[Q] Google Play app "Share" button default issue - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a dumb question and I'm ashamed of myself for not being able to figure out the solution nor can I find a way to fix this by searching for a solution online.
Whenever I click on the "share" button in Google Play app, it default to Gmail directly. It used to ask me which app I would like to use when I click on the "share" button with all my previous phones. Does anyone else have this issue?

Try clearing your Data for play store in your app preferences. You won't lose anything but it will reset play store to default everything(including hopefully this setting). Settings/Apps/All tab click Google Play Store and click Clear Data.

Thanks but that didn't work. It has never asked me to set a default action before. Today was the first time I tried to use the share link in the Google Play app and it is already default to Gmail.
I did clear the data and default action for the Gmail app as well. That didn't solve the problem either.

Having exactly the same issue myself. Anyone figure it out? It's only happening on my nexus 5 on 4.4, not on gnex on 4.3

This is a known 4.4 bug. Go to Settings>Apps then on the dropdown menu press 'Reset app preferences'. That will fix it.

[Q] what is the gallery app syncing to and from and how do I turn it of

So I just updated to jellybean and I noticed that the gallery settings has syncing options I have all syncing disabled well atleaast I thought I did but my google account said it did a sync today. They all say disabled under settings but in gallery app my google account has a green sync button next to it. Where in the hell is it syncing to and from?
update:so I've been reading that the stock gallery auto syncs to web services can anyone confirm this? Also I definitely can't seem to disable it. Account is definitely disabled in settings menu under sync, just enabled in the gallery
Do you have a sd card in your device?
There's a problem called "Media Scanner," don't know if this is the issue you've been having- however I had it at first. Was able to get rid of it tho!
I had all my music on my SD Card (40GB) and it constantly scanned/ tried to sync.
If this isn't the problem- check to see what services are running, and then you can assess which might be problematic

Make sure ur google account is set not to sync picasa. Then
Go to the gallery app in SETTINGS, APPLICATIONS. Then clear cache and data. Should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply dont have picasa so not a problem I've disabled sync for everything but contacts under google and cleared the cache and data, but for some reason my google account is sitting in in the gallery settings menu with a highlighted sync symbol next too it. Although I am unsure if it will sync anything I would just like it gone all the same.
Thanks.
Also check your cloud settings under device settings, there might be something there syncing your photos. I had Dropbox in there.

Under Accounts, Google Account, make sure "Sync Picasa Web Albums" is disabled. Then clear the Gallary cache and Data in Application Manager.
Worked for me.

Ive read about people having picasa sync problems, I cantmfind anything related to picasa on this tablet is it a preinstalled thing or is it only there if you install picasa?
I don't have picasa installed, but it is there. I think it comes from Google+ or might just come from your google account itself.

Apps sharing straight to Hangouts

Hey everyone,
I'm having an issue with apps not giving me the ability to choose what app I want to use when I click share. If I try to share a webpage in chrome it goes directly to Hangouts, it doesn't let me choose gmail or twitter, etc. Same in Feedly and other apps.
Does anyone else have this issue? It is very annoying and I can't figure out a fix.

Same problem here.
I noticed it after installing chrome beta, but it could have been a coincidence.
I tried clearing the defaults and the settings for the Hangouts app, no luck...
Disabling the app from the settings restores the usual list of apps, but I do need hangouts!

Google Now is not available on the Nexus 5. How i can fix it?

Hello everyone, i'm trying to solve a problem that I'm having with the Google now on the new nexus 5. The slide from left to right option on the home page to open the google now is not available on the nexus 5. I have uninstalled the updates, reinstalled the updates, cleaned the data, removed and re-add the account in the Google Settings - Search - Account & privacy - Google Account, but still i'm not having the option of google now and google cards to enable it. How i can fix this issue and enable the google now? Have in mind that the location services inside the location-settings says not available in Cyprus. is it this the reason or takes time to enable the google now from google because the gmail that is on the nexus 5 was on gingerbread phone before?
thank you
Have you tried long pressing on the home screen for the options and selecting Settings and enabling through there? I'm not sure about your location settings but this should enable Google Now.

yes and also is the same to go from google settings-search etc
Are you a Google apps user? If so you need to enable Google now in the Google apps administration.
Have you changed your launcher? Google Now (slide from left) is only available on the stock launcher. (I don't think anyone has created a launcher with this option yet. (If so please share the info)

It's a Google service - you need a Google account. Create a Gmail account and log in to phone with that (or play store at least) and it should work - otherwise I would try the Google support forums.

im using a gmail on the nexus 5
From the home screen, tap the google search icon (or aka the google now bar)
you should see something that says get google now
tap it and follow the steps and select your account
i had to do that on my nexus 5
I think people are trying to give you options to enable it from it's defaulted disabled state. It first needs to be activated (available) and since it isn't in your country then you can't do it via the normal methods. Your IP address is what enables or disables it based on country laws.

when i had the galaxy nexus and i was in Cyprus it was working fine. also on my nexus 5 is working fine as well
Did you also have the latest Google Search on your phone then too? Are they side by side? It might have been disabled since an older update especially being built into the phone now vs something you manually download and install.
Have you tried removing your Google account and setting it up again? It happened to me once (when I was setting up the phone without logging in to my Google account), and that was the only way to get Google Now back.

Google Now not available

Got my fiancee a Moto G for xmas (btw now I'm jealous cuz it's much better than my GS3!)
Anyway, it's got the Google Search app, updated to the latest version, but the Google Now option (in settings) is missing. there are no cards etc.
It works fine on my GS3, so I doubt the issue is location related..
Anyway has the same issue or a way to fix it?

It's either location or Google Account related, if there is nothing to show, it won't show cards.

Did you open the "Google Settings" app and click on Search?
I spent ages last night trying to work out why cards wouldn't work, other than the weather. Then i figured out that it thinks in a business account holder.
Anyone know how to fix this? Google now is turned off for your domain
I seem to be on now, still no cards apart from weather :-\

Yes. That is where the "Google Now" option is not available on the Moto G! it is available on my GS3..
Remove then re add the Google account,or try adding a new or alternate Google account
I have tried your suggestions but still have this issue. Also the kit kat update arrived but Google now is still not available! Any other suggestions?

Google app

Hello guys,
I'm using a Google Pixel 2XL since the beginning and I have a small issue with the Google app on my phone. It does not send me any notifications. The most important for me would be the current weather notification, so I can see the weather anywhere I pull down the shade. I know there are some weather apps that can do the trick, but I prefer the default one.
I have tried everything to solve this issue:
Soft Reset
Factory Reset,
Safe mode
Clear the app's cache and data
Signed up to beta, I thought it help but did not
I have made sure no app blocks the notifications
Uninstall the app's update and install back again
I have even posted a thread on Google's help forum, nobody has responded back yet. And also sent a feedback to Google and sent an email too. Still no answer.
Do you guys have the same problem?
Any idea what else can I do?
Thx
