Low quality images when using Google search - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any getting low quality images when using Google Now to search? Try this:
Open Google Now
Search for "beach"
At the bottom where you have Web, Images, News. Click on "Images".
Select the first result.
Here's what I get:
(See picture below)
If I don't click on "Images" and just click the first picture result, it looks okay. If I search using Chrome browser, it looks okay.
I'm running stock rooted with Franco R14.

Mine looks fine. The first result for me is different to yours though, and I can't see yours anywhere in my search results.
I'm running the latest Team Asylum Omni build.

You are viewing them like in these attached images correct?
If I click on the first picture I see, without going to "images" first, it looks fine.

Name that Gallery App

I'm trying to think of this gallery app I had installed only about 3 days ago. I can't remember the name for nothing and after searching the market cannot find it again although it had a nearly perfect rating. I remember in the app details it being stated that it was "lite" compared to the stock gallery. It had a minimal look. It had an option for video to be displayed in it or not. It could also hide folders. I already searched the threads...it's not B&B Gallery, JustPictures or a 3D gallery.
QuickPic maybe?

Yes! Thank you! No wonder I couldn't find it, I kept searching under gallery.
No problem. I use this one, so your description looked familiar

[Q] Pictures not focused?

Any else experiencing pictures not focusing properly when viewing in Picture Gallery? It seems I have to zoom in just a little to get it to focus.
Try using "QuickPic" from the market in place of the stock image viewer.

Thanks...that's much better. But the problem with QuickPic is there is no way too add picture directories from either the micro sd or full sized sd cards. I have to go into file manager and open from there.
Apparently it's fixed in 3.1. Not that it's much use to you at the moment. .

It looks like quick pic had an update last night and fixed my issue. I can now see the /removable directory in QuickPic.

[Q] Why is my SGS3 auto resizing pictures for MMS?

So recently I just noticed that my VZW SGS3 is automatically shrinking images when attached to MMS. It doesn't matter how big the picture is originally, it shrinks it down to roughly 580X435 (252KP). It doesn't matter whether I start in he messaging app, then "attach" the file with stock Gallery, Quickpick, or a file manager. Nor does it matter if I start in any of those apps then "share" it to Messaging. I don't need it to attach the full 8MP image, just something bigger than a tiny 580X435.
My VZW G-Nex shares 1MP+ (1600X1200) pictures just fine with the stock messaging app.
Any ideas on how to prevent the shrinking / enable larger image files to be sent?
Both phones running latest CM10.1 and stock Messaging app.

Might be CM10.1 and build prop. Almost certain mine does not shrink down as I notice no loss of quality in pics sent/received.

Could be that, I was just asking people the same question and no one had an answer.
Only way I've gotten past it is to use GOsms.

My initial hunch was that it's a bug with CM10.1. It seemed to work fine while under CM10, then the shrinking began after upgrading to CM10.1. I'll give GOsms a try and see if that works.
Thanks for the suggestion.

My stock based rom does the same thing. I wish I knew why.
Same, stock rooted ICS. It should be noted if you save the image it is a larger file.

Not on mine.
Let me see if I can explain it better.
Image in gallery is 1600X1200.
Go to messaging and hit "attach" paperclip icon.
Use gallery / QuickPic / File explorer and select same image (or use "share" button if starting in this app instead of messaging).
Before even sending the image, it's already resized down to a ~580X435 (actual size varies on original ratio).
Recipient receives image in the 580X435 image, and it stays that way even after being saved.
However, when I send the same image, using the same procedure from my G-Nex, the SGS3 receives (and can save) the image in the original 1600X1200 size.
For some reason, as soon as it's attached to a message, the image is being horribly downsized.

Ladies and gentle, I have heard all over the forums that there are no good Wallpaper Apps or sites for our phone. Well I came across this site and thought I would share it here.

This site is AMAZING!! The wallpapers look amazing on our device. I personally have tried like 4 or 5 different ones and they always look great. No pixelating, stretching or distorting of any kind. The website appears to have 1000's available, and they are catagorized very nicely. And the best thing is that every wallpaper you see on that site is specifically for OUR phone.
So go check it out!!
Thanks for the great Wallpaper Site info Great Wallpapers

How to save Pictures in Android Gallery
Saving images directly from a web page displayed in the Android browser is simple. To save a photo to your Android device follow these steps:
1. Hold your finger down on the image you wish to save.
2. A menu appears, select Save Image.
3. The file is now saved on your Android device.
To view the image later, navigate to the Gallery app -> All Downloads. Any images you have saved in the Android web browser can be found in this album.
Here is what I found :fingers-crossed:

Digitial Watchface issue

I have a Nexus 6p and I'm trying to apply a personal photo to the stock digital watchface (installed on watch by default). It doesn't seem to apply the photo.
This worked perfectly on my note 4 (I understand that it was a samsung phone), but i know when you pick your own photo it supposed to take you to a screen where you can crop and adjust how the photo will appear in the watchface. However that edit screen is not even loading up...just wondering if anyone on the board was having this issue or is there something i'm supposed to do on my Nexus to allow this feature to work. I would really love to apply my own photo to the digital watchface again.
Thanks all
Nothing?
No suggestions or anything?
I have the same problem I can only assume it's something to do with the google photos app
I have a solution! As expected, the Google photos app was the problem. I tried downloading various others with no joy, until I tried Gallery Pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.badpigsoftware.advanced.gallery
If you select this app when choosing your image, the crop image page comes up and you can select the image you want
Hope this helps
