[Q] Building 4.3 JB for Xperia E - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Hi,
First of all I believe this is a development thread, and It should probably be moved there but since I am new I was not allowed to post there.
Now I recently downloaded the entire source tree from aosp and I compiled version 4.3 JB. It went smooth and it made the appropriate system.img image. I wanted to port this to Xperia E Single Sim. I begin by first downloading CyanogenMod nanhu SS zip file and extracted the boot.img file from it (Since that's the kernel) I then wrote an extremely simple updater-script which basically flashed the system.img onto the system partition. zipped it up then ran TWRP and flashed the zip file. It asked me whether I wanted to install root and I said yes, after it installed root, I rebooted the phone and it is stuck at bootloop. I am stuck here as I do not know how to proceed to try and port this pure aosp rom to it. I hope you can shed any light on what I am supposed to do.

Haven't u use the @jjm34 cwm kernel yet?
Sent from my C1505 using xda app-developers app

Yes possibly it will be a good thread, if any developer can start developing for this device.
Sent from my C1605 using Tapatalk 2

The @jjm34 kernel is basically a Stock kernel, It's based on Sony's stock kernel, in order to run a pure aosp rom, you would have to compile a kernel yourself BASED on something. I am yet to learn how to do this, I dont know how to set up my device tree in such a way that when I run the lunch command, I should be able to build for the xperia E SS.

Why focus on a pure AOSP kernel? Just port Sony's kernel for now. Otherwise there will be a lot of problems with RIL and all..

any updates about this development? i'm really desperate getting the aosp rom for xperia e because i really don't like the sony's stock rom...

Your first post on XDA is against the rules of XDA. You should read them.
If you are so desperate you should get a different phone that has active development or develop yourself.
We do not appreciate your type of desperation here. There are more valid reasons in life to feel desperation, not having AOSP is not one of them. If you still feel this way in a couple of days I advise you seek medical help.

Xperia Miro Android Dev

Hello guy's,
It's the first time I post on XDA so i present myself. I'm LoveForEver and i'm the webmaster of a site that support some android smartphones. My site's is
Moderator Edit
It is against XDA rules to promote another web site especially to try and solicit devs. I will leave the thread open for discussion of the ROM but that's it.
We've added a new phone to our supported smartphone list and the smartphone we choosed is the Sony Xperia Miro.
We are now actually searching for people who have the smartphone and could make custom roms (just port CM9 or CM10) and other things for the smartphone.
Could you make custom roms?
Would you like to see a custom rom for miro too?
Never heard of it?
Tapatalked Xperia S
Hello,
You never heard about what?
The phone or my site?
If it's my site it's normal cause we were based on the Acer Liquid Metal before so we were more popular on Modaco.
Now we will support the most phones people who work with us want to support.
Lol sorry, I meant the phone. Out of all the random Xperia models I've never heard that name before. Is it UK available?
Tapatalked Xperia S
After a little search, i found that it was avalaible by clove & o2 in the uk.

No it's just a phone reseler like Carp-Warhouse I think
So what your really asking is for the devs here on xda to share their Roms with you so that you can publish them on your site.
Have you or any member of your site created any mods or Roms for any device yet?
Will you be uploading your work here on XDA?
Sorry if I seem rude but it just looks like your trying to promote your own site with others work.

I think you just totally misunderstood.
I have a site were I promote work of some devs and support phones.
I just want to help people who have the phone we support with Question & Answer, Custom Roms, News & Tuts.
I'm not searching people who will dev for my website but I search people who will dev for the Xperia Miro and that I'll also support on my website if they want to. And of course the work will be on XDA.
Lens_Flare the dev who is making roms for Acer Liquid MT first worked on Modaco then whe made LFDesigns together and he always posted his work on modaco after.
I think people misunderstand me. It's note very cool.
I can port Infinity Rom to Xperia Miro.
But I want a link to official .ftf
Also there is no CWM recovery for miro yet.

So you want first that someone port cwm recovery to miro? I could try to do it with help of lens_flare

No, altered said in the PA thread that he was working on aospa, so... That is what A2trip was pointing out, with his screen shot that he included in his post.
Also this has been asked and answered so many times now. AOKP will most likely not come to this phone, but there is CM10 and CM10.1 if those ever become bug free then maybe, but I would highly doubt it.

A noob with some questions :)

Hello!
I'm ajesushn, I come from ginger (Galaxy Ace S5830i) and in my opinion JB look like very complicated to flash (compared to ginger).
At first, I would want to know which is the difference between official unlock bootloader method (Sony and FreeXperia method) and flashtool method??
At second, I'm very excited due to cyanogenmod 10 is available for nanhu but I have been searching a especific changelog for nanhu or the buglist in the FreeXperis Project website but I have not found it. I search this because I saw a GSM bug in some website but I didn't see the solution or if this bug has been fix yet. So, is it CM10 100% working (GSM too)?
Thats all and thanks for your attention.

Hey!
I come from Gingerbread as well (Micromax Bolt A27, super cheap phone), and I think JB is actually easier to use/flash than GB. But keep your opinion, don't copy mine if you don't want to.
1. The difference... I honestly see none. I've unlocked and relocked, once unlocked with Sony, once with Flashtool. Either time, I saw no difference. They might even be the same thing, with Flashtool doing nothing but automating the process.
2. Don't use FXP. FXP, while good development, is incomplete. Instead, use this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330638 (made by jjm34), and this kernel: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B73-53ZX-WVRSGxDZFBjNURBdm8/edit (made by hsr0). This is the best CM10 you can get, the only bugs being:
a) Video recording doesn't work.
b) Compass/magnetometer doesn't work (nobody ever pointed this out, but it's true).
c) GSM randomly fails for some people.
d) In a couple of cases, Bluetooth had problems.
Note that it's a very, very low chance you'll get bugs c) and d), but I've got both, so I'm currently using stock.

Yep. I'm back at bug d and e -.-
No CyanogenMod for me, until CM11. I'm getting real tired. This is the second time in 2 weeks. If I have to flash the same ROM every week, I might as well stay stock.
@OP: You can always try CM10, but my advice is to stay stock until CM11 arrives, hot off the press with development still being active!
Have a nice day

Frankly speaking, if Sony wanted to update nanhu to KitKat, they'd have updated it to 4.2 and 4.3 too. But we're still at 4.1. Moral of the story: no, sorry. UltraGamerHD and hsr0 are working on CM11, but you'll have to wait a bit.

Before unlocking, root your device, and backup the TA partition. Now unlock, and whenever you want to relock, simply reflash the TA partition.
I don't think the SDK or anything else is needed, as I never installed it. However, I do always keep Minimal ADB and Fastboot on my laptop (it's basically ADB and Fastboot without downloading the whole SDK).
This last line you said confuses me. Who said unlocking causes malfunctions? Sony? If it's Sony, they're warning you that with an unlocked bootloader, you're likely to flash new system images, different kernels, stuff like that. Doing all that has a chance that you'll brick your phone. Of course, it doesn't usually happen, but there's always a chance. To restore, you can usually flash the stock FTF file, so that's no big problem.
Hi!
At "Original Android Development" thread there is a Tapioca CM11 thread but, this say "device maintaner: (...) E -> hsr0" so , is it a nanhu CM11 thread too? Is it a common CM11 thread if the title say "Tapioca"? I'm confused

[DEV-ONLY] Android L Port

Hi guys,
First I must begin by saying that I am not a developer. However, using this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008) thread, I have managed to "port" Android L to the One, though I have no clue if it even boots. There are a few problems that need to be discussed:
1) AOSP ROMs are around 400 mb? This one is 900+ mb.
2) When I was zipping the ROM, I saw Prism.apk was also in it, and a heck lot of other HTC related things.
3) Will the current kernel for KitKat work smoothly on L?
Anyway, this is my first step to being a potential developer and hope you all get excited for this. I do have one request though, if I can get a few devs to work with me on this, we can get to new heights on our One.
You can download the zip I created here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4JA1Kc3xlxiZUw2XzNzM1NKMVU/edit?usp=sharing
DISCLAIMER:
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR DEVICE GETS BRICKED.
Thanks in advance,
the playa!
Can you attach the Build.prop file?
If you're going to post it at least try it yourself first man, this could brick everyone's device.

Did you miss the [Dev-Only] in the title? Every flash on your device could brick it if you aren't careful, nothing unique with this build. If you don't want to risk it, don't flash. Simple as that.

Sure: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4JA1Kc3xlxiWHJOV1JnS3FCRzg/edit?usp=sharing
But as far as I remember, I did not do anything to it. The base ROM that I used was a stock deodexed Sense 6 ROM and the port ROM I used was the system dump from Android L, if that helps.

Okay fine, all I'm saying is there's already a thread on this in the general section so its almost pointless to post something else if it hasn't even been tested or is just like the other. There's already work being done on this...

Im not a dev just a general user but I don't think we should be creating these types of threads if you don't know what you're doing. Let the real devs do their work if it was as easy as following a copy/pasting port guide every device would already have a l build. Just be patient and eventually a nice dev will maybe make some magic happen for us.

This ROM will not work, period. The reason is because you did not follow step 1 of the guide which states quite clearly:
"Take any clean CM9, AOSP, CM7, CM10, CM11 ROM which is running on your device as Base ROM."
Now, don't know about you but I do not think a stock deodexed Sense 6 ROM counts as any of those mentioned in step 1... that is why you are seeing HTC things in the ROM.

Ah. Thanks for pointing that out. I will update the zip file today.

It will not work just by using that guide; The bases are just too different.

no man, you can not do this because we have not a base for L! so it should be ported compiling source and fixing bug and issues...is not a thing that you find in a guide

I think your best bet would be to download the Nexus 5 sources and then do some "patchwork" with HTC One libs and whatnot, when needed. The good thing is that they are both at the same resolution and have similar specs.
And after you're done with that, you should be able to build with a couple of adjustments to various build-related things.
EDIT: Also, there will probably be issues with kernels? so you'll have to work through that also.

You can't be patching and copy/pasting libs. No zip modding when it comes to porting big base changes
You'll need to decompile and redo your ramdisk etc. And like jonny said you can't be using sense and gpe parts

Android L Keyboard in Play Store
I just wanted to note that there's a third-party application "Android L Keyboard" by Shen Le in the Play Store which I've been using on the latest CM11 nightlies that works great.
I understand that's not the point of this project but I just wanted to make sure other users are aware. Also, it's kind of scary to have to trust that a keyboard from the Play Store isn't logging and reporting your keystrokes but that's another issue entirely... anyways I added a screenshot, good luck with the project!
:good:
Thread has been closed at OP's request,
Many thanks,
Ghost
