Looking at my battery stats, it shows that my WiFi is on the entire time but my quick settings and the regular settings menu both have WiFi off. I also turned off WiFi in the location settings but it didn't have any effect. It's currently my number 2 battery eating process besides screen. Any ideas?
Go to wifi and then click the 3 little dots at the bottom right and click advanced. Uncheck the option that says scanning always available.

All of a sudden Wifi turns itself on. Ironically it just turned on. Happens like 2-3 times a day. Even at night. WTF?

Settings - More settings under wireless and networks - mobile networks - last option. It's this checked?

Sorry I should have said that I'm on Verizon, which doesn't have that setting.

Verizon has the same thing. It's in a different place. Go to settings, Wi-Fi, and click advanced. You will see auto connect as the first option.

Yes Ok same option basically I guess, different location. But it's not checked. I have checked that let it run for a bit then unchecked and still wifi starts randomly.

No, my fault. I forgot I'm in the Verizon forum, you shouldn't have to specify lol.

Try *#6335623# on your phone pad to turn the WiFi notification to off.
See if that works?

Bump again. Unfortunately I got the OTA this week. And even that didn't fix the WiFi turning itself on issue. I still can't find a pattern.

What you guys are doing is turning off WIFI Popup Notification. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776683
You need to also turn off Wifi Reminder if you have not done so already.
•You will need root
•You will need a SQLite editor
(Here's a link to a free one if you need it) http://code.google.com/p/xdroidx/dow...20Editor-9.apk
1.Open Settings Storage > db > secure
2.Search for “wifi_networks_available_notification_on” (Sometimes will be a different line numbers see attached)
3.Edit that record to read a value of 0 < (that's a ZERO)
4.Reboot your phone
This worked for me.. I did this to my phone on day one.:good:
Hope this helps

Anyone else experiencing their N5 in a lot of wake time? My phones been on only 5 hours, but theres a sh*t ton of awake in blue in my battery stats. Would better battery stats be able to identify this better?
Anyone else with a similiar experience?
have you got Wi-Fi set to constantly scan?

I was about to upload my screen shots into the battery thread when I realized that my WiFi had been used. But it's been manually turned off since the day I got the phone as you can see. You can check the screen shots. Any one have any ideas?

You have to go into the wifi settings and uncheck the always scan. Its under the advanced wifi settings.
Settings, wifi, advanced, "scanning always available" makes your wifi available for location purposes even if you have it "off" in settings. Do you have this box checked?
Go into WiFi settings and then go to advanced settings and disable "Scanning always available".

Strange, my always scan is off on my n4 and WiFi had been off all day at work. When I got home you could see where it had been on briefly throughout the day, not to concerned but I suspect always scan isn't being disabled fully when it's unchecked?

I had this exact same issue and was going to post on this 'bug'. It can really drain your battery over night! Luckily, unchecking the 'always on' feature under Advanced really did make the timer stop ticking.
Tell me about it. noticed this on 4.3 - its a battery killer
when you first login it says wifi will be scanned and used to better determine location even when off ... I clicked that permission off in my initial loading of the phone...curious if that is the issue?
Anyone have a problem were the music is playing but cant hear it sometimes ?
Mine has the same issue no matter what settings I use.

I have selected the option "Never" in the "Keep WiFi on during sleep" but still my battery history shows a long blue line under "Wifi" regaurdless of the "Screen On" bar.
I tried turning off the "Scan always Available" option too, but the problem still exists.
I problem persists in all the 4.4.2 ROMs I have used, including stock.
Is this a bug? or did I miss something?
