lol ? you can see how tight s4 is mounted, front part of the car is still so overall image is still and fluid while N5 mounting is... loose? front part of the car is jumping on video up and down so it isnt N5's fault that image is shaky... i like my s4 very much, but this video is one big bullpuke.

I didn't even bother clicking on the link as I own both devices & the S100 blows away both of my G3s in every way.

OP forgot to mention its only in Video recording comparison. Not pictures.
I find the title of this post very unlikely. The camera in the S3, while excellent for a phone, doesn't have the dedicated features and capabilities of a dedicated camera such as the Canon PowerShot S100.

Agreed. I like my sgs3 camera but it doesnt have the same custom settings that most cameras have. Digital zoom on a phone sucks unless it has a tripod.

Interesting. I love my S3 but I still think the camera is a POS. Unless I try really hard to hold incredibly still, I'm going to get a blurry picture, even with anti-shake on. I just assumed it was a crappy camera like most phones. Maybe mine is just bad...do other folks think the S3 camera is excellent?

I'd suggest cleaning the lens and look over some of the other tips on this article.

you need to hold the capture button until it beeps then release to take a picture...crystal clear everytime!
That's actually really interesting. It definately makes a difference.
So how does our camera compare to a old school one in the late 90s? In high school my sister used to be in photography and the pictures came out great.

Not even a comparison... 90s stuff just can't compete.

Granted camera's itself is good because of the lens type and aperture of the camera
you're comparing a mobile device's camera to a full sized camera
its like comparing a mini van and a truck
but for the specific question id say the Nexus 5's camera is better than that 90's piece of ****
See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49397833&postcount=1481

How does your Internet connection compare with the one you had in the 90's?

Are we talking SLR or point and shoot? An SLR is going to kick the N5's ass.
Also, why are we comparing the two?

So an slr is still going to beat the nexus 5 camera in every situation? And internet Connection is a little different then a camera comparison.

What exactly do you mean by an old school one from the 90s? Cell phone cameras have come a long way, no doubt but a 8MP camera is still not going to produce a picture that's as detailed and crisp as a DSLR camera. You might not be able to notice the difference on a small screen but try zooming in to a picture and you'll notice the difference
Wasn't everyone using film in the 90s? Better than a phone camera today if exposed correctly.

Digital in the 90's was a novelty. The cameras used a floppy disk! Not sure what the point of this thread is.

This post gave me cancer. The meme itself won't do justice on this post.
I just took this screenshot off of the order page for the Verizon M8 on HTC's website. Found it pretty funny considering the "leak" hinting to it from TENAA.
I picked up the phone this morning, and the camera is one of my few complaints. Perfectly usable if you're not cropping or zooming, but falls apart quickly due to resolution. I love the super fast focus and shoot though...so I'll just be adjusting my photo taking technique I guess. Really wish they had given at least an 8mp sensor with larger pixels to preserve resolution when zooming in, but oh well.
Also, I just went through and it appears that this typo is only on the Verizon variant's checkout page. Since I'm stuck with Big Red for now, I'd have loved for this to be an "exclusive".
I believe the Asian variant has a 16MP camera but even that could have been speculation/rumors too.

I preordered the Asian variant, I'll post in this thread when it arrives. It does have a faster tuned 801 and applicable LTE bands to fit every country in the region, but unknown on the camera front.
I'll post here when i get it.

The issue wasn't HTC here. Best Buy actually hosted and handled the online ordering for the carrier versions. That's why there's a misprint. Best Buy as usual not being as accurate on their specs as they should be.

Resolution of a 4 mp image is 2240x1680. People overblow this issue like crazy. My 600$ canon only has a 10.

I agree. If HTC never mentioned how many MP/UP it has on the one, nobody would realize. Major placebo for quality? It takes awesome low light pictures

Can't argue with this. There's really no need for 16 megapixels on a phone. Unless you want to print poster sized photo prints. 4 megapixels is more than enough for a quality 8X10 print. If the photo isn't clear or has a lot of noise when viewing it on your computer, it's more likely due to the quality of the lens. I've also got a Cannon 10 megapixel DSLR. Cheap lenses versus quality lenses on it can make a huge difference.
Is there a way to get slow motion video on the nexus 5?
Searched quite a while for a thread where this is addressed, to no avail. So is this something that's being worked on or might get worked on in the future? Or is the Nexus 5 not capable of slo-mo?
Thanks in advance!

Yes I'm curious too. Our snapdragon 800 should be able to support this.... But can ur 8mp shooter well.....

@dec1153, well it should be able to. I have seen this feature work perfectly on older phones with lower megapixels.
And this is a very cool feature along with it being somewhat useful too sometimes. Sad that this isn't being actively worked on, as almost every other flagship device does this!

It's nothing to do with megapixels. It's frame rate

Correct, pixel count is irrelevant. I believe it all depends how good the image sensor is. High speed shooting requires more lights. If nexus 5 uses cheaper image sensor, then we are out of luck. For around $300 phone with great hardware specs had to go cheap on some parts..I believe sacrificing camera spec could be one of them.

Everyone can put their worries behind them now. You have a phone that has the best camera on the market.

The shots were probably sharper with the 16mp vs 12mp but the S7 is better in nearly every other aspect. But yea I do get what you're saying
There's parts of me that liked the Note 5 camera better as well. But one thing I will say is, the auto focus on this phone if freaking insane. It's faster than a lot of DSLR'S I've used.
I got the note 5 last week and will also have to agree that the over all picture is better but low light and auto focus is going to the s7 edge. Both great phones. I'll be holding on to these for a while. I know the note 7 is coming in a few weeks and I could still take it back and wait but the note 5 has full root and there is no guarantee that the 7 will ever get it at lease for tmo. Awesome cameras on both, oh and the note 4 also still has a great camera.
