Inline mic not usable on my N5. I need to shout and hold it in my mouth for it to work. Google is working on the software 'fix'.

What brand headset are you using that works? I have tried many and all have the same low gain issue.
low gain can be solved using custom kernel like faux's one and app like fauxsound if you're rooted, I'm using klipsch S4i with no issue at all

any help? they aren't loud enough
you can boost the headset volume by using amplifiers and using voodoo to increase the dba limit. For speaker, it's no blackberry so it won't be amazingly loud sorry

Yes! LOL
seriously I got it on 10. Also try best quality for better result and don't jump more than 3 or 4 increments at one time. Doing so will kick in a noise gate effect on the speaker and actually make it very quiet.
I hope someone can shed some light. I flashed the AOKP rom, while everything seems working properly, music control on lock screen is not working. I have tried a few music players, i.e. Kugou, winamp. Volume rocker skip track doesn't work either. anyone know how to fix it? thanks in advance.

Using stock 4.1.2 rooted, ktoonz and stock kernels.... any way to boost the headphone output /preamp? it's way too quiet! should have never sold my ipod.
Yes volume is all the way up, poweramp does help some since it has it's own DSP but it's an output issue. Can anything be edited to increase output?

seems to help some, poweramp with eq/tone adjusted tends to sound the best although a bit underperforming.
also when i'm playing music it acts like the cord became unplugged and I get the "earphones are now connected" then the volume drops to half, the cable is not bad nor loose so I don't understand why this keeps happening.
so basically the audio output isn't very good and buy another ipod? ok got it
When you plug headphones in the audio is going g to drop because of the safe sound setting. After you plug them in, hit vol + again. If you've already done that and its still ****, try another rom. My phone is loud as hell when I plug something in. Could also be your headphones

I'm putting together a bunch of media .ogg's for you guys to manually push if you're rooted. Otherwise you can use them as notifications or something.
INSTALLATION:
These are not flashable files. Extract them and manually push them into the correct system folder.
Spen audio:
Go to system / media /audio / ui
Spen Detatch and Attach NIN Closer. If your air button opens when you detach the spen, you'll need to backup two other sounds for it to sound right. Rename airbutton_open.ogg.bak and airbutton_close.ogg with .Bak At the end.
***NEW
Spen Detatch and Attach Lightsabre. If your air button opens when you detach the spen, you'll need to backup two other sounds for it to sound right.
Slipknot Media added. See post #21
Been waiting for this and the pointers

Awesome ty. I think it is in the actual apk for the ripple lock but I'm really new to this and don't know exactly which system apk it is.
*edit: it is in the frameworks-res.apk/assets/sounds and is a .raw format. I'm going to tinker with it tonight and see if I can get something not stock to stick.
I made my power off sound the theme from "Halloween" and power on "Jaws" if anybody is interested. I think i have the lightsaber spen too.

Most are too loud though. Not at all in tune with the media volume. I'm almost done with the lightsabre, testing the volume now
TEST
See if the volume is good on your phone. NOT FLASHABLE, extract and manually push, rename with a 1 after noti and delete .mp3
Doesn't seem that loud on mine. I dunno.

Q. How to use ThunderSonic Engine?
It is a sound control driver. There are two interfaces which you can control
1. Headphone boost - I made this feature because louder volume than max volume in earphones rushes more adrenaline in me making music more enjoyable.
Turning this On will give you instant significant volume boost in earphones which is greater than what you get when the volume is max. Just make the volume maximum and turn this ON and you will notice it
How to turn on:
In terminal emulator/ adb shell, get su permissions and then type
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/thundersonic_engine/headphone_boost
and use 0 to turn off
2. Speaker boost - In crowded areas I felt speakers of XL fall short in terms of volume magnitude. So I made this to increase speaker volume speakers beyond its limit and now my phone sounds even louder than those dirt cheap china phones
This is 8-leveled boost interface. That means there are 8 boost levels. The default is 3 on TZ
How to turn on
Code:
echo X > /sys/kernel/thundersonic_engine/speaker_boost
where X can be any value from 4 to 8 depending upon the volume boost you require To reset back to default use value 3
Use above features with caution. Using headphone boost for a long time may damage your ears. And do not use speaker boost for a long time. If for some songs you hear crackling of speakers then reset its boost level to 3 or a relatively lower level of 4 or 5
