I've upgraded from Nexus 4 to the Nexus 5 and need help exporting the call log & SMS history from my old device on 4.3 so that everything shows up in 4.4 on the Nexus 5. Any help would be appreciated

Try using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts&hl=ro
Titanium backup will back them up to XML. Then you can import them on your new phone. Works like a charm.

I've use these two apps many times and they've worked flawlessly, including just now for the upgrade to my Nexus 5

ok, I was thinking of just using Carbon by Koush, but was concerned as I'm not sure about the location changes for the data as the phone app has been significantly changed and the messaging app is no more

I miss the SMS messaging widget in 4.4 kitkat, and I don't see one for Hangouts. Any suggestions?

I am using that right now. It doesn't pull previous messages already present. Only the ones you create after the widget is installed. Still in beta most likely.

You could try backing up your texts, wiping them, installing Widget, then restoring?

It's a limitation in the app because Google hasn't released an api so it works off notifications.

Hey guys, has anybody tried had sync? I always used it on my nexus devices, however, the last update for it is on October 6th, way before KitKat release date. I've read through some of the reviews and some have mentioned of it preventing phone from going to deep sleep and causing wake locks. That was on a galaxy phones though, no mention of issues on nexus 5. I have just got the nexus, don't really want to install something that's not fully compatible yet.

Working fine for me.. Just got my phone a couple hours ago, so can't really say much on the wake lock part. But, the contacts sync up and its fine so far..
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Why not try it for your self? If it causes problems just uninstall it. Plan and simple. Not like it can brick your phone because an app isn't 100% compatible.
Working fine for me too.

I have sync.me on one of my old androids letting it update my contacts...good idea if you have a old phone laying around...not sure but you could use haxsync like that too.

I did when I got my nexus. My battery died faster than expected. I looked through logs, and noticed that yahoo weather was draining a lot of battery on the background, ended up uninstalling that and haxsync because I figured that it could have been both as android usage was also high. Today, everything was fine. I will try to reinstall it.
I do seem to get some contact pics synced, I'm guessing by default Facebook app still doesn't sync contacts on stock, right? Pictures might be coming from Google +?

Been using haxsync for a week now on my N5 & no battery drain/wakelocks according to bbs from haxsync so its ok to use.

I have not as the Dev put in the description that it's only needed for 4.1. Calendar and contacts are syncing just fine without it.

Uhm I installed it, but the pictures seems to be all in low resolution.. It's because this Nexus is bigger then the previous?

On 4.4.2 haxsync doesnt work anymore at least for me
are there any alternatives?
I don't find HaxSync on Play Store, on both Play Store app (on Nexus 5) and Play Store web
There's a playstore fix in xposed installer. This may fix your problem

he removed it from play store because it is atm not whitelisted through facebook more infos on Facebook page
I was unable to find HaxSync on play store, so I searched through Google and clicked the link, works flawlessly.

MersauX,
Can you please tell me where you found it? What link? When I search for the Haxsync APK, I find a lot of sites, but I am always a bit leery at downloading them from these types of places since I worry about the files authenticity. Thanks in advance.

Thanks but it's not currently available on the play store. That's the reason I asked in the first place.
I've never had any wakelocks using haxsync, and it has never shown up in my battery stats ever.

Odd, that link works for me. Must be because I've had it installed for years...
Does anyone else have this issue?
Whenever I try to play a video, it asks me which app to use.
But when I touch ALWAYS, it never remembers?
This happens to a lot of files, not just video.
I have a T-Mobile note 3 on 4.4.2.
My friend has a Verizon note 3 on 4.3 and she has the same issue too!

Mine does this for specific files, not all of them. Anything I try to open with Tapatalk won't stick.
Hi,
the default app feature doesn't work for most filetypes on either of my devices (S3, Note 3, Note 10.1 2014). Seems to be a Samsung bug?

I think this is Kitkat Fever.
Hi @Neo3D goto settings>>app manager tap menu and clear defaults. Now when ever it asks you for which app to run click always and I think this will save them as default apps.

Yup, have this issue too. Sticks for some then put of the blue forgets.

Interesting, I do not have this issue whatsoever - and I used a lot of different apps that require specificity such as Tapatalk, Link Bubble, etc
Stock T-Mobile Note 3 running 4.4.2, unrooted.
One of your installed apps seems to be resetting the default selection that you have chosen. I've had this issue one time.

Mine's been doing it since the reset, even before I installed any apps....
ever since KK, WiFi passwords disappear and it has nothing to do with restarting, i even cleaned cache/dalvik just to see if that is doing it, nope...
Then the Active Apps widget, it is not really accurate in 3rd party launchers, especially if they have the feature to lock the homescreen, many times it shows 8 apps open, and not more then two are shown on the list.
For wifi passwords i used this method.. Second Post

No reseting since 1-2 weeks.. Maybe this method really help
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
This only happens when a new simular app is installed or when using a new file not associated.
I have never had a wifi reset.
Using stock tw rooted and some bloat removed.
dont forget the thanks button if I helped out!!
Hey guys,
For about two days now, ever since I updated my Nexus 5 (running on T-Mobile) to 4.4.3 using the OTA, Google Hangouts is failing to send texts in phases. For one hour or so it'll fail every other text until I resend it, then after that it works for a few hours again perfectly fine, then back to failing some.
I'm going to try using Evolve SMS for a bit to see if it happens there, but something tells me this isn't Hangouts' fault.
I am rooted and have a custom recovery, but it's been that way for months (Before 4.4.3 update) and I doubt would affect it.
Thanks,
David
Try cheating the cache in hangouts. If that doesn't work uninstall it, reboot, and then reinstall it from play store

I'll do that, I just cleared my cache/dalvik too. Unfortunately Hangouts is hardwired into stock so I can only uninstall updates, but if it acts up again I'll try that.

I do, although I'll use that as a last resort at the moment haha. Still think it's a more widespread-than hangouts problem.
Update: Switched to Evolve SMS, still happening x.x
I was also having this issue using Chompsms. Reverted back to 4.4.2 and the issue is gone. Also on T-Mobile

I think it was with T-Mo in my area. My friend was on Nexus 5 stock 4.4.2 and having the problem, it's since gone.
Tldr: Issue resolved itself, was likely T-Mobile's side
Hi everyone,
I have been reading this forum for well over a year and took the plunge into trying the Android L preview on my Nexus 5 32 GB. I am loving the way the software functions on my nexus 5 except i am having one issue. The phone i installed it on is a secoundary phone i have connected with sprint. When i am using the phone for a phone call and i get an incoming call I do not see who is calling and the phone doesn't show who is calling. Any ideas?

Go back to stable releases. It's a preview release, not a daily driver (though quite stable)
