notification shade pulldown from lockscreen - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have two nexus 5's in the house. One I can pull the notification shade down from the lock screen and the other I cannot. Both are on slide for security. I am missing a setting somewhere that allows the notification shade to be pulled down from the lockscreen?

That is interesting that one allows you and the other doesn't. From what I understand its not suppose to let you pull down the notification on the lock screen.

HTC ONE S unlock bug?

Do you have this bug?
Edit:
Youtube embedding is not working.
You can watch video on this link:

I wouldn't count that as a bug because your phone is not actually 'locked'. When you turn on screenlock with pin, notification menu is disabled untill you enter lock code.

Seriously? Not a bug.
You're clicking the gmail icon, which is animating the ring to the icon. Try grabbing the actual ring from the bottom of the screen and dragging it up, over the icons.
explain to us what are you considering as a bug here because i dont see any bug.
I slide down notification bar over the ring, enter in settings and unlock phone.
On GB on my previous phone (DHD) that was not possible.
Why to lock it if I can unlock it on this way?

This is a known "feature" since ICS 4.0. Ability to use the notification bar from the lockscreen. I assumed you were unable to unlock the phone using the ring, which is why I said what I did in my previous post. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but please try being a little more clear.
So, once again, not a bug.
However, I do understand that it seems unusual being able to unlock this way, but that's the way it is.
Ok then. But, this "feature" is stupid for me...

Understood. Love it or hate it.
I remember seeing somewhere a way to disable the notification bar on the lockscreen...but I believe it was through a 3rd party app. WidgetLocker does it if I'm not mistaken, probably some other lockscreen replacement apps as well. Check them out.
Ok. Thank you bro.

[Q] Notifications on Lock Screen?

Pardon my ignorance, but I've been searching high and low for this answer. This is my first Android phone in 2 years (MyTouch 4G), and one thing that seems to be bothering me is the inability to view notifications if you setup a lock screen. I had a WP prior, and you could simply pull down your notifications tray, see a preview of a notification, touch to open, and you would be asked to enter your password to proceed.
Is there any alternative I can use, so I can see my notifications while on the lock screen? Preferably something that will turn the screen on when I get said notification.
Try "Snaplock" on the google play store

Wait for lollipop
I'm using floatify and it is a really beautiful designed app for notifications. You can choose between various styles and it shows accessible notifications on the lockscreen as well as system wide.

This app is awesome! Any chance you know how to get rid of all these "shortcut" apps? I'm kind of a minimalist.

Pulling down drop bar blurry notification

If you pull down the notification bar on the lock screen without swiping is it supposed to look like this? I have to swipe up to view it which is annoying. I did a fresh install.

Something is wrong. It shouldn't matter if the lock screen is up or not

Customize Notifications?

Hey all,
I'm so used to all the features of Light Flow that I didn't realize how much I depended on it. Since the 3 does not have an LED, I'm looking for an alternative app to manage my notifications. I want to be able to choose the notification sound and the vibration pattern per app.
Light Flow does this but not without requiring a persistent notification. Normally you'd be able to avoid this by installing Light Flow Legacy, but it does not show up in the app store on the Pixel 3.
Does anybody have any recommendations?
Thanks
Go to apk mirror and download light flow legacy that way. Let us know how it goes. I really hate the lack of notification LED, but I'm not willing to go as far as you to customize the vibrations etc.

Already tried this. It doesn't seem be on there.
I've been using Light Manager. It displays customized colored icons on the screen in place of the LED, with AOD turned off. I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would.

Since there is no LED, we have no way of knowing if my phone is charging when plugged in without turning on the screen. Does light manager have a solution for this too?
Yes, it shows a charging icon and the %

I tried it and it looks like the default lock screen prevents the icons from displaying. Do you have your screen set to stay off when new notifications come in or is there something else you changed in either the app or system settings? Sorry for hijacking the thread with all the questions, but this lack of LED makes my phone useless while the screen is off.
Yes I have always on display off, and new notifications off. Double tap and lift for notifications I still have on though.

What other settings do you have? My phone isn't waking up with Light Manager with AOD/new notifications off and double tap/lift for notifications on. I do not have a lock screen enabled nor does it work with lock screen (swipe) enabled.
The "tests" aren't working either.

Does this require you to double-unlock to get to your phone, or is there someway around that?

Are you setting Light Manager to "Screen Mode" in the top right?

That got it working. I have to tap the screen once, home/back button then shows, then double tap to get to the home screen.
Yeah I use fingerprint unlock and realize it requires it being done twice. We need a cleaner solution.

A cleaner solution was the $0.03 LED that Google removed from the phone! It shouldn't be this hard to tell if my phone is charging.
If I wanted a useless notification system, I would've purchased an iPhone!

Question WTF is this little stick figure icon on the left/notification side of my status bar? UPDATE, screenshots and found out what it is

Every now and then I'll see a stick figure icon on the left side of my status bar by the clock and on the lock screen/aod in a bubble.
when I unlock the phone or pull down the notification panel any info disappears.
Anyone know what this little guy is for and how to get rid of him?
and the screenshot is.................? kinda hard to help if we don't see what it is..
The only icon I can think of that resembles a stick figure is the SMART THINGS icon.

It;s a stick figure, like the stick figure that was coming up on peoples nav bar on 8's and 9's for accessibility settings
it looks JUST LIKE THIS ONE IN THE PINK CIRCLE without the dots under it but its a icon by the clock
When you need a hug. Push this. That makes you more accessible.
here are screeenshots, I got it in action.
It has something to do with one of the apps I enabled in accessibility mode.
Anyway to stop the "check access settings" little guy notification from coming up

If you tap on the icon and bring up that app's notification settings, there may be an option to never notify for accessibility notifications.

Thanks, no clue then. It must be one of the apps, maybe the Galaxy HZ app having access to screen as it shows the stick figure in the notification as well. Check the app in Accessibility settings and try disabling it.
Also, what is the other app with moon and glowing clock? (screenshot attached)..looks cool

Weather neon, TONS of customizations for it, from dozens of widgets of all sizes down to changing colors of every piece individually.
that's just the notification one I liked but there are a ton more, and a big main one with different clocks
it's worth checking out, some stuff is iffy with it tho

My stickfig has a purpose, I can dim the screen at night or brighten it up. The icon comes up when you slide out the 'stick'. You can park this feature anywhere, to enable go to 'visibility enhancements' >>'extra dim'(screenshot is from S22)
So I'm guessing you can disable your stick figure somewhere there as well.
