Wifi problems can't figure it out ideas would be much appreciated

I'm on the skyrocket and I have ran just about every ROM on here at some point and a while back my wifi started acting up randomly. By acting up I mean it would shut off and either attempt to turn on and end up in error or it would turn on after much longer than normal and start scanning but never finding any network then turning wifi back off. I tried all the usual methods of fixing things wipe cache and dalvik reboot, some times would work. Reinstall ROM, kernal, modem...works every time...for a while. Now on ics thought everything was ok then it happened out of no where like always... No wifi. Upgraded to mhx superlite 4.0 and hoping for the best. Thanks in advance

Do you have logging enabled on your router? Seeing any logs that are happening while the router is on/the phone isn't connecting could be useful
I do not but I'll have it ready for next time my wifi stops again could be today could be a week it's very random

Actually three only logs I could find on my router were "event logs" and nothing showed up from my phone when it was last having wifi problems

darkside x 2 > odin stock > odin cwm > darkside > favourite rom + kernel. If that doesn't fix it u have a hardware problem
I've been trying to avoid Odin a I'm not very familiar with it I've only used it once or twice but never in my skyrocket but if this problem doesn't stopthat's my last option I believe... I've been hoping it's not hardware but we will see

Odin CWM?
Hi, I'm facing wifi issues as well. I'm a very new android user. I'm running SKY ICS and it was running great until this morning. I have lost wifi. Nothing has changed with my phone to explain this change in behavior.
Behavior:
Wifi is turned off.
I go in to turn it on, it will show the "turning on..." message in settings and will then show checked. Wi-Fi networks will then show "Scanning" and then wi-fi shuts off.
I had Wefi Pro installed and uninstalled it thinking that app may have caused a problem, but the behavior persists.
I have found Darkside and Odin via search, but can't find Odin CWM. Can someone provide a link? Thanks!

I've noticed that my wifi issues are associated with Juice Defender. It works good for a while then starts acting up. I tweek it. It runs better then acts up. Then I reflash and start over. Need something other than Juice Defender. I suppose I could probably do the same power saving actions with Tasker... but it's more work than I feel like doing.

I use juice defender and never had a problem. Check the wifi settig inside the juice defender profile that's responsible for re trying wifi connection if it fails. That's probably what's set to a high number.
Also, for the OP... Do you have any other wifi devices on your network that behave this way? And do you use juice defender as well?

It was only my phone that acts up my fiancé's phone never has a problem neither do my lap tops but I had found that I could toggle my data, Bluetooth, and GPS on and off a few times and sometimes reboot and wifi would start working again but i'm on a brand new skyrocket now cause I kinda bricked my first one the other day...haven't had a problem with this one yet but I haven't even rooted it yet either so we will see how it goes later on

Have you tried a different access point? If it still has issues I'd take it back.

[Q] No mobile signal on AOKP?

Hey guys!
I recently flashed AOKP, but as my device turn on, i enter my pin code, but i still don't have signal. The signal meter in the upper right corner is blank, and it says "no service" on the notification dropdown. It works on every rom but not AOKP. Does anybody know a solution?

Check ROM control and look in power saving options, see if it is set to disable network at any time. Mine was set to disable after screen was off for a minute, however it kept disableing my network during active times! Once I disabled power saving option it never shut off again. But with it on, my network was getting shut off over and over during
Activity. This could be your issue. I could not figure out what kept causing my network fail, then I looked into that. That was causing my issue. Hope this helps you! Hopefully thats the reason for your issue. Take a look and see. Best of luck!

WiFi bug? On/off

I was about to upload my screen shots into the battery thread when I realized that my WiFi had been used. But it's been manually turned off since the day I got the phone as you can see. You can check the screen shots. Any one have any ideas?

You have to go into the wifi settings and uncheck the always scan. Its under the advanced wifi settings.
Settings, wifi, advanced, "scanning always available" makes your wifi available for location purposes even if you have it "off" in settings. Do you have this box checked?
Go into WiFi settings and then go to advanced settings and disable "Scanning always available".

Thanks I will try it out I think that is a pointless feature.

Strange, my always scan is off on my n4 and WiFi had been off all day at work. When I got home you could see where it had been on briefly throughout the day, not to concerned but I suspect always scan isn't being disabled fully when it's unchecked?

I had this exact same issue and was going to post on this 'bug'. It can really drain your battery over night! Luckily, unchecking the 'always on' feature under Advanced really did make the timer stop ticking.
Tell me about it. noticed this on 4.3 - its a battery killer
when you first login it says wifi will be scanned and used to better determine location even when off ... I clicked that permission off in my initial loading of the phone...curious if that is the issue?
Anyone have a problem were the music is playing but cant hear it sometimes ?
Mine has the same issue no matter what settings I use.

[Q] Time one hour in the future

Hey everyone I am having an issue that at random times of the day my clock will be an hour ahead of the real time.
I am in the same time zone constantly throughout the day FYI.
Here is what I have tried so far:
Factory reset
Changing the time on my router to the right time zone.
Airplane mode or reboot is the only thing that works momentarily.
I am on sprint.
Thanks
Think McFly, think!

Thanks for the effort , but I have it set to use network provided time. I guess I can just switch it to manual but I never have had to do that in the past.

You're phone is a time machine!
uncheck
Unchecked the network thing then select your time zone. Worked for me

That's what I ended up doing but it's just weird I have never had to do it on any other phone.

For what it's worth I have had to do this before in another phone so you aren't alone.

I have never been able to set automatic time and date settings. They have always been wrong for me. No harm has been done over the years from having them set manually.

Battery stats showing WiFi is on when it's turned off

Looking at my battery stats, it shows that my WiFi is on the entire time but my quick settings and the regular settings menu both have WiFi off. I also turned off WiFi in the location settings but it didn't have any effect. It's currently my number 2 battery eating process besides screen. Any ideas?
Go to wifi and then click the 3 little dots at the bottom right and click advanced. Uncheck the option that says scanning always available.
