[Q] Quickest way to use tap and pay? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I'm sure I could figure this out by playing with my phone at some point of sale, but I figured that might annoy the cashier or other waiting customers.
What is the minimum manipulation of the phone to complete a Tap and Pay transaction?
Currently, I have unlokced my phone (pattern lock) and opened Google Wallet (passcode) and scanned my phone with the screen still on.
Is there less that I can do to have Tap and Pay function for payment at a point of sale?

You don't have to open up wallet. Your screen just has to be on and unlocked. Tapping will automatically open up wallet.

If it automatically opens Wallet, does it then require the passcode? If so, then it seems easier to enter the code before initiating the transaction, if not, then I might be a little concerned about the security of this method.
Thanks

So, are you saying that the Wallet app does need to be unlocked for Tap and Pay to work?
So, the most efficient way to work would be
1. Have timeout set to 15 minutes
2. Unlock Wallet while in line (up to 15 min before needing to pay)
3. When time to pay, just unlock phone and swipe.
This is what I did with previous iterations of the Google Wallet, I just wasn't sure if something had changed now that we had a direct connection to Tap and Pay through the OS.

That's my understanding. I don't have enough places around me that have the ability for me to tap n pay to test the theory.

I turned my wallet app to be always unlocked after using it at a McDonalds. The process seemed a bit to extensive for my taste.
*I pushed the power button
*Tapped my phone against the register
*It opened wallet
*I put In my pin
*tapped it again
And then It worked
Hopefully now after setting wallet to never lock I can just hit the power button, tap, and be done.

Samsung Reactivation lock bypass and disable should work on any samsung device

So today I have found a bypass I call it for the reactivation lock on i would say any samsung device that has the problem where the phone was reset with the reactivation lock on and you forgot the account info. Now you could use this to unlock a stolen phone i don't do this or recommend it cause if it were my phone I would still get it back even if you did get in. So you start out at the screen that tells you that your device has been locked and to enter samsung account info so what you wanna do is go and click on the forgot account info text. Once you do that enter your email and the image verification you must use a active samsung account email. Once you do that press and hold on your email address which should be blue and the options for cut copy ect should come up. What you want to do is hit the one in the right hand conner that should now drop you into Google now. Once in google now type open settings and you will want to open the settings app this way. Once in the settings app you want to go into your app mananger and go to the tab that says all apps and force close/disable samsung accounts. Next find all the Samsung sync adapters and force stop them then find the factory mode one and any one to do with setup and force stop them. (the reason I have so many to disable is because I don't know which one is the magic one that did it) . Now press your back button and click your toolbar if ur on a newer samsung device and enable the toolbar with 1 of the 5 apps being your settings app. This is in case something goes wrong so it's eaiser to get into setting again now. GO back to the setup screen run phone setup again and this should bypass the Samsung lock. Now once your in the phone have full access you can use the pull down bar and all go back into settings re-enable samsung accounts and reboot. Now you should be at the swipe screen to unlock the phone do so go back into settings where the check box for reactivation lock is and untick the check box this should now ask you to sign in with your Samsung account do so and when you do it should back you out to the setting so now untick the box again enter your password for the Samsung account you just setup and boom your phone is now free frome the activation lock and you can use it like you would any other phone and best of all u didn't trip a Knox counter. It was really shear luck I can upon this exploit and its because samsung can't disable Google now and copy paste functions on their keyboards so yeah a high school student just got around your Security measures come on samsung try to lock it up a little tighter next time. But yeah I will see if I can get a few screenshots up in a few days showing some steps but yeah hope this helps you who forgot your credentials like my dad did :silly: please don't use this to get into a phone thats stolen/ not yours cause that's why I was debating whether or not to post this. so yeah fell free to ask if u need me to clear something up and execuse my crappy punication I don't use it when typing very often. So yeah hope this helps and have a great day
Well, I tried getting all the things you are talking about but, I didn't get exactly where how and what I would rather wait for your screenshots to showed up, so I could have a look on what's going on over there. It often became hard to read out because of the white and black theme often results in dried up...
Yeah i understand what your saying I will see if I can relock the phone and take a few pics I still don't belive that I was able to bypass it just shows how insecure samsung made its security
Working only in few models but not working in some sets
Lolipop update bypass!

Recurrent PIN Requests

How often does the watch prompt you to enter the PIN code?
As a previous Apple Watch wearer, I'm used to a prompt when I take the watch off/on, but at least several times a day WHILE WEARING the Gear 3 I'm asked to re-enter the PIN. Anyone else experience this? Thanks

When you take the watch on and off. If you don't move your hand for a while let's say sleeping or sitting still for a certain amount of time it will prompt you to enter in the pin again. Also if you get it other than that it could be that the watch is to loose on your arms.

There are two options. It can be setup so the pin is required only for S Pay or for S Pay and screen unlock. If it's setup for the former, you should only have to enter your pin the first time you use S Pay each day, or after taking off the watch.
Check your settings and make sure:
Settings > security > screen lock > usage > PAYMENTS
Gear 3 PIN Prompt
Thanks so much! I probably never would have drilled in this far and discovered the nuance in these setttings!
Much appreciated.

Android pay without secure lock?

I'm wondering if there is any way to use Android pay without a secure lock screen. I currently have magisk and can get Android pay working, it's just that I hate having a secure lock screen.
Ideally, I'd like to keep the "swipe" lockscreen and have Android pay working.
If there's a better forum, let me know. Thanks!
The best I can say is using smart Lock. I use my citizen smart watch - as long as it's connected, no secure lock. You can use location, face matching, on body detection (so until it's still and flat on a table). All usable without root. The only thing that can stop this from working is an exchange policy from something like a work email account.

(Guide) Face (ID) unlock for Mi A1 (any other phone too) Android 7.x+ (without root)

Hi members of the xda developers.
Presenting you a guide where you can unlock your phone with your face just like iPhone X, OP5T etc.
Firstly you will need this app
AUTOINPUT
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autoinput
1.) Join the Beta for AutoInput
The new auto-unlocking functionality is currently a beta feature in developer João Dias' AutoInput app, so you'll need to join the beta program in order to try it. In order to join the Beta, you first need to join the Google+ Community for AutoApps. Simply tap on the "Join" button on the Google+ page to become a member of the community. After joining the G+ Community, head to the link below and make sure you're signed in with the same Google account you use on your Android device, then tap the "Become a Tester" button.
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.joaomgcd.autoinput
2.) Download the Newest AutoInput Beta
Next, head over to the Google Play Store and install the latest version of the AutoInput app. You might need to wait up to 30 minutes after joining the beta program before the newest version will be available, so if the steps below don't work, check back on the Play Store for an update. You may notice that this app is actually a Tasker plug-in, but that isn't important here and we do not need Tasker to complete this hack.
3.) Start a Free Trial or Buy the Pro Version
In order to access all of the features in AutoInput, you will need to start a 7-day free trial of the app by tapping on "Start Trial." Alternatively, you can purchase the full version. The free trial is a good idea if you're not sure you will use the app on a long-term basis. If you do enjoy modding your phone regularly, AutoInput Pro can be purchased for only $1.99 and is an excellent value for use with Tasker.
4.) Activate the Accessibility Service in AutoInput
Note: This step is only required for those on Android Nougat, it is not needed in Oreo.
Like many apps that enable impressive hacks, AutoInput requires access to Accessibility Services to do its magic. When you open the app for the first time, you will notice a large block of red text prompting you to enable this needed service. Tapping on this dialog box will take you into Accessibility Services in your Settings menu. Scroll down to "AutoInput" and tap the toggle to enable it. Tap the back button a few times on your device to get back inside the AutoInput app.
5.) Enable 'Auto Dismiss Keyguard' in AutoInput
After enabling AutoInput in Accessibility Services, you will notice that the previous dialog box of red text in the app is gone. Below the new dialog box indicating accessibility is enabled, you will notice an option that says "Auto Dismiss Keyguard". Tap the toggle to enable this feature.
6.) Set a Trusted Face in Smart Lock
Finally, you're ready to set up your face unlock and give it a try. Head to Settings –> Security (or "Security and Location" on newer phones), then tap on "Smart Lock". From here you will need to enter your current PIN or pattern, if you have one.
After this is completed you, will see several options to use with the Smart Lock service. Tap on "Trusted Face" and follow the prompts to scan your face. You can improve the recognition by repeating the process in a different lighting condition, or from a different angle.
7.) Unlock Your Phone with Your Face
After you're satisfied with the scan, head back to your lock screen and test out your automatic face unlock. Like the OnePlus 5T, you still have to wake your phone to unlock it, but now, as soon as your device "sees" your face, you'll be taken directly to your home screen. In other words, just click your power button, look at your phone, then it will automatically unlock! We should note here that the dismiss keyguard feature works with any of the Smart Lock options, not just Trusted Face. This means your phone will automatically unlock when using a trusted location or trusted device as well.
While it may seem like quite a few steps, the actual process only takes a few minutes, as seen in our tutorial video above. One important note here is that this method is likely a bit less secure than the actual implementation found on the 5T. Overall, we've found that this method makes it much easier to use face unlock on Android phones that don't have the feature built in. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions and tell me how the new feature is working for you!

Appreciate this guide but... In our phone we have face unlock
Security> smart lock> trusted face
Setup ur face n try unlocking its not as accurate as flagship but yeah does the work ?
With this app, this will do auto unlock, no need to swipe from lockscreen. There are people on Nougat ROMs who need this app to enable it in accessability settings.

Unlock on wrist option vanished?

Hey all,
There was an option to keep the watch unlocked when it was the wrist but I can't find it anymore and it is annoying to have to manually unlock all the time.
Did this option vanish for all people? I guess it was taken away in the last update.
I am on version
March security patch / Wear 1.5
Build Number 0WDD.180215.018

Not sure about a specific option, but mine doesn't do that. Maybe because I enabled always on display. That's under developer options.
Yes there was a specific option that has totally vanished.

I have always on option under display settings then under gestures tilt to wake, touch to wake, wrist gestures.
You can also change settings in Wear OS on phone

It's not tilt to wake or gestures that is now removed from the software, it's about the unlock.
There was an option to keep the watch unlocked when it was on the wrist so that the pin only needed to be input when you were not wearing / removed from arm and no heartrate detected.

This is crazy, now my watch asks for PIN even after 15mins since I used it. Can't use it normally
Seems that I need to ask Amazon for refund if this will work lie this.
The pin can be turned off but then it leaves the watch open if you lose it. In my case I find it accidentally does stuff while I am asleep or my daughter messes it up.

i have found that disabling the PIN also disables Google Pay. and even after re-enabling it, you have to set it up all over again.
from my understanding, the watch knows when it is on your wrist, so maybe you need to tighten the strap or check the heart rate monitor to always on.

Hmm, maybe when enabled Google Pay it removed the option.
I'll try disabling google pay and see if the option comes back - I can't use it in Germany anyway, I only want to use GPay when I am back in UK.
