Cool

I don't think so that they will be updating it

I recently spoke to a Samsung rep (Samsung's website live chat) and with a Samsung rep (in person). Both said:
"it will be updated, at least to Android 4.3, but we cannot tell you when".
So I'm pretty sure we are getting 4.3 at some point. Heck, if the Note 2 and S III got it, it's only reasonable that our Note 10.1 gets it. It was the flagship tablet of its (short) time, such as the Note 2 and S III being flagships/high-end. Everyone's been saying that Samsung won't update it to force us go for the Note 10.1 2014 edition, so why did the Note 2 and Galaxy S III get the update (ok, ok, Galaxy Gear blabla)? Wouldn't they force you to go for a Note 3 and Galaxy S IV? You get my point.
So, be prepared to wait (wait... wait... wai...), and official news about the updates *cough kitkat* are coming.
My guess is: Android 4.3 and no Android 4.4, unfortunately but thankfully.

Dont care, as I am happy with what I got. Anyway most updates after a certain point will start requiring more hardware power. Like going from win95 to xp. Thanks for the info

I only want 4.3 since I hope that it will fix the USB host mode bug...

It's an one year old device, so hopefully they will update to 4.3

The problem that USB connections (host mode) do not always work.

Maybe only on some country's ROMs?

well.. actually with KitKat the have gone reverse. like a phone with 512 mb can run it.
Some older model (2010) phones are capable of running a slimed version of kitkat
So there is no chance that our beloved note 10.1 couldnt run it

There are several other threads on this topic. It possibly depends on combinations of hardware and ROMs. I'm quite sure it started after the upgrade to xxucma8. It could be a combination of certain apps. But it's a nuisance.

NO Note 2 Phone updated
I keep seeing this several times on this forum . The NOTE 2 Phone has not got the 4.3 update. There is no word on when we will get it. A few days back there was a so Called leak for the [email protected] Version. Some have tried it on t-mobile(what i have note 2 phone. But with Large issues. I cant say how this leak is running on a at&t note 2.
So the bottom line is NO Update for note 2 phone.
If you find one differently let me know Because i want My Update. Its a expensive phone to be left behind.

Wasn't the a contractual agreement with Google among android licensees to upgrade all devices for at least 18 months?

http://www.sammobile.com/2013/11/18/galaxy-tab-2-10-1-wi-fi-gt-p5110-receiving-android-4-2-2-update/
Seriously, if the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 gets Android 4.2.2, our Note must get some sort of update, don't you guys think? Otherwise they wouldn't update Galaxy Tab 2 and make you buy the Tab 3.
So, calm down everyone, we are probably getting a newer Android version

Didnt 2014 just came on sale in Canada? I think this is the problem - 2014 model isnt even sold world wide. I think they want people to replace their old 2012 models to new one. If they update the 2012 model, people wouldnt see any reason to upgrade or buy newer and more expenisive device. Dont know... just speculating...
But budget price tab2 gets an update before their premium line device - this is something you wont expect to see and happen when buying a premium prize device. You expect to get a premium class customer care, dont you? Unfortunately it seems to be something special that Samsung cannot offer... A flagship without updates... so sad...

Well,

and keeping support for AC-3 codecs!
It's been nearly a year and i have still the same TW 4.1.2 rooted system.

"The only hard number thrown out today is 18 months. That's how long future hardware will be in the support cycle" (from your link above)
Support and applicable updates. I didnt see that they said phones will get all Android updates. As far as I know, there is no such contract. If you wish to get Android updates, only Nexus line is supported for 18 months.
Samsung is known to be lazy but this is too much for a premium class flagship model. It's already 10months I got A4.1. and then nothing while my bfs budget prize Asus Tf300 has 4.2 (already 6 months ago).

Yes, it's true, Asus is superb, as always when it comes to firmware updates. Very close to Nexus line.
However, their QC is another story.
BTW, anyone who says Sony is great with updates haven't any experience with their VAIO line.

Actually Samsung is pretty timely with updates - as long as there is NOT a North American carrier in the loop (So T-Mobile TabPlus users are probably screwed.)
Once there's a North American carrier in the loop - you're screwed with almost any device from any manufacturer. The Tab 10.1 received updates in a fairly timely fashion, the I9000 did too, and the I9100 seems to be coming along fine.

I am surprised
I am very concerned and surprised that Chinese tablets are coming with ICS 4.3, even Sony S tablet has already updated to ICS via OTA and our device still has the same version that is Honeycomb. The most amazing thing is that Samsung is mentioning that our device is starting to receive the updates but when??? They are saying the same thing from long time ago.
there are no ICS updates for this devices...???
just curious, samsung forget this tab
Nothing yet, I think Samsung will not update it.
Don't think there will be, since SS just released Tab 2 which is an ICS tab... (possibly to take down kindle)

They said it may get ICS, but being a new device means nothing. For Samsung, 'soon' usually applies only to the next device they want to sell you.

It is in the list of devices, that will get ics
But first....
It could receive ICS but Samsung needs to sell his new ICS TAB 2 devices to the customers who are expecting the new android version anxiously. the strategy works because many people prefer selling their old tablet and buy a new one.
We could just hoping that we WILL receive ICS.. we'll just need to wait n see..

Galaxy S2 phones in Canada began getting ICS starting in May. Given that phone came out about a year or so before the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus... well, some Galaxy S phones in the US only just got Gingerbread in May.
With that sort of precedent, I fear we might not get ICS until the Google Nexus Tablet 2 with the Tegra 5 chipset is released.
Our tab will get ics, its a known fact. As much as I want the ics upgrade, I am happy they have not released it yet because we would all be *****ing about the peel ap not working with ics and other things that make the gal plus tab better that the the basic tabs that did get the update. Look at the asus transformer ts3, mybrother in law has it and it is a disaster right now.

Then it would cost them a lot of bricked devices due to broken recovery in ics
I hope they are in hurry to fix that in order to reduce the number of RMA requests due to hard brick while resetting to factory default
Since Samsung is already putting out test releases of 4.1 JB for the P3100 (tab 2.7 ) It might not be too long. Yeah , I know, its a different processor.

I hope that too. but I hope for Wi-Fi fix for current official rom first.
Present I use CM10 because I can't connect Wi-Fi in many sites. :crying:
I tried more solution but can't solve this problem
Don't expect to receive the update until next year for P6200 and 6 month (maybe a year?) for P6210.
I'm not happy with Samsung and I'm not alone.
I bought my gtab and a Sony smartphone 6 month ago.
In 6 month the phone receive 5 updates (3 GB and 2 ICS) and in the same time my gtab receive only one update (crappy Honeycomb).
Luckily XDA is here for me and I can flash ICS with Odin (but first attempt trigger the infamous brick bug).
It's a shame to spend for 350 € (I live in Belgium) and see our product forgotted by his constructor.
Long time ago I've a same story with a Toshiba tablet and tell me not to revive this with my new tablet.
I choose to buy Samsung to avoid this but this firm disappointed me.
One thing is certain my next tab won't be a Samsung.!

This is great news, but I hope that they fix the wifi issue. My wife's tablet cannot stay connected to the wifi, and it is like it has become worse the further away she moved from Honeycomb. I also hope that they reinstate App2SD ability and give us the option to add our own apps or shortcuts to the mini apps tray.. I don't care how long it takes to receive an update, just as long as they fix the wifi and app2sd issues.
Hopefully this update will bring more interested developers for our tablets.

Well obviously Samsung is pushing the updates for the gear watch. I just don't see how a 10 inch tablet would be practical for the gear. This 4.3 update came really quick considering 4.3 just came out. Hell the s2 might even get an update as many people have it on prepaid carriers and also a lot probably got the phone free on contract. I doubt kit kat will come as quick to any Sammy devices they will probably have the attitude that be grateful we gave you an update...seriously considering nexus 5/6 for my next phone

Dont forget, some of us are using the phone model N8000 or similar and definitely would like to get Gear working with Note 10.1. It is funny that Samsung makes updates for pocket phones (easy to carry, easy to be taken out) but where is the update for a tablet size phone?? Who needs more Gear: a person having S3 in his front pocket or a person carrying his Note 10.1 in a bag? Also with 10.1 you cannot share your SNote files anymore because phones having 4.3 has newer version of SNote and hence new file extension. You dont see how Gear would be practical a phone sized 10.1? But you think it ispractical for people who are carrying their phones in pockets? If i had a phone in my pocket, I wouldnt even consider to buy Gear (it doesnt offer any practical use for that price).

Only one reason? Note 10.1 is incompatible with other Note-serie phones/tablets havng newer SNote app. We arent happy at work. Actually we are quite angry. We cannot share our SNote files anymore between people in a project group. Samsung changed their own application, SNote, to be incompatible with phones not having 4.3. Some of us bought GN3 and made changes to shared SNote files and no one cannot open the file anymore. Is this enough?
Note 10.1 (2012) is barely a year old device, should be a member of Samsung premium line, so called flagships. What premium is owning a phone without support? Remember that Note serie is marketed also for business and schools. They dont chance their devices every 6-12 months. Only premium seems to be the price....

I can see your point, for me though if I am not using my tablet it I turn it off. A phone for my usage serms more practical. When charging or when in pocket I can check email or text. Then again I hate wearing watches and love that phone have made wearing a watch not important. Not really liking the idea of the smart watch

I believe these are reasons to buy the new note 10.1, but not the reasons to push update for tablets
We won't fall in the same trap Samsung!

yes !
I certainly hope that now that 4.4 supports Ir blasters we will see custom ROMs that support it as well. Idc of Samsung doesn't update to 4.4 but I sure hope the community does

Maybe next year when android 5 updates come to the galaxy s5 comes out we will see a 4.4 kitkat on our tablet. Priority will always be new phones and tablets. But im pretty sure we will get it some day. Also I think there is a problem with incompatibility from snote from note 3..a lot of complains will happen if the note 10.1 upgrade with it and people cang open files
Which model are you guys talking about?
I have a GN GT-N8013 ( 64G GNote 10.1 original ) and am still waiting for Samsung to come out with 4.3.
Am happy with the basic note but would really love multiple user support.
It's not likely the 8013 will see anything beyond 4.3.

Call it insider knowledge.
Note 2 and SGS3 having similar internals are supposed to get upto Android 4.4 Kitkat..so why not?
But having said that both these phones have only just started getting 4.3 few days back in some regions, so who knows Kit Kat can take couple of years to come to Note N8000, when Google release android 5
Its really a shame on Samsung, they should only release a limited number of devices each year for which they can release timely updates..
As it sits right now, we are 3 OS versions back. We will get an update in the (near?) future. Will we get 4.4? Probably. Will it be before the end of 2014? Right now it seems unlikely.
I'm living in the Netherlands and my Galaxy Note 10.1 N8010 runs on Android 4.1.2. (The latest available version in the Netherlands)
When will the N8010 get android 4.2 or higher.

Wappiesoft, That was the exact same question as I asked^^
I think it will come out late 2013 or early 2014.

I dont think samsung is considering an update for the tablet. If it was the case we would have seen at least a couple test roms.
But i still didnt give up on wishful thinking.
Anyways if this tablet dont see any updates, I will never buy a samsung again unless it is nexus.

They've already said it will get 4.3 and 4.4, we'll get 4.3 sometime before the end of the year. 4.4 would be like before summer lol.

i wont fall into the same trap again. thats the reason holding me back from buying the note 2014.
Sorry guys if this is going a *little* bit off-topic (I'm going to talk about Android 4.3, rather than 4.4, but hey, still about an update for our awesome yet forgotten 10.1....)
It's a quote from a reply on other thread, by me.

Any updates on this? I read a rumour about the upcoming KitKat update. Is it true?

NEWS: Samsung will skip 4.4.4 directly to 5; also 5 fixes a lot of the SD problems

Very good news, probably in 2-3 months at most.
Slowly im thinking we won't get any updates any more...Samsung will release another s5 version with 5.0 In 3-4 months there will be 5.3 or something then Samsung will tell we skip 5.0 to 5.3 like with 4.4.3 or now 4.4.4 and all this only to push note 4 and edge but the best part of that is that they will tell in few months that note 3 galaxy s5 got 4.4.4 cause Verizon/sprint and s5 lte a like with s3 actually they updated china/korea s3 to 4.4.4 why they are wasting time to work on region specific firmware and then bulls hit like this to current flagships (note 4 is 2 weeks old and has 4.4.4 ) im owner of tab 3 s3 s4 s5 and n3 I love Samsung but their confusing bulls hit update policy is making me pissed off that company.... I think my next phone will be oneplus one follower....or nexus ...

Bad news for the Note 4 port..
Stop been so negative. This is good news. Means we will get 5.0 even quicker. It's a very good move. Think I'll keep my note 3 now.
Dont write this on public site - Samsung may read that and dont upgrade N3 at all (then you must buy N4) I think its good move - i can wait for new android - my N3 is working fine.
I had n2, now n3 and i will buy n4 when price will a little bit lower.
note 3 will get 5.0 for sure. based on 18 months support. most ppl won't upgrade every year. note 4 is mostly for note 2 users.

2-3 is a bit too optimistic. 6 months is my wild guess. as the spen apps testing.
i think its a good move from Samsung to update the Note3 with Android 5 , this shows that ppl who buy a Samsung device ( flagship ) dont have to worry that their device would be outdated after a year and that it is a good investment.
Maybe they release that before I buy a new phone
Never Samsung again.
Maybe Huewai or Nexus.
Be glad. If we'd gotten 4.4.4,we would not have gotten 5.0.(as we already had one major upgrade, and we only get two in total.)
Oh, and normally I'm not this childish, but right now I just can't help it.
I told you so.
There. That's to everyone who told me I was wrong repeatedly and none too kindly when I said weeks ago that this would be the case.

Good good. The only issue is how long it would take. Interestingly the Tweet says the international versions.
if samsung still follow their normal screw you we lied on update style... we will keep getting push backward until all new device release got a good sale...

If it comes, it will be at most by mid 2015 !!!
Don't forget the latest products will get Android 5 first and this won't be before the end of 2014...

There is already a version leaked for the S4 which looks promising:

I keep my estimate - first week of February (or before) for international Note 3, and we'll see at that point who was right

Tablets have completely different update policies, it's like apples and ... canned ham. Not even close.
Here is a new video showing the kind of differences we could expect:

seems google gives alot of help to manufacturers on updating 5.0. LG, and MOTO gets official 5.0 in few weeks. HTC 90day promises. samsung beta build preview, situation is much better than last major update of 4.0

If you give me some of yours Time to sit on PC and check if anything is Ok, sure I will anyway you don't have to read my comment if it is too complicated or you don't understand cause no grammar. [emoji6]
Of course we will get 5.0 lol... the phone is still retailing at ££549.00 here in the UK, I came from LG G3, what does that say. Also, as a sidenote somebody said "they need to sell Note 4's" that has nothing to do with it, Note 4 doesn't launch with Lollipop.
EDIT: also, people please have some consideration for people whose first language is not English. Stop being grammar nazis if you wish to complain about someones grammar, help them with it. Don't be a **** about it.
