Im not sure, it just said install unsuccessful. I didn't try the one you posted above, since I had already found and installed one on my own.
The one I attached installed fine. Of course, its slower than the HTC gallery, but for some reason i prefer it.
It works! nice! thanks

I guess I should have been more descriptive... What does this one do vs the one in the app catalog? I have the 3D Gallery, it's fun...but what makes this one more special?

That's what I'm wondering too. Is this the "hyper-mod"?

How has this been modified?
The best difference is this one syncs with your Picasa web albums. It also looks alot nicer than the stock photo album but does load slower. I use it because Ive got about 8000 pictures organized on Picasa and Id rather not use memory card space for them.
I believe this one is the modded vanilla android 3d gallery with the resolution cap fixed and it loads faster.
Write this its great! Never knew about the picasa sync. Anyway to show only pics from camera? Right now it shows all pictures on phone. Thanks!

place a period in front of the folder that has pictures you want to hide. For example if you have a folder on your sd card titled pictures rename it to .pictures and it'll be hidden from the gallery. Keep in mind youll have to use astro or estrong to view those images again
How does this one compare to h t t p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752007

I think its the same one. I was simply looking for the APK. Once found it, I edited the thread and posted it for those that were interested.
does this one allow you to share to "messaging" on sense roms?
It does with handcent
This gallery is force closing like crazy on my Evo. Anyone else experience this?
Does this really load faster. I love the look of the 3d gallery but it loads painfully slow, especially when opening a picture from when you go through a file explorer or an email.
Don't know if its my TF only or an issue across the board, but images. from Picasa gallery or SD card seem to appear blurry and less sharp. Any one else observed the same issue?
I was able to reproduce the issue in 2 transformers. Same pics look lot sharper on my laptop.
Edit 1: Issue occurs both in the browser and the HC Gallery app
try using quickpic instead...
I've noticed this too. I don't think the apps are loading the correct resolution for the screen size. Almost if they are defaulting to a phone sized resolution.
+1 have to use quickpic to see full resolution picture. I really like default pic broweser better hope 3.1 fixes this

I just had a look a Quickpic, but it doesn't support Picasa albums. Don't think it fits my bill

Is there a way to get Quickpic to see the removable storage? I can't find my MicroSD or SD cards when I try to add more folders.

Same here with 1.1.3 (it was just released a few days ago), but 1.1.2 you can add it (it works). Unless I'm missing something in 1.1.3

I am using 1.1.3 and I can add and see my external SD card no problem. Photos look nice and sharp as compared with the stock Gallery app.

Cool thanks. Yeah!!! Quickpic is very nice. If I do a fresh install of 1.1.3. I don't see my /Removable, but I just did an upgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 and it sees my /Removable because it was set from 1.1.2. Now if I delete the /Removable and go back too add it, it's not there. Wierd
One issue or 'feature' I notice with quickpic and gallery is if you use the app to rotate a pic, the rotation does not save, unless I am missing a save icon?
If not any decent picture editor apps for honeycomb?
Bump.
I have heard 3.1 fixed this issue, but doesn't seem so for me. Can someone else please verify ? Thanks
I just loaded a bunch of the kid's pic on my sd and tested them on the gallery and quickpic
i did notice that the gallery now automatically focuses the pictures, where as before i would have to pinch zoom on every slide..
the autofocus is visible, maybe a second at most (seemed longer on quickpic)
Pictures looked great.
Thanks for the reply. The issue doesnt seem fixed for me
Hi all,
I am new to this forum and Android, so pleas ebe gentle with me.
I have been lookingat the new Android tablet/pads and have been taken with the ASUS transformer in particular.
My prime use for a pad is to view pictures from my DSLR (jpg or raw) and use as a picture album.
So yesterday I went to have a good look and play in store, and was realy impressed with both the pad and keyboard and the way the pad worked in general. I very nearly purchased there and then, but decided I had better try viewing images from my camera.
So went back today with both SD and Micro SD loaded with some .jpg images. There was no keyboard available so used the pad mounted Micro SD.
Heres my problem. The images were terrable with saw tooth edging and out of focus. It is as if the images have been resized for viewing torealy smallfile size which has then been streched to far.
I vied directly from the card and also copy and pasted to a new folder in th gallery. Both images looked the same.
I cant belive this is as intended. Is there a specific way to copy or view images from either sd cards or external drive, to ensure full resolution is displayed?
For info the images look great on a 20" display at home.
Thanks for your petiance
Sorry cross posted
Standard Gallery viewer has issues which should be corrected in Honeycomb 3.1. Pictures seemed to be scaled for a smaller display device.
There are other viewers you can download which work better for now.
I forget the name of the one I'm using (quickview?) but pictures look amazing on the Transformer screen.
Have you tried 3rd party apps? I have no experience with HQ pictures but I used the app QuickPic and it worked for me.
QuickPic! Yep, that's the one I use also.
Works great.
Hi,
Thanks for your input.
I bought the pad with keyboard, downloaded quikpic as sudgested, great image quality.
Intrestingly the default gallery app now displays good quality images as well.
Great product, have only had issues with USB, which now seems to be resolved.
Many thanks for your help.

they may have secretly patched the stock gallery app in the recent update.. ....and +1 for quickpic..
I notice full 2560 width images render very slow on the 12.2 in the gallery app.
They 1st appear at a very low resolution then slowly start sharpening.
Is this a 12.2 issue , gallery issue ? Any image viewer apps that show images instantly in full Res?
Here's a link to some 2560 width test images if you want to save and check. ..

Both test images show instantaneously in Galley on my Note Pro. (Ditto other high res images I'm using as desktops).
I would try clearing the cache in the gallery app. Also, are you loading images from an SD card or internal memory?
Otherwise I would recommend QuickPic. The first thing I do with any device is replace gallery with QP. Its much better. (Also I hate that gallery wants to display every random image on the device in its own directory, so its always a big mess, whereas with QuickPic you can easily exclude entire directory paths and only see relevant media directories.) Plus in general, its faster.
I notice rendering taking place when viewing my high resolution pictures such as those taken by my dslr. The image pops up instantaneously but sharpens gradually from top to bottom, left to right.

Same result with quick pic.
Took a screen shot with home+power , image renders very slow as muzzy996 mentions in both gallery and Quick pic?
Hmmm...
Yeah I see it with screencaps, same as described. Now I notice it on other photos as well, but less extreme and faster to fully render. I haven't tried DSLR photos yet.
I notice the same effect on my Note 3, but I have to look close to really notice it.
Went to a local store tried taking / viewing Home+Power screen shots on all current Samsung tablet models.
All show the same very slow rendering of images. That was the Note 12.2, Note 2014 10.1, TabPro 8.4 and 10.1.
Tried the same on an Asus tablet and iPad air both render images instantly.
It's not just the gallery app, as photos and even quickpic show the same lag .
Only workaround I found is to view images in a browser, file:///storage/emulated/0/dcim/
I'm surprised this is not a widely mentioned concern?
My gallery renders images (internal memory and SD card) incredibly slowly as well. The interface also becomes unresponsive. I hope they have a software update in the works. This shouldn't be the case with a $750 tablet.
I'm not holding my breath for a software fix for this. Even the gallery app on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 running ICS (Android 4.0.4) has the same issue.

Just found an app that loads full 2560 width images quickly...
It's called Photo Gallery by pickwick santa.
Has some ads but when it works looks interesting.
If anyone finds any replacement gallery apps that display full res images fast please post...
Just Pictures displays really fast.
I also like that it excludes directories easily as well.

Thanks, missed that, had looked at setting in full screen mode.
Looks like a nice app.
Couple small things ...
Noticed pinch zoom does not work?
Does not seem to be a way to show images at the pixel level if they are smaller or larger than 2560 wide?

Yes this is unbelievable. My brother and I both do a lot of photography. He likes Apple stuff, I don't. But what pisses me off is that his iPad goes immediately to the pictures. My Samsung Note Pro 12.2, with a lot of pictures and albums, some internal some on SD, has a black screen for 20 SECONDS before pictures show up after opening the gallery.
Yeah, nice hardware. Now please, some clever software.
Use Quickpic. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder
Nobody in their right mind voluntarily uses the Stock Gallery with more than 50 High Def images. I'm a photographer, just opening stock gallery is enough to freeze the entire device. Quickpic has no such issues. (And has a lot more features. And the option to exclude folder.)

It appears that you are right. I accidentally assumed that the stock stuff on this pricey thing was gonna be fine. I will install the other apps mentioned in this thread and try them out.
What I do like tho, not as a photographer, but as a consumer, is the facebook/flickr/social albums in the stock gallery. If only they had one clever developer that knew how to actually pre-cache the albums.
I disabled "Photos" and installed another gallery app but when I take a picture with camera and try to quickly view it it just defaults back to the camera app. I have to go to my app tray, load my gallery program and get into the photo folder to see the picture. As you can imagine this isn't the greatest workflow
I see nothing in the system settings for a default app for gallery and I've never been asked to select one. If I re-enable Photos... it goes right to that from the camera app.
I must be missing something very simple or there must be something wrong??!?!
I'm pretty sure Photos is the OEM photo app for this phone, there is no separate gallery app. You an access device folders when in the Photos app.

I understand that photos is stock. On all other droid phones I've been able to install a different gallery app and have it take over as the system default. I'm looking for how to do that here.
