Are there any available CWM modules or root guides for these 6589T cpus out there? plain 6589's are quite common so far.

For root, try vroot (chinese prg). My gps took 20mins to lock satellites but after that it have worked just great.
Where we will find vroot? Thanks

Thanks a million mr flat7. I will try when i am free.:good::good:
Did anybody install any custom ROM? I tried several ROMs through CWM recovery but all failed. I don't know what could be the reason.

Very good phone.
I am having problem with auto rotation. When I rotate to landscape, it is not coming to portrait mode, unless I close the application and restart it. Anybody else having this problem? Any workaround? Thanks.

Flash Nekon N6
You can flash custom ROMs from sdcard. Also there's a tool (sry, it's in Chinese) you could flash it automatically.
Goole the site/tool named: shuame and it supports N6.
Probably you could use google translate to get to know the pages.
Good luck.
Yu
Thanks zhudachang. But I used shuame also. It is also not able to install custom ROM or recovery. I will never buy Neken phone anymore.

Thanks flat7 for your reply. Actually I want to install miui ROM. But whatever, I do, it fails. I tried around 10 times but failed. I downloaded correct ROM. It installs and boots also but ultimately I get a black screen. The thread on chinaphonesarena was also initiated by me.

Same here with MIUI. Stuck at black screen when booting.

If we can find any ROM that install through flash tools, would have been better. I don't know how to recompile rom to be able to install via flash tools.
I tried shuame tools also several times but failed.

I'm interested in buying this phone and after reading almost everything on the net, I still have a doubt on the Wifi specifications of the Neken N6.
Can anyone confirm that it has full wifi b/g AND n capacity ?
It appears that depending on the review/spec. lists you look at, they either indicates wifi b/g/n or wifi b/g only. I can understand that it is something that might be overlooked at first glance by reviewer or spec. writers but i'd like to be sure before buying it.
Thanks for your reply.

The battery life last the usual time.
It all depends how many services you have connected.
So if you use the 3G network, Wifi and GPS all day, it will last 24h.
Otherwise, if you don't use them that much it can last 2 full days, maybe 2 days and a half.
The phone itself is good. Having a quad core phone with 1gb ram just for $199.99 is not for everyone.
The phone is very fast and the display has a nice quality (great resolution).
Some parts could be better, like the wifi and gps antenna. The wi-fi antenna doesn't have the range as it should be..but it is ok.
The phone definitely worth its price.
The factory only produced 200 for the first batch. And they are already almost sold. So if you could buy one you can consider yourself a lucky person.
So it all depends how do you use the phone and how often.
The main battery draining responsible is the huge display it has.
Capacitative buttons?
I was considering getting this phone but am curious to know if it has full home, back, menu buttons, it looks like it just has one.

I'm still waiting on my i9 to arrive but I have a ZP950+ that only has one hard button similar to i9. With the large display I find that the soft buttons don't take up much screen real estate and I rarely use the hard button.

I received my I9 a few days ago and it came installed with Android 4.2.2 but it was difficult to use with just the back button so I installed "I9-XUNI-0410v5ok" 4.2.1 version from http://bbs.ydss.cn. This has the virtual soft keys and is much nicer to use.
Everything is working great except for 3G data. Unfortunately I didn't check this on the original version and I've somehow deleted the backup I made. If anyone has a link to the 4.2.2 software I'd appreciate it.
I've tried a few roms now and the bands available for GSM and UMTS have been different so I guess it's a firmware issue. I need to be able to use WCDMA-GSM-900 to get 3G and faster data. If anyone knows how the available bands are set please let me know. The engineer mode has the one I need greyed out.
Apart from the above issues this is a very nice phone and is better value (~$80 cheaper) I think than the ZP950+ that I also have.

Great to hear from someone who has got one, can I ask how is the GPS reception and general WIFI/mobile signal strength? The MTK6577 phones had problems is the 6589 any better?
Thanks
Si
GPS is really quick once it's setup to use EPO and GPS-A. Just yesterday I was surprised that it locked onto 8 satellites in 11 seconds indoors. WIFI/mobile signal strength are same or better than other phones I have(or had). I've never had a 6577 phone so I can't compare.
Did anyone buy their I9 from goophone.hk? If so could you please register on http://bbs.goophone.hk/ and register your phone on there and download the latest I9 4.2.2 software.
You may need to use Google translate but it's on this page: http://bbs.goophone.hk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=6345&extra=page%3D1%26filter%3Dtypeid%26typeid%3D65%26typeid%3D65

Hi,

Cheers

how good are these ?
speed in general
Speed of keyboard popping up when in chrome ?
viewing angles (I totally hate poor viewing angles)
updates
I am more than happy with the speed. Keyboard delay pop-up can sometimes be slow.(its usually when emails are being synced). I improved the touchscreen response by using an app to recalibrate it. I think its hindered by the supplied screen protector.
The only thing I can't do is mobile 3g internet. I think I need to root.
I'm. Awaiting I bit of help from the guru's on this forum.
Cheers

I don't think they are bad. I don't really watch TV or movies on it. It doesn't seem any worse than my Samsung so phone.

sounds good
I did have the Gemini JoyTab 9.7 Duo
I RMA'd it cause as soon as you tilted it slightly right the whole right side washed out
it was so bad that even flat direct ahead you could see the start of the right side polarize wash out with what must be only a few degrees off centre
fine all 3 others ways, I though mine my have been faulty till I went in to a staples and checked their display model, exact same issue.

I sent you a PM via YouTube (Sorry), couldn't post on here for some reason but sorted now.
I have never rooted Android (very new to it) and can't find anything solid about rooting Zoostorm Playtab 10" Tablet. I really don't want to brick it.
I was wondering if you may be able to help me as it sounds like you have rooted the Playtab successfully?
Do you have any links to or name of the guide / firmware you used for the root?
Has the root improved the overall performance of you Zoostorm Playtab as mine can often freeze or delay mid use with the stock firmware?
Cheers mate.

I'm new to Tablets so not sure how useful this can be because i havn't used many others but...
speed in general is quite good however it seemed to run faster when it was new and "fresh" but now having since installed more apps, it seems to temporarily freeze mid-use e.g. going through settings tabs, launching apps etc. I often get a "not responding" message and choice to wait or quit. Waiting seems to work but as this is happening more and more, it's a concern and hence why i'm looking to root.
There is sometimes a 1 or 2 sec delay with keyboard popping up (not sure in Chrome, i'm talking general use). Its not a problem for me.
Viewing angles are reasonable to me but you can see it wash out when looking from the sides but I tend to look at it straight on anyway.
To be honest you get what you pay for (currently £114-£120 on Amazon UK / eBuyer) and it's not bad at all, especially if I can figure this freeze issue.
Hope this helps.

Not sure if you sorted it but these tablets are pretty unbrickable as are most RK3066 based tablets, I've done more wipes & reflashes on this tablet than I care to remember.
You can try to flash the original ROM from here - http://downloads.zoostorm.com/drivers/android/PlayTab/
I did manage to flash a build of CyanogenMod 10 based on another RK3066 tablet on this tablet but it wasn't really what you would call stable, it had screen rotation bugs, random reboots plus Wifi wasn't working at all & as I'm not a developer I soon reverted back to stock, for the most part the tablet runs pretty well with it's stock ROM, 3G works well with the PPP Widget app etc.
It was either this one - http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/39750-romgenerickmod-jb41cwmzip-for-pipo-u1max-m11/

I'm really digging mine too. Most times when opening Dolphin browser or other browsers it will hang for 5-8 secs sometimes. You guys get that? only think that pees me off really.
If we could get it a tad snappier, would be great too!
How do I get flash on this thing?
I've also got the freezing issue occasionally, not sure what causes that.
My main issue at the moment is I can't use "OpenVPN for Android". It claims it can't access /dev/tun so it doesn't work (ticking the box to fix this in CM doesn't work as it's not rooted). Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Freezing is caused by software trying to access root imho. Avoid software that needs root access.

Just bought one from HK. Quality is not too bad for what you pay for. Came from a nexus s, so speed is definitely good. Not much lag. OS is almost stock with some essential mods which is cool. All china apps can be removed. Still trying out the battery.... it's okay, but could be better I believe.
Wifi is **** though. My 3 year old Nexus S wifi speed is 4 times faster if it's not next to the router.... something wrong with either radio or the engineering.... 3g is pretty darn fast.

hello
How long does your battery last? I found that the kernel isn't very good and that it seems to be eating quite a bit of power.... At least that's what android and battery indicator apps are telling me.
I haven't done much modding since I'm not that pro yet. This is completely different than a nexus... I'm rooted, but I'm do scared to even install twrp or cwm. Have you done it?
Rooting the phone was a very simple task just a click of a button.
Sent from my S4 using xda premium
the battery is giving me many problems _ I also think there is some problem nell'indicattore or in the kernel.
It lasts up to 10 hours (usually using it) but the sudden falls of up to 20% which makes it difficult to predict how current direrà and then the system unstable.
I'm not an experienced user q do not know the root await instructions from someone willing to take enlighten us.
Hello
I had problems with one of my batteries. I have changed to the second battery and the battery life was actually quite good.... Was able to last 30 or so hours with sleeping of course. But I had wifi running during sleep. I believe it's quite okay as long as the battery isn't defective.
Sent from my S4 using xda premium
I have finally found out what is saying that the kernel is using a lot of the battery. Try disabling the auto brightness from settings and you'll realize that the kernel will no longer be using a high amount of battery anymore. I believe star has made the refresh rate way too high, thus the major drainage comes from the sensor always bring active changing the brightness of the screen.
This has a lot got rid of the problem of the flickering screen when using SwiftKey for typing.
In terms of wifi, it's still pretty slow unless really close to be router.

There should be written calibration of the wi-fi as well as MAC address.
Does anyone have this file on the phone somewhere. The phone should be rooted, so you can be able to search whole memory.
Because I'm new user I can't post outside link but you can search Google "NVS_Map Creation *AKA How I fixed my wifi/MAC issues"

Because I'm new user I can't post outside link but you can search Google "NVS_Map Creation *AKA How I fixed my wifi/MAC issues"
Does anyone noticed that Wi-Fi MAC address is changed every time you switch on/off wi-fi?
For rooting the phone you can search YouTube "STAR X920 ONE CLICK ROOT OR ANY MTK6589 DEVICE!"
It is very easy.

Hi Integralac,
did : http://rootzwiki.com/topic/5650-wip-guide-nvs-map-creation-aka-how-i-fixed-my-wifimac-issues/
Just tried it out, but I am having problem even typing in the first command...
" wlan_cu -itiwlan0 -b"
the error says that wlan_cu not found... any help?
actually fix the problem for you? My phone is rooted already so I think I'll give it a try....
---------- Post added at 06:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:46 AM ----------
For those of you with a battery issue with this phone (suddenly falling after ~ 40%) there is an app that will help with that. Yes, I've tried calibrating and all, but never works. After installing this app, it has seemed to fix the problem. It'll also help save a bit of juice. Give it a try:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sImNvbS5pamluc2hhbi5rYmF0dGVyeWRvY3Rvcl9lbiJd
The problem is that there is now such file on the phone (wlan_cu). I was downloaded several files wlan_cu from the internet and there are differences in size. You can see here: ####dl. dro pbo xu serc onte nt . c om /u/788157 /wlan_cu.zip
Just retype #### with ht tp s:// *without spaces (stupid forum rules)
But when I tried to do step one I received some errors that I'm missing some more files (libraries) and it was dead end for me.
I didn't typed in these commands in the phone directly. I started ssh server on the phone and I tries everything through PC ssh client.
Anyway, I think that I have 3 issues on the phone.
1. uncalibrated wi-fi with constantly MAC address changing upon reboot-on/off swich
2. my Bluetooth does not remember the pear devices upon reboot-on/off swich
3. wrong battery mesuring
All in all I think that ROM which is currently in my phone is bad. My data is:
Android version: 4.2.1
Baseband version: MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V7.P1, 2013/04/10 00:41
Build number: S4 20130428-12004
What is your data?
I think that this phone is generic device which use several sellers. I find out some more names:
1. Pulid F13
2. (Star S4), sku46020.
#####pan dawillforu m . c om /sh owthrea d. p hp ?20208-Star-S4- Firmware
Just retype #### with ht tp :// and add w w w *without spaces (stupid forum rules)
Maybe they will publish new one. I don't know does "Wireless Update" feature works at all in About phone section of the phone menu.
I was just downloaded that one on the forum. But when I was enter in recovery mode everything is on Chinese.
I need to ask on the forum that CarriePW guy how I can change it to English.
If you look on: ####alie xpre ss . c om/i tem/ Free-Shi pping- 5-0-in ch-And roid-4-2-MTK 6589-Pu lid-F13-Sm art-Phone-WCDMA-3G-1GB/1022519250 . ht ml you will find out that on the screen shots it is ROM 20130606 from June?!?!?!?

On padawill forum there is a link to a new ROM. The stock firmware for S4 (unrooted) date build 2013.06.04-182644
A better WI-FI connection, the launcher isn't freezing and works more stable and faster then in 2013.04.28-120004.

Thanks, reading the thread now... needrom seems to be down. Would you mind uploading it somewhere?
Once I download the rom, how do I go about installing it? reading up on flashing CWM or TWRP is blowing my brains out... would it be easier to use mobileuncle?
It is quite easy, you have everything (driver, Flash tool and firmware). I'll send you a link with instructions I saved from net. It is .mht file and Opera browser know to open it.

I'll check it out right away thanks!
Installed with no problems, but the wifi speed is still quite slow if away from router (not fixed), but connection is better than before . . . I believe it maybe a hardware issue then.
My screen had the problem of going no backlight if in auto brightness, will try the new rom to see if it's fixed.

Besides those WiFi rapidly decreasing of speed when you're going away from the router I didn't noticed any other problems at all.
It is much more stable version.
Sent from my S4 using xda premium
Correct, much smoother for sure. However auto brightness is still draining battery as it was earlier. The battery reading still has a bit of problems.
Anyway thanks for your help!

I am going to buy a Pipo M6 tablet, but i have not been able to answer one question about it: they advertise with E-compass, as a kind of GPS replacement, but I cant find any info about what it is.
Anyone out there who knows what E-compass is, how useable it is, and if it is a full replacement for "normal" GPS?

I have the PiPO M6, and I tell you it does not have a GPS, or anything assimilated in. E-compass would be an electronic compass.
If you want to use the tablet as a navigation device, I'd suggest installing an app such as Bluetooth GPS and connecting to an external source of GPS data to which you can connect to using BT. You can use your smartphone's GPS for example, or get a dedicated unit such as the Royaltek GPS that you can find for about $35

Fast and smooth in launcher app, Sometimes some lag when i have too many apps open. Browsing with Chrome can be somewhat laggy, but I understand Dolphin does a better job. The screen is excellent, with good colours!
No regrets with this tablet - the build quality is good, the screen is great and PiPO seems to be willing to maintain it for the moment being with regular firmware updates. What I'm looking forward to is an update with the RK3188 SDK 2.0 which is supposed to bring substantial benefits.
It looks as though a firmware incorporating the SDK 2.0 has been made available Will test and get back

You need an app that reads the GPS data on your Nexus 7 and makes it available through BT such as GP2 to Bluetooth https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cajax.gps2bt2
On your tablet you need a provider that can connect to you phone once you've paired the two, with "mock locations" enabled, for example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.turboirc.bgp.v1
Then on your tablet you need an navigation app such as MapFactor: GPS Navigation (you can download the maps to your tablet before going on the road)

Use this to root ANY 4.2.2 RK3188 device.
Make sure your system has ADB drivers installed correctly (you can use the installer from adbdriver.com).
For more info, look here, where you can download my PiPO Max-M6 ROM (complete with CWM).

I want it.
Already someone has this phone?
I am ordering right now at bangood.com for 132 usd + free shipping.
My comunication with official leagoo pre-sale ([email protected]):
Hello, is possible to update rom at home (OTA or download) in your Leagoo Elite 5, to fix bugs and problems?
Is phone rooted?
Do you sell and how much cost digitizer or display + digitizer for this model?
To update you need flash your system .
What is the problem for your screen please ?
Hello,
thanks for answer.
I want to buy your phone. Right now I have no problem, I just wanted to know how it will solved.
Because I broke digitizer at my previous Jiayu G4 and producers were not willing to sell any replacement part.
Jiayu also dos not updates ROM, so I had to use alternative ROM because of some bugs and problems.
Also my pre-previous phone HTC had software problems and when they released a new rom, there were new problems. For example, after the last update opening messages needs 40s. Before update works messages well.
Thats why Im asking.
1) Im interested how often do you release updates (fixing bugs).
2) Its possible to buy spare parts, exactly digitizer and lcd which is most often broken.
Our update time is not setted to one time ,engineer will do update once here is bugs .
Yes our accessory may be selling online after a while of phone's sale, you can buy online or send the phone to us for repair .
Ok thank for answer.
I dont mean accessory (battery, charger) but parts (display, speaker). Are you selling parts?
Is your phone rooted?
For the parts which you cannot find online you can contact us .
LEAGOO phones comes with android system ,NO root.
I think Leagoo Elite 1 better than Leagoo Elite 5.
Do you have it? Im interested in stability of original rom, is it freezing, crashing, rebooting?
Specification looks good, more RAM and ROM, more cores, gorilla glass, ...
But Elite 1 has 2400 mAh battery and 1920*1080 px screen. This could by deathly combination for battery life.
I have this phone and it is absolutely amazing, especially seeing the price. No crashes, no freezes, nice UI and modified android os. The only problem I have with this phone is the fact that at the moment it seems to be totally unrootable. I've tried nearly every android and pc app and nothing works.
Visit 4pda forum or ask ghost45 to make a recovery for your phone,so you can root it.

Curious to see how well the sony sensor is utilized on this phone
Also, can you check if xposed works on the leagoo rom once you've got twrp installed?
How's the battery life so far and what's the longest SOT yet? Apparently the geekbench battery score for elite 5 is almost 14 hours.

I don't know what xposed it, but I'll see if I can check it out at a later date.
Battery life seems to be pretty darn good. I'm on 83% battery life at the moment, sitting idle and DU Battery Saver Pro is indicating I should have about 10h40 left, 60h if I switch to airplane mode. I have managed to get DU Battery Saver to say I'd have over 120h of battery life on airplane mode when I'm on a full charge.

Thanks, but can you also post the uncompressed pictures as well?
You haven't try xposed yet? Oh you're gonna love it
It basically allows to customize your stock ROM without having to flash a different ROM
For example you can use these popular xposed tweaks
Youtubeadaway - Just like the in name, blocks ads on YouTube app permanently
Gravitybox - You can customize everything from statusbar, lockscreen, power menu and others.
Starting with lollipop, you'll need to flash framework zip file with your custom recovery. If your device boots normally after flashing it, then congratz, xposed is compatible. If not, your device gets stuck in a bootloop.
Which is why you'll need to make a backup of your ROM with twrp if something happens.
