I got a note 8 last Monday I'm thinking of returning it to get a nexus 7
What do you guys think.
would you guys .
No, got mine yesterday and love it. But I'm also doing graphic design so the pen is awesome.

I came from a N7 to this. Love this. The N7 is OK but this one in terms of speed blows it out of the water. That and the fact there are a lot more accessories for this (in my country at least) make it a no brainer. The only downside is my wife loves it more than the N7 as well and has already installed her games so it looks like I wont have it when I am at home

I prefer the Note 8 over the N7, so for me the choice is clear. I like the pen, speed, and screen size of the Note.
A new N7 with a 7.7 inch screen is supposed to be released soon though. If you are thinking of returning your Note I would suggest you look at the upcoming nexus, not the old one. Of course this all depends on your needs so you be the judge.
I too came from a nexus 7. The Note 8 is way better. Speed, memory card slot, screen clarity, screen size, pen, etc. Bear in mind that the on screen buttons on the nexus make the screen seem even smaller. Then the difference in size between a 5 inch phone (gaLaxy s4) and a 6.x inch nexus seems pointless.
The 8 inch screen on the Note is awesome.

The only advantage the N7 has over this thing is price. So unless that couple of hundred makes a difference between you being homeless or having a roof over your head, the GR8 is the better choice.

My wife has the N7 and it is a very nice tablet running stock android which I definitely prefer. We both have S3 phones. Wifes phone is stock, I'm rooted running cm based roms. If I could mesh the two tablets and get cm on the GN8 like my phone with all the functionality that Samsung has baked into touchwiz I would be in heaven. That being said the GN8 is still better than the N7 in all other aspects even running touchwiz.

I had an N7 for a few months but gifted it away. I never stopped missing it. For me, it was the perfect size (for home, not for work). I find the Note 8 just a tiny bit too big and heavy. But I need it for taking notes. The s pen and a slightly larger screen is a must for me at work, so the Note 8 is my preferred device. For now. If the next nexus 7 is released with a shell that is no bigger and no heavier than the old N7, but with the promised higher than retina ppi, I will buy it. I really like the iPad 3 for the high ppi screen, but wanted something smaller and just slightly higher ppi for reading and a less boring OS. And the next N7 is rumored to be just that. At half the cost of the Note 8, I think it is a much better buy for people who don't need the s pen. But if you need to take notes, the N7 is just too small.

I'd consider trying the N7 out for a bit. GN8 has it beat it every way.

Both are good. However, i prefer Note 8 more than Nexus 7 as it has high speed and larger screen. Still, it depends on you, which is more comfortable for you.

Hi,
Its depend in you personally .
but to reach the right choice , you should think of :
- what you DID NOT like in Note8 !!
- what did you miss off Nexus7 , that no more available in Note8 !!
Personally , I had Nexus7 , and now I got Note8 .... I like & enjoy Note8 .. It give me more
So when the new nexus 7 came out, I got it. But returned it and went back to the note 8. The extra inch is what made the difference for me

I hear the nexus 7 has a whole slew of issues with multitouch and after having owned a Transforer Prime, I'm weary of buying another tablet manufactured by Asus.

There's a real price difference between the two devices. I say $150 is not worth it for the average consumer. I like reading often so the annotation capabilities are really a plus for me.

It's $329 at staples and you're not limited to memory because of no SD card on nexus 7. It then becomes $70 difference for better quality, s-pen, extra inch, and Haptic feedback

I loved the old N7, but the N8 is a superior device. I was tempted to pick up the new N7, but just can't justify it. I still think the N8 is a better device.

So how does our camera compare to a old school one in the late 90s? In high school my sister used to be in photography and the pictures came out great.

Granted camera's itself is good because of the lens type and aperture of the camera
you're comparing a mobile device's camera to a full sized camera
its like comparing a mini van and a truck
but for the specific question id say the Nexus 5's camera is better than that 90's piece of ****

Are we talking SLR or point and shoot? An SLR is going to kick the N5's ass.
Also, why are we comparing the two?

What exactly do you mean by an old school one from the 90s? Cell phone cameras have come a long way, no doubt but a 8MP camera is still not going to produce a picture that's as detailed and crisp as a DSLR camera. You might not be able to notice the difference on a small screen but try zooming in to a picture and you'll notice the difference
Wasn't everyone using film in the 90s? Better than a phone camera today if exposed correctly.

Digital in the 90's was a novelty. The cameras used a floppy disk! Not sure what the point of this thread is.

Hello
A simple question. Is it worth to buy a note 3 now or is it better to wait for xperia z 2? I mean is note 3 still a fast phone?
Maybe note 3 isbecoming a bit old now or?

A bit old? Lol... This ain't Apple son... The Note 3 is still very powerfull and fast and it will be for a long time yet.
Note 3...almost guaranteed to have better battery life. Z2 is quite chunky even tho note 3 is bigger it is slimmer with better screen ratio compared to borders. Its not water resistant but. Xperia will take my money when battery is better and design isnt so chunky.

Depends on your needs
Note 3
-------------
Removable battery
S Pen
Bigger battery
Z2
------------
Water and dust proof
Faster processor
Better build quality
_______________
If you're into rooting and custom Roms. Samsung is much more fun as builds are released often.
I using note 3 it's very fast and it's constantly on power saver which limits the cpu.
If you need 4K video be sure to get the 4G model N9005
I wish the build quality was better though. For a flagship device it doesn't have the premium feel of an iPhone or HTC

Funny thing is I love the LG I have currently, I bought it sim free and I've only had it about a month but it's so good that I want that speed and smoothness on an even bigger screen so I ordered the Note 3 yesterday. When it arrives I'll sell the LG G2.
I can't wait till the N3 arrives, I've previously had the Note and Note 2 and the Note 3 looks like a step up.
Just curious to know if anyone who currently owns a note 5 is returning it for the 6s?
what drove you to this decision if so?

This review favors the Note, but man it doesn't even begin to outline the difference in capabilities. This thing is a productivity pro! The split screen stuff, 8 cores, massive RAM, scrolling screen shots, 2000+ pressure sensitivities, note-taking from screen nearly off, etc... Just amazing.
I own the Note 5 and will be owning the 6S Plus since they both have Nano Sims and easy sim swapping for the monthly bill of one phone

I want root too...but pure Android? Hell no. Pure Android is like Vanilla ice cream without all the nice toppings and flavoring drizzled on top. The first thing I usually do when I root a new Android phone is to install a custom ROM with unique or interesting features or customization options. I'm more of a power user, so the minimalistic approach seems insanely boring to me, especially if it's on a phone with high specs like this one, which could be able to handle some additional workload/features.
thanks for the replies, ill be keeping my note 5 as well. Maybe purchase the 6s as a second phone to play with in time!
What's the point of a second phone? What can the 6s do that you'd be unable to do with this phone?

I had the 6 plus for about 2 months and like my Note 5 way more. I can't imagine the 6s plus is much of an improvement. Definitely not enough to go back to iOS.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0b-FcR5KD8 cracked open apple iphone 6s
I have both phone (for work) and I can say the Note 5 is more for power user...those that want to customized their home screen, tweak settings. The iphone 6s plus is just as good though... I'm not going to knock it. It has a good camera...I use it for social media app and tons of games.
Like others my wife has an iphone 6s plus. I had the choice to switch to the 6s plus also but decided to stay with the Note 5. The S-pen is a big draw for me. I find I use the S-pen more than my finger. It gives me a lot more control then my finger does especially when using calendar applications such as Pocket Informant
I also find that the note 5 is extremely fast and shows no sign of any sort of lag. Keep in mind I am using package disabler Pro to turn off software or bloatware that I don't need.
Just the fact that I have the option to disable bloatware or programs that I don't use or want is a reason for me to stay with the Note 5 over the iPhone 6 plus.
The only disappointment I have with the note 5 is the aggressive memory management. I have no idea if Samsung plans to fix this or not. I really hate how the bootloader is locked down on this Verizon version and therefore I can't make a simple change that would fix the problem. If the bootloader was unlocked on the Verizon note 5 it would be hands down the best Android device I have ever used.

Xperia Z5 seems to be a really good option and seems to beat N5X in almost every department.
But if I were you I would still go for N5X. The UI fluidity and development offered on Nexus lineup is unbeatable.
Also for a poweruser the revised 810 chipset might suffer heating issues but 808 chipset has absolutely no complaints yet.

See... I love the spec of the Z5 but there's a lot of bad reviews about for its camera, which is supposed to be one of its main features! I don't play games on my phone so heat would never be an issue regardless.
But the 5X doesn't really seem much of an upgrade from the 5 from what I'm seeing. But i do love my Nexus 5 on how fast it always is

I totally agree with 5X not seeming to be that huge an upgrade. But if Z5 suffers from bad camera then that defies the primary reason to switch to Xperia. So why not consider a different option altogether OnePlus Two?
(IMHO I wouldn't switch to OP2 but it's a good phone from what I hear)
I would keep N5 till thanksgiving or later till I get a good deal on N6P. Hopefully by that time N6P reviews would shed light on how its metal body holds up with the 810.

It does, however, first batch of production suffers from a manufacturing flaw whereby the left edge of photos is blurred out compared to the right edge. I'm sure it'll be fixed, it's just a question of how long. It's worth noting that not everyone's Z5s have the issue, it's not affecting all units, just some of them (it's a lottery currently).
It's like there's currently no phones out there worth actually upgrading to. Seems to be more and more bad reviews on the Z5 which is such a shame
