[Q] when will tab 2 get android 4.4 kitkat - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

please anybody gets any news or information about roms inform me :fingers-crossed:
thanks:good:

This question is the equivalent of asking for an ETA. Asking for ETAs at XDA is against the rules. Have patience is all I can recommend. One of the developers will pick it up in due time. But if patience is not possible, you can always install 64 bit Linux along with the Android SDK and build it yourself.

I think we will get in May!!!
May-be Yes, May-be No

I wonder how many Kit Kat threads will pop up on XDA?

thanks ever body i am sure that within two weeks some body will make a custom rom :good::good:

i think we will only get aosp based 4.4 ROM's, but i look forward to see if there will be any performance improvements for our tab!

I don't think we ever will, the tab 2 has a TI processor, just like the Gnex, which is why it was dropped from "official" support. I'm not saying it won't see a rom, but it's probably unlikely.

Now there are no excuses for denying the possibility of 4.4 on p51xx models,as p31xx models do have it.

Cody has a build for all 7s up now. Minor glitches but it's 99% working already.... that was fast.

Request Xylon builds for your device here!

The title says it all.
In case you don't know what Xylon is, it is a semi-minimalistic custom ROM that is designed to be experimental. It is often the fastest ROM you can get on a device, with almost no bugs...
So yeah.
Rules for requests:
You must be able to test for me, or you must find a person with the device to test for me.
There must be an existing android 4.2.2 aosp rom for your device.
If you donate, your request will be attended to first, otherwise, it is first come first serve and thanks amount of the request.
I cannot guarantee to port Xylon to every device requested although I will try.
Currently on my agenda:
I9100 status: built, sent to tester fixing
HTC HD2: Built, sent
Samsung fascinate
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Samsung Captivate i897
Galaxy ace: Ill deal with armv6 later...
Devices already ported to (look for it in original development or development):
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III
Nexus s
TF101 (unreleased, just request if you want)
Finally, if I have ignored your request for greater than two weeks, it doesn't mean I hate you, it just means that the request breaks one of the rules, or I just overlooked it.

Hi i would love for regular development of Samsung Galaxy S II I9100, Fuss132 did bring out a beta, which was a great ROM (apart from broken bluetooth & no wi fi tether), a few days later an update was released, but it had to be removed due to soft bricking of devices.Since then there has been nothing.I realize Fuss is busy with other projects, but i would love to use this rom all the time if it was updated for my device.I am willing to test.
Could you port it to Samsung Galaxy Ace? It's a mid range phone, but it has 4.2.2 CM10.1 but not AOSP.
I hope you'll be able to.

Potential for 4.2.2. for our S Advance

Found this interesting news. A list of devices scheduled (when who knows) to get the 4.2.2 update from Samsung. It is only a preliminary list from a Samsung insider and could change. Galaxy S Advance is in the list though.
List of Devices
It also will probably be the last update we get for S Advance.

Would be great. Only if this device can handle it properly ...

hahaa... are you kidding...??
when will we get this..??
there is not even official firmware release everywhere...for 4.1.2 ...
sure we will see in mid 2015 when samsung will release 4.2.2 trial in serbia..
but still happy.. so so so much greedy..
Wanna ask 1 question..that is the last update n will not get key lime pie right?so is there any possibility that a custom rom like key lime pie will be produce?

There is a possibility yes. The activity level of the dev/mod community for the SGA is not the highest though. Might take some time untill we even get some real custom roms based on 4.1.2. Custom roms based on Android 5.0 (or look-alikes) are even more far away...
Thanx..eventhough a rom like android 5 is far more away, in future i hope such rom or alike android 5 will be produce..

[Q] Building 4.3 JB for Xperia E

Hi,
First of all I believe this is a development thread, and It should probably be moved there but since I am new I was not allowed to post there.
Now I recently downloaded the entire source tree from aosp and I compiled version 4.3 JB. It went smooth and it made the appropriate system.img image. I wanted to port this to Xperia E Single Sim. I begin by first downloading CyanogenMod nanhu SS zip file and extracted the boot.img file from it (Since that's the kernel) I then wrote an extremely simple updater-script which basically flashed the system.img onto the system partition. zipped it up then ran TWRP and flashed the zip file. It asked me whether I wanted to install root and I said yes, after it installed root, I rebooted the phone and it is stuck at bootloop. I am stuck here as I do not know how to proceed to try and port this pure aosp rom to it. I hope you can shed any light on what I am supposed to do.
Haven't u use the @jjm34 cwm kernel yet?
Sent from my C1505 using xda app-developers app
Yes possibly it will be a good thread, if any developer can start developing for this device.
Sent from my C1605 using Tapatalk 2
The @jjm34 kernel is basically a Stock kernel, It's based on Sony's stock kernel, in order to run a pure aosp rom, you would have to compile a kernel yourself BASED on something. I am yet to learn how to do this, I dont know how to set up my device tree in such a way that when I run the lunch command, I should be able to build for the xperia E SS.
Why focus on a pure AOSP kernel? Just port Sony's kernel for now. Otherwise there will be a lot of problems with RIL and all..
any updates about this development? i'm really desperate getting the aosp rom for xperia e because i really don't like the sony's stock rom...

Your first post on XDA is against the rules of XDA. You should read them.
If you are so desperate you should get a different phone that has active development or develop yourself.
We do not appreciate your type of desperation here. There are more valid reasons in life to feel desperation, not having AOSP is not one of them. If you still feel this way in a couple of days I advise you seek medical help.

What are the chances for a MotoG SlimKat? The device is near-AOSP and the sources are available.
Also, considering its price point, to say it's going to be wildly popular is an understatement.

it can be done, in facts its not even that hard, slimkat was my first port project and if the sources are available then it will be even easier
but you need the CPU sources, the Device configs and the kernel sources
widely popular im not so sure about
people always want the best phone and(as people usually think)"more expensive is better"
the motoG sounds like a "my first smartphone" kinda thing and and people dont usually root there first phone for a while(4 months on my first, 2 on my second, waited for exploit)

Not even sure why I'm in this forum... But i see the is unanswered
It can only be ported if you're device as cyanogenmod ported to it by another(better dev) after that the process is really easy

I have built CM10 from source for the phone, and now want to build Slim from source for the phone. I can't get the build off the ground though. Do you know how I can do it?

I would love to, but unfortunately we lack a kernel for the PrimoU (Htc One V) in fact we don't even have one that uses ION memory yet :'(. The highest android version we have a working kernel for is currently 4.2.2 so I am learning to dev 4.1.2 so I can move up once I'm confident. I'm currently still struggling through Slim3.1 build!
Trying to squash goldfish breaking it right now.
make: *** [out/target/product/primou/obj/SHARED_LIBRARIES/audio.primary.goldfish_intermediates/AudioHardwareGeneric.o] Error 1

Thanks Zawata,
in case anyone else comes across this problem I fixed it by using the CM10 Goldfish. Chaning the google one out for the CM one in the locla manifest.
