I got 360x592, Doesn't seem to be optimized for mobile devices, because on my computer it was correct.

Every web browser using Webkit have their resolution divided by 2, I don't know why, just that it's like that.
Habit browser, Naked browser and many others don't have this problem.

Hmm.. Let me naked browser
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Can't install naked browser... Habit browser still says same thing...
Even at 479x816 resolution, still doesn't come to proper screen size times 2... Hmm... Maybe I should try it on stock ROM?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

If you know the resolution anyway, is it really important to get a web site to report the resolution?

Ah ok, I see.

With dolphin it comes out properly, at least the width. Navigation and statusbar may reduce the height result.

[Q] saving 4walled.org images on NS

Until recently, I can save images from 4walled.org directly to my phone from my default browser. Now it just saves as a HTML file instead of JPG. Is it from conflicting programs or 4walled changed their format? can anyone else confirm this?
thanks.
I'm wondering the same.

[Q] xda-developers forum extremely slow on transfo

Has anyone else noticed how xtremely slow this forum is on the transformer? Navigating the pages and even typing this out is very frustrating. I thought it was flash but I uninstalled it and it is still very bad. Any help or info is appreciated. The default keyboard helps a little bit, but typing is very laggy as well.

I'm not experiencing this via the browser. Also, you may want to buy Tapatalk

So far this website really seems to be the only one I have problems with using the stock browser, or even some of the other browsers.
I did find that Opera Mobile seems to work very well with XDA though.

I'm having the EXACT same problem and only with XDA Dev's site. I got so frustrated that I wiped my Transformer thinking it might have been an issue with the ROM. Still same issue. Really don't want to use Tapatalk on a damn tablet but what can I do... At least I know I'm not alone.
Also, I did update Flas to 10.2 not sure it is related.
Yeah the app is so slow. I think its the app tho, whats tapatalk

It IS really rotten using the default browser. Firefox is a bit better. The worst part is getting that ">" new postings link large enough to click on it. In Firefox, there is an additional new postings link that is still hard to click but larger. Hopefully as tablets become more common, sites will make some accommodation.

This forum always gives people issues..
But it has a relatively easy fix.
Scroll all the way to the bottom right and then change XDA 2010 to XDA classic. All your problems should vanish!
I'm having the same issue on my Acer a500. I was getting ready to return it and wait for a transformer. I guess its just xda developers site. Thanks.

It appears to be the Flash ads that are driving it crazy, so no problem with those on the iPad heh. The TF tries to render all of them, and although they do work they are very slow.
You would think that without flash installed, it wouldn't try to render them, but it appears to get stuck on them for some reason. It doesn't make a difference with or without flash, still unbearably slow. Can we pay $5 a month to get the flash ads turned off? LOL...

I love this site & I would pay to get rid of all ads to make my browsing faster on my TF101. I'll have to try the classic mode which was mentioned in a few post earlier when I get home from work.
The xoom had the same issue and switching to classic worked for a while until they updated the xda premium app. Not sure if the xda premium app will work for the tf but I would try that.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Not sure it's the Flash ads. I have the browser set to only load Flash on demand, so the Flash ads are not shown. And it it's still extremely laggy.
I just tried switching to "XDA Classic", that fixed it. Ugly as hell, but it works now.

Chrome browser heats up phone

I've been monitoring my temp on my nexus 5 and notice that chrome browser would heat up about 20 degrees more comparing to Firefox, dolphin and opera. I almost get about the same type of heat while playing a game.
I've tried it with stock, Franco, faux and elementalx kernel. And got similar results.
It does run smooth but I miss my aosp browser with text reflow...

I noticed this too. I see that the CPU runs on max speed when chrome is open.
Yeah Chrome destroys the battery as well. Idk what's up with it. I hope there's a update here soon.

Google needs to restore the old aosp webkit code in 4.4. The new chromium webview is so inefficient. Ditch chrome for android and update the old aosp webview to the latest version of webkit and v8.

Really? Chrome pegs the CPU to max value? If true that is pretty ****ty of Google. It sounds like something an OEM would do to "fix" their weakest point, which for Google is seriously Chrome's lagginess. Sounds like one of those "features" that would get turned off in an update after all of the reviews are in.
Gonna have to test this out.
Good thanks guys, I figured I'll get slam for posting this. But at least now I know I'm not alone. It really feels like with the nexus 5 they are really trying to push Google stuff down our throat.
Just like the YouTube and Google plus integration.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I can confirm that Chrome does not peg the CPU to max value. It certainly seems like it ramps up the CPU higher than is necessary, but its not "cheating" like Samsung does for benchmarks in any way.
The Nexus 5, for me, heats up no matter what I do. 5 minutes of youtube produces noticeable heat, as does facebook and many other apps. Personally, I would suggest you set the max CPU freq lower and see what happens. Personally, I do not mind the heat that much, as it does not seem to detrimentally affect the battery life.
I've been using Firefox and find the phone gets warm and drains the battery fairly quickly. I have it set up to sync, are you using sync options on your chrome?

Somewhat unrelated, but do you have any issues with images displaying on some sites? I see nothing on bing images and ebay mobile, for example.

I did think about it for a minute. Nexus 5 without stock Android browser and YouTube integrated with Google plus is kinda like pushing us to use the service they want us to use. Which Google normally don't do. What I like about android was the freedom. I aware this will change with custom roms but its the direction it is going.
And I didn't mention other people app? Not sure if you realized stock android browser and YouTube is own by Google.

Checked Bing images and it's working fine on FF. I should also note that I have an addon to use desktop versions of sites checked by default.

On my phone chrome pushes CPU to max value until thermal throttle kicks in.

Nice grave dig.
It's a problem with Google. They'll likely fix it in a future update. I see it in a lot of websites.
The best fix for all chromes issues is another browser.

Google Chrome not smooth

A few days ago I bought an Asus Zenfone 2 for my mum and I realised how smooth chrome is on that phone compared to the S6. Anyone else having this issue where chrome isn't really running at 60fps?
Especially when opening and closing tabs, my S6 just drops frames all the time. I'm on 5.0.2 if it matters.
probably something to do with the extremely poor ram management on the S6, as chrome is known to be a resource hog. Zenfone 2 on the other hand has 4GB of ram.
It's not the high end zenfone, it's the dual core version with only 2gb of ram
Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
Try to enable Developer options and raise to 1.5x or 2x each of the three animation settings.
The length of the animation doesn't help anything. I'll post a slow mo video later. The S6 just drops frames so often.

As you can see, the S6 drops so many frames compared to an entry level phone.
Installing the latest 'Android system web view' made chrome smooth on my phone.
I did. Version 45+ for arm and arm64. Didn't help at all
Sent from my SM-G920I using Tapatalk
Ok, today I made a quick browsing session with Chrome, paying attention to smoothness, and can't really say to see something wrong.
I mean, I come from a OnePlus One that was very smooth (custom ROM and kernel) and my S6 is around 99% of that performance.
The heavy debloating I made might help, though.
I also have this lagg in chrome, but i must say its only on resource heavy pages (lots of pictures, adds, banners etc.).
I will reset my device in a few days. Went to the Samsung store and checked out their display units. Some seem to suffer from it while others don't. My phone is also pretty bloat free, only about 3 pages of apps.

Hmmm....
Try to turn Javascript off from settings. It will make Chrome more smooth.
Yes that actually helps dramatically but it breaks web pages

If you have couple of web pages that need Javascript you can add them to exceptions in settings. But if you visit mainly those pages that necessarily need javascript then this solution is not good.
