What would you do???? - General Topics

I need help here cos I just can't make a decision...
I''ve always been a big nexus fan boy. I've had nexus s, galaxy nexus, nexus 4, nexus 7 and nexus 10.
My wife kept bothering me to have my nexus 4 cos she really liked it so I have it her Nd bought a htc one to have a change thinking I'll just sell it and get a nexus 5 when it comes out no big deal.
I've got someone wanting to buy my HTC off me now and I just can't make the decison to buy the nexus.
I have the 32gb HTC red, but I would be buying the 16gb nexus for the same amount I sell this phone for.
I've got used to the front facing stereo speakers and the BlinkFeed which o think is awesome.
On the other hand though I like to have the latest tech and os as I'm a tech geek.
What would you do in my shoes?

Is this good deal?

Sorry for terrible offtopic, but i really need your help friends :
Im offered to sell my sensation and to buy Galaxy Nexus for 150 e more..
I mean, is Nexus better phone than Sensation ? General ?
Sorry again and thanks in advance
Galaxy Nexus looks great!
Now, you know what you get with "Google Phones", regular updates, "genuine" android, a great and big community !
Technically galaxy nexus has the upper hand, thought.
If I were you I'd wait because HTC are releasing new phones this year and you are going to be stuck with your nexus while everybody is enjoying their new high end phones..
Well I think you shouldn't do that because 150E to pay more is ridiculous.
Galaxy Nexus is a bit better than HTC Sensation but to pay 150E more is not worth.
If you want that phone pay 50E more max! Sensation is high end phone and soon we will get official ICS update for it and design of HTC Sensation is better than galaxy nexus.
Galaxy Nexus pros:
HD display (the Sensation's display honestly isn't bad), NFC (which 98% of us will never use) and most important official Android support from Google!
Galaxy Nexus cons:
No external SD slot (only 16gb of memory on the unlocked GSM version), 5 megapixel camera which have been confirmed by both G Nexus owners and reviewers to not be that great but it gets the job done.
My conclusion:
If you have the means and you must have the latest official update from Google themselves then I say go for it. I am honestly glad with the development we have and do not care for the G Nexus. Maybe later on I'll purchase a G Nexus just for fun.

First of all if ur a pure aosp guys no matter what then u should just get nexus but man sensation is just a so much better phone in any spec wise if u compare, plus the 720p screen on nexus isn't even that good I saw it on Telstra and u can literally see pixels when u first see the phone.
Comes down to personality I like sense that's why sensation has always been the best for me
Sent from my sensational HTC sensation's xda app
Now if you ask me, i'll keep my Sensation too for many reasons, mainly because it's like the desire or the hero before, it's "mainstream" you have so much great developpers, high end roms and users, i really love my phone for that.
But with android you always got the choice, maybe 150e is a little to high, that's true.
Id stick with the sensation for now.

Only a child would waste money like that. With the gn being only a slight upgrade to the sensation and all...
I wouldn't trade me sensation for a Samsung phone even if i got 150$ with it. Build quality is more important for me then specs, and samsung sucks in that regard imo...

Galaxy nexus or s3

Guys I am planing to buy a new android phone so I am confused weather to buy s3 or nexus which is better s3 or nexus???
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
Yeah good question.... i kinda think too. What should i buy BMW or Maserati
from this 2 phones , i preffer S III , but if i got that chance , i would buy One X no doubt!
buy the s3 if you want continuing support, buy the nexus only if you want stock ics. Samsung has almost completely ignored the nexus because they release flagship phone after flagship phone, however the s3 is something they have to continue to support for quite a while.
I'd go for the S3. Faster CPU, bigger+better screen, sd-card slot.

[Q] Which phone should i get?

hello there!
sorry if this is in the wrong section, but i was wondering if you guys could help me choose.
im getting a new phone for my birthday but i dont know what to get, my price range is around £200 give or take
at the moment i am looking at:
HTC 8S
HTC Desire X
now im upgrading from a Samsung Monte (lol) but i do have a little experience with android and IOS but not windows phone 8. now i mainly will be using it for a phone and listening to music and movies. but i do play a few games (Usually the bigger games too).
Off course htc 8X

its the 8S not the 8X. i would buy the 8X if u could tho
both phones are good but the main question is...what os will be more suitable for you.I suggest go for a "test drive" in your nearest shop and play with a win 8 phone. But my suggestion is to try and find a nokia win phone.nokia music is for you and it is free too for a year i think.
Andoid is more fun but Win 8 is more "smooth" and "easy"
I bought a Galaxy SII a couple of months ago, and it's the best phone I've ever had. I realize the SIII is better, but the SII does everything I need.
Both phones are supposedly quite good.
I guess it'll come down to what ecosystem you prefer.
I haven't seen too much on the Desire X, but I would warn you that while the 8S is a decent low-end handset it does come with a meagre 4GB storage on-board, so make sure you get a nice roomy MicroSD card to go with it.
There is a significant lack of apps on windows OS. And I mean a massive lack, with most big games etc that have been on apple and android for ages not on there at all.

I think u can buy Galaxy S2, low price, great mobile.
Go for an original galaxy note and it will be the only electronic device in your hand the whole day ))

Desire X its much better from 8S for me,but the choice its yours.
I would definitely recommend Samsung Galaxy s3,best phone I've ever had. With root and custom rom of course!
note 2 ! note 2 ! note 2 !
i think HTC 8S is better.
Samsung Galaxy S2 ....best smartphone today :victory:
I'd go with the Desire X - No love for windows phones as I don't like the interface.
Plus, sense is awesome.
HTC 8S comes with window 8 and HTC Desire X comes with 4.0.4 android operating system except to most of the features are same. I think you should go with HTC Desire X.
Galaxy s iii. I got one with a extended battery 4300 Hyperion. 32 gig sandisk card. Att has them for 29.99 right now. I got mine in Oct for 49.99. I argued and got it rebated back and taken off next bill. Not a refurb either. I like nexus but no ext card. If your going to root then not much benefit if a nexus. Running 4.2 just as it is anyways.

8X is significantly good. But if you're looking for an android phone, HTC One X+ is a beast.
htc 8s is pretty nice. id choose that
8s doesn‘t have a front camera

Who will be jumping off the nexus bandwagon?

I will. Anyone else? In a couple months can't wait!
The overall specifications of the Galaxy S5 are: a 64-bit Exynos or a Snapdragon processor, it will pack 3 GB of RAM, a 16 MP camera, a 4,000 mAh battery, and it will run on Android 4.4 Kitkat.
This source claims that there will be a “Premium” model sporting a metal case, and a flexible OLED and one “normal” version sporting a normal OLED and a plastic chassis.
Samsung would need to do a lot more than that for me even to consider going back to them. Any closed-source exynos based device is off my radar immediately after the experience of my s3. Nah, even if the specs don't agree, nexus is a much better device for me.
Besides, any performance benefits of hardware are immediately lost when dropping touchwiz on a device.

Have had the s3 and s4 never going back to samsung

after what theyre pulling with knox im never going back. sold my s4 to get the n5 and i love it in every way. the camera might only be 8mp but im able to take pics that are on par with the s4, some even better with OIS.
and i heard that the s5 is going to be unibody, which to my understanding means no removable battery. (may be wrong)
Yes technically the nexus 5 also doesnt have a removeable battery, but its so easy to take it apart without any real tools that i consider the battery to be removeable.
Though im not saying im going to stay with nexus. LG looks promising and so does sony. so my next phone may be from one of them if they are able to wow me and they are lax with rooting n such.

I'd rather fight than switch.
I can't do AMOLED screens. They strain my eyes like the crappy screens Apple is starting to use in their new products. Even with glasses, I get a dull headache after about 15 minutes.
well i was with htc for a while.. evo 4g.. evo 3d.. evo 4g LTE.. then i traded my evo lte for the S3.. then got the S4 when it dropped.. got bored with the S4 then traded my S4 for the HTC ONE.. didnt like the HTC ONE much besides the speakers.. so i sold the HTC ONE and got another S4.. Never liked stock android on any of them devices.. then i heard the N5 was coming out figured i would give Nexus a try.. so i orderd my N5 oct 31 from the play store.. got it a few days later.. and i have to say that i LOVE my N5 more then any phone.. wish i would have went with Nexus years ago.. now i love stock android.. so smooth/fast.. and i love flashing rom/kernels so the nexus is perfect for me.. so much development.. I would Never get another phone.. thats why i pray google dont do away with Nexus anytime soon.. i just got here and i love it!!:good: if i didnt like this Nexus so much i would prob get the S5.. cause notes are to big in my eyes and im so done with HTC taking 6 months to release kernel source.. Nexus FTW
Personally, I don't see myself buying another Non-Nexus device ever again (unless they stop making them). I've played with the HTC One, S4, and IP5s quite a bit (friends' devices) and wouldn't consider trading my N5 for any of those. I love vanilla Android and staying off of a cellular contract is nice as well.
Time for a change

You're comparing a phone thats standardly $350-400 Unlocked to a premium phone that would well be over $800.
My nexus is going to stick with me for a few years.
I'll be laughing becuase you'll be stuck on a contract/tab, and i've already payed out my phone.
I'm the kind of guy who has absolutely ZERO brand loyalty. I don't care who makes it, if it's cool I'll likely buy it. I have a MacBook Pro, Surface Pro, iPad Mini, Dell Venue 8 Pro, Nexus 7, Nexus 5, Moto X, and I've had a couple iPhones. I'm also a Ford truck guy but currently drive a Dodge Challenger. The point I'm trying to make is whatever the next great smartphone is, regardless of brand or manufacturer, I WILL buy it. So that means I am going to have the HTC One + or whatever it will be called, I'll also likely get the GS5 as long as there's a metal one like the rumors state. The Nexus 5 has been great to me, but it's just a phone. I get that it's a Nexus and everyone here are Nexus die hards, but there is nothing about it that screams "these are the only phones I will ever buy from this point forward." That said, I will also likely buy the Nexus 6, so long as it's cool.

64 bit processor is CRAP marketing that apple pushed and as everything apple does, Samsung will as well. The different is hardly measurable.
More than 2 GB on a phone is waste in my opinion, I never get much past 1gb anyway.
4000 mah battery is just CRAP except if the device is as huge as the note, it is not like Samsung invented some new super dense battery.
Not much of an upgrade apart from camera.
MOD EDIT: Profanity replaced...please read rule 2.1

Yeah I'm like this too, it's just that I don't have that kind of money to keep buying every phone that comes out
I have all 3 major ecosystems, and I really don't care which one I use. They all work great for certain things, and not so great for others.
No way I'll ever use Samsung phones again; bloatware, ridiculous software add-ons, flimsy designs, gimmicks, touch wiz and way too expensive. I'll stick with nexus until it isn't around anymore and go with anything BUT Samsung... overrated and overpriced. BTW I owned several Samsung's including the S4 and returned them all...

[Q] About buying nexus 5

Would you recommend buying this phone if the low price factor was gone? Here's the thing, Nexus 5 costs the same as Galaxy s4 and only a little bit cheaper than Htc one and Lg g2 here in my country. Also which one out of those four i've mentioned would you buy?

I definetly beats the Galaxy S4, as for the HTC One the design is better than the Nexus 5, but if you want to have quick updates, a Nexus is still a must
S4 and m7 are older phones, so not as faster. Plus their OEM ROMs slow them down in comparison. The nexus is the fastest device there. I always buy the latest handsets. But I'm not you so do what you want
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
My S4 was way more than N5 and there's no comparison!! Nexus runs Aosp like a boss and no other device even comes anywhere close. Fact.
Edit added
I've been having Android since G1 all top end phones, 2 a year and this is my all time favorite. Comparing anything to a Nexus device is silly, Imo anyway. Sprint failed to carry the Mako or I never would have owned a S4. [emoji12]
Sent from my Nexus V
I'd forget the S4 and One and narrow your choices to the G2 and N5, then go from there. Tough to recommend a phone when we don't know what you're looking for as far as features go,
It's your choice. But the Nexus5 rocks and you're in a Nexus5 XDA forum!
If you want to flash everything under the sun....N5. If not, G2. Simple.
