[Q] enabling s-off on HTC One X - General Questions and Answers

I have been messing with my HTC One X trying to load a custom ROM without much success. I did manage to brick the phone upgrading the HBOOT version. This was done over a year ago and i've stated messing with it again. So far I have managed to flash a custom recovery, flash the boot.img and zip for the Maximus HD ROM. I can now boot the phone into Android again, however it will not recognise a SIM card. Can anyone help me get back to a stock or working ROM
I suspect i need to be able to enable S-OFF and/or change the CID.
I have tried the 'Moonshine' method to switch S-OFF however this just fails with an error
I have tried the fastboot oem writecid 11111111 and this fails with a FAILED (status read failed (Too many links)) message
The information about the phone is:
C:\android-adb>fastboot getvar all

[Q] XE bootloop after installing RUU, cannot downgrade or unlock bootloader or S-OFF

Hello!
This is a little complicated. I have an XE and I wanted to upgrade from 2.3 (HBOOT 1.18). I tried to S-OFF first with revolutionary, but it didn't work (not even with tacoroot). Then I wanted to unlock the bootloader with the HTCDev method, I have the Unlock_code, uploaded it with fastboot and then selected yes. The phone reboots but it's still LOCKED. I repeated a few times, but no success.
I thought, OK the stock ROM by HTC is enough. I installed 4.0 with the newest RUU (HBOOT 1.29). This is where the bad things started. The installer worked well, but I couldn't start my phone anymore. It is stucked in bootloop. I tried to downgrade (with RUU and flashing zip with fastboot), no success.
So: S-ON, locked bootloader, bootloop... what could I do? Oh and when I plug in the USB cable, the phone turns on by itself.
Please help! Thank you!

I tried this many times with multiple versions. I can't downgrade and with v3.33 I have the described problem

[Q]Big problem with DS. Can't flash any RUU and ROM.

Hello!
I have a big problem with my HTC Desire S. This is all information about my phone:
c:\downsaga>fastboot getvar all

At this moment, the phone does not start. Still see T-Mobile Logo. Nowhere is the software that needs RUU T-Mobile PL version such as above. Any other RUU doesn't work. ANY. I downloaded "RUU_Saga_TMO_PL_1.47.118.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_206156_signed", but this also don't work because it's older than I have.
I tried to do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919, but stops at this point: Modifying the version of your phone. I can't do this: Connect the phone using USB cable using "Charge ONLY" and USB Debugging is ON, because my phone doesn't start up. And everything stops at this point: "adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version". I see information: "There is no such direction". Anyone Can help me? In this moment I can't do anything and flash any RUU or any ROM. I can't start up my phone.
Take your IMEI number out off that straight away unless you want your phone being cloned!

so you mean that you already did it unlocking your bootloader then already installing custom recovery like 4ext or CMW right..?
if so...you can installing any custom rom (just choice rooted stock rom or closely like stock rom but already rooted) and flashing boot.img too after that (no needed to flashing boot.img again if you already using 4ext recovery and enabling smartflash from there)..
after your phone back booting normal again..then you can continued step to downgrade process for gaining s-off..that's just if you needed it..
hope this can help..
It's working Many many thanks!!!

[Q] HELP !!! urgent, i'm phoneless !

i recently bought an htc one xl, worked fine, but was stuck on Android 4.2.2 and didn't receive any updates anymore.... long story short, its now stuck and i can't flash any ROM on it.
recovery works and fastboot does work too, the only problem it seems that the internal memory is corrupt.
when i try to install a ROM i receive the error message "unable to mount /system" .... and other directories. using ADB sideload doesn't change anything and the problem remains.
i tried flashing different recoveries but still the same problem.

Hello.
I would like to up stock ROM to Android v. 4.4.4 KitKat but now I can't even load any system in my HTC One S (S4) xD.
Yes, yes I do it properly - Debugging USB, Unlock, recovery twrd, perm rooted (I used One_S_All-In-One_Kit_v3.5)
After that I've tried to instal CM_12.2; Viper or Maximus. Every time I can only see logo HTC after reboot.
Moreover, I can't instal stock RUU becouse there is an error:
[131] error client identyfication
Ruu Ver. I use: RUU_Ville_U_JB_45_S_HTC_Europe_3.16.401.8_Radio_1.11.50.05.28_10.27.50.08L_release_301814_signed_2_4.exe
I would like to point - before installation RUU I write in ADB: FASTBOOT OEM LOCK. Then I see something like that:
D:\ADB>fastboot oem lock
...
(bootloader) Lock successfully...
(bootloader) TZ_HTC_SVC_DISABLE ret = 134086000 (0x7FDFD70)
FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
finished. total time: 0.936s
Nevertheless, I see RELOCKED im bootloader.
I didn't do S-OFF and now is too late i think
Sorry for my poor English. Help pls.
