My home button has become pretty erratic. Sometimes it jumps home, sometimes opens the recent apps, and most of the time, nothing happens. Given the phone is more than 2 years old, that's OK.
Just saw a video of the I9000 dissemble and the author says this is mostly due to rust beneath the home button. Has anybody attempted this for our device? If so, can you guide me?
I know there are apps like Button Savior, but if possible, I would like to salvage the home button.
Thanks in advance....

OK.. Solved. Attempting repair is too risky, at least for a novice like me.
I just added this in the build.prop-
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Got awesome on screen nexus buttons.
Confirmed working on latest cm 11 nightly.
Btw found this on a YouTube video.

for CM 11 you did it using ROOTEXPLORER or CM file manager?? and is the code correct? coz for me its not working
Used the default cm explorer. Remember to reboot the device after u insert the line. The line is correct, no doubt.

The line is correct but when I go frm CM file manager /system/build.prop and edit the prop file the whole prop file goes blank and there is 0 bytes data file size?? any guess what going on?
---------- Post added at 08:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:36 PM ----------
in short if any changes are done to the build.prop file in /system/build.prop the size of the build.prop file becomes 0 bytes and the file is empty.... rebooting phone only ends up in bootloop since the prop file is empty... any suggestions??
Can't imagine what's wrong.. Anyway if you think it's a problem with cm manager, download Jrummy's Root Browser. It's way better for editing build. prop.

Hi, i want put the statusbar transparent, how i can make it ???
not for CM7
Thanks
Here you are: http://db.tt/NLlCoGi3 It is for 21e based roms.
Copy to /system/app and set permissions rw-r-r

Do it drain battery? Work with stock rom v21e ?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using Tapatalk 2
Not work for me...
I'm on prometheus project rom...
It works for me i have that rom. It does not drain battery. Put it too /system/app change permissions to 644 rw-r-r if you have odex file in stock rom you have to delete it(systemui.odex and framework-res.odex). Here is framework-res.apk replace it too in /system/framework i forgot. Sorry. http://db.tt/GIafT5JY
I recomend copy files too /system then change permissions and then move to folders they belong. Sorry for bad english. I dont know if it would work on stock odex rom

Oooo, I'm sorry, works fine, but i want like top part transparent, like this:
http://img.xataka.com/2012/04/HTC one X anĂ¡lisis Xataka.jpg
It is transparent 80% you can see it by sliding bar up and down, you will see buttons behind it. On home screen is some kind of black background so it looks like black.

After the jellybean update they disappeared and I used to use them all the time!
I'm running The Executioner 2.5 ROM, so a fix that requires root is alright.
Thank you!
Taken from one of the general posts : " If you want the Notification Bubble back just use Root Explorer (or any other File Manager program that allows R/W access) and goto System>CSC>customer.xml (rename this & then reboot) and you will get Notification Bubble back on the Lock Screen." GL!
To get the bubbles back just use a file manager app (I use root explorer), go to System->CS, and rename the file customer.xml. Reboot the phone, and your text message bubble will be back. I don't know if it works for missed calls, as I haven't had any since doing it.
Once you do this, you'll get the help message every time you have the bubble appear. It's annoying. Using Titanium Backup, freeze help, and it will go away.
Needless to say, you have to have root access to do any of this.
Thank you!
How exactly do I freeze help in TB?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Go into TB.
Go to the backup/restore tab. There will be a big list of files.
The name of the file isn't Help, but it is close. On my phone, it was the only file with Help in it. Tap on that file. A new window with buttons on the top will open. Tap the Freeze button. That's it.
I don't have my phone with me right now, so I am doing this from memory. Sorry for not knowing the exact name of the file to freeze.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Alright, thanks. I got the bubbles back but I can't find anything with help in it to freeze. If you get a chance, tell me what the name is.
EDIT: The closest I found was "Package Access Helper." Is that it?

I was bored with the solid notification drawer, so I decompiled SystemUI and made it transparent.
It looks nice so I thought I'd share it.

This only works with CM10, but can be easily made for any other AOSP ROM using this tutorial. Only edit systemui, framework-res editing for the toggles are not needed anymore.
How to apply:
Download the modded SystemUI.
Place it in /system/app using a root explorer or adb.
Reboot normally or do stop; start in a terminal or adb shell to do a faster reboot.
The color used is E0000000.

Check permissions. It should be rw-r-r.

Hi all i know there are various other threads in google on installing whatsapp on a tablet but some of the info seems outdated some is confusing some requires root.
I was wondering if anyone has successfully installed whatsapp on there 10.1 without root, as stated in the title i have whatsapp on my note 2, can i not just copy the files somehow and paste them into my 10.1? A step by step guide would be very helpful i know im not alone on this as it seems quite a popular problem on google.
This is what i see when trying to install whatsapp normally...

Would there not be a way for someone clever to just modify the installer so it installed on the 10.1?
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
I don't think there's any way to do that as the issue isn't local, it needs a sim card to set itself up with whatsapps servers.
I have it on my N8010 but I am rooted and sideloaded the app using Titanium.

This has worked for me on my Nexus 7 WiFi:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30498475
I just successfully installed Whatsapp on my 10.1 using the following technique which does not require root:
http://androidforums.com/nexus-7/62...-nexus-7-without-root-updated-12-02-12-a.html
You used to be able to back up the app with TiBU on your smartphone and then restore it + data on your tablet. I'm not sure if it still works that way.

Big thanks ... i copied the android forum version but with the latest whatsapp from the official site as i was given a 6 digit code on bluestacks whatsapp not a 3 digit code as stated in the instructions. i did run appguard on the tablet install though as stated and blocked phone permission. i got the code via bluestacks whatsapp on my pc as stated after entering my mob number. Funny thing was after all the effort it didnt even ask me for the code on my tablet. But its working!
BIG THANKS

you have so set correct permissions for bootanimation.zip
6-4-4 = RW/R/R
UID = 0 root
GID = 0 root
You can set it in file properties. I always use "total commander" for file operations as it has the best user interface.
