Hi guys, I installed CleanRom 7.0 on my HTC One X yesterday, and it has restarted by itself 2 times now, I know there was a bug with CleanROM 6.5 that if you had wireless activated, this COULD happen (not too often though), but with this new release (7.0) I didn't even have the wireless on and still the phone restarted.
Do you guys know what could be the problem?
Thanks
Ha, no seriously, do you guys keep posting this question as a joke?
Its been asked and answered so many times, I assume this has to be the case.
To be nice, just read the last page or so of posts on the CleanROM thread (which I always do anyway, whenever I install any new ROM), and you will find the answer.

To be completely honest, I could not find the exact same problem for my phone and the ROM that I am using in any forum, but if this has been asked and answered a lot of times, could you tell me the answer once again so I can fix this problem?
Thanks
How could you not find the answer? You literally can not go through any more than a few pages in the Cleanrom thread without finding this issue (and the fix) reported. Redpoint even told you exactly where to look in his post, in the time it took you to ask him for the answer again you could have found it yourself. One of the most important rules of XDA is to search before posting. This thread is yet another one to add to the ever growing, ridiculous stack of unnecessary threads which would have been avoided if the OP simply searched properly.

Read my previous response again. I think I edited it while you were typing your reply.
It will tell you exactly where to find your answer.

Don't know why you get so mad... as the other guy said in the post below, he EDITED his previous post while I was posting my reply, after I read his edit, I went and search for the problem, which I found it exactly where he told me, so now it seems that my phone is working again.
Anyway, thanks for you answers, I did manage to fix my phone with your replies...
I didn't get mad. The point was that you can't have searched very hard because as I said the answer is plastered all over every single Sense 5 ROM thread in this forum. Even without Redpoint's directions it should have been easy to find. The point is to do the searching before the posting, as I said it's part of the rules and is your responsibility as a member of XDA.

I agree with all timmaaa said. I was feeling charitable when telling the OP exactly where to find the answer. Really, it does no good for us lead folks by the nose to the answers that they could have easily found themselves.
There is a wealth of info for the taking on XDA, without folks having to ask the same questions over and over.

You joined this site to ask that one question? There was seriously nothing better on your mind than to come in here and ask this single question. Did you bother to do a Google search or even a forum search to see if maybe, just maybe this question has been answered several times before?
No, you didn't. You came in here hoping someone would do all the work for you. You aren't starting off your time here very well. Next time, do everyone a favor and either read the forum rules first, or don't bother posting anything.

Can someone who isn't a bitter 30-year old virgin answer me this, since I can't find a proper answer anywhere else. This is the Q&A section, right?
Depends on the device. Porting OS's is difficult to say the least.
If you look at the HTC HD2 forums, you will see that the devs there have managed it.
All in all, don't get your hopes up for an easy way to get WP7 on your Android, in most cases, it is actually impossible.

Now why would I bother to read, search, or try to post in the correct forum when I could simply click "new thread" and type in whatever question I have, and get the answers from an entire community of people? Seems much easier to have everyone else do the work for me. Right?

So much for XDA being a place to learn. Guess if you don't already know you're on you're own! Good attitude guys!
To answer the OP, CM 7.1 was recently released out of release candidate status. The charge however is not on the supported list yet. There's still a lot of work to be done before it's ready to be loaded on anyone's phone. Hang in there. There's a good amount of other ROM's currently available for the Charge though that are worth looking into. (Humblecomb, GummyCharged, DCTQ to name a few)

There are literally two new threads about this a week. You don't even have to search. Just look in the Q&A forum and click back one or twice. Hell...you don't even have to do that right now. There's one started two days ago that is the first non-sticky post on the first page as I type this.
Asking questions is fine, but we have community guidelines, FAQ's, and search buttons for a reason.
The first response answered the question. (And mentioned the fact that this is the wrong forum for Q&A)
Maybe all the mini-mods should just hit the report button and let the real moderators do their job instead of posting a bunch of useless crap. If you don't want to see the useless posts maybe replying and putting them back at the top of the forum is not such a good idea.
Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum

Last time I checked cm7 is development just about everything is a question posted on here and if I knew what to search for I would didn't know people got their panties all in a bunch over the wrong forum topic but I appreciate the response that was helpful Thanx a lot

I was in agreement that most of the responses were uncalled for until the OP responded. It's difficult to feel bad when that attitude is taken towards people that actually contribute to the forum.

CM7 is development. Your question about CM7 is not development. Your question is a question. If you would like to know what you should type in the search to find out about CM7, first try "CM7". I am sorry the developers and mods who spend their time making our phones awesome and maintaining the forums were not nicer to you when you posted a question in the development forum after not reading a single forum guideline. I'm sure they're sorry. Hope this helped.

Maybe I was rude, but I went and typed in CM7 in the search box for just the DROID Charge forums (all of them) and came up with 12 topics. Searching for cyanogenmod came up with 5 topics. I could also search either of those items with droid charge added to them in Google, Yahoo, or Bing, and end up with the most relevant info being on the first page of results too. Seeing that any one of those options would have taken less time than it took you to create this thread, which was initially in the incorrect forum, maybe you can see why people responded the way they did. Why should anyone else put forth any effort when you couldn't take 30 seconds to even begin to search on your own?
All questions like this should automatically spam the OP with PMs of LMGTFY links.
It's really quite ridiculous.
Honestly, if you're not smart enough to form a relatively basic search like so many people have laid out here in this and other related threads (oh so many threads), then you really shouldn't be attempting to do something so complicated as loading unsupported OS builds onto your phone.
ive decided to start a treat for all those noobs that cant search or has never heard of a search engine, from petty stuff to more major things. Ask away!
That is a good idea in theory, but if they can't search, how are they going to this this thread tomorrow if it isnt bumped often? Have the same problem with my noob guide.. if they can't search, then they are going to start another thread, and all the coverall posts just get buried under new single question posts

Ok, here is a question;
Instead of starting a new thread lol
I need to edit unix-friendly files (i.e. updater-scripts and xml files), what is the 'best' (see your recommended) unix-friendly text-editor for Android?
Also, would like to package the files to be flashed in CWM without leaving the Android environment (could do it in Ubuntu if I set up a dual boot but would like to do it natively in Android). SO, what is the best method of creating flashable zip files from the TF?
(This is a question for anyone who can answer not just to the OP necessarily)
P.S. If this thread is to be of any use, you will have to answer questions posted here in a timely fashion as well, otherwise impatient noobs waiting on an answer will post their question in a new thread anyways lol
The 4 hours I've been waiting on a reply to my question would have been a dealbreaker for a noob
Searching.....

The problem comes up when searching for certain things.....for instance when I was trying to figure out why the Asus App Backup wasn't working. Try searching for that (without the benefit of Boolean operators) in the transformer forum. It selects every post with "Asus", every post with "App", and every post with "Backup". I used to train people on how to search for stuff in support databases, and in Microsoft Technet, so I don't consider myself a noob, and trust...I do a fair share of searching before I ever ask a question. Just sayin'...........

Use google search and add asus transformer to whatever you are looking for. I never use the search inside xda because its crap. XDA is supposed to be a developers site not product support.
I understand the frustration trying to find something but as of right now there are 3 threads on the first page of Q&A basically wanting the same info. I'm not directing this at you but about 80% of the people posting here want to be spoon fed everything. They think because they searched once and opened 1 link and the answer wasn't there that the answer can't be found. When you can open a thread and see the same question asked and answered 3 or 4 times in 10 posts (and was likely answered in the OP) you can tell people don't even read much less search. And it doesn't help the situation when some mods just ignore their own rules and continue to allow the same thing to be posted over and over or allow threads to go off topic. I tried flaming people but that got me temp banned and I tried reporting posts but that got me temp banned as well.(I reported the same thread for on going flame war and got a temp ban for reporting the same repeatedly)
XDA is either gonna clean up threads or continue to drive off devs who are tired of being tech support for n00bs who have to be spoon fed every detail. My favorite question that is asked is "If i'm coming from rom A to your rom do I need to wipe?". Take the time and make a backup and do whatever you want but in general every rom I've every flashed has asked that you wipe when coming from another rom.
Sorry.....rant over. I'm guessing this post will be edited and I will recieve some more ban points

EDIT: To the OP. Thanks for trying but its doomed to failure. You could sticky a post that said "This thread will answer all questions" and people would ignore it and post a new thread asking a question answered in the stickied thread

No you need to write 7 useful posts, try helping people in the QandA section etc.
This is how it is, there a very good reasons behind these rules and this thread will likely be closed so just move on and help others.

Okay, just let me think about this for a while... You are suggesting that a noob that has a problem should first solve some other problems and then he is allowed to solve his own problem?
Hm, since when is XDA only for the selected?
I have to agree with topic-starter.
I read much info before I even registered. I rooted my phone with the various threads, but then you have a problem/bug, and you can't address it in the dev-thread.
If some-one asks why there is a 10post limit, everybody says, help other people in the q&A topic.
As a very beginner in rooting/change rom's, you just can't help other people with much more complicated questions.
I'm on many forums, and usually such rule only results in more un-usefull spamming.
I don't have a huge problem with that. But I had a problem with a ROM, and instead of just asking it in the dev-section, I had to search a couple of hours in many threads to find a solution.

The key there is that you found the answer yourself after searching for a couple of hours. That is how people learn - it's how I learnt how to root, S-Off etc my HTC DS - by reading and trying to understand.
The Dev section is NOT the place for questions. It is NOT the place for questions. It is NOT the place for questions. Get the idea? The Dev section is for Development - genuine bug reporting and discussion by the guys who develop and test the ROMs.
I don't think 10 posts is enough. I personally feel that the Dev section should be by invite only. Once somebody has proved that they are able to abide by the rules of XDA and contribute in a meaningful manner then the Devs can invite them to join if they feel so inclined.

Well two things here, no If you have a problem you need solving you post it in the Q&A section in the first place..as this is where questions go Development threads are for development.
And XDA is and always has been about the developers, about developers sharing there work.
Yes, great... So developers have time to test other developers work? I would say that all the wannabe testers have hard time to feedback developers. They use emails. Developers say: use forum, it's great. And the usual answer is: I'm not over the limit yet.
I flash often, I test often. I find bugs often. I read ALOT. And when I find something no one has found yet.... I have to wait until an "experienced noob" (you don't really think number of posts indicate how experienced a guy is...) will write a bug report.
I got tired of waiting today and tried to step ahead but no... I have to make more comments to prove I'm worthy to speak with the DEV's... I'm no flamer and don't take this post like that but...
Posting a question in Q&A and hoping that one guy who might have my solution will answer... Maybe PM him and when he answers I will keep the solution to myself. Nah, too simple... XDA is for developers and developers always rely on people who test their night builds. Don't keep DEV's alone up there in the Ivory tower
PS: I would never dare to ask a question that was already answered here...
Yeah whats up with that
I have to have ten post before i can post my issue on the rom i downloaded that kinda bricked my phone. baha... i am swolt.. and to top it off i have to wait 5 minutes between post i guess it sucks to be a new user; but i am glad to be a part of the XDA forum team since i have been flashing every week for the past year or so... i joined after i ran into a problem go figure...

Its a case of thats just how it is, many devs have started threads in the general subsections for talking about the ROMs to reduce the issue.
The big reason for the limit is simple, with out it the dev section gets flooded with question threads, and general chit chat or basic questions which have been answered a million times end up in dev threads which should be kept clean for real feedback to been seen by the devs.
I know it sucks but it works, 10 posts is nothing, you will find if you look across the forum there will be plenty of threads you can give input to (For example there are loads of "which do you like more" type threads) which require no technical skill. You will very quickly get past the ten posts and move on

I recently had a problem finding a Rom on the site. I kept going to all the pages and nothing I did worked when I tried to bring up the Rom on my computer. I asked in the section Galaxy Nexus for Verizon. Is there an update to my Rom. Instead of getting an answer I got things like can't you read huh. I then asked a direct yes or no and got a Yes Man answer. I tried to click on the title Rom and it kept taking me to another forum page and nothing there showed the answer.
After several nasty you got be kidding stuff. I went to my phone and went on the site from my phone. When I clicked on the title Rom on the page it took me to the site where the download was. My browser on my computer was not working with the site.
If someone would have said that or said something like did you try clicking on the title using another browser it would have been nicer than all the nasty remarks I got.
I am new to this and I do not spend a lot of time reading the site as I am very busy working and raising a family. I love having the site and I love using the Rom's for my phones. I wish people would be nicer and not so arrogant.

Don't take this the wrong way. I honestly peruse as much as I can in the morning and then try to respond to what I can during the day. But 99% of the time I run out of time to reply so it's far more reading than typing.
If left on your own the other thing you can try to do is refine your search criteria. Try to get as specific as possible and include the device name or model. This may get you closer to the answer you're looking for as well.

Root lucid 1 was posted in the 'General' forum, not in Questions & Answers.
Lg lucid problems with fpse was posted correctly in the Q&A forum. However, there is no forum dedicated to this device, there is likely to be very little development for, or knowledge of, it as a result. Also, this post appears to be asking about ways to circumvent licence checks on a Playstation emulator - XDA does not exist to support any form of piracy, and you would be much better off asking these sort of questions somewhere else such as the emuparadise forums instead.
People aren't deliberately ignoring you but many, like me, will skim through the threads, click on anything that sounds unusual, and help if they can - if they can't that is another person who has viewed your thread, and with over 5 Million members that will happen quite frequently.
I think looking at the post and not replying isn't such a big deal, but i have been in the same situation where someone has time to type a condescending reply to try to make the person feel like crap, but not enough time to help with the answer except to say its in one or more of the 80 pages of the current thread.
so when I see a question that has been answered before and I know the answer I sometimes just takes the 30-45 seconds to quickly answer the question without bothering to point out that its been answered before.

And before saying the typical use the search function, have you guys actually tried it for specific answers? I really don't think you have.
It will take you to the right thread but not the right page. So its really pretty much useless.

It isn't perfect, but it's not that bad. Also, using Google to do the search and starting the search with
Code:
site:forum.xda-developers.com
will give a much more precise and accurate search result.
That info may come in very handy in the future. Thanks.

XDA is a Developers community, not a Tech Support Helpdesk. We are not here to teach you the basics of how to use your computer.
The suggestion of testing in another browser is something you should do by default if a website doesn't work properly.
We're happy to help newcomers, but there is a limit to every person's patience. This limit usually lies at the point where people show up on an advanced tech community and don't even know how to properly use bloody Google.com. And because this happens at least 40 times a day, that patience is stretched very thin for most.

The gear icon behind the search bar is Advanced Search. There you can select Posts for the result as opposed to threads. (bottom left.) This will list the individual posts.
And if you're in a thread, above the thread is another search bar: Search in this thread. This will show all the posts in that thread with the keywords you type in there.
It's not useless if you look for more than 3 seconds
I have used it lots if times, thanks.

Actually I've used advanced search lots without much luck. I don't see the search at top of the thread though, I'm in the app. Is it just on desktop site?

You guys must remember,we all cant be jolly all the time, developers have jobs and families also, besides doing this for you guys for free, hours and hours and days, maybe weeks go by while trying to get the bugs out of a rom that everyone wants, while in the meantime, the guys boss or ole lady is yelling at them to get their ducks in a row and quit slacking, when all their trying to do is contribute to the community and make you happy, soo when a developer or some other forum contributor doesnt answer your question right away, its not you.Just be patient someone will eventually come along and answer it,also you need to remember alot of questions that are asked, can easily be google or searched here on the forum and you will find the answer yourself or figure it out on your own.Your right though at the same time,we shouldnt be grumpy towards people trying to fix something or learn.
