i have had two nexus 5 and both have been faulty. the first had no vibration and when i tapped the phone it would vibrate. second just came and has a white stain on the screen which is common with lcds when they are faulty or pressed to hard... i dont know shall i take another chance or change to a g2 or something?

I went back to my S4 because of horrible battery life. The G2 looks tempting, but it is kind of old.

Hiya!
I would ask for a refund and buy the phone from another store and hope the phone is in another batch. The N5 really worths it and I am glad that I bought the phone even though it has a dust particle under the screen

Who says if you get a G2 it will be perfect? It is an electronic device, they will always be bad ones in the bunch. You were just unfortunate to get 2 of the same device.
I think it is funny to complain about the N5 and then ask if you should go to a G2. They are both made by LG. You think they make the G2 in their perfect factory.
There are a ton of N5 users with perfectly working devices so I am sure your issues are not the norm. I have yet to see anyone even mention the white spot thing.

I think when the N5 behaves the battery life is outstanding. I can unplug at 8am and then plug back in at 11:30pm with 31/2 - 4 hoursof on-screen time and still have battery left. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that battery life. There does seem to be some Google issues with battery the last few days but that looks like it is worked itself out or should at least get worked out.

I think you may have been a bit hasty. My Nexus 5 had incredibly bad battery the first week but now Its probably a bit better than my GS4 on cm. It gets really good screen off time which is great for me because I play lots of music.

Thanks for the responses. i might try once more but i also cant get over the viewing angles after coming from a gs4. the g2 has it better but not as great. im confused but i love this phone other than that

My new refurb from tmo

So I had to get a refurb do to a spill accident I had with my original phone. My original phone was great, no complaints and the screen bleed was barely noticeable. Now with the new one its worse but still not really noticeable during normal use. How ever I figured I would take some pics of it to see how it compares to others on here before I go and try out another refurb. What do you guys think, is this the normal bleed everyone has or is this pretty bad?
That kind of looks like my first g2x. I will be getting my refurb one a bit later today from asurion, I just hope its not any worse than what I had before.

Doesn't look bad to me either. I just recently replaced my G2x and the screen on mines has very little to no screen bleed at all even in complete darkness my screen is perfect. I received this phone 2 days ago (July 12). I'll take some pictures when I get home.

I would say keep it, it doesn't look too bad, and it doesn't really get in the way unless you watch a lot of movies. I received my refurb today and it is worse than what I had. This one has noticeable white spots on both upper corners instead of one like my original.

Got the nexus. And one dead pixel.

First one. White 32gb. And I have one dead pixel.everything else is great. Its not too noticeable and I'm sure there are people out there with worse that do not know.
My question is would you send it back over one if everything else is good and you're happy? To possibly get a worse device?
And if I kept it. My one year warranty can't I send it back and rma on the 11th month if I really wanted?

Hell yea I would send a new device back over a dead pixel, you shouldn't have dead pixel.
Contact google about RMA asap, don't compromise about the level of quality of your device.
With the amount of pixels in these phones its very likely you will get at least one dead pixel. If it really bothers you that much then go ahead and RMA it. Most likely though you will get another device with 1 or more dead or stuck pixels.

This is something you could do of course. I would keep it if it werent near the middle of the screen myself but I would also factor in things such as CPU binning, as well as any other defects like the vibration motor. Don't know how common that is since I haven't visited that thread for a while but if I had a near perfect device with a high CPU binning and the pixel wasn't very noticeable I would accept it. If i had a cruddy CPU binning in i would certainly send it in hoping for a perfect screen and high binning. Its a surprise Google RMAs devices with 1 dead pixel. Most displays have a certain threshold that must be reached and its usually higher than 3.

Same here. I had one dead pixel...so of course did a RMA. I was like you and contemplated dealing with it, but then I realized I didn't get a discount for the dead pixel So the phone should be perfect.
My RMA replacement shipped today.
All depends on what you're willing to live with. There are 2,073,559 other pixels that are working, so, me, I would live with it. Beats going without the Nexus 5 for an unknown period of time.

You would keep your nexus til your new one arrives, so your never without a phone. Plus my RMA took about 5 days to get me a new phone, including a weekend.

Why? If you can get a free replacement with minimal effort on your part, why not?
I have 3 that I can see that are brighter. Look like stuck BUT even though I know where they are, I just can't see them at normal brightness levels. The density is tight enough that dust looks bigger. I am not bothering with RMAs. I guess I am not that picky.

I have bought several devices with LCD's over the last couple years and no dead pixels. We are no longer in 2005.

Does it bother you? If so, then yes. I think you should either way, because even if it doesn't bother you yet, it will play on your mind. You didn't pay for a broken one, even if the defect seems slight!

I don't quite get how spending $400+ and expecting something to be exactly what you paid for is classified as "picky". Maybe you were raised with a silver spoon or something, but this isn't a $10 eBay purchase.
I wasn't "bothered" at all with a simple phone call to Google for my free replacement.

[Q] Nexus 5 to OnePlus One

planning to replace my N5 with an OPO, worth it or not?
Is it worth it to you?
Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk
Make your own decision
I did the same thing, now my wife has OPO and I'm back to Nexus 5.
I'm rather picky about display, and OPO has this yellow gradient discoloration at the bottom of the display. That is caused by the hardware design, so it is mabe by manufacturer (JDI) intentionaly (forget about that it will go away after some time or that it is caused by the glue or that UV will make it disappear).
JDI display manufacturer made LCD backlight diffuser semi-opaque at thar area to minimise light leakage but side effect is that yellow diacoloration (piss effect).
It bothers me, but my wife cant even notice it, so if you don't mind this go for it.
And OPO camera has rather slow shutter speed (if you capture moving object you will have ghosting wich you can't avoid (never PERIOD))...
Take this in consideration and make the choice...
For any further info (both devices in the reach of my hands) I'm available...cheers...

"Any day now..."

Was in an AT&T store today and met a rep from LG there. I asked him about the V10, and he said that the Marshmallow update should be coming any day now. I want to exchange my 6S+ for an LG V10, but oh man that Note 5 in gold was stunning (as well as the screen)! But would take the LG because of SD card and removable battery.
LG will release it then At&t will have to get their grubby little hands on it... I'm not expecting it until Jan/Feb at the earliest. I'd love to be wrong though....
Maybe root will be possible with Marshmallow.

Someday more likely, and if AT&T gets their hands on it..... It will probably be a cut, botched, and locked down version.

The Note 5 also has complete fail memory management (I own one). You're much better off with just about any other phone, unless you like having every single app reload every time you multitask back to it. LG has always done really well with the memory management.
Hoping it will come soon. Funny thing - if I still had my G3 I would have marshmallow already...

That only happens to display models. No one is going to keep their screen on 24/7 with the same static images coming on repetitively. Samsung screens are great once you change the default screen setting to a more natural setting.

Then you should look at some LG G Flex's. There's plenty of them with screen burn in. Happens to all oled/amoled screens even those not on Samsung products. I never had screen burn in and I had every galaxy phone since the first S1.. It's a trade off almost, you're trading ok lcd quality for superior image/refresh rate at the risk of some burn in which usually takes about two years of normal use to develop and by then you've moved on to another device so chances of it happening are rare. Unless you're buying the display model, I really don't see how this is even a debate.

Yeah, I can't make it close to a full day without recharging. And, I missed the free battery and charger by a month. I think they knew the battery life sucked and that's why they offered a free spare to "early adopters" SMH
I can go for about 15hr that's when I get back to my hotel from work and still have 40%. That's using my phone for videos on a bus for a hour each way to the plant. Videos at lunch and Facebook,Pandora, Bluetooth ( watch and headphones). Battery life is great for me

I haven't examined mine. The reason I haven't, is that I'm OCD and will most definitely find SOMETHING on any phone I get. I'm embarrassed to say this, but I've actually worked on this with my therapist, lol. All I did was check it for dead pixels. I'm putting it in a case tomorrow and am going to try my hardest to not check for defects.

LOL @ OCD.
Well, for all us OCD folks, I highly recommend the Otterbox Defender. We got them for free (normally $50 each) from a TMobile rep hook up via telephone sales. They also gave us Puregear Extreme Impact custom fit screen protectors too ($25), free, in case we did want to use the Otterbox (which also has a screen protector anyway).

For me, it's not a problem about what will happen to the phone if I drop it or anything, it's more about obsessing over there being a problem with it right after opening it up. Screen coloration issues, scratches, etc. And the worst part is having that thought that, "Well I could exchange it and get a perfect one. There's always that chance." That's never worked out. I've returned and exchanged so many phones just from obsessing. The solution is to just use the phone. Not matter what. The 4th R: (read the book Brain Lock for info on the 4 R's). Do what you would be doing if you weren't having this obsession.
Easier said than done lol.
