Is it possible to overlook and use Bluetooth device? I thought a kernel was to be released that would allow 1.2 ghz overclock and Bluetooth.

Nexus S already has Bluetooth (it is hardware not software). Look for buglesspete GPA18, or go to http://download.peteralfonso.com/ Crespo Nightlies are for GSM(T-Mobile) and Crespo4g is for CDMA (sprint). This rom does overclocking
What I meant was my phone reboots when overclocked. Is there a software fix? Or is this strictly a hardware issue?

do it
Give the rom I suggested a try, it comes with a kernel. Do a nandroid backup and a full wipe before installing it
Will test. I will overclock to 1.2ghz and use Bluetooth audio in car to test. Hopefully I can get through more than 2 songs before a reboot. Or better yet no reboot at all.

is it reboot it means that your phone cannot handle the extra MHz with the given voltage, try to increase voltage a bit.
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. Set all voltages up by one increment on sliders. Bluetooth running flawless for three songs now.

Hey brothas I'm kind of still learning about the capabilities of our smartphones as far as performance goes but I am really curious as to why whenever your downloading an app or anything
The phone runs so crappy and becomes very unresponsive and slow...I've never seen this happen on my mytouch 4g or even my g1...but whatever its downloading, it downloads it super fast but I just don't understand this phone has a dual core processor you would think it would be able to download anything and still run smooth...I dunno guys I am just curious if anyone knows why or even has a fix...its like this for me on all roms and kernels..my thought is when your downloading something the CPU focuses all its power on that download therefore everything else is slow..but I dunno like I said I am kind of a noob and always looking to learn...appreciate some input..thanks brothas

I was actually wondering about this myself. I get that slowdown too, and especially as it's installing the app or whatever it is I've downloaded.
Doesn't bother me TOO much, I just kind of chill out, while it installs... But a curiosity none-the-less.
Haven't noticed any slowdown while dl'ing. Just dl'ed a 3meg kernel in like 5 seconds.

I can confirm this. I think the main issue is, is that we are using software that was never intended for a dual core processor so the end result is random reboots, lag when downloading apps, etc. Even the Sensation which has a dual core processor has its share of software glitches/issues. Let's hope that when Ice Cream Sandwich (Google's next update with dual core processor support) comes out that we'll either automatically get the update from LG/T-Mobile or LG/Nvidia will release the necessary drivers and/or files to the XDA community.

No problem here. Stock rom runs great while downloading. No lag.

Sorry for the misunderstanding the phone is fine when downloading, but whenever its doing an install for whatever reason it gets unresponsive or extremely laggy for a short second. Try downloading something from the market and then when it starts to install browse the web and see what it does. This is definitely not a major or a minor issue for me since it does this for only a quick second.

Ok, so if you go to market and then go to myapps...and there's like 12 things that need to be updated...and you start clicking one by one, update, ok, update, ok, etc...you never feel any hiccup of lag when it's at the install phase of any of those?
I feel this all of the time. Especially when I use CM's market apps installer that defaults after installing a new nightly...when I have almost all of them checkmarked, then it takes me to the market page for each one of them individually. And it has nothing at all to do with internet connection or speed, because it's the same whether I'm using my 6MBps 4g, or my 36MBps wifi at home. Sometimes, the hiccup will even make me click the wrong button by accident.
my pc,6 core amd, 6 gigs ram, sometimes becomes sluggish while installing graphic card drivers etc. i wouldn't put too much thought into it. it usually takes about 5 seconds to install an app.

Yeah, I agree this isn't much of a big deal at least to me. I can live with it. I was just agreeing with the OP since I also noticed the short bit of lag.

Its not the download that causes the phone to be slow. When you're installing an app, the processor is being used and it will slow down the phone, especially when you're updating/installing multiple apps. My g1, droid, captivate, and g2x have done this. My ipod touch did it too.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I find that this only happens when installing an app from the google market. When installing apk's from any other source it seems to be fine.
Also as a note, after updating to the new google app i have noticed that it doesnt slow down anymore. It might be me, but i think its just the old market app.
I got this slow down on every Android phone I've owned except my Sensation. Maybe Gingerbread fixed it?

Your welcome and check out the link below. Even Qualcomm, the company who has designed processor chips for phones such as the myTouch 4g, HTC Sensation, Evo 3d etc. also agrees with my statement about the software not being supported for dual core processors. That's why some of you may have noticed that your previous 1ghz single core phone was either just as fast as these dual core phones or even faster in day to day use. For instance my myTouch 4g (when rooted with Faux Aosp build clocked at stock 1ghz) and Stock Nexus felt just as fast as the G2x when opening and closing apps and even scrolling through the browser (the myTouch 4g scrolled through the browser just as smooth as the G2x, but the Nexus S did not).

Does any Google Nexus S phone running AOSP Android reboot on its own like some Motorola Android phones do, or shut off unexpectedly like some Motorola Bionic phones do?
I am trying to determine if it is an underlying problem with Android, or if it is something Motorola might have introduced, or if it might be a hardware problem.
The Google Nexus S looked like a good reference phone to compare with.

No problems here. It probably has to do with the fact Motorola phones requires hacked together roms because you cannot flash custom kernels.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
Motorola phones reboot on their own because they can't take custom kernels?? Is the stock kernel the culprit? Under Froyo, my DroidX would reboot when connected via USB. There is reason to believe that a running app that resided on the SD card was not yielding to the unmount request, and the phone had to force a reboot as a last ditch effort to get the app to release the SD card to be mounted by the PC.
I also found this thread about the Nexus S: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...y-phone-randomly-rebooting-every-5mins-d.html

I recently installed system tuner pro, and it appears that my second code is not automatically running.
Is this true?
Do we need to activate the second core in order for it to work?
Sorry if this is a stupid question...

Thats weird. I just downloaded the free version on the market and Im gettin the same thing. Its not recognizing the 2nd core at all. I went to phone info in system tuner's settings and its not showing either. It must be some glitch in the latest version of the app because I used to have that app about 1-2 months ago and it showed 2 running cores. But when I go to CPU Master Pro and my phones main settings about phone info it shows 2 cores. After I rebooted, of course. Before I rebooted though in CPU Master Pro it only showed 1 core, so for sure the apps messed up.
This should help http://www.tested.com/news/dual-core-vs-single-core-arm-what-does-an-extra-core-really-get-you/2337/
What ROM you running? Did you reboot your phone? Did you reinstall the app after you rebooted your phone? And why do you use/need System Tuner? Personally I didnt like the UI and I didnt really see the need for it. Not at all hating, just my 2 cents.
Actually...I had used system tuner on my wife's sensation when ics first leaked, the forums for her phone advised to use it to force the 2nd core online. So, early today I was bored and just thought I would install it on my g2x just to see if my second core was running, and it said it wasn't.
I am on cm7 latest Lang from baldguy or whatever.....when I enables the second core, I didn't notice any difference, so I uninstalled the app. Then posted here...lol
Thanks for the info

Ya until ICS or CM9 with the hardware acceleration, which actually utilizes both cores like it should, only when playing 3D games the dual cores makes a difference. And that's mostly using the GPU anyway.

Hi everyone
I live in Georgia and have SIM Unlocked G2X , currently running owan's CM9 and Harsh latest OC kernel. My GPS gets a lock after 2+ minutes
I tried my gps.conf file that I was using on my captivate (I was getting instant locks with that conf) and still no go.
I get same performance on both GB and ICS ROM-s
any ideas?
I have same problem. It looks like AGPS on the G2x is broken. I run CM7.

Recently I got a new vehicle (Toyota RAV4) so I connected my s3. Via Bluetooth. However every rom Ive tried, both tw and aosp have this crackle and pop (snap?) coming through the speakers. I dont know if this is a problem with the phone or the car or rom, kernel, etc but am looking for suggestions. Thanks.

I bought my first GS3 pre order. I had the same crackle coming through any Bluetooth device I used. Since I stream Sirius all day, every day it was a huge issue. So I called vzw and they replaced with a brand new one. But, I was within the first 15 days of purchase. They documented the issue so they should know that some units have this issue. Get it replaced.
I called Verizon and their answer was that it has been a reported issue and that they are working on it with Samsung. I asked about replacing it but their answer was that it would basically continue to happen with the new one they send me and a software issue is the key. Did your replacement fix the issue?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Had the same crackle when I first received my S3 with a headset, but not with veh or home dongles. VZW said it has to be the headset. Funny thing is it was only 2 months old and worked like a champ on my DX. Tried a couple of other devices, no problems. Last resort was a factory reset, just for the sake of trying it. Resync'd all BT devices and never had a problem since. Definitely not a confirmed fix, but if kicking the side of the TV worked for dad, I'll give it a try.
Verizon is sending me a new one. I explained that if this was such a small scale issue, then it must be hardware. Otherwise more people would have reported it. And If Im wrong then I'll still have a new unit and will wait for a software patch. Either way I win.

Edit: On a whim I loaded cleanROM and no Bluetooth crackle. This is amusing at best.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I found that I got rid of bluetooth crackle by increasing voltages on my custom kernels (i switch between lean kernel and ktoonz). Seems like certain S3s have this problem when running below certain voltages. Currently have my lowest voltages at 925mv and progressive increase with steps, but I read the normal magic number is 1150. Try increasing your base voltages to 1150 (if your on custom rom and kernel of course) and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, you can experiment with lower voltages until the crackle reappears, to find your phones sweet spot.

Have also seen it fixed with kernel changes.
Hmmm. I will try this..

So, I'm confused about this:
On CM10, Bluetooth didn't work AT ALL. But I don't know if the 10/12 nightly had the right bluetooth decoding values.
On LiquidSmooth, I could get some audio now, but with constant crackling.
On ParanoidAndroid, I get audio, no problems.
What's the difference here? Is it just voltages? Should I just ask Verizon for a new device? It's been 5 days since I activated this one.

Yeah, I thought I had it working until last night when it crapped out again.
I actually regret going from the iphone to android right now. No single phone seems to be well made.
By experimenting on my drive in, this is entirely related to voltages/CPU speed. I don't have voltage control right now, but just kept upping my core clock until the crackling stopped. Around 900mhz everything became fine. Below 900, BT audio would pop. BT calls would last a few minutes, before suddenly dropping from my car. The car would still show being connected to BT, but the call would suddenly be on the handset.

I can agree with your findings. I have had issue with the bluetooth audio crackling with multiple roms and kernels. I found that by increasing your min voltage to at least 1026MHz that it will make the crackling go away (I am running slim 2.7 / lk v1.4). On some CM10 builds (without flashing a custom kernel), I have noticed that I don't even need to set the min voltage and works just fine. I use bluetooth everyday (car/home/work) and it gets some what irritating when I have to set the min voltage higher every time I connect to bluetooth. Is there any way you can set a custom profile to set the min voltage? I currently use Rom Toolbox Pro and it does not have an option to choose a custom profile for bluetooth. I also tried SetCPU App but it does not seem to work when I set the custom profile with the music app that I use. Any ideas to set a custom profile whenever I connect to bluetooth? Any help would be much appreciated
