Hey guys,
Just got myself an S View Cover on Amazon and while it's gorgeous and adds some nice weight and size (2mm goes a long way) It seems to really have no features. I was wondering if anyone knew of any tricks, tips, or maybe apps that can interact or make it more featureful? At this point I can answer, reject and hang up calls. That's about it. Seeing info is cool but maybe media player controls would be nice. Any thoughts or tips?

If your not rooted, there is nothing you can do. If your rooted, there is an exposed framework module that puts music controls and scrolls song titles on the sview screen. That is the only thing out there right now I believe.
Thanks for the update. I'm rooted but hadn't used XPosed for anything outside of modding wallet awhile ago. This should add some nice functionality to S View. It's pretty, just not featureful.

Thanks for putting this out there, any chance we can rev this so that the music and contacts don't force close? I'd like to see this working before I make the switch.
Great start btw, much appreciated.
what does this do? nvm found out its the same as carpanel that comes with the incredible but looks ugly.
No problem i like it cause the buttons are bigger, as far as making the music and stuff work im no dev or anything but im sure a dev could you would hav to have any other files that support. And with the DI being rooted the possibilities are basically endless.

I finally got around to trying this. A huge improvement over the default Incredible Car Panel... Would really like to see the contacts work but the ability to turn on the bluetooth as well as to have something as simple as landscape mode really makes this a winner for me and looks like it was well thought out. I'm tempted to get started in development just to contribute to this app... unfortunately I'm a script kiddie at best. But I will keep my hopes up that someone with skill can delve into this.

It's not overly pretty but it is fast and much more functional. Why did HTC leave out landscape mode??
Ditto, I would really love it if someone can fuzz those two items.
Everything else works like a charm, its so simple and functional
WooHoo - Last.fm button in Car mode
Thanks for posting this. I was getting so frustrated because I disabled the stock Music.apks and couldn't get Settings Profiles to load up either Last.fm or Pandora.
I however, would love to remove the music button as well from this dock. I want to be able to have my last.fm and Pandora buttons and everything else can stay (haven't experienced a force close yet..)
I have it set in Settings Profiles that when I'm on USB charger and headset/aux it activates car mode (no screen timeout) and runs CarDock.apk. Having both those apps on there would be awesome.
How many beers would I have to buy someone to do that..? Or, how hard is it to do that myself..nm, scratch that.
I am currently putting together an app that will change your lockscreen to vanilla, puzzle (Samsung-like), thin sheet (acer-ish), big slider (miui-type) or bar slider (sense-ed).
This app will allow music controls from default music player along with poweramp and doubletwist. There will also be weather ,displayed along with battery %. Lastly there will be icons for sms, missed calls, and gmail thay show unread/missed count and can be slide up at any time to view the associated application.
I am working on this now, but want to see if there is a demand for this??

sounds good to me...
i think there is an app similar to what u doing btw... flockscreen... its not on the market yet i think.
but yeah... good stuff especially if u get the music control on it.
Me likeyyyyy the weather part of it
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on the IPhone. We now have the Htc Evo.
There are some lock screen customizing apps out there, but this one sounds nice.
It sounds like something that Google/Android/Sense should already include.
My only issue is I'm not willing to pay a lot for something like this. I'll certainly try a beta or give a trial a shot- and I'm willing to change my mind for a reasonable price. I've bought a few things for a few dollars each...
This app sounds like LockBot + music controls. LockBot allows individual icon customizations between the many lockscreens you can use, including iPhone, Froyo, Rotary, X10, and Liquid. There's another lockscreen, but the type escapes me.
I would like this sounds interesting

What about adding an agenda widget to the front?
the main (and only) reason that I'd buy this over Widgetlocker is if you make it VERY light on my processor and make that Galaxy S puzzle unlock PERFECT. That being said, if you do both of those things, I'll buy.

If I didn't use the Sense lock screen I would be interested. The weather part intrigues me.
Quoted this because you need to get rid of the last "s" in Chuck Norris' name! You wouldn't want Chuck's rath upon you, HA! I think I can hear the them song now... "Whenever you're in Texas look behind you..."
I would buy it. Not a lot of lock screen weather apps work half the time anyway.
I have noticed a few people saying that there are already a few apps that do this. Don't let that stop you. Obviously, if there are already apps that do the same, then there is a demand for it, and if there is a demand, there are going to be people who like one app over another. My advice- make it as customizable as possible- people like being able to make their phone look exactly how they want it to, and the majority of liking one over another comes down to how it looks, not so much how it acts. Good job and good luck.
-EDIT-
I noticed this thread is a few months old and kind of dead, however, I still hold to my statement.
any progress on this? Just Wondering
Yes please create it.......I would love the puzzle piece screen

Hi guys, looking for some feed back on my app. based on website sleepytimer.com
I've seen 2 apps on droid marketplace but all the comments I read complain that there is no alarm.
So my app provides the same features plus adding alarms. Be gentle
[edited] 10/12 now on marketplace (free)
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sleepytimer
This looks really good. I'll test it out and tell you what I think...
EDIT: This app is amazing. This will be really useful for me since I hate waking up tired and groggy.
I am making some small tweaks to the app as well as making a better icon and will upload it soon.
EDIT2: I finished the small edits! Check it out!
Hah, you noticed my typo Choice a mode hehe.
Can you tell me what else you did? I already had a revision underway and an icon+splash screen worked out
I kind of like your icon though too, I just thought of an interesting hybrid. Taking my icon and then instead of eyeballs, I'll put sunglasses on him kind of like some Oakley oilrigs and instead of a regular dark lense it will be the alarm LED with a time.

All I really did was changed the icon and fixed typos and stuff to make it look more professional. I also added some stuff just in case you want an 'about' tab when you press the menu button on your phone.
it's live in the market place now, I updated the op with the url. Feedback appreciated.
can u post the update apk here?I can't download from market.thanks
Wave Control uses the proximity sensor to detect hand gestures to control music playback (free version) and more (paid version).
Update (10/11/2012): Half of proceeds from app sales from October will be donated to Breast Cancer Research
More Info Here
Update (9/7/2012): New Tasker Support for changing profiles in Wave Control!
I developed this on the Note and luckily it happens to have one of the best proximity sensors (at least for my uses). Works best on the Note and Galaxy Nexus. Not so great on HTC phones and SGSII due to their particular sensors (much slower).
There are 4 basic gestures:
-Hover
-1 Wave
-2 Waves
-3 Waves
By default they correspond to Play/Pause, Next, Previous, Enable/Disable Controls respectively.
In the Pro version, they can be remapped to any of those plus: Turn Screen On, Volume Up, Volume Down, Launch Google Voice Search, Alt Play/Pause (for MX Video Player), and do nothing.
Popular uses are:
When driving, don't have to take your eyes off the road to try to hit a button
When your hands are dirty so you don't smear crap all over your phone like when cooking or working on car
While on the computer, you don't have to bother waking the phone to change the song (works even when the screen is off)
I'd like to see what you guys think of it. If you have any suggestions for new features or any feedback, I'd love to hear it.

thx!
works fine...more functions to enable/disable would be great
installing free app, the feedback is great. I will test this app.
interesting so much..

Thankyou for making this app!
I just bought the app. I just want to support your efforts and I hope you will keep updating and making better. My question though: I can't seem to get the "wave" to work. How do you "wave" to skip songs or play/pause or whatever? The hover works but kind of when I don't need it to so I said "none" to it.

You wave over the proximity sensor that is located between the front camera and the earpiece. I've got some demo videos on youtube. You can check the Play Store page each version has a different demo video.
Could you click on the info button in the app and send me an email? It'll grab the sensor vendor and model number. I'm using the international version and reeeally hope Samsung didn't change sensors for the ATT version.
Hmm just tried free version. Tried default music app and Google music app. No gestures worked, hover nor wave. I have a SGP Glas.t screen protector.
Your Sound Asleep app looks interesting. I'm just afraid of what it might record hah

I'm not sure if the SGP has a proximity sensor. Usually they're only on phones. Most tablet don't have them either. But, if the Play Store let you install it then the phone's profile says it has one.
Do any commands register in the Last Action area? Could you click on the info button and Send Feedback. In the email it'll list out the proximity sensor if there is one. Hmm.. might actually FC if you don't have one now that I think about it.

Heh.. yeah, make sure to use headphones to listen to the recordings if others are in earshot.

Sorry about that I have a Note N7000 with a SGP screen protector that covers the proximity sensor. Its a glass screen protector. The first time I fired up Wave Control it had a red circle around the status bar icon. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and it no longer has the red circle; it's working now. Something weird mustve happened first time around.
Just playing with it...I cannot for the life of me pull off a 3 wave gesture and 2 is not easy.
My suggestions for your awesome app:
-Adjust time the proximity sensor reads inbetween waves to make multiple wave gestures easier
-If there is a way to adjust the power? of the proximity sensor that would be awesome. I found myself pausing/playing music a good 4 inches hovering off my phone unintentionally
-Help section explaining on/off switches better
-Link from app to youtube videos on how to use hover and wave gesture as you see it unless I missed it somewhere
All in all a cool concept I plan on playing with a little more. Another bummer I'm finding is I have a habit of dragging my status bar down from the top right corner and I keep triggering a bomb diggity song hah. Sometimes when I type with my right pointer finger, my other fingers curl upwards and will trigger music too.

I have the same Note, you have the GT-N7000 international. I'm just on the ATT network, as its my carrier and I bought this Note on eBay instead of through ATT contract.

Oh damn acronyms haha was thinking Samsung Galaxy Player.
Unfortunately, I don't have any control over the power of the sensor. Man, yours is on steroids. Mine reads usually only to about 2 inches.
Thanks for the great suggestions. I do need a more comprehensive help section as this isn't the usual way of interacting with a phone.
For getting the higher number of waves to work, you have to make sure to clear the sensor and an easier wave to do it is with your hand palm sideways like a chop. The sensor is quick enough for it. Other phones can't detect it but ours can.
You can even just use a finger and wag it back and forth. One person left a review saying to space your fingers apart to get multiple waves in one swoop.
The first thing I'll implement is an adjustable gesture window to detect slower waves better.
I don't want to clutter the UI too much, so I may move stuff to a dedicated settings page.
Cool app. I bought the pro version to show support.

The proximity sensor is pretty much an IR LED and a light sensor. So there is some power use. From my experience so far it uses a bit less than the music player.

By the way, a little off topic from this app, but I love your other SoundAsleep app. Really cool concept, can't wait for more updates!

Thank you for sharing this app very nice app. installed and working very nice.
I asked this a while back wondering if its been made yet.
Went back to Slim rom but am missing the lock screen notifications that Carbon and a lot of others have.
Anyone know of an xposed module for this option?
I don't think so. But why not just use something like DashClock? I know it's not the same, but it can serve a lot of similar functions. And it gives you a nice lock screen widget, as a bonus!

Here, Nils, is what you are looking for. In settings you can change the notification to open an app instead of preview https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.roymam.android.notificationswidget
Are you talking about active display?
