A while ago, I sent an email to the developer of the 'JustPictures!' app on the market, about implementing the one-touch zoom method from SE. It is used for photo viewing and streaming (e.g. from Flickr, Picasa etc).
Now he has finally done it - try it out!
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-justpictures-qBFD.aspx
(It's free, just use the QR Code on androlib, or search for it on the market.)
It works well for me!

Gotta say cool app.. thanx alot.. helps alot considering I got rid of mediascape lolz
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
With Meridian replacing the audio player, RockPlayer replacing video player(beta now, won`t be free i assume) and this app for images, there is no need for Mediascape anymore.
Even so, this app needs improvments:
1. why do i have to double tap the image before using the zooming function
2. where is the delete function?
3. together with exclude folders it might be nice to have an option to exclude everything and include only a few folders.
4. provide a progress bar or some kind of counter to know how many thumbnails were generated and how many are left.
..
and probably more.
it does not show full screen pictures
haptic feedback would be good too - I recall SE demo giving a little vibrate on the long press to let you know that it was ready to zoom in/out.. and the zoom in only seems to go so far.. then when you zoom beyond that it bounces back out to a lower zoom level..
Don't get me wrong though.. it's a great app.. a few tweaks as suggested in this thread and it would be my preferred photo viewer.
looks good, but setting a picture as wallpaper goes horribly wrong.
It just shows a small picture in the middle of your screen, but most of your screen is black...It resizes your photo's to real small images unfortunately...
Cheers,
Arnold
yeh the zoom is a great improvement over the original zoom buttons but you cant pan around while your zooming that's the only issue I have
One of my favorite app as I have plenty of pictures on smugmug and flickr. This app seems to get updates almost every week or even more frequently which is good .
Awsome App
nice !!
Well, Sunday afternoon, wife and kids away so I went on with some icons in the sony erirsson font. When you rooted your phone and use this font as your default it looks great on your phone...nevertheless worth sharing. Here some screens in use:
Here are the white PNG icons in Sony Font containing the following:
Applications: GPS, Music, Pictures, Tools, Video, Weather
Homescreen: Dial, SMS, Mail, Shop, Twitter, Web
Games: Action, Arcade, Cards, Puzzle, Race, Sport
Using Smart Shortcuts you can use these icons as your folder icon and make shortcuts on your screens, when you tap them a folder opens with the chosen applications you chose making the folder in Smart Shortcuts.
If you are using Desktop Visualizer these icons are 100x100 png, they are a bit smaller in words of course as I went of the edge a bit.
They look a bit blurry on the screenshots, but that's because I cropped the screenshot png which already is a small file ofcourse. On your telephone it looks sharp as a razorblade ;-)
EDIT: The best thing is of course when your wallpaper is not scrollable (setting in ADW). For that I made 9 wallpapers which looks good with those icons. 3 like in the screenshot and another 6. Also added as attechment. They are 490x854 photo's pasted in a 960x854 background. Just swipe them to maximum and there you go Watch out, there are 2 nsfw pictures in it as well. Herewith an overview of all wallpapers, obviously as i explained you won't see the white parts, it is necessary to get a perfect single wallpaper (unscrollable) for all your screens. For the first two when you want to add the text icons exactly in the squares, make sure you have selected in adw settings, 5 coulomns and 6 rows, than it will fit when using smart shortcuts, this app is free from the market.
Cheers,
Arnold
added 9 single screen wallpapers for non scrollable use. That way you can make different pages using those icons.
Thanks for sharing and putting time to make these.
Although i am totally noob & didn't get it how to do all that (due to my poor english), but really awesome effort from your side Great & Thank You very much ^^
Excellent, and many thanks for this. I don't, however, know how does one change the icons for the apps, what's the app/technique to do that?

Just download the program 'Desktop Visualiser' it is not available in the market for the X10, but you can find the .APK on this site. That program is very simple to use, no explaination needed.
Also, extremely nice backgrounds, I already have extremely similar icons (Tallmin: http://www.droid-den.com/android-guides/android-tallmin-icon-set), so most likely won't be using them, but almost certainatly will make use of the backgrounds!

On a completely unrelated note, my X10i gave me the 'charging bug' for the very first time just now
Damn!
Thank you, nice to hear people like them. Spent 4 hours on it to find wall papers which will fit the icons as a glove. Personally I use them with SMART SHORTCUTS, as desktop visualizer and my phone are not friends, so smart shortcuts folders....that is what you see in the screens.
It is very easy to install. Read the first post and it will work. If you have questions or need help, just post a reply and people will help you...that is the great thing from this community.
Shukla, you are crazy haha

I've sorta been using your icons (sorta because i like images ) and trying a new dual screen type approach with sophisticated sleek words and minimal view on one home screen with the big colourful images on another home screen. Havent gotten it to look 100% yet as its very hard to get it all to fit nicely with a wallpaper, but when I do i'll post on the desktop thread!
p.s. awesome walls wish i could keep one in particular as my wally but the girlfriend will castrate me

Well, as I am also a photographer and have my studio by the house my wife is used to some girls nudity, actually she is more than once my model, artistic naked photos are great,
I dont like the pornographic pictures, but artistic naked like the third screenshot, which happens to be set as my default screen, is really something I like....
I also can't understand why people are having problems by such an innocent picture like the black/white behind picture I posted above, the great thing by these pictures is that you are not seeing anything pornographic at all...
I have had several discussions already about this subject, I always say, if you like it, use it, if you dont like it grab another background...
So, convince your girl you are just an art lover....

1- how can you select different wallpapers in ADW? I can`t find that option;
2 - How did you disable the botton center icon from ADW?
Thks
EDIT: By the way: I´ve made some icons based on these with droid text.

Good job on this.
I love the first two wallpapers.
I may try this later on and put my comments on this but I am sure I will love this.
The very good design, is very attractive, thanks your share ~~
How the heck do I set a correct 100% good looking authentic wallpaper? I've tried dual wide HD (2560x800) wallpapers, HD (2560x1600), (1280x800), and many other different combos, but I just don't understand how the Android wallpaper system works.
First of all, the "set as" function by the gallery is absolutely terrible. It only lets me select 40% of my picture and crops out the rest! WTF!
Next, i've tried alternatives such as the app "Wallpaper Set and Save" from the market, and sure it definitely looks a lot better, but it isn't able to do the perfect job either, the top and bottom of the pictures I have get cut off while the width surprisingly works well.
What is the correct way to get a good wallpaper on honeycomb!?

This will change how your TF uses wallpaper.
I was able to fill the screen to proper preportions a photo of my wife, then set it to not slide. My 5 screens flow by as the picture stays still.
This free app will help you do so much I think it's worth a shot.
Agreed, MultiPicture Live Wallpaper but please, next time do a SEARCH before you post. There are literally dozens of topics dedicated to this aspect already.
Please help keep the forum clean.
I've tried that app before, the thing is, I want my wallpaper to "pan" across the (3) homescreens I use, it's just that I want it to do so while having the correct aspect ratio. I don't want one static image for each homescreen.
u can use an app named Wallpaper Wizardii , U can find it in the market
Browse & view your photos like on a real photo album!
Available in Android Market!
Browse through your photos using your fingers to flip the pages, just like on a real photo album!
GT Photo Albums 3D allows you to organize your photos into albums and view them like you would in real life. You can choose between 3 display modes for 3D view: always show one page, always two pages or hybrid mode: depending on screen orientation, your album will show left and right pages if in landscape mode, or just one page in portrait mode.
GT Photo Albums 3D also provides a "grid" interface, for easy management of your images: rotate images, delete them or simply view EXIF information about that specific picture.
Full screen image view and slideshow are also available from the "flat" view mode: pinch to zoom the image in or out, and swipe to show next or previous image.
Features:
3D view: flip the pages just as you would on a real photo album!
3D view modes: show only one page, show two pages always or hybrid mode: change between one and two pages according to screen orientation
List view: view more images in a traditional "grid" layout
Fullscreen image view, with two-finger zoom and swipe to next or previous image
Fullscreen slideshow
Album operations: add, delete, rename album and view information about it
Image operations: rotate, delete image, view image details (including EXIF data)
Option to import images into an album
Android 4 "Ice Cream Sandwich" action bar even on earlier versions of Android
This application requires several permissions:
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - image and album operations
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - used by ads
Market link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gt3.gtphotoalbums3d
Looks like a good app, but my albums won't load, I just have the constant spinning loading thing in the top right corner. I'll delete and try again.....
Edit : that did the trick, an i gotta say, I think it's sweet !!!, very cool and runs as sweet as. Thanks buddy...
Edit#2 : whens the adfree upgrade version out?, hate ads...
Very nice, needs adfree version.

There is already a way to share a picture: the "Send image" menu item (top menu in fullscreen view mode, context menu in list view mode).
But I agree that maybe a separate action, just like in your screenshot may be a better option. In the next update it will be there.
Thanks.

I would like to in the settings to see the opportunity to specify the exact path where the prog to take files, so that only where indicated and anywhere else. And that all in the heap... in the settings is not possible to choose certain folders. The path by default does not work.
Cool, i take it
Came out a new version. The specified folder path again does not work. Shows all the contents of the device.
OVERVIEW
When I got my Nexus 4 phone, I wanted to take full advantage of the high quality screen and set a gorgeous wallpaper on it. But I realized that no matter what wallpaper I set, I always get tired of looking at it quite quickly. What I really wanted was a new beautiful wallpaper every time I would pick up my phone. And that's why I created the app Gainos Fresh Wallpapers. It selects a random photo from Flickr's Explore stream and sets that as your wallpaper at regular intervals. I have mine set to change every hour.
APP HIGHLIGHTS
Images are selected at random from the 'Explore' stream at Flickr. This app is not affiliated with Flickr in any way.
Remembers last 10 wallpapers so you can go back and choose one you previously liked.
Choose to change the wallpaper as frequently as 10 minute to as slow as once every week.
Enable Daydream mode on JellyBean+ devices to start screensaver when device is docked.
Share images with your social networks.
Works well with tablets and phones. For high resolution displays a higher quality image is downloaded.
Choose to download new wallpapers only over wifi to save cellular bandwidth.
Minimal interface that stays out of your way. Just start the service once and forgot about the app.

I don't know much about Flickr, but would it be possible to choose different "genres"? Such as scenery shots, cities, beaches etc..? That would be be a fantastic addition.
Apart from that, it seems to work exactly as described! I'll see how battery life is affected over the coming days but I don't think it'll be an issue

First of all, thanks a lot for the app! It's a great idea. I just have a couple of requests:
Let's say I have the app refresh every 10 minutes and I leave my phone idle for an hour. It downloads all 6 wallpapers and wastes bandwidth for no reason rather than waiting for me to see the wallpaper before going to the next one. Could you change the app to prevent these useless downloads?
If I don't like a wallpaper, is there a way in the app to skip this wallpaper? Could you make a widget to skip the current wallpaper?
Hello great app, a save option for saving wallpapers to phone will be great!
The auto download on wifi only toggle is missing on the Nexus 7 with 3G (tilapia).
And it seems to get pretty low res pictures for the Nexus 7 as well, not sure if it's better on the N4 because the screen is so much smaller, and my eyes ain't perfect.

Great app and nice job! Simple, clean and compact. I had been using foxsaver for years before they changed it all for the worst. It used to work like this and now its been whittled down to about 10 pics per week. At a point it updated pics every 3 minutes and rarely repeated itself. I still have a foxsaver cache of over 1000 pics that I use with other wallpaper switchers but I am sick of those pics already.
Yes, after looking at the same 1K pics for over a year you will get bored of them too. Kinda explains marrage and divorse, or getting bored of your favorite foods and past times, if you think about it. The human brain needs changing stimulii to keep it satisfied. I feel like I got back the old foxsaver here. Very nice. I missed the "fresh" new feel of constantly changing wallpaper and now its back on the stack.
*****************************************************************************
I found one problem and have another request. First problem is when you upload a pic to your dropbox, it has the SAME NAME as previously uploaded pics. In order to upload one pic you have to overwrite another you've already uploaded. Each pic should have a unique name, every time, every day, every week, etc. I should never have to overwrite a pic with another pic. And there is no way in your app to name the pics. They are named whatever flicker calls them so you will probably have to change this.
My request is to be able to save pics to local SD (or internal memory if I choose). There is no option for that in the share function.
Thank you for the initiative!!

Hi Chaoticaa, thanks for your interest in the app!
Let's say I have the app refresh every 10 minutes and I leave my phone idle for an hour. It downloads all 6 wallpapers and wastes bandwidth for no reason rather than waiting for me to see the wallpaper before going to the next one. Could you change the app to prevent these useless downloads?

It's designed this way so that you can see a new wallpaper whenever you go back to the home screen. If it waited till you were on the home screen before downloading a wallpaper, you would have to wait a while to see the actual results. Its very likely that you would have actually navigated away from the home screen by the time the wallpaper changed.
If you are concerned about bandwidth, you can use the option that only auto downloads new wallpapers over WiFi, or use a longer interval. I have mine set to 1 hour and I find it pretty good as I get to see a new wallpaper almost every time I pick up my phone.
If I don't like a wallpaper, is there a way in the app to skip this wallpaper? Could you make a widget to skip the current wallpaper?

You can go into the app and press the big green button to get a new wallpaper. You can also re-select any wallpaper from the last 10 you had. I have plans to add either a widget or a low priority notification (or maybe both) which will let you do the same without having to go into the app in a future update. Also, in case you get some embarrassing wallpaper, you can long-tap it in the app and select 'Remove from History'.
When I first downloaded it I was using my Galaxy S3 which is running an AOSP AOKP ROM, however when I downloaded and tried it out on my Galaxy Note 2 which is running a Touchwiz ROM I don't see how to set the app to set both the Lockscreen and homescreen wallpaper. The app just sets the homescreen wallpaper.

You can use the share button in the app (turquoise colored button), to export the currently selected wallpaper to other apps on your device. This way you can save the picture somewhere on your phone.
You can also long-tap on a wallpaper thumbnail and then tap 'View Wallpaper' to see the original image on Flickr. You can then save the image from that website. Please be mindful of the image owner's copyright though - however its usually ok to keep the images for personal (non-commercial, non-promotional) use.

That's a good catch! I am hiding the option for devices that didn't support 3G. But Android doesn't provide a good way to detect these devices. So I was checking if the device supports phone functionality. However, it looks like tablets like yours will fail this test even though they support 3G functionality. I'll look into finding some better way to detect which devices have 3G capability. Look out for it in the next update

As for the resolution, the size of the images downloaded is related to the display size. The image size picked is always one that's larger than the screen's dimensions. However, care is taken not too choose something ridiculously larger as that would just be a bandwidth hog. Sometimes Flickr might not have the correct sized image, in which case a smaller resolution image has to be downloaded. But most of the time, you should be getting a high-res, crisp image.

Thanks for trying out the app IvanAugustoBD! But I wonder if you're missing out on the point of the app. As elfaure mentions in his post, the idea of the app is to keep providing a fresh stream of images to keep your visual senses stimulated at all time. This is hard to do if you keep seeing images from a pre-determined set. The advantage of using Flickr is that you get an endless stream of new gorgeous images.
Having said that, I realize that some people might prefer seeing the same set of images e.g. if it is pictures of their loved ones. But truthfully, this sort of feature is very low on my list.
If this is truly what you want, you might be able to find other apps in the store that cycle through images in your own photo gallery. But I believe you will have a better experience using Gainos than those apps.

The share function is handled by the Android system itself. It does looks like they don't provide any functionality to save images directly to sd card. I'll take a look at what other possibilities exist. For the time being, you're best off saving them to some other app like Dropbox or Google Drive.

I've had a few Galaxy Note 2 users complain about this issue. They all seem to be using Samsung's TouchWiz. I looked into it and found out that Samsung has modified the Android API functionality in Touchwiz so that the wallpaper changing function only changes the home screen wallpaper. In all likelihood they have a separate function for setting the lock screen wallpaper, but it is not documented any where and Samsung has said that they do not make it public either. So the way it stands right now, there is no way I can fix this issue.
