HTC Sensation has stopped charging - HTC Sensation

My HTC Sensation, has stopped charging altogether. I took it off charging and when i put it on 10 min later, the LED didnt light up, so i got a toothpick and tried cleaning thecharging port just in case something tiny went in and was blocking it to charge, but that didnt work. The phone was working fine until the battery died and i still cant get it to charge. Now im wondering whats broken, to all those repair specialists out there, what could be broken? I can buy a charging port from ebay, but is that it? or could it be anything else.
I was looking to upgrade soon but was waiting for some christmas deals to pop up, but my phone decided to let me down.
Any help appreciated, thanks guys

Did you solved the problem by buying a new phone?, the problem could be the USB connector himself, if you are very handy you can repair it yourself...

maybe your battery died

I'm assuming you've got it fixed / moved on to a different phone / are using an external charger, but this thread got bumped to the top so I figured I'd chime in.
I had this problem as well. Unfortunately, the usb port is soldered on the board and not a separate unit attached via ribbon cable. The solder joint holding the port on the pcb cracked, resulting in a loose port. Over time, this lead to the pins breaking off the pcb. For a while, I was able to get it to charge by applying pressure to the usb plug. Finally, I took it apart and resoldered it, reinforcing the solder joints for the port itself. It's not too difficult if you use some flux. Just line up the pins and tack the port back on. Then rub flux over the pins and tack them with the soldering iron. No additional solder is needed or recommended-- the pins are in close proximity and it'd be easy to bridge them.

Xda charging slot loose

My Xda/Qtek's charging slot is loose or bent and as such I am now not able to charge it or synchronise at all. Brought to the repair shop and was told that I need to change the whole mother board as the slot is attached
to the board and it is as good as getting another one than to fix it. Seems to me that the 2 pins in the centre or the slot is bent and I cannot get the connection on when I plug the charger in unless I twist the charger to one side I then get the yellow/orange light which indicate charging.
Appreciate if someone could help fix it. Cheers.
The charging socket is part of the mainboard, I have had this in the past with ipaqs, I got a jewellers eyepiece and a very slim pin and managed to get them lined up again, I am sure there was a post today about this very problem.
Thanks for info. I managed to strip apaart the xda and then soldered the
loose charging slot. It works fine now and I save having to pay for the replacement of the main board which is not worth it and also the service
costs.
help for newbie pls?
Hi, I currently have the same problem. I also want to try the solution that cruisin-thu suggested, unfortunately, I'm not much of a techie and I'm afraid that I might damage the mainboard if I don't know which parts to move. Does anyone know of any sites that have a picture of the xda II mainboard? I'd really appreciate the help.

[Q] LCD and touchscreen not working now after disassembly - Connector broken?

I took my TF700 apart last night as the digitizer was not working following a drop and assumed that a cable had come loose.
Anyway, made a mistake while doing it.
I could not disconnect the cables between the LCD and digitizer and the connectors.
I since realise that there is a small white bar that you flip up. I presume I have "broken" the connectors or something as the tablet works fine when plugged into HDMI, but I cannot use the digitizer and the screen does not come on.
Any suggestions? Most that I have found have suggested "throw away and buy again as spares too much", but wondered if anyone had a bright idea.
I have found why the digitizer was not working, there is corrosion over the SD card and around the top connector to the digitizer nearest the SD card slot. It looks like mositure/drip got into the slot and may have shorted something? I have cleaned off the surface debris as much as can.
Anyway this would not impact the LCD which still displayed (until connector concern.)
Following that, is anyone getting rid of their TF700 and would be interested in selling it at a sensible price?
Thanks
If you didn't pull that white bar off or break it, it could possibly be that you have not properly inserted the ribbon cable and fastened the connector. I would open it again and check this before I did anything else.
Most of them work like this:
Open it by pulling at each end of the white bar until it moves foward a little, then gently lift it to about 45 degeres and the cable slides out with a slight tug. Putting the cable back in is the reverse. That bar has to be loose and at about 45 degrees to get the cable back inside the connector. Make sure the end of the cable is in straight and close the connector. Cable should be tight and not come out if you gently tug it.
The OP here may be willing to sell a likely brick:

Thank you for the suggestions, I have tried that, but none of the 3 connectors (2 for digitizer, 1 for LCD) respond. I connected it to the HDMI, but cannot see the screen respondin to my finger (maybe that is broken also ha ha)
Is it more likely the connector, or cable is broken? I suspect connector pins to be honest. Abit small for me to see though.
Digitizer or Ribbon Cable or ZIF socket ??? How to tell ???

Greetings!
Just curious how this problem worked out? I too have a TF700 with a working screen but no digitizer. Some time back during my first battery replacement (another story) I tried (we ARE a curious species you know) to open the ZIF socket for the digitizer cable (has twin, gold ribbons) and accidentally flipped the wrong side... needless to say it did NOT flip open. The black plastic top of the socket broke off exposing a little of the ribbon. Everything still worked fine so I counted myself lucky and closed her up and all was good.
Unfortunately I'm never willing to leave sleeping dogs alone and I attempted to replace the 2nd dud battery with yet another one (don't ever trust those "Brand New" eBay batteries)! This time I must have accidentally pulled on a ribbon cable a bit too much. When I closed up the tablet I ended up with a tablet just like yours... everything works great... just not with my finger! I opened it up AGAIN... to replace the original battery... you never can tell you know... while I was in there I tried reseating the digitizer cables (both sockets)... no luck.
So... now what... I'm hearing that some folks had their digitizers fail after about a year anyway... mine is two years old... so my digitizer COULD have just failed... or it COULD have been my messing with the ribbons and/or ZIF connectors. How to tell ??? Is there ANYTHING one can do short of ordering a replacement ZIF socket PC board ($25 eBay) and / or ribbon? With a two year old device I'm reluctant to spend much on repair... ASUS wanted $184 to fix it... and buying an eBay digitizer or ZIF board on the blind chance that one or the other is the problem seems a bit risky.... to say nothing about the chance of mucking up the heat separation of the LCD/digitizer! What's a digital explorer to do???
The only thing I was unable to determine was where does the forked golden digitizer ribbon cable GO on the glass end. Does THAT end ever come loose? How does it attach to the digitizer? Anything I could "fix" on that end?

Golden battery holder wire is cut. Need to turn on for recovery

Hi guys. This is gonna sound awkward. I'm having issues in my personal life and I was talking on whatsapp with brother when I got angry and threw my nexus. the screen is broken like colors and stuff and lines so I tries to turn the phone off by touching where the power off button appears on screen butI couldn't.
since I was angry I removed the back cover and cut the golden wire at the bottom point where it turn. I've tried turning it on by holding the cut ends but no luck. tried charger too but nope. All I wanna do is get into recovery somehow (TWRP) and dump my internal storage.
Thank you.
After some thought about your description.... I wonder if you have actually cut the main ribbon cable from the microphone/speakers/USB assembly this is the one that runs down the side of your phone. your best bet will be to purchase another cable assembly.. since you are dealing with a multi conductor ribbon cable.
I really doubt that you will be able to repair and re-connect the cable without some pretty highly skilled soldering ability.
The battery cable is very short and comes directly out of the battery itself... it is not likely that you actually cut it but did cut the main circuit cable. Too Bad, but this will be a real problem for a repair.
no joy... but you might want to investigate a reputable repair shop.

Thanks so much for replying. Yes indeed I cut the ribbon cable. I'm in no position of buying a new one. I guess I'm gonna take it to someone with high soldering skill. Before that I'm gonna try tape too

Question: if this ribbon isn't battery wire then why the phone doesn't start
main connection cable ( do NOT cut)

That ribbon cable is the one that interconnects the working boards in your phone, Microphone, Speakers, buttons. Unlike the battery cable you probably won't be able to fix it... it is pretty much a replacement only part.
this part is called -- LG Nexus 5 D820 D821 Charging Port Flex Cable Dock Connector USB Port With Mic Microphone Flex Cable Repair Part (amazon.com)
you will have to source a supplier close to you... but the good news is that it is relatively inexpensive... Ebay has it listed for $10USD or so.
not trying to be the bearer of bad tidings... but I've spent 20 odd years repairing computers and associated devices. It is always best if you don't cut ribbon cables.

corrosion inside usb port

When looking into the USB port I noticed there is a slight build up of green gunk which probably came from environmental moisture (not sure).
Possibly related to this is that when connecting PC to phone, some USB cables won't work (and sometimes power surge), some only works in one orientation, some only works via the wall charger.
Before I send my phone in for repair, just wondering if anyone here has had a similar problem, and what you did to fix it. Any help and comments will be appreciated.
Hi, i had this corrosion too, what i did (maybe not so sure way) its cleaning the corrosion that was between the pins of the connector, so first i turned off the phone and then i removed it with a needle, be careful with the pins. When you finish use a brush to clean the port a little more and remove the dust it may have, you can put alcohol on the brush.
If your cables are not working you can try to press a bit both horizontal sides of the connector to ensure the pins are always touching. Thats what i did when my usb c cable started to connect and disconnect the phone randomly when i just moved it a little.

Hey. Welcome to the club mate. I screwed up my charging port after a trip in Thailand. Some underwater diving & swimming caused the green junk in my port.
I had the same issue such as yours after the trip, Charging was fine but connection through usb on a computer was screwed up.
What I did was, cleaned the charging port with alcohol (Nail polish remover), let it dry & sent it to a nearby Sony Service centre.
They replaced my mother board for free (In warranty). The best part was I had my bootloader unlocked & they gave me a new motherboard with a locked bootloader
Sony service center employees don't know **** about Bootloaders in my country, I'm from India btw.

Charging Problem

So before my xz premium completely stopped charging my phone used to randomly stop charging and charged very slow I used quick charge 3.0 and certified usb c cable I had to put the usb type c cable in a certain position to get my phone charging but after a while it completely stopped charging I inspected the port it was fine no bent nor broken cleaned the port but it didn’t charge after sometime I started messing with the phone so I found a way to charge it when I put pressure on the bottom of the phone from front and rear of phone where usb port and flex cable is connected it starts charging but I have to put a lot of pressure to get it to charging I don’t know about hardware so I am here If someone can guide me ty.
Is the charge manager enabled?
In this case the manager try to think at which time you disconneythe the phone from charger and stopped after a while to continue in front of disconnect (or what he think at which time it is)
No the charge manager or (Battery Care) is not enabled but I opened the device myself because I thought it might be a loose connection of charging port's flex cable but it was connected to the motherboard fine but the situation was the same I pressed the flex cable where it connects to the motherboard and the phone started charging I think it's some sort of motherboard problem as it happened with some other xz premium users as well.
P.S:Replacing the charging port didn't fixed the problem.
Hello,
I had a similar problem.
At first it only carried in certain positions or pressing the region where the flat connection. After 1 months it stopped completely.
My problem was in the motherboard charge connector, I needed to buy a new connector to replace with solder. After 30 days, everything continues to function normally.

Thank you very much that's the answer I was looking for one more thing can you guide where to buy the connecter for the motherboard and can you tell me how did you manage to replace it.
Update I just got mine fixed the btb connecter for the charging port on the motherboard was loose it needed to be resoldered in case it is more damaged you should get a new btb connecter I'll put the link to buy from link: https://rounded.com/sony-board-connector-btb-socket-2x10pin-1306-0093.html
can u guide me how to do it?
If u know any trusted and skilled repair person just tell him what the problem is and make sure the repair person fix it the right way as described otherwise he might end up damaging ur phone.
alrighty thankss, i'll update soonnn, i already change the port but it still the same
Hello, can you update me on this, i'm facing the same issue. Let me know if this fixed your problem.

Changing the port won't fix the issue it can only be resolved if u change the btb connector on the motherboard.
Anyone knowing how to do it?
Hi. Stripped phone down and removed old BtB connector. How do you solder the new part to the motherboard. Is it just the four corners you solder or do all x10 pins on each side need to be soldered?
Can somebody who has changed a BtB put a step by step guide if poss?

ok update i've been trying to repair it/solder it in a couple 3rd repair (because there's no sony xperia service center here in indonesia..) and they say they can't, then i wen't to this repair shop (this one looks not promising) then i got a message after 3 day they say they can't repair it, i was hopeless, i left my phone there.., and after 1 and a half month i think, i finally went to get my phone, and when i arrives to get my phone they charge me 15$, in my head i was thinking "why they charge me? they didn't even fix it"
then the repair man said "we fix it" i was shock they didn't even message me and said it was fixed (they have to) so i pay the 15$ and check the phone its completely normal it's charging the fast charge work, but.. they reinstalled everything (factory reset) kinda strange.. but it's find ok so that's it
