hi guys,
is there a keyboard apk that has numbers on the first row where you dont have to "long press" it anymore?
same as the samsung keyboard.
Pretty sure Kii has this feature and many more besides https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zl.inputmethod.latin
thanks magnafunk... but the app needs to be upgraded to premium so that i can use the feature without resetting every hour.

After reading this post I thought I would give this keyboard a try. Really like it. The auto correct seems very good, ability to have number keys above, swipe typing, can change key size. Was a bit expensive for a keyboard, but worth it in my opinion.

SwiftKey allows you to change the long-press time. I have mine at 120 ms and it's bloody quick.

Look here, LG G2 Keyboard works very well.

The hacker's keyboard is a good alternative, especially as it also has ctrl/alt/f keys and its full keyboard mode is very useful in landscape

I would be grateful for that application as well. This new keyboard is not bad, but its not as as good as the old one on which I'm used to. So please, if some of you have it, upload it for us.
Thanks

If you only use the arrow buttons to move the cursor there is now a better way. Just tap the text, it will then appear on the "suggestion's bar". Now slide the bar left or right to move the cursor.

Isn't it the Android keyboard? Just long press your text box to get into input method and switch to Android keyboard. Looks the same to me!

I am currently using Thumb keyboard without any issues. The dev are even adding support for this phone (so I have read in another forum).
I'm currently using tablet version and only think with (sometimes) wrong size are suggestions, on short words only since the font size decreases on longer words.

I am aware that I can choose different layout but as I get used to it I find it more easier to use. My passwords consists of various numbers and letters and I find it easier to type as the numeric keys are present on the same screen
On Swiftkey X I decreased the long press to 250ms from 500ms so I just have to hold the letter for a split second to get a number. It's pretty fast.

ive got thumb keyboard, works fairly well here. it auto scales to suit the galaxy note when you choose the phone portrait setting. and you can also adjust the height of buttons and long press response times as well.
Im using touchpal keyboard and for me this is the best keyboard for my note, im using polish dictionary, and dictionary in other keyboards are not so good. Keyboard is available in AM for free! Im using leather skin.

For people like me that often write in more than one languange (English and Spanish for example) SwiftKey Tablet X (or Swiftkey X) is simply the best keyboard for any device because you don't have to keep switching languages while you type, it auto detects and corrects on any language (up to three) at the same time!
I did read that there are not many themes and for Spanish are some issues with ñ character, any comments?
Both really stop my buy.

I installed touchpal, and seems like it is not scaled properly, i.e., the keys are sided to the left, instead of taking up all the horizontal span, can you tell me how to make it take up all the space? Plus, it also seems when pressing on a word that wasn't in the dictionary doesn't bring up the option to save it, can you point me to the solution(s)? Thanks ps: I'm using ics build from the chinese leak...

You can use any keyboard you have installed. Touch and hold anywhere in the writing area and choose your preferred input method. It will remain until you change it again in the same way.

I'm using imilka's AOSP rom, and I have the same problem with TouchPal. But I have to mention that I have the tablet interface and I changed the display density. And I'm guessing that's causing the problem! So I was wondering if you've changed the display density too? I really like TouchPal but I can't use it with the keys sided to the left!

Anyone else having problems with recorrection using the stock ICS keyboard? I thought it was working when I first installed it but doesn't seem to be the case anymore. On my Xoom or N1 running stock ICS, if I place my cursor back on a word I've previously typed it will bring back up the auto-correct suggestions, so you can choose the correct one (like if it didn't guess right). Most people familiar with the ICS kb are likely familiar with this feature.
Any feedback appreciated, this is one of the best features of the keyboard.
Edit: Forgot to mention, I've tried clearing the app data of the KB. No dice.

When Swiftkey 3 is released it will have a couple new themes called Cobalt (left) and Holo (right, ICS themed).
The nextgen keypad from the SwiftKey team is finally out for the users. But its still in its beta version. So you folks can give it a try. Its definitely worth a shot. An awesome keypad !
SwiftKey Flow adds support for gesture-based typing, which means you can type by sliding your finger from one key to another without lifting it off the screen. The best feature is that you can type whole sentences without lifting your finger off the screen ! Thats cool is it not.

As a swype user, I liked that it seemed like swype, but it's not the same. The predictions were a bit wonky and I'd have to correct it too often. I feel like it still caters more to the "tapper" crowd. A good app for what is advertises to be, just not for me.
