hi guys,
i am new to rooting android, but i rooted my lg phone successfully but i wanted to get lg g2 keyboard so i downloaded a g2 key board and renamed my stock keyboard and tried to install the g2 keyboard. i some how messed up and now my lg l5 does not have a keyboard in it instead it loads up the voice typing when i start a new message or when something has to be typed. my original keyboard is not present in my system/app. can anyone help me to get my stock keyboard or any android keyboard in my lg l5.
thanks in advance.
Hari
in the meantime you can download a keyboard from the market then go into settings and change to the keyboard that you downloaded, by renaming your keyboard do you mean you have backed up an apk file? (By renaming the original) If so can't you just remove the keyboard you tried to install and then rename the original?

I couldn't find an appropriate thread to place this under, but this looked like the most logical.
I recently rooted my phone and installed a custom rom on it. The Smoked Glass v6.0.1. I find the default apps very annoying and found a way to make them disapear. I changed the .apk file in the/system/app section to .bak.
Well in this rom the Voice Search app is also connected with the Android keyboard. If I remove the Voice Search I also remove the virtual keyboard. The app is called VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk.
So I changed it to .bak and tried to install the android stock keyboard called LatinIME.apk. I also found the libjni_latinime.so. I pushed these to my phone using the SDK tool. One to the /system/lib and the other to /system/app. When I booted my phone up I didn't get the keyboard. So I also pushed the LatinIME.odex over to the /system/app file and it still didn't work. The phone ended up not being able to boot up, so I had to go into flash recovery and back up the phone.
So I am just wondering what am I doing wrong? I know this may not make sense as to why I just don't deal with the extra icon. But I don't know, I just want it perfect I quess.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
hi guys
i have installed the modifed Gmail.apk found here on the forum modified for showing all images from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847035 and it's not working for me, it always shows ONLY 5 images in preview, the same that happens with the "stock" android market gmail; i have a lg optimus one, modified kernel, firmware 10A for starters.
i tried to adb push the new file to the phone, nothing changes, then i deleted the modified file from the phone and reinstalled the original one from market, and i couldn't find gmail.apk in system/app anymore but now it works so do i have a ghost on the phone????
finally, what if i want to save all attachments at once like you can do via web when you connect with your desktop computer?? isn't it possible to save all images at once, they guessed you'd never do that on your phone?
to be honest, i dont understand why the apps on the android are not more user friendly. im all for hacking and mods but this seems to be too much, every time to mod things, hack etc etc...
thanks

So I have a Moto Triumph. It's well known Moto left out the auto-correct dictionary on it, so I found a thread with a few people who fixed it by replacing the LatinIME.apk (default android keyboard file) with one from their Samsung Intercept. I used the file they uploaded to replace my LatinIME, but when I rebooted it didn't show up as a keyboard installed at all. So I tried again using the LatinIME from my Optimus V and still no luck. I backed up my LatinIME.apk and .odex just in case but neither will make it reappear. Obviously I'm rooted, I've never had the problem before. Any help getting it to appear? Please and thanks alot. Also, I tried it using both Root Explorer and File Expert.
And I'm sorry I just saw the sticky, I should have read it. Please move this to where it belongs.
I have a rooted LG Optimus G, from AT&T. So the E970, in other words. My girlfriend has a Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I love her messaging app, and the stock Mail app (the same one that I would have on my Nexus 7). Now, since my phone is 4.0.4, I went and found the 4.0.4 system dump for the Galaxy Nexus. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to move the messaging and mail apps (and any others in general, really) over to my phone? I've come as far as downloading the system dump in a zip, and extracting the .apk and .odex files from the .zip file into my system/app folder. What do I do from here?
I have two phones right now next to eachother.
a GS3 with 4.0.4 rooted and a 4.1.2 rooted
I hate the new 3X4 T9 keyboard on 4.1.2 and want to use the old 4.0.4 keyboard. They changed ability to use custom words in T9 on 4.1.2 (only custom words work in swype now)
I have tried everything to move the keyboard files over and get my 4.1.2 device running the 4.0.4 keyboard to work
Please help me out
I tried moving the samsungIME.apk and samsungIME.odex from system/apps and the touchwiz.xml from ect/permissions and libxt9core.so and libdhwr.so from system/lib files and the entire T9DB folder from system/ over to their respective places from the old phone to the new via pushing them using root browser and an SD card with correct permissions.
The samsung keyboard won't even appear on the list for the new phone with these old files after restarting.
What am I doing wrong?
Is this even possible?

If someone can make this happen I'll happily paypal you some cash or prepay for a pizza sent to you. The T9 trace on my phone was worth that much to me.

My guess is ICS files are not compatible with JB.
