Hi,
I am considering buying a NEXUS 5 US version. If I understand correctly it will be compatible with all speeds on US T mobile frequencies, but cannot tell if it will only give me gprs and edge in the EU, or if 3G as well. EU LTE seems like a no to me in this unit, but I can live without it.
I would also consider an HTC ONE as well, but the description there is even more contradicting, depending where I look at it.
Can anyone please point me to a reliable guide of US and EU cell provider and device frequencies? I would love to know what frequencies to look for.
I spent a few months early this year in EU, had a local HTC ONE X (no LTE) and was amazed by the speed and coverage I got; traveling in a car almost 2 hours a day, I could anywhere video skype home without interruption, or drop call, or quality issues. Would be great if I go back again, I didn't have to buy and sell a new phone again...
(With Sprint in LA, CA 4G, I cannot even make a phone call without it being dropped and skype calls not video are only a dream...)
Thank you very much for any help,

I bought the D820, the US version and here in Norway the LTE-bands are 3 & 7 wich is not supported on the US version.
If you buy the US version you only will get the HSDPA/3G in europe. The speed is really ok here in Norway.
Wikipedia can help you look for the different LTE(4G) bands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks

The U.S version will work fine in Europe (or the rest of the world) sans LTE. That's it. EDGE/WCDMA/UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA(+) will work fine, just no LTE.
Thank You very much for the info!

im absolutely amazed at how many wind users have purchased the sensation, considering all the other phones that work on AWS, and the fact that it came out not too long ago in the states
the funny (more like sad) thing is that this phone isnt available in canada until next year, and its on Bell, of all networks i feel sorry for the people who jump on that bandwagon...if you thought TMO bloatware and OTA's were bad, be ready to bang your head against the wall still no news if its gonna be CDMA or GSM on bell, might be both, they're assinine like that...
so, wind users, my question to you is, how is the network performance and coverage treating you so far?
its been really quick for me, compared to my HD2, the speedtest.net dl speed has doubled from 2mbps to 4, and the upload went from 60kbps to 600!
(thats enough out of you, everyone else in the world canadians always get shafted with data speeds, mobile or home :/)
Question!
I would love to tell you how my WIND Mobile experience is, As SOON As i find out WHAT HTC Sensation will work on Wind.
If i buy it from bell, can i get it to work fully with wind? Or would i have to get an Unbranded version Online?
As soon as i find out, ill be purchasing the VERY NEXT DAY!!!! so ide LOVE to hear what you have to say!
I'm using the T-Mobile USA Sensation on WIND, and I get 8mbps at Waterloo, Ontario (1MB/s). 30$/month for unlimited texting, calling, and data.
That's the highest I've gotten. The average is somewhere from 300kB/s to 500kB/s.
I have the Asian version. I live in Brampton and coverage is here sporadic. I frequent the Bramalea City Centre and coverage there is patchy. Signal there constantly switches from wind home to roaming just walking around inside the mall. Luckily, at home, I get a good signal with constant "H" when connected to mobile data network. I have the $15 clever pay before use with additional $5 50Mb social mobile data. I use wifi most of the time so 50Mb is enough for me just to retrieve my e-mails. My speed with wind network here at home is 3-4 mbps download and upload around .5 mbps

No, don't get the Bell version, it will not work. Get either T-Mobile, European or Asian version.

agree, those use AWS and work amazing
whats stunning to me is that i posted this thread on June 28th, a week or so after i got it
NOTE* its still AMAZING on wind, wifi teather is a saviour, and no cutoff or extra billing from wind WHATSOEVER!
plus 5 devices can teather to the S4G with ease
At home (close to Dundas Square), I get about 2 Mbps but that's mostly because of the height of my building. As soon as I step out, I get about 4 Mbps. Down by the lake where my girlfriend lives, I get close to 7 Mbps.
I am so glad I switched away from Rogers. Unlimited text+call+data for $35 is a wonderful thing. I don't care that the Wind Home Zone is so small because my life only takes place in the GTA anyway.
hell yeah, i consistantly get 5mbps, im @ high park, and since the network refresh, there are almost no more black holes and the wind zone is MUCH larger, i visit hamilton frequently, and thats now a wind HOME zone which is really nice
Anybody tried viber on wind? I can't seem to get my access code from viber via sms or call back. Anyone from wind tried receiving international sms? or international call?

i have got the code on mine and it is setup but i never actually tried using it.
Did you set up viber before you updated to 2.3.4 or after? I have been trying for a couple days but somehow wind will not forward the access code sms from viber. Do you have custom rom, rooted, or completely stock? I just don't know what to do. I can't finish the registration without the access code.
Hi,
Can anyone please point me to a reliable guide of US and EU cell provider and device frequencies?
I am looking to buy a new android phone for use in the US, but I would like to be able to use the same one in Europe as well, but cannot make heads or tails of all the sloppy and contradicting info.
I am considering an HTC ONE with T mobile frequencies, but cannot tell if it will only give me gprs and edge in the EU, or if 3G as well.
Also looking at the Nexus 5 US version, but also not sure what speeds will I get in the old continent.

Thank you very much for any help,
I purchased the Pixel from the Google store, and I'm pretty sure it will work on MetroPCS, I'm just hoping someone who knows a little more about how that aspect of the network works can give me a little more insight.
I'm getting a little sick of paying $130 a month for 1 phone with 16 GB of data, and that is after a 22% discount through work...

I'm confused if you're paying that much why don't you just switch to their parent network(T-Mobile). You'll get much more incentives on a better network for a lower price.

the $130 is my price on Verizon. MetroPCS is $60 a month flat for unlimited data, and it doesn't throttle you down after a certain amount used. My biggest concern was T-Mobile customers having priority on the towers over MetroPCS customers during high congestion. but my friend who has MetroPCS used his all day at the Minnesota State Fair, data, calls, whatever, and never had an issue. That's 200,000+ people in a little over a square mile area, if he wasnt having priority issues then, I doubt I ever will.
It's mostly a question of since I bought the Google version of the Pixel instead of the Verizon version, will I be able to just stick a MetroPCS simcard in it and and have it work.
Oh I see. Was very lost with pricing lol, but yes seeing that metro pcs is a true gsm carrier all the bands for their network should be on the pixel...
It should work just fine. My experience with metro in one of the largest cities in the country (Houston, TX) has been great. I haven't noticed any slower data performance or call drops than when I had TMo proper, and you still get all the TMo perks, like not charging for data for popular apps like Youtube and Spotify (I don't pay for unlimited).

I'll be doing unlimited so that I can use Playstation Vue mobile without issues, and to watch Red Zone once I find another cheap alternative (Going to hate giving up my $1.99 a month access to it through Verizon. Vue charges $39.99 for 6 months). I watched an hour of the Olympics while mobile once and used about 4 GB of data...
I am thinking about going this route... but want to be sure that the Pixel will work with all of the TMobile bands so i'll have good service as well as the Wifi Calling work. Anyone with MetroPCS and a Pixel able to confirm?

Should work just fine on both WiFi calling and even voice over LTE. The only band the pixel doesn't have is Band 71.

Do you know how important Band 71 is?
I ask because I first had a Verizon Branded V20 and brought it to T-Mobile.. The reception was fairly poor around my house.. would barely get 4g .. and seemed to be bouncing towers... but when I sold it and got a T-Mobile Branded V20.. the reception is tons better.. works great. So i just want to make sure Band 71 isn't a primary one and i'll go back to having bad service with a Verizon / Unlocked Pixel version.
Thanks!

Band 71 is only for extended LTE. Really isn't that big of a deal. Verizon branded phones are different they have bands that are sometimes locked for Verizon. The only real difference between the Verizon pixel and the pixel from google was the unlock able boot-loader. As for band 71 it's not deployed in some cities and depends on where you live. Th most important band is band 12 which the google pixel has. I've had the pixel for Verizon and never had any problems with service or even download speeds. As for band 71 not even the pixel 2 or the iPhone x have it so you really don't need to worry about it. It should work on Metro pcs, but i believe you need update your imei through the Metro pcs website.
I just picked up a pixel 1 in great condition yesterday and did carrier swap this morning by phone and it works very well. Go for it
Yep! The wife bought me one! So I was able to get it up and running on Friday... been using it all weekend! So far it seems to be working wonderful!
So I have bought a HTC u11 plus and should get it today. What I have done the past week is check my bands at the places I visit most. And while driving. I used lte discovery app to help me with this and some Google searches. In my findings band 2 is hardly used when I am at home or driving. My 1+5 is always on band 4 or 12. At home is the only place where it is on band 2 but it switches to 4 and uses this mostly but I use wifi calling at home due to coverage sucking at my house. I did a Google search on band 2 and it is not very good around my areas. So people with TMobile USA should be fine to get this phone and use here. Also my cousin has a HTC 10 from overseas which has less bands enabled and has never had an issue with lte or call connection with TMobile. Once I get the phone I will do more testing for TMobile folks. Let me know your results if you have any.

Lol i got the notification on this and saw CJ. For a minute i was like is he referring to me? Who the heck is CJ lol i laughed after i figured it out. . Anyway so after having the phone in my hands with all of its beauty and awesomeness. I could not take it anymore. This phone works great if you have a wifi and data connection all the time. But for people who still makes voice phone calls it is the worst.. so bad i put it on ebay yesterday. I got so frustrated the other day. I was trying to make a call and when you do, it drops down to 2g,3g. The call qualty on that is horrible. The calls always dropped and when i did have a good connection the quality was horrible. Half the time i would not get text messages and not everyone uses whats app and that is what i was trying to use because i always will have data. No VOLTE which i missed no WIfi calling which does come in handy. So i kept looking and band 2 does more than LTE I believe that band 2 also deals with AWS which is needed for calling. Man i tried.... i tried to put up with it here in the states. The phone itself is just amazing the Pixel that got away is what i call it. So if you are here in the states Dont buy it unless you have data connection and everyone has like data messaging or calling for a strong data connection. I am really sad and dissapointed at HTC the phone i have been waiting for since the HTC sensation 4g. Hopes this helps.

Well, crap. Thank you for conducting the experiment. Yeah, it's the Pixel 2XL WITH an sd card slot, which is what I want, except apparently without Band 2, the thing's hobbled. I was gonna install the Google HDR+ camera app and have it all! Damn.
I got my hopes up because I saw reports of people bringing the Exynos Note 8 over here and getting it to work, but IT has Band 2! Seriously, how tough is it to add these bands! Do people want to sell phones or not?!!
Anyway, thanks again. An answer is an answer, even if it's not the one I was hoping for.
And yeah, if you're reclaiming that term, I completely respect that, but I still gotta go with CJ.
Sucks to hear that. I've been using my HTC U11+ in the Bay Area for about two weeks now and so far it's been absolutely flawless. Not a single issue finding LTE or dropping calls.

Sorry for the delayed response, but I got it from Amazon. Took about 4-5 days to receive it even though Amazons system said 2 weeks. I also just noticed that it's a decent amount cheaper now as well compared to when I bought it in December by over $100.

I agree with this I've had zero issues so far since getting this phone. Only had it for a day now but prior to I ran LTE Discover on my HTC U11 and saw I very rarely used Band 2 (San Diego). After some digging I saw how Band 2 works on T-Mobile and I'm OK without it. I'll be in Vegas in a week so I'll be curious how it holds up there, though I don't really expect hiccups. The one thing I do want to get back is VOLTE/VOWIFI.

No, it just says 4G. However, when using apps such as Speed Test by Ookla, it says I'm connected to "LTE T-Mobile", and the speed test are roughly what I was getting on my previous iPhone 6S Plus.

Thank you. I did install LTE Discovery and was able to get information on what band I am on and more. It keeps flipping back to 'H' loads which is made me wondering what I might be doing wrong if it is not in the phone itself. I am in a strong 4G LTE area for work (base) and home. My Nexus 6 and my Note 5 always read 4G LTE in an area as such. I still love this phone even though it's not 2 weeks old yet.
I'm tempted to get this for an upgrade from my HTC 10. I don't care too much about the dual camera for the HTC 12+, plus I want it in Red which might not even come out in the US. So with the bigger battery 3,900 mah, about $200 less and the red color now. Would this be a good buy if I typically travel around the east coast?
I have one I purchased on a recent trip overseas to Taiwan. My carrier here in the US is Tmobile and I only have connectivity issues in rural areas. Can someone point me to a stock ROM from Tmobile that would be compatible with this phone?
Thanks.
Only thing holding me back is LTE support in the United States.
I'll switch to any carrier
Better keep looking!

I'm afraid you'll get shoddy coverage -- LTE will work, but only on specific frequencies. AT&T and Sprint are your best bet, but 3G on Sprint won't work:

Hello, I know you only use the phone for gaming, but if you ever considering unlock the phone by this method(link below) , please let us know if it works. I think it's going to be really useful for a lot of people to make the decision to buy!
Thanks in advance, man.

Connectivity weirdness.....
My Mi Max 2 works well on AT&T. Very good voice and decent data rates.
The max 2 has the same cell signal compatibility as the Honor Note 10, per the website above in a prior post above this.
So, I would assume the Note 10 will have a good signal on At&T (but NOT cricket. Cricket sucks trust me).
The Mi Max 3 has more bands that both the max 2 and note 10 BUT, I had one and it has awful connectivity on at&t for voice calling!!!! Data is merely OK.
So, I might switch from Max 2 to Note 10 since my Max 3 upgrade didn't work out.
I give Note 10 a 50-50 chance of being usable in the USA on AT&T.
I have note 10 and I can get 4g lte on att. It's spotty at my house but I get it so far in the other places I have been.
