HELP!!! I have a Samsung Nexus S 4G from Sprint that decided to stop working. When it finally turned off for the last time, there was a battery icon that had an exclamation point in the center. I got a new phone with plans to have my Nexus fixed. But Sprint said it was past the time frame for them to look at it covered under insurance. So they said the battery port was jacked and or the battery itself was bad. So I got a replacement battery AND charger. Charged up the new battery then placed it inside and I got nothing. Phone will not start still. I have images of my daughters, video's and SMS's that I've backed up that I desperately would like to have back. Is there anyway to get any of this off the phone? Is there any way to bypass this whole battery startup? Can I buy another fully functional nexus s and start swapping parts?

weird issue in that for the past two days the phone will not power on. I can hit the power button which "does not appear to be stuck" and it will briefly turn on getting to 1st splash screen before going black and not coming back on. Can't get into anything. While ago messing with it I had it fully boot but when the screen timed out I hit the power button any it wasn't on anymore. I even got it to turn on for the drive home for about an hr and was able to listen to pandora. I have unlimited data so I didn't want to get a new phone. So I looked online and saw someone had a brand new s4 for 320.00 bucks.. which I think I can keep my data if I buy a phone elsewhere correct? I also looked at replacing the motherboard for my s3 which was 90 bucks. Need some assistance either making my s3 work or ideas of what phone to get under 300.00
also.. When I plug it in while it is off it doesn't appear to be charging.. Maybe it is the battery? Maybe it is the charging port?
I think you should try another battery first. However, I do have some questions. Is you charging port loose on your phone? Is your phone still under warranty through your carrier? I recently had issues with my S3 draining really bad. I'd plug it into the charger and it would definitely act like it was charging up but in all reality the battery was draining like a sieve. I called Verizon Wireless and ended up getting a new phone as a warranty replacement. It's working fine now. *knock on wood*

the light doesn't come on when charging like before. the port is not loose. I took the phone apart to see if there was something damaged or loose inside and everything seemed fine. I doubt the phone is under warranty. I just purchased a new battery for 16 bucks.. hope it works. I will update this thread on thursday once I get the battery in.
Sounds similar to what I ran into with my charging port going bad, currently it will only work with the stock charging cable but I have purchased a wireless charging battery cover and use that for 90% of my charging.

If you are gonna get an S4, make absolutely SURE it is an MDK build!! Anything after that has a locked bootloader! Ah hem...mine is MDK and comes with a mophie case...and glass screen protector... just saying.
the battery didn't fix the problem. I guess I will have to replace the motherboard. I bought the s4 today for 275. but as caleb stated it is locked.. oh well.. I think I can still root it. I am hoping I can replace the board no problems and atleast sell this thing for 175. Anyone have much luck with these boards? http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Samsung...05&prg=10335&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=271467013367&rt=nc
I am googling this problem for a friend with a stock verizon S3 - there are TONS of people who can't charge once they're on KitKat. Is that the case with you? It seems to be a software, not hardware, issue.
From the sounds of things, don't expect a new board to fix it.
Nope. I never updated.
Also, the charging part is not the only problem. I had a full battery but couldn't get the phone to stay on. Eventually I couldn't even turn it on at all. Just died.
I got my Sprint Galaxy S6 edge in from UPS the other day. I finally opened it today and found the battery completely dead. A quick search on the internet showed that some AT&T units were turning themselves on in transit thus arriving with dead batteries. Am I the first one on Sprint to have this issue? They blamed the AT&T issue on the packaging and the way the phone is boxed, and I would assume they are all packed the same. It is charging now.

My phone had like 30% battery or something around there when I got it and turned it on. Not sure if that was normal or due to the phone getting turned on during delivery or not.
Interesting. Mine was at 54%.

Well, I found a couple of defects under the rear glass and exchanged the phone today. The new one was at around 50% out of the box.
Hello XDA,
A couple months ago I decided to replace the stock battery with a $12 replacement I got off ebay. For those who keep up with the Nexus 5 news, a lot of users decide to replace their batteries because they think that a fresh battery can rejuvenate the battery of life of the phone, which makes sense. Apparently, despite looking the exact same as the stock one, it is made by Samsung because on the back it says "SAMSUNG TSD1 PGF445560LT.....". Because it's a third party, I saw a few posts online that said how much problems they had. I decided to still go with it because I guess I was desperate. After I replaced it, I honestly got similar results to what I got with the originally packaged battery. I decided to leave the battery in because I thought that maybe I could get better results over a longer period of time. Since June, I was running the Marshmallow preview, updated to preview 3.
Anyways, now to the part that matters. One week ago, my phone, running M Preview 3, was having random reboots, you know things I read about before I got the battery. It was also getting hot. I don't know if this was a bug with the preview, but I decided with my gut that it may have been because of the battery. So I decided to take apart my phone to replace the battery I got from Ebay with the one originally packaged in my phone. Well bad news here, because my phone wouldn't boot at all! After a couple of tries, I was able to see light on the inside after lifting the back cover. I was able to access the bootloader, however only when my phone was charging. I was able to flash fastboot commands allowing me to factory reset my phone. I was able to achieve something similar with the ebay battery accept I kept having this problem. Now I know you're thinking that maybe I should just buy a new battery, but what's to say that I'll get another crappy defect making me have the same problem? Can someone help me figure whether I damaged the phone elsewhere. I'm having a friend check it out tomorrow, but I would really appreciate your help.
If u can send me pics of the device, ask the connections and the board I can help, but not without seeing the device, I have the nexus 5, have replaced the battery and screen/digitizer and replaced a faulty USB port, so I know it inside and out, also have the Nexus 6 and waiting on the 5x, send me pics I'll look it over, all I can really say is NEVER buy a third party battery, always make sure it's the right battery, and when u take stuff apart like that u should always disconnect it first, never touch the board with the tools and make sure u don't damage connections at all

Okay, I will get back to you. I have to use an old phone to take the photo so it will take some time.
My AT&T edge wont turn on today. I awoke to a phone that was charging all night while on like normal, screen was off, charge LED was green, but the power button would not wake the screen.
Things that I have experienced before the problem and tried after:
About 5 months ago my camera stopped recording videos randomly. I could not record a video of any quality for more than 5-10mins in varying duration's the camera would just stop working and drop back to home screen no error message.
about a month ago my Edge started having a camera failed problem where using the camera sometimes "failed" where the app would freeze the whole phone for a few seconds then would crash to home screen.
about a week ago attempting to use the crippled camera to take a quick pic would drain a upto 70% filed battery instantly and it would take normal time to charge it like it was really dead. first and only time it has done this with over %40 battery
last week i unlocked the phone and put it on T-mobil and flashed 5.1.1 worked fine for 6 days still had camera problems was thinking new battery would fix it.
all this week battery could die at random times mostly below 40% but I was still getting 6-7hours a day from it, i figured it was a bad battery at the root of all this.
After this morning it would not power on I tried to power it with a hacked up USB cable, nothing.
My multi-meter says the battery has 4.37V
Would someone with a little more experience tell me if they think it's worth it to buy a new mobo, battery, and camera replacement for this phone or is it a waste of time? Is my line of thinking right is this a mainboard problem? If I attempt a repair does it make sense to try a new camera module?
This phone has never been dropped or wet it's in perfect condition as far as aesthetics go. Is it common for a phone to just not turn on at the end of its life?

If you think you have to do all that replacement, might as well go to swappa and buy a relatively good condition Edge which will prbly be cheaper than trying to get all those replacement parts. Unless you know where to get cheap replacements.
Bought my current TMobile variant from Swappa. No issues so far. you could also try Amazon

Swappa I'll check that out thanks
I tried a oven re-flow on the main board at 410F still no go.
Hello,
I went to a local repair shop that can replace my Google Pixel 2 battery. Since the battery got worse after 1 and a half year I decided to let it replace it.
So after it got replaced I noticed some weird issues and I don't know what I should do now.:
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
First issue, somehow the sim tray is broken and it felt stuck. It doesn't pop out anymore and now I broke it and the SIM card is still there (does work btw).
The second issue is that the phone gets hot for no reason with some use with mobile data. It gets hot in the upper area of the phone right next to the sim card and in where the fingerprint sensor is.
Also around the top of the camera area.
I mean it wasn't like that before. It could get hot when I was playing games but NEVER when I was with mobile data on twitter for a few minutes. Now after I watched a 5 minutes video, damn it got a bit warm/hot (tendency more to hot).
The third issue is that the phone doesn't charge when it's completely turned off! There is the charging animation but the juice doesn't get up high (It remains where it got charged). Only when I turn the phone on it will charge normally.
Just what happened? Its a fresh new original battery? I don't want to go to the repair shop again just to get charged with more money and other issues.
Anyone any advice or just buy a new phone?
