I've seen this asked in other threads but not so far related to the Nexus 5. I'm thinking getting this app working on a non-moto device such as the Nexus 5 should be more possible than ever because of the dedicated core in the Snapdragon 800. Am I wrong?
EDIT: Actually it's right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516064&highlight=touchless+control
You're on the right track, OP. The hardware is there, the software is not. I don't think it would be "too" difficult to port it from a moto device.

The snapdragon 800 is not always listening like the x8 chip. Is is listening while the unit is on. It is possible but it would be plenty of work and will go through battery quite heavily.

Incorrect - it has a low-power Core similar to the x8 called 'Snapdragon Voice Activation' - we will need to have our Kernel/ROM gurus get on it once their devices arrive.

Is it possible to overlook and use Bluetooth device? I thought a kernel was to be released that would allow 1.2 ghz overclock and Bluetooth.

Nexus S already has Bluetooth (it is hardware not software). Look for buglesspete GPA18, or go to http://download.peteralfonso.com/ Crespo Nightlies are for GSM(T-Mobile) and Crespo4g is for CDMA (sprint). This rom does overclocking
What I meant was my phone reboots when overclocked. Is there a software fix? Or is this strictly a hardware issue?

do it
Give the rom I suggested a try, it comes with a kernel. Do a nandroid backup and a full wipe before installing it
Will test. I will overclock to 1.2ghz and use Bluetooth audio in car to test. Hopefully I can get through more than 2 songs before a reboot. Or better yet no reboot at all.

is it reboot it means that your phone cannot handle the extra MHz with the given voltage, try to increase voltage a bit.
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. Set all voltages up by one increment on sliders. Bluetooth running flawless for three songs now.

This is not the Equivalent of "Smart Stay" but rather the PopUp Video feature on the SGSIII.
Smart Stay is the feature that uses the front-facing camera to detect if their is a face over the phone. If there is, it overrides the default screen dimming timer and keeps the screen lit.
I'm sure there is someone in the rooting/porting community working on porting this to other devices, but PopUp video, which has been available via the app you linked to and even more popularly Stick It! and OverSkreen https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myboyfriendisageek.stickit has been around for awhile now.
Saw this great app
Get all of the features of Google Now, from anywhere on your phone, simply say "Okay Google" or wave your hand to activate.
What does this mean? Google Now becomes more conversational as after a search just say "Okay Google" to start a new one. And even better get the answers to your questions while your hands are tied, or when you're on the couch, or in the car.

Try another app called "Utter!"

This app is like a port of feature found in moto X. always on mic. and accessing google now..
Cool. Utter seems to be similar too
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Utter is fantastic, I use it as a hands free when I am driving
How does either of these affect the battery? I know the Moto X has the X8 with the language processor which I'm guessing reduces the cpu load needed to keep the mic listening.
Any noticeable changes on your battery life?
Wow utter makes awesome job at first glance. But needs updates. Isn't even able to write sms...

Hello,
Does someone know if it is possible to mirror my phones screen to my TV ?
Its a Samsung UE40F6400
It had WiFi, and its a smart TV.
When i duplicate screen under Display its connected, and then my TV says connection is stopped.
Running stock rom, Faux kernel 03B06
Anyone?
Same thing happens to me. I have a Sony Smart tv with miracast but I can't get my Nexus 5 or my Galaxy S3 to mirror. I'm getting frustrated.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Miracast is absolute utter garbage technology. Its seriously one of the ****tiest standards ever to grace mobile computing, mostly because there just is no standard. It can work with one device and then not work with another, even though everything is miracast enabled. Its probably not worth your time trying to figure out, because even when you do its frustratingly awful sometimes. I got it working finally on my nexus 4 and 7, but even when the phone or tablet was within a foot of the damn miracast receiver it would still lag and lose connection while playing video.

Its not that bad. with the latest drivers its actually pretty stable with everything I have thrown at it. note 8, yoga2, venue 8 pro, nexus 5 and gs4.
to answer the op samsung makes it so only samsung devices can mirror with their tvs. hopefully they change this soon but until then you need to buy a ptv3000 or similar.
What does it check, could it work if i change build.prop or something else?
Any developer know how to get allshare on Nexus 5?
Or how to fake my phone to connect it to the TV with wirekess display?
Still looking.
Anyone ?

My N5 miracasts perfectly with my Sony smart TV (Except sometimes it lags or freezes and I have to reconnect) but I do have to go into the specific 'Screen Mirror' input channel.
Have you tried going into the specific source for Mirroring? Not sure if this will be applicable to Samsung TV's though.

Samsung got some modified miracast that works with allshare cast for samsung devices.
Is it possible to port those apps?

Today my TV updated to version 1117 after checking in menu.
Its working now with nexus 5,android 4.4.2 stock, faux 8u kernel.
But cant really use it when gaming, got some lagg, but its a good start that samsung now accepts a LG phone like the Nexus 5

1 more question.
Can i force the audio to my headphone while using miracast?
Tried SoundAbout and some other apps without success.

So I'm looking into buying my first smartwatch and the Sony smartwatch 1 is only 90 bucks but I was wondering if you guys know it will work with this phone. Specifically android 4.4 if you have this accessory and can help me that'd be great. Thanks

Yes it will

Yeah but Sony smart watches suck. I got the sw2 for free (I review products) and I stopped using it after writing the review.
Primary reasons:
Poor screen res
Lack of useful apps
Doesn't always notify when getting a call/text/etc
Have to install Sony app that has hidden data collection defaulted to on
Have to install an app for everything (an app for text notifications, an app for phone notifications, etc)
No built in speaker/mic
No camera and camera control app isn't that useful
And finally
Periodically enters low power mode and stops updating the time. That's right. It doesn't even do that properly.
Also newegg often sells them for 69.99 so 90 seems high.
Edit : forgot that exchange notification app is only compatible with Sony phones
