For all those who have got a Zeki 7 inch tablet who found out it does not come with google apps like Google play, Google Maps, and gmail.
Now to start off your zeki comes fully rooted, so no need to install superuser or any of that stuff.
1st: you need to have a micro sd card to do this process.
2nd: Use your PC to download the update.zip file.
3rd: Put the update.zip file on the micro sd card. (put the card in to your tablet) make sure zip is on root not in any folders
4th: go in to settings, go all the way down to About tablet and click that, now you will see systemUpdate
5th click check now. It will ask if you want to update and it will auto find the update file. just click yes
6th the system will boot to recovery mode and flash the update, once done it will reboot Android 4.0.3 and you have you Gapps
Now it can take up to 10 minute for Market place to update to the google play store. You can start upgrading your apps and downloading the goodies you want.

Why don't you get the latest gapps at http://goo.im/gapps, rename it to update.zip and install that? Then you'll have all the latest gapps, updated as well

Since I haven't been able to get google talk to work I have been trying other programs. I tried oovoo but their was a screen rotation issue, it kept making me appear sideways. Then I tried skype and it works but I despise skype and I would much rather use google talk. At least I know I can try tango and see if its better than skype, I'm still hoping for google talk though.
Do you have netflix on your zeki? I tried installing it from the play store and when I tried opening it would just go black then go back to the zeki homescreen. I was able to get a hacked version of netflix on there but I was just curious if anybody else had the same issue.

Hi,
I'm currently using nk111's CM10 build, but the GApps are not working. I flashed this package: gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
After the first boot gmail was on my phone. I don't know if maps etc was on it too. But after some time I could not find gmail anymore.
Has anyone a suggestion for me?
Well the last time I checked there was no Gmail in the latest gapps package. Neither Maps. But you can download both from Google Play, so actually you do not have a problem

I find the gmail app, if I browse the play store with my pc.
I think it's because of some license issues and google did not fix it.

I think Gmail is named as Google Mail in Germany because of those license issues.
Yes, but I'm not able to install it nevertheless. I also can't find it using the Play Store app, but only with my pc browser.
I installed it using MarketEnabler.

To get milk music working on rooted, not samsung (and older samsung) devices.
Step 1: Back Up Your Build.prop
Just make a copy somewhere on your sd card, also make a backup of your os.
Step 2: Tweak Your Device Brand & Model.
Now go back to the /system directory, but this time tap on build.prop, don't long-press. Choose RB Text Editor to edit the file, then look for the model, brand, and manufacturer lines (highlighted below). Your original ones will show:
Note:as there are so many devices the <text> areas below will instead be specific to your device but the rest should be the same.
ro.product.model=<model>
ro.product.brand=<brand>
ro.product.manufacturer=<manufacturer>
Simply change them to match a (newer) Samsung device. I used a Galaxy S4.
ro.product.model=Galaxy S4
ro.product.brand=Samsung
ro.product.manufacturer=Samsung
Step 3: Save the build.prop
Step 4: Sideload the apk, because the play store still wont let you download it. So I am hosting an apk copy in my dropbox for ya'll.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/a16vvbhu4h6gvg7/com.samsung.mdl.radio-1.0.176956 (1).apk
Milk Music will now work with most of the functionality that it would on a native Samsung device, except that you won't be able to log into a Samsung account for syncing stations or enable explicit content from the settings.
Please post if this is working or not working for you. Include your device name, android version, and rom version.
Please let me/us know of any tweaks to this process you had to preform in order to get this working.

I don't know much about it, but it sounds like something an Xposed Mod might be able to address.
Well what do you know - there's a new module in xposed that can make it work. Looks like it was just added.

i used ART for the first month of owning my N5... then i switched to dalvik for some of goodies that xposed offers... tried out a few and ultimately preferred stability over features and i basically removed all xposed and just left it with dalvik for a bit... I noticed lags and stutters here and there and eventually switched back to ART and I can honestly say that ART is MUCH smoother and stable than running any other mode... i've tested this extensively with various settings and setups (always stock ROM with stock kernel or Franco) and nothing is as smooth as using ART... so i'm not going back for even one feature using xposed... just my experience

I also have a S3 running slimkat. I didn't bother editing the build.prop and just installed the apk. Works fine. Not being able to log in sucks though because I need my explicit fix!
It is possible to install the Samsung account app on non touchwiz firmware. I have managed to sideload it into CM11 and a GPe ROM on my S4.
Here's the .apk that I have saved on my SD card for when I flash new firmware:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/qptszssdcl52i5n/Samsungservice.apk
Install it like any other app. Then in settings>accounts, add a new account and select Samsung. The app will ask to update, then you can create an account or login to an existing one. Milk Music will automatically see the account and then you can enable explicit lyrics in the app.
The only problem I have with Milk Music is that I can't update it. Samsung changed the way it determines device compatibility and "broke" the app for custom firmwares. I had to sideload it and just have to search for the .apk whenever the app gets updated since it won't update via google play store.

I keep getting the "App not installed" error when trying to install the updated version , any ideas? The original version installed fine, I just can't update it with the latest.
Sorry, I don't have any idea what would cause that. I use the apk downloader to pull the file from Google play since my phone (t mobile S4 running the GPE firmware) comes up as incompatible when I try to go to the app directly the play store. This apk installed just fine for me. Try uninstalling the existing app and then install the 7/1 file.

Thank you !
I don't have any involvement outside of providing the apks. I deleted the old files and left only the Samsung account apk and the latest milk music apk.
All I can suggest is deleting the old app, rebooting to recovery and clearing cache and dalvik and trying to reinstall. Maybe re-download the apk also. (Try apkdownloader or apkleecher to pull the actual file from Google play - that's how I managed to get it). Other than that, I can't provide any answers

No problem! I do not know the exact reason but when I did this without rebooting (I did a factory reset before each test I did) after each it did not work and I was getting logcat logs I think were saying that it could not find the added google permissions. Because those services must have new permissions not native to barebone AOSP. So I am assuming it needs those reboots to register the new permissions. And yes I got tired of the youtube app I was using beforehand also I am glad this guide could help you!

Just a note for anyone having account issues. When you get to the Google account sign-in stage, you might get a 'username/password do not match' error, even though you know you entered them properly. The reason it fails is because of 2-step verification on your Google account. If you disable it temporarily, then sign in, it'll work.
Thank you for this hack, nice to have a full YouTube implementation back on my 8.9" HDX. BTW, I have Google Search working (i.e., voice search, "ok google", Google Now cards and everything) using Version 3.4.15.1143430 downloaded from the AndroidPolice site (http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...gs-ok-google-hotword-detection-to-any-screen/).

Just to clarify - you do not need to turn off 2-step verification (would never advise to do so, even temporarily). Just be sure to generate an app-specific password by going into your Google Account settings > Security > App Passwords, and use that instead of your real password when completing the sign-in.

Extract Fire gApps into the /download folder of your Fire HD.
Install ES File Explorer (or similar) onto your Fire HD.

Thank you very much powerpoint45!
Your solution is the reason why I decided not to root my HDX (if this is for good or bad? we'll see )
Gives me the opprtunity to enjoy the Android 4.4 (however still crippled by FireOS) and run some of the most important apps.
Maybe you should create an own thread in the HDX forum? More people would get to know about it! (A link from ONYXis in another thread brought me here) The more people start to play with the 4.5.1 version, the higher the chance someday someone will finally come up with root for the new version or even a bootloader unlock (*daydreaming*)

Hi guys!
I got a MI 4c last week while I was on China. But now I'm facing a problem, I installed the play store, Google services, also the Google Contact apk and Calendar...Even though, I can't get my contacts from my Google account synced.
Anyone knows how to solve it?
Checked the Miui forum but couldn't find any help.
Thanks!

How did you put Playstore on it?
I think you should have erased everything and install Xiaomi.eu directly to start fressh with no problems...
Is your bootloader blocked (by installing a recent dev Rom)?
It's simple, just downloads the apks of play store and Google services, install them and reboot.
I prefer to use the Chinese rom, but I need my contacts back :/
