Voicemail notification - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought my wife Sprint Nexus 16gb and the only problem I'm having getting her set up is voicemail. I've been on the phone with Sprint each the last 3 days. They've tried clearing and resetting, I've tried with and without Google Voice. But we keep getting a phantom voicemail notification. I'd prefer to leave her on GV as that's what I use on my note2. But at this point I'd love any suggestion that will make it go away. The phone is all stock and since it is her phone I'd like to leave it that way for now. Thanks in advance!

I have the same issue... I think it's in GV where it says... show voicemail notification in dialer or something like that. I had that when it was turned on.... Haven't tried it turned off yet... but I'm guessing it's worth a shot if it's really bugging you.

Not getting some new text notifications

Anyone else notice that they're not getting notifications for some received texts on the Inspire? It seems to be random, and I don't notice the new text until I open up the messaging app and see it there, I don't get sound/vibrate or anything in the notification bar. I'm using the Inspired ROM and rooted but I don't think that's the cause of the problem.
I noticed the same thing this morning. I'm completely stock for the moment.

Well, I guess I'm glad it's not just me. I hope somebody has a fix for it.
I only sent a test message last night after I got the Inspire and it was received and I was notified without issue. Then I installed Handcent and turned off stock messaging app Notifications and Handcent has been working fine.
Rooted with a dhd rom here. I didn't think I was having this problem but checked my messages and sure enough I had one from a hour ago I never got a notification about..... the gf soooo isn't going to believe me its my phone again.

I had a similar issue where my 2 Gmail accounts weren't giving notifications when I received new email. Also my Sense clock/weather wasn't always updating the weather when I unlocked the phone.
I ended up doing a factory reset and reinstalled all my apps manually and everything appears to be fine at the moment.

I've had the same thing happen. I was in the middle of a conversation and it seemed like the other person just disappeared. Was going to send them another text when I noticed they had actually responded.
The issue clearly hasn't been resolved... It's happening to me as well. No notification. Or I get it, hear it and feel it, and then unlock my phone and no notification in the top bar or on the msg icon on my homescreen. But its def there when I open msgs....this is very frustrating as I've been patiently waiting by my phone for an answer about a new job. Has anyone had a fix for this? I'm completely stock no root. I'm about to go on to ATT and have words with them if it can't be resolved I'm geting a new phone...this is stupid we can't get basic functionality to work....out of the box.
You could try using a different SMS app like Handscent that does notifications itself. I think Go SMS does notifications too.
Or they could admit there is an issue and fix it. I shouldn't have to get a third party app to do basic phone functions like sms and phone. Wtf!
Or you could root your phone instead of expecting AT&T to fix something when it takes them months just to release updates for things that should have been included in the first place.
Well its not really on ATT its on HTC. And besides rooting would void my warranty. And if I get this job ill be leaving the country, in which case id like to return the phone as I doubt it will do me much good in the Netherlands. Either way. Shoulda worked correctly out of the box. It's an HTC sense/Rom issue not an ATT service issue.

T-Mobile Text Messages Not Working

Bought the Z3 on 11/11/14, was working fin until the 13. Text messages will say "sending" and I will not be able to receive any messages. Was on the phone with T-Mobile tech support for over 2 hours troubleshooting, no luck. Went back to the store, got a new sim card, and exchanged for a new phone, working fine until the next day (today).
This is my second z3, used multiple sim cards, did factory reset, nothing works text messages still will not receive or send. Salesman told me I can switch phones to anything else. What should I do?
Extremely disappointed in Sony. I believe this is a phone error as I had a Galaxy S3 with tmobile since 2012 with no issues.
I haven't had any problems with mine from T-Mobile. Does it work on WiFi calling? I really don't think it's the phone..

right, and the tech support rep said no issues have been reported with sony. I don't understand what the problem is then? I created a ticket with t-mobile engineering, hopefully that resolves the problem. If not, I'm jumping back to the S3

phone calls and data work fine. just text/picture messaged are extremely delayed, or non functional.
could any of my downloaded apps be corrupting the sms service?
I didn't even get a chance to root yet...

I'm not sure how an app could corrupt anything... Especially without root.
Do you still have the S3? Pop your sim in and try and text.

can't do that....z3 has nano sim, s3 has micro sim. I actually do not have a phone with nano sim besides the z3

yes, but the problem continued on hangouts. I was just on the phone with tmobile tech, and she sent me a picture message, and it took over 30 minutes to receive. I sent a message to myself at 9am cst, and still haven't received.
It happens to me every once and a while, it happen yesterday but all I do is a soft reset.. Then it's sends the text..
If I had to guess it might be a fluke thing or maybe something to do with having stamina mode on but since I get incredible battery ? results it worth the hassle ..
Also I have done a factory reset and use the new Sim that came with the phone ..But it still happens ,I know it does because I get the did not send Error message ..
But for me personally it happens like maybe once or twice a week ..
Hey no phone is perfect but this Phone is so close to it with,whatever shortcomings it might have..

I never get the "send error" message, and I do not have stamina mode on. This is an amazing phone, no doubt about it, but I may be experiencing a bad batch or something.
This is not an intermittent issue, it is constant and never ending. My 2 Z3's have been far from perfect, and cannot handle the simple task of sending sms. Also the phone has rebooted by itself a couple times already. Sadly, I'll have to return it or wait for the tmobile engineering decision.
What apps do you have installed? My phone has rebooted/froze/force closed at all.

about 40 random ones from the store. actually, I tried to take a picture from the messaging app and it froze. I think the messaging failure is corrupting other processes on the phone, it gets really hot

If it's getting hot there must be an app stuck trying to do something, check and see what app(s) are using a lot of the battery, GSam works pretty well. Then uninstall/disable it

I've got the same issue, every so often my phone fails to send a text. It happens at least twice a day. First I thought it was Hangouts, so I disabled the SMS setting on it, and used the stock app, but it's doing the same thing. Sometimes I will retry three or four times with no success. I'm usually able to resend after waiting a few minutes.
I'm not on wifi, I don't use wifi calling. I have great signal strength, and mobile data is working, so I'm not sure why my messages won't send...
I'd also like to note, I came from a Nexus 4, NEVER had an issue with texts not going through... so I really don't think it's T-Mobile...

good point. had that app installed on my s3, just haven't downloaded it yet due to all the resetting. will download now and see the problem. do you think the tmobile ticket will do anything? Yes same exact problem. It must be something weird on the phone that we need to configure. Maybe tmobile can adjust on their end. Yourr the only one in the USA to agree with me and this problem with the z3.

No clue, I've never dealt with T-Mobile support. Although my general consensus with carrier stores, is that the employee's are generally brain dead and just trying to get their commission on device/plan sales. (Does not apply to all of them) Most just have no idea what they are selling.
However, you definitely have an app doing something in the background. The only time my phone gets hot is while charging and using it, or doing something that stresses the processor. (4K Video/Games...etc.)

I'll keep that in mind. Can't download apps now! Lol! Just tried to download the gsam app via network and via wifi and it just stays stuck. I'm done, there's no way this phone will last 2 years like the s3

No Voicemail Notifications...?

So I just switched back to my M8 from my M9. Updated it to MM with the stock firmware and the Stock rooted VZW MM Rom. I thought everything was just going fine but realized today that I haven't been getting any voicemail notifications. If my phone is in airplane mode, and turn it back on and someone leaves a VM, no notification. If I decline a call and they leave a VM.. no notification. Never seen this before and kind of frustrating.

The m9 included vvm basic. Download the Verizon vvm app and you should have your voicemail back.
I deleted your other posts about this same issue in other threads. Please only post the same problem once.

Except this is the M8, went back to my old M8 FROM the 9. I've never had or used VVM. In my life and everything has always worked perfectly fine on both the 8 and 9.
I did get it fixed somehow, it's definitely on VZW's side. Just logged in to my account, reset the voicemail option. Call in to your VM and set it up again and everything seems to be working fine.
I've tried looking for VVM basic but it's never an option and always wants me to pay the $3 / month or whatever it costs. Never seen a free "VVM" basic.

You didn't read my post correctly. The m9 added that basic vvm option to your account with advanced calling. Don't believe me?

Ahhhhhh.... I see what you're saying now... Gotcha. So when I switched back to the M8, the basic VVM was still active on my account and I had to go in and switch it back to the normal VM for it to work properly on the M8. Makes sense and of course I would never doubt you Dottat... That would be foolish

I used to have a screen shot of what all got added with advanced calling on the m9. I went looking for it but never found it. It's not unique to the m9 either. When my employees all got upgraded to iPhone 6 and subsequently had volte enabled it completely wiped and reset their voicemail. They didn't realize for weeks their voicemail was no longer setup. Also screws up google voice voicemail users too.

Calls and texts not coming in at times.

I'm using the International version of the flat S7 on T-Mobile. I've been having this problem for about 2 months now although now it's happening much more frequently. I contacted T-Mobile about my problem, they went over some stuff in the sim card. Such as updating something, checking my area for interruptions, running a diagnostics on my phone. They said everything was fine. Although the problem kept continuing. They sent me a new sim card free of charge in hope of fixing my device. Even then that didn't help, my calls and texts still randomly do not come through. There are times it does and times it doesn't at all. Now I'm wondering if I have a faulty device? Is there any more options I could do to fix this problem?

Hi, I have tried S7 dialer app (SecContactsProvider.apk & SecContacts_M.apk - deodexed) for my samsung device (J2 2016), It worked fine but suddenly it stopped posting missed call notifications in call log and elsewhere. It becomes very difficult to track who called since there are no traces of caller. Really looking for fix for this.

Pixel 3 Speakerphone issues?

I got my Pixel 3 unlocked from Google a couple of days ago. I really love the phone, but oddly, every time that I call my wife and I'm on speaker, it always takes 8-10 seconds for her to be able to hear me. This happens with no one else, as I've called multiple people on speaker. Google offered to RMA the device, but I'm not convinced that it's a hardware issue. If it's a software issue that will likely be fixed in the future, I will just keep this one. I'm not entirely sure what to make of it, but I don't really want to go through the RMA process just for it to continue happening. Has anyone else had similar experiences? From what I can see on Reddit and elsewhere, it appears to be a rather commonplace issue. I just can't justify waiting for another device to solve a wide spread problem. If it was a fluke issue, then a factory replacement wouldn't make me nervous. I think that I am just going to return the device for a full refund and wait for something else to come out. Sucks though, because I otherwise loved this phone.
I have noticed this as well. I try to talk over the speaker and the person on the other end can't hear me for a little bit. I might try to RMA the phone. How'd you go about talked to Google Support about the issue? A phone call, chat or email?

I was using the chat service, it worked fine. I haven't RMA'd the device. I went and got a new SIM card from AT&T and it seems better. I did tons of test calls to other people on different carriers and it only ever happened with my wife, who is in Verizon. For that reason, I don't think there is a hardware issue with my device, but I don't know what it might be.

I figured it out while I was messing with it yesterday. Turn off HD voice. "enhanced LTE" in the network settings menu and that fixes it. I am on AT&T and had great connectivity with same carrier subscribers, Sprint, and others. I tried calling multiple friends with Verizon and had the issue every time. So I just turned it off.
Update: it looks like December update fix my issue. Will update again if something happen

This speakerphone issue is happening to me using TMobile and also using Whatsapp calls.
I noticed this issue because the phone is also not connecting to my Honda Civic 2016 Bluetooth and tried using the speakers.
I'll wait for December 2018 update and make lot of test before I contact Google.
I'm using the regular Pixel 3 white.
I have the same issue,,,when I first get a call and answer it with speakerphone no one can hear me for a few seconds then if I toggle speaker off then back on it works okay??

Doesn't this remove the ability to use group chats?
I got my wife the Pixel 3 at launch and we're on the 3rd phone because of this issue and it's still happening. It only happens on speakerphone (not regular) and her speakers seem to be fine which makes me think it's software and not hardware.

I agree with you. I think I'm still having issues with it even without it on. My wife is still saying it sounds like I'm in a tunnel any time I'm on speaker. I hope they get this resolved, and ASAP.

I am wondering if anyone has tried turning off the wifi calling option? I havent tried that yet as it is the only thing I havent tried to see if my phone doesnt have problems when first answering a call with the phones speakerphone and people on the other end not being able to hear me for the first few seconds? I saw in a Google thread that there may be a problem with the handoff of wifi to actual LTE calling and it makes it difficult for the phones speaker to know where to apply the sound to? I dont have a sim in my phone currently so I am wondering anyone else tried this to see?

I've had WiFi Calling and VoLTE disabled for a while now - still garbage call quality on speakerphone.

i have a new google pixel 3 after an ota update my speacker is not working anymore i tried to reboot the phone and even flashing it but nothing worke with me. can any one help please ?

Newest update ending in C3 for my Pixel 3 has fixed my speakerphone problem, so far! Will keep you posted.

Yes, she just updated and tested speakerphone with one of the iPhone's she was having trouble with and no problem. Seems to be working for now!
