim-t3019125
Just can't seem to get it going. Really sluggish. Never fully got though the registration. Flashed the recommended recovery just like on cm11.
The thread doesn't really recommend a gapps just say they are available. Maybe that's the problem but I don't think so.
So if there is anyone actually using this old tablet and has CM12 working properly I sure would like to compare notes.
thanks
