Screen cuts in and out when checking voicemail

I have had my phone for almost 3 weeks now, and last night was the first time that I have had this happen to me. Was trying to check my voicemail, and the screen kept cutting on me. When I moved the phone, it would come back on and then just cut out again. It made it a pain to try and input my voicemail password and menu prompts.
Anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix to it?

You wouldn't have been in an environment where the phone thought you were holding it up against your head by any chance?

No. I was in a well lit room with the phone anyway from face.
I have the same problem. It happens when I have to dial more numbers into any phone call (basically during a call)
It is hard to enter phone numbers or even end the call sometimes.
What is wrong with the phone?
Pretty sure this is caused by the prox sensor. It happens when i use my rt. hand to enter passcode. If I use my left hand it doesn't happen. Only happens on the dialpad screen. I think the sensor is a little too sensitive.

Thanks, I'll try entering numbers with my right hand and hold the phone with the left hand instead.

Black Screen of Death

I've had this happen a few times, and I think it might be caused by an app.
This happens to me when in a Call. 15 mins into call, phone locks up, reboots. Sometimes calls still going, screen is black and won't respond reboots.
I'm thinking it might be one of the two apps:
Google Music (Been trying this recently)
Google Voice (Has happened when using this)
I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues. I've gone down to bare minimum. No launcher, or major changes. Just the minimum apps.
Right now on EB 2.3.7 (Oct 10 Release).
Previously on EB 1.07 (Old release, but phone stable on it).
Haven't really tried any other ROMs. I'm pretty sure its not the ROM. Google Voice did cause Havoc when using it all the time and rebooted my phone.
Just wondering if anyone else has this Black Screen of Death.
happens to me too, but im on stock gingerbread. some times i turn the screen off and when i try to turn it back on, nothing happens. It also happens in calls as well alot. very annoying.
Yea I had that too. I think it is an issue with the stock dialer. I had this on CM7 too. I noticed it would do that after being on the phone for a while. Seems the proximity sensor would detect me removing the phone from the side of my head a few times, then would become unresponsive.
More times then I'd like, I would have to pull the battery after a call or until the other party disconnects, which closes the phone app and it comes back to life.
I've paid a few bills and ordered Pizza from a few places where they "can't disconnect" and require the outside party to end the call... which this bug would force me to try to remove the battery while still connected to the call.
MIUI's dialer is wonderfully awesome and has NEVER done this. MIUI is based off CM7 so I don't think it is the kernel or OS... but rather the stock dialer itself.
Try downloading Go Contacts and using its dialer or Dialer One. See if that fixes it... or just convert to MIUI.... or pull the MIUI dialer and use on other roms.
I have this a lot, very annoying but never while in call. Only when in my pocket, charging or when im doing something, shutoff the screen then try to get back to what i was doing, it will just freeze up with softkeys lit, or random reboots.. I went back to froyo, it hasn't happen in 2days now.. And as for the MIUI dialer, you cannot add it to any other rom

Same thing here, i noticed its when i place my cell in my magnetic pouch, it does that (black screen of death, no response, have to remove batt.)with the latest miui, any help will be so grateful.
the weirdest thing happened... i read this thread earlier and i was thinking to myself that i was lucky my phone didn't do this and i haven't experienced it. not even an hour later, i went to call someone, left a voicemail and everything. when i took the phone away from my ear and went to hang up the screen was completely blank! the soft keys were lit and everything and my status bar was even hanging up top but i couldn't end the call or do anything. needless to say i had to pull the battery all while still leaving a voicemail... i just thought it was so weird this had never happened to me before and now it just did. hopefully it's not a daily occurrence or i'll be really upset

Proximity Sensor Issues Nexus5

I got my nexus 5 just last month and is pretty much in the condition that it came out of the box. Don't even have too many apps downloaded yet.
My problem is that every call I make I have AT LEAST two disconnects because my cheek seems to have pushed the disconnect button. When I look at my screen after the disconnect, the screen is zoomed in and sometimes is even making another outgoing call from my speed dial list. I once had about 8 call drops in one call
I used to have a screen protector which I have pulled off, but the problem still exists during EVERY SINGLE CALL. When I put the phone on a table during a call and hover my finger over the sensor, the screen goes black right away. But when I hold it to my ear I can often see my screen blinking because its changing screens at random. I've tried holding it only on my right during the call, still happens. Only the left side, same result. Am so frustrated.
Spoke with google help several times. Did a factory reset 4 days ago. That fixed my screen freeze problem , but not the sensor problem. Since I'm in warranty, my option is to send it back to google for a replacement REFURBISHED PHONE. I can't even get my money back. Am so mad at their ****ty customer service.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, since I really don't want to exchange my brand new phone for a refurbished one.

Two options I can think of: Turn the screen off during a phone call, or hold the phone so the proximity sensor is situated where your head/face is. The sensor is pretty far to the right so it can occasionally miss your head thus turning the screen on.
I'm bumping this instead of posting a new thread. I'm having the exact same problem on Mahdi rom \ stock kernel.
This problem makes me crazy! I'm disconnecting so many calls!
Hey, any help??

[Q] Vibrations stopped working after 1 day

Hello.
I know this has been here posted million times, I just wanna make sure.
I got myself a second hand Nexus 5 yesterday, and today afternoon its vibrations suddenly stopped completely.
The way I know this for sure is
when I put the phone into vibrations only, and someone calls me, nothing happens, just the screen pops up with incoming call, no vibrations.
BUT, when I put the phone to my ear when incoming call, I hear a weird sound. Like it is vibrating, but very silently.
Should I just return the phone OR is there ANY way to fix this?
It's kind of weird as the phone was working 100% the first day, and most likely even before, with the original owner.
Thanks. Feel free to erase this post . Peace.
Press the middle of the Nexus lettering in, there's a clip that's loose

My phone has been pocket dialing the same contact for 6 months

It's gotten to the point where I have to search for a solution ASAP lol. My phone has been calling my uncle for 6 months now. This ONLY happens with his number and most of the time it won't even show anything on the screen yet it'll call him in the background. Sometimes I'm on the phone with someone else and I'll receive a call from my uncle saying I just called him. Just now I took my phone out of my pocket and it had been idling on my uncle's voicemail for 4 minutes. Why does this happen and why only to my uncle? This has never happened even once with someone other than my uncle. Seems to happen at least a couple times a week and during any time of the day (it's happened in the morning/evening/3 am at night). I need to find a way to fix this asap lol
Delete your possessed uncle's contact immediately..
He's probably put on speed dial so take him off
